Mr. President …don’t quote us.

” AARP bucked the President, telling him to stop quoting them. Joel Gehrke, of The Examinerwrites, concerning AARP’s statements:
“While we respect the rights of each campaign to make its case to voters, AARP has never consented to the use of its name by any candidate or political campaign,” the group posted in a statement. “AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party.”
This comes as quite the surprise, especially considering the fact that they were a notoriously large supporter of Obamacare (and benefits tremendously from the ACA). One would think that the lobbying organization would do everything in its power to help the President in his hour of dire need, but it appears as if they’ve publicly thrown their man under the bus.”

While I think betrayal is condemnable, corporate involvement in politics is even worse. I wish SuperPACs and big corporate lobbyists didn’t have such a stranglehold on democracy.
