Chris Murphy To NASCAR: Drop NRA Sponsorship

” Sen. Chris Murphy wants NASCAR to pass on NRA’s race sponsorship.
In a letter sent Thursday to NASCAR CEO Brian France, Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, asks the stock car racing association to drop the NRA’s sponsorship of an April race at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The race, in NASCAR’s top flight, will be the NRA 500.
“By giving the NRA sponsorship of a major NASCAR race, NASCAR has crossed a line – you have decided to put yourself in the middle of a political debate, and you have taken a side that stands in opposition to the wishes of so many Newtown families who support common sense gun reform,” Murphy wrote. “Whether or not this was your intention, your fans will infer from this sponsorship that NASCAR and the NRA are allies in the current legislative debate over gun violence. By announcing this new partnership at the very height of Congress’s deliberations over gun reform, NASCAR has inserted itself into a political debate that has nothing to with the business of NASCAR.” “

PATRIOTIC DUTY: PUNCH A POLITICIAN IN THE FACE.
I’m more partial to tar and feathers myself .
That’s good too, but you must remember to light the feathers once stuck, with some fire. (That’ll learn ‘em.)
LMFAO …
Is there a huge fan base of NASCAR in Connecticut? I’m not all the familiar with Connecticuters, but my husband’s blood family in the North East seem mostly unaware of NASCARs existence.
Which would beg the question — why should NASCAR care about what people in Connecticut think?
Here in the northeast the people that care about liberty , freedom and guns are the same ones that watch NASCAR . We are the same fan base as you will find in the south and west , it’s just that we are not as numerous here as you all are in your respective Red States . Connecticut has a very sizable gun owning/hunting population , as do NY , NJ and Massachusetts , just not numerous enough to overcome the demographics of the large cities that basically constitute Democratic voting blocs . Don’t forget that two races a year happen in NH at Louden which is only a few hours drive from CT. Trust me when I tell you that there are never any empty seats for those two regular appearances of NASCAR racing in New England .
What I’ve discovered with my husband’s blood family (mostly from NH) is that they pretend they’re too sophisticated to watch NASCAR, bowl, or watch Fox News, but then they betray themselves by knowing what the Brickyard is or that Bill O’Reilly has the Talking Points Memo. I don’t know if they think that they have to act that way toward Westerners/Southerners or if they’re afraid their neighbors will find out.
