People Magazine’s Worst Selling Issue This Year? The One With Hillary Clinton On The Cover

” In June, Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on the cover of People magazine for the first time in more than a decade. Real people, not the magazine, talked about what the article might mean for 2016. They talked about whether Clinton was using a walker (she wasn’t). They talked about people talking about whether Clinton was using a walker (She still wasn’t).

According to a report from AdWeek on Monday, the June 16 issue of People featuring the former first lady and senator was the magazine’s worst selling of 2014 with 503,890 copies sold.

It has not been a good year for Hillary Clinton and print media. Her book, “Hard Choices,” also failed to sell as many copies as initial estimates assumed it would.”

Cops Illegally Nailed Webcam To Utility Pole For 6 Weeks To Spy On House

” A federal judge on Monday tossed evidence that was gathered by a webcam—turned on for six weeks—that the authorities nailed to a utility pole 100 yards from a suspected drug dealer’s rural Washington state house.

The Justice Department contended that the webcam, with pan-and-zoom capabilities that were operated from afar, was no different from a police officer’s observation from the public right-of-way.

The government argued (PDF):

The advantage of a police camera to law enforcement is that it saves the time and manpower required to conduct around the clock surveillance. As in this case, law enforcement is authorized to use the pole camera only to record activities that are otherwise open to public view, and not protected by the 4th Amendment.

US District Judge Edward Shea disagreed and ruled (PDF) that a warrant was necessary to spy on Leonel Vargas via a webcam controlled by local police.”

Somehow this little tidbit doesn’t surprise us:

” Strangely, the judge noted, when the authorities raided the house in May 2013, the camera was panned on nearby sagebrush and not the house.”

Special Forces Tactics Compromised By Hollywood, Media Reports

” In the secretive special operations community, officials are debating whether to tweak tactics for daring and risky missions involving hostage rescue and terrorist targeting that have been compromised by years of detailed news accounts and Hollywood portrayals.

Some believe Islamic extremists have gone to school on special operations forces. The classroom is the U.S. media.

Special operations forces’ three most recent attempts to rescue American hostages failed. Last year, SEALs attempted a beach insertion to capture a terrorist leader in Somalia but were spotted and repelled. There was also the horrific loss of SEALs in a helicopter shoot-down that some family members believe was an ambush.

For years, the basics for rescue and terrorist targeting have remained intact: insertion by silenced helicopter or boat to, or near, a target; and fast-roping or running to the end point. The objective is complete tactical surprise by the best commandos in the world, enhanced by goggles that let them see through the darkness.

But as one veteran of the special operations community said, “We’ve got one way of doing things, and the enemy is on to it because they’ve published these news reports and movies and all the rest of it. It’s time for some new tactics because the old ones are not working anymore.”

Retired Rear Adm. George Worthington, once the Navy’s top SEAL, was asked whether members of al Qaeda and other terrorist groups have gone to school on special operations tactics.”

Arkansas Badonkadonk

Earlier this month we highlighted a video that was produced by the Stand With Hillary Super PAC to support the “inevitable” campaign , it is her turn after all , of Ms Hillary Clinton for president . There was much to do on both sides of the aisle about the video , most of which commented on the fact that said video was unintended parody . This current video , by the esteemed Remy is real , intentional parody . Brought to you , as always , by ReasonTV we hope you enjoy it as much as we did .

Below are the lyrics so you can follow along …

” LYRICS:
Just like the last time around
Republicans are gonna frown
Mitt Romney and Ben Carson now?
Like Twitter stock you’re going down

You’d that you were riding in
Billy Joel’s car I swear
because you’re gonna see
shattered glass everywhere

I’m talking Arkansas Badonkadonk..
Perfect voting record make you wanna vote along
Gonna bring along ol’ Bill Clinton
and ooh-wee, shut my mouth, slap your grandma

You think she’s gonna lose
in the early primaries?
You’d sooner see Al Sharpton
promptly filing quarterlies

Somehow I’m a crusader
Can label you a hater
While I say “nominate
anybody with a baby-maker” “

Food Stamp Beneficiaries Exceed 46,000,000 for 37 Straight Months

” The number of beneficiaries who receive compensation from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as food stamps, has topped 46,000,000 for 37 straight months, according to data released by the Department of Agriculture (USDA).

In September 2014, which is the latest data from the USDA, there were 46,459,998 Americans who received assistance from the SNAP program. The number of beneficiaries has exceeded 46 million since September 2011, a total of 37 months, or more than three years.

In September, the number of beneficiaries was down from the 46,476,410 beneficiaries there were in August, a decline of 16,412. During that same time frame, the number of families receiving SNAP benefits increased from 22,724,624 in August to 22,750,019 in September, an increase of 25,395.

Households on food stamps in September got an average of $252.69 during the month, and the program benefits cost taxpayers $5,748,809,023.

In 1969, the average participation in the SNAP program stood at 2,878,000. In 2014, average participation grew to 46,536,000 showing an increase of 1516.96 percent.”

Thanks to CNS News

To put those numbers in perspective in 1969 one out of every 73.6 people was dependent on the State for supplemental food stamps while today after nearly fifty years of fighting the “war on poverty” the ratio is one out of every 6.8 people . Well done … God Bless The State …

Total spending to date on the “war on poverty” has exceeded sixteen trillion dollars and all we’ve gotten for that “investment” has been a larger and larger dole .

Since the

The numbers for SNAP spending during the past six years of the Obama administration from the CBO reflect a massive increase in dependency on the State :

Participation and Federal Spending for SNAP

” Almost two-thirds of the growth in spending on SNAP benefits between 2007 and 2011 stemmed from the increase in the number of participants. Labor market conditions deteriorated dramatically between 2007 and 2009 and have been slow to recover; since 2007, both the number of people eligible for the program and the share of those who are eligible and who participate in the program have risen.

About one-fifth of the growth in spending can be attributed to temporarily higher benefit amounts enacted in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The remainder stems from other factors, such as higher food prices and lower income among beneficiaries, both of which have boosted benefits.”

Dutch Marriage Proposal Sees Crane Smash IJsselstein House

Published on Dec 13, 2014

” A Dutchman’s plan to propose to his girlfriend has ended with a mobile crane smashing the roof of a house and forcing the evacuation of two others.

The man had wanted to surprise his partner by descending in front of her bedroom in the town of IJsselstein to sing her a song and pop the question.

But the unsecured crane he used instead toppled into a neighbour’s house.

The woman still said yes, Dutch media report, and the couple are now said to be celebrating in Paris.

Following the initial impact, more damage was done when the crane fell again during an attempt to right it.

Residents in nearby properties were evacuated but no one was injured. “

Police: Man Shot During Traffic Stop In Southwest Houston

Houston Man Shot By Cops

” Two police officers opened fire on an apparently unarmed man during a traffic stop in southwest Houston Friday night, allegedly shooting him three times for not following commands.

HPD officers pulled over the car the man was a riding in for an illegal lane change around 9:30 p.m. on Buffalo Speedway near West Fuqua.

According to authorities, the male passenger — identified by family as 38-year-old Michael Paul Walker — failed to obey orders and started to reach under his car seat.

” They saw the doors open up, one of the officers gave repeated verbal commands to stay inside the vehicle, then the officer went to brace the door to keep him (the passenger) inside,” said Houston Police Department spokesman Victor Senties. “At one point he had his arm all the way under the seat, right up to the elbow, as if he was trying to grab something … The officer gave him commands to show his hands … at that point the officer was in fear of his life and that of his partner.”

The officer fired at the man. Initial reports suggest that Walker then got out of the car and was walking around the parking lot of a convenience store before he was shot again.

Walker was shot three times total — twice in the legs and once on his side, according to his mother, Laura Walker. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he was said to be in serious but stable condition.

The shooting was witnessed by several party-goers from the Mystique Lounge and patrons in line at the nearby BBQ food truck.”

Obama silences military audience with ‘Santa in fatigues’ joke at New Jersey base

The president got nothing but a polite chuckle or two after comparing his audience with Saint Nick on Monday

The president was greeted in New Jersey by U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker as well as Governor Chris Christie

President Obama left a New Jersey military audience awkwardly silent Monday with an awkward Christmas joke that totally bombed.

‘ You never stop giving,’ Obama told a Fort Dix audience of military members and their families. ‘You guys are like Santa in fatigues.’

According to Business Insider, the president managed to salvage the humorous moment with another joke comparing a cargo plane that sat nearby to Santa’s reindeer-drawn ride.

‘ Although I’ll bet one of those C-130’s is a little more efficient than Santa’s sleigh,’ he said.

The audience reacted slightly better that time.

Obama spoke to hundreds of the camouflage-wearing troops in a hangar at Fort Dix to thank the U.S. military for its actions around the world. In a display of bipartisan support for the troops, Obama was joined by New Jersey’s Republican Governor Chris Christie, a potential candidate to succeed Obama in 2016.

The U.S.-led coalition in Syria and Iraq has had some successes against the Islamic State group but has yet to force a major rollback from the territorial gains the extremists made in seizing large swathes of Iraq last summer.

‘ Make no mistake. Our coalition isn’t just going to degrade this barbaric terrorist organization. We’re going to destroy it,’ Obama said.

Obama said gains are being made. Hundreds of vehicles and tanks and more than 1,000 fighting positions have been taken out, he said.

‘ We are hammering these terrorists,’ he said.

‘They may think that they can chalk up some quick victories, but our reach is long. We do not give up. You threaten America, you will have no safe haven. We will find you and like petty tyrants and terrorists before you, the world is going to leave you behind and keep moving on without you, because we will get you,’ Obama said.

Obama also said the United States is on track to end its combat mission in Afghanistan at year’s end, leaving behind a force dedicated to training Afghan security forces and carrying out counter-terrorism operations.

Obama last month approved a slight expansion in the U.S. role in the counter-terrorism operations. There are concerns in Afghanistan, however, about increasing Taliban attacks in the capital, Kabul.

Obama, who made ending the war in Afghanistan a priority, said challenges remain there. “

Sandy Hook Families File Lawsuit Against Gun Manufacturer

” Nine families of victims killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School and one survivor filed a wrongful-death lawsuit Saturday against the manufacturer of the rifle used in the shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 schoolchildren and six staff members using a Bushmaster Model XM15-E2S rifle on Dec. 14, 2012. The rifle was lawfully purchased by Nancy Lanza, Mr. Lanza’s mother, according to law-enforcement officials.

The lawsuit, which has been reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, was hand-delivered to a Connecticut state marshal, according to a spokeswoman for the families. The marshal now has 30 days to serve the defendants named in the lawsuit. The lawsuit will be heard in Superior Court in Bridgeport, Conn.

The suit names as defendants Bushmaster Firearms International, which is owned by Remington Outdoor Co.; Camfour, a company that distributes Bushmaster products; and Riverview Gun Sales, an East Windsor, Conn., gun shop that sold the rifle to Ms. Lanza.

The lawsuit claims the gun maker, the firearms distributor, and the store that sold firearm are liable for producing and selling a weapon unfit for civilian use.”

Josh Bernstein’s Incredible Argument For The REMOVAL Of Speaker John Boehner

” The ‘Fire-Breathing’ radio talk show host Josh Bernstein has penned the most eloquently written argument for the removal of Speaker John Boehner “as Speaker” that I have read. I don’t want to ruin your experience of reading this, so what I decided to do was simply “re-print” the article in its totality. Mr. Bernstein apparently wrote this a couple of days ago for the ‘Examiner’ as an Op-Ed.

My suggestion would be; read this, then share the heck out of it. I happen to agree with every word he has written. I believe you will also. As a side-note; Josh can be heard at this link.http://www.doublewidenetwork.com/index.php/Shows/detail/the_josh_bernstein_show . If you get time; do listen to him. He makes Rush Limbaugh sound like a wimp. Josh definitely is tough and he tells it like it is. If he ever gets tired of radio or the FCC throws him off the air, I am pretty sure he could get a job as a Marine Corps Drill Sergeant.

Once you have read the article, then please refer to this article I wrote yesterday with instructions on how to remove Speaker Boehner. This is going to take a national movement my fellow patriots. Bernstein’s article at Examiner.

JOSH BERNSTEIN’S OP-ED;

Mr. Speaker,

Here we are again. Maybe you remember me. I am Conservative Talk Show Host Josh Bernstein who over the summer due to your weakness and ineptitude instructed listeners and followers of my top rated show to send you some balls. I am sad to say that apparently you did not receive enough of them. I thought over the summer that Barack Obama was the main obstacle to getting America back on track, however I was wrong. Barack Obama is certainly a big part of the problem, but unfortunately for Republicans so are you. I and many frustrated Americans now can clearly see that not only does the President need to go but so do you as well.

Mr. Speaker, just a few short weeks ago millions of Americans rose up and voted to put the checks and balances that have sorely been missing back in Washington. They gave House Republicans a historic margin of victory in the November Mid Term Elections and elected nine new Republicans to give our party back control of the Senate. Americans we tired of the scandals, tired of the lies, and overwhelmingly repudiated the President’s policies.

Mr. Speaker, what you have done in the last few days was reprehensible and unforgivable. Your actions will have a negative effect on all Americans for years to come. Once again, The President has broken the law by passing illegal Executive Amnesty and you have done nothing to stop him. Article one, Section eight, Clause four of the United States Constitution clearly states that all matters of Naturalization are to be originated in the Congress. Barack Obama has used the Executive Branch to pass a law that illegally changes Naturalization and he did so without Congress. This is clearly an impeachable offense.

Mr. Speaker, we know that you don’t possess the testicular fortitude to impeach the President as I have made that point abundantly clear over the summer however I did not think you would stand idly by and allow the President to usurp the rule of law and incredibly not even try to stop him. You and the so-called House leadership promised to not fund the President’s Amnesty program however you broke that promise, among numerous others. You and the House leadership have the ability to block the Executive Amnesty program simply by inserting language into any bill that forbids The Department of Homeland Security from appropriating any monies or fees to be used for any type of Amnesty program. You recently made a comment that the American people do not trust the President. That may be true, however I think it is fair to say that the American people do not trust you either.

Mr. Speaker, by passing this trillion-dollar spending bill you have broken numerous promises to those voters that helped keep you in power. You have also weakened the position of the new incoming Congress by taking away some of their power, leverage, and maneuverability by funding the government till September of 2015.

Mr. Speaker, why would you squander this enormous amount of political capital? What did you have to gain by passing a trillion-dollar spending bill? Why didn’t you just do a continuing resolution to fund the government up until the new Congress takes over in January? Don’t you understand that you were elected to stop the President’s agenda not to go along with it? Your actions could also suppress future Republican turnout in 2016 as millions of voters will feel as though their vote truly does not count.

Mr. Speaker, the truth is a government shutdown would have been much less damaging than passing yet another irresponsible spending bill that future generations will have to pay for. You bought the left’s lie that a government shutdown will hurt Republicans. Well, take a good look at the results of this November’s mid-term? Do you think it really hurt us? Not only did you pass this bill but once again did so without reading it? The left must be just as shocked at your actions as most of us on the right are. I hope you are dressing up as Santa Claus at the White House Christmas Party because you have been very generous handing out tax payer funded gifts to the Democrats while stuffing Conservatives stockings with coal.

Mr. Speaker, I cannot sit back and allow you to govern this way anymore. If you fought the Democrats with the same tenacity and vigor that you fight the Conservatives in your own party, the President would not have done half the things he has done so far. The President understands that there are no consequences for his actions which is the reason he has been as brazen as he has. I do not blame the President for his actions as much as I blame you and your leadership or lack thereof, for providing the environment for which this President has been able to operate in. If you had the conviction of your character and you truly believed in the rule of law and the Constitution you would have held the President accountable a long time ago for his actions.

Mr. Speaker, I am calling on millions of fed up Americans to contact their representatives and ask them not to vote for you as Speaker and to instead remove you from leadership. My hope is that this letter goes viral and one of the 67 House Conservatives steps up and challenges you for your Speakership. I am convinced that if you are to remain the leader of the House Republicans that this historical election victory will have been wasted.

For those that are reading this please click on this link for further instructions on how to remove the Speaker:

  http://www.crowsnestpolitics.com/2014/12/13/boehner-replacement-instructions-your-step-by-step-guide-to-replacing-the-speaker/

Mr. Speaker, I really wish I did not have to write this type of letter to you again but you leave me no choice. I love this country way too much and cannot watch in good conscience as you aid and abet this President in our destruction.

Respectfully,

Josh Bernstein

Obamacare Blamed For Killing Hospitals

” Eighteen acute-care hospitals across the United States shut their doors in 2013.

At least 12 more hospitals have closed this year in rural areas alone. More are getting out the plywood to nail over windows and barricades for doors.

Don’t worry, it’s just the new normal under Obamacare, says Lee Hieb, M.D.

“ Events happening now give us some idea of what medicine will be reduced to in the future,” Hieb writes in her forthcoming book, “Surviving the Medical Meltdown: Your Guide to Living Through the Disaster of Obamacare.”

“ Today, all over America, small and midsize hospitals as well as hospitals in inner-city, poor areas are closing,” she said.

Hieb is an orthopedic surgeon and past president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

She said the reasons for the closures aren’t complicated. Most of the victims are smaller hospitals or those in poor areas, which often serve the greatest number of Medicare and Medicaid patients.

A report at Modern Health Care just a few weeks ago confirmed that among just the critical-access hospitals, which have 25 beds or fewer, there were 14 closures in 10 states in 2013.”

The 5 Dumbest Liberal Tweets Of The Week

” Time for the dumbest Tweets of the past week!  This week features an all-female cast.  Not because we at MRCTV are sexist. These particular women simply beat out the dumb Tweets from all the guys this week.  They really broke that glass ceiling.

Speaking of glass ceilings, let’s start out with the first female Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

What the esteemed Minority leader is referring to here is a bill that was passed by a bipartisan vote in the House on Thursday passing a bill that increased the amount of money individuals can give to campaigns.

The irony here is that Nancy Pelosi is one of the richest members of Congress with a net worth of nearly $30 million.  But, I’m sure Nancy would never DREAM of hijacking democracy!  *Cough…Obamacare..*cough *cough. Hmmm.  better get that cough checked out.

Video: Arvada High School Basketball Coach Throws Girl By Her Hair

” It’s a stunning video that is sure to spark debate.

A fight breaks out at a girls varsity basketball game between Arvada and Alameda High Schools.

As adults run onto the court to break it up, the Arvada High School coach grabs one of his players by her hair and throws her several feet to the ground.

The video shows one shocked fan in the stands pointing at what the coach had just done and raising his hands in disbelief.

The girl was kicked off the team and suspended from school. The coach, who also teaches at Arvada High School, was not punished.

When the fight erupted, Areeon Frilot, a sophomore player, was sitting on the Arvada High bench.

” My intentions were to go and break up the fight and grab my girl off of their girl,” the teen said.

” I got to about the three point line and that’s when I felt someone grab my hair from the back and throw me,” Areeon said. “My first reaction was that I just got thrown by another girl from the team.”

As the video shows, it was no girl. It was her head coach, Roger Griffin, who grabbed her by the hair and tossed the girl down.

” I was just shocked, like I can’t believe that the one person I trusted out of everybody in school was the one to do that to me,” the teen said. “

Coach Griffin should be the one suspended arrested and charged with assault . This is a shameful display of a lack of self-control on the part of an adult expected to inspire our children . This man has serious anger management issues .

Americans Find Some Tortures More Acceptable Than Others

” Most Americans think torture can be justified, but hardly anyone thinks “rectal feeding” is acceptable

This week saw the release of a long-awaited Senate report detailing the post-9/11 CIA detention and interrogation program with a focus on the agency’s the use of torture. According to the report, interrogation procedures used on some detainees that were much harsher and less effective than previously acknowledged. Critics, including former CIA interrogators and Bush administration officials, have called the report politically motivated and inaccurate.

When Americans are asked about suspected terrorists “who may know details about future attacks against the U.S.”, only 24% are prepared to say the use of torture is “never” justified. Nearly as many, 20%, say the use of torture is “always” justified, while the remainder say it’s either “sometimes” (28%) or only “rarely” (18%) justified – a total of 66% who are unwilling to rule out torture completely. There has been little change in views from April, before the release of the report, when 22% said torture was never justified. “

Ripping Into Senator Feinstein Over CIA Released Report

Emasculated And Enkindled

” The problem with a victim culture is that so many people want to join the ranks of victimhood that eventually you run short of oppressors. As I say in my new book (personally autographed copies of which make a Christmas gift your loved one will cherish forever), Elizabeth Warren is the whitest white since Frosty the Snowman fell in a vat of White-Out, but a dubious claim to be one 32nd Cherokee was enough to persuade Harvard Law School to promote her as their first “woman of color”. No wonder so many Democrats prefer her to Hillary: The first “woman of color” in the Oval Office! The first Cherokee!

If you’re not fortunate enough to have a great-great-great-grandmother who’s listed as Cherokee in the online transcription of an 1894 marriage application, what do you do? Lena Dunham is an upper-middle-class child of white privilege who’s had a charmed life, but she’s a victim, too. According to her new memoir, she was raped by “Barry”, the token conservative at Oberlin. The real-life Barry the Conservative denies raping her, and Random House has been forced to issue a statement “regretting the confusion” and to cover his legal bills, which he’d been paying for by “crowd-funding”. The publisher couldn’t resist a parting sneer:

We are offering to pay the fees Mr. Minc has billed his client to date. Our offer will allow Mr. Minc and his client to donate all of the crowd-funding raised to not-for-profit organizations assisting survivors of rape and sexual assault.

Because even if Barry the Conservative never raped Lena Dunham, odds are he’s raped someone else, right? As Ann Coulter put it:

How about donating it to organizations that assist survivors of false rape accusations?

Rather than an epidemic of campus rape, there seems to be some sort of psychological inversion of “white flight”, in which untold numbers feel the need to flee their bland middle-class suburbs and pitch up in edgier ghettos. You’ll have noticed the recent uptick in news of the transgendered – indeed, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, author of the now discredited University of Virginia gang-rape story, was previously reporting on the epidemic of trans rape (Ms Erdely appears to be the Rape Correspondent of Rolling Stone). I note there are some three times as many male-to-female transgenders as there are female-to-male. So all that “gender fluidity” is a vast net transfer from the male brutalizer sector to the female victim sector. At some point it would seem likely to become a flood. After all, it’s not so difficult to imagine, a fake gang-rape story or three down the line, elite universities requiring gender reassignment as a condition of continued male admission. In some sense, the swollen ranks of the transgendered seem to have intuited that the jig is up for guys. Might as well check out of the guy business entirely. I’m thinking of pitching Marvel Comics a new superhero group featuring a transwoman, an ambigender, a pangender, an intergender, a bigender and a 2-spirited called Ex-Men.

We are all ex-men now. The sadly misnamed Cavalier Daily of Charlottesville has a highly non-cavalier story about how “Jackie”, the “victim” of the University of Virginia “gang” “rape”, is owed a debt of gratitude for “pulling back the curtain on rape“: “

As usual Mr Steyn is Saturday’s Must-Read

Congress Has Just Overruled Your 1st, 4th And 5th Amendment Rights

” As of today, Bill HR4681 has passed the house and senate, and is currently undergoing arbitration before being sent to the President for his signature in to law. The law says that the intelligence community can collect, retain, and disseminate all electronic communications including voice calls [without any constitutional restrictions] on all US citizens and everyone else in the world.  And they have 5 years before they are supposed to destroy the records.  However, they can keep them indefinitely if they fall into several categories of interest.

It is all out in the open now.  Your 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendment protections are gone.  This act gives new meaning to ‘land of the free, home of the brave.’  The intelligence community isn’t doing anything in secret any more.  Americans are now living in an environment much like the days of the old Stalinist Soviet Union, where the presumption was that all conversations were monitored and one takes measures to have a ‘private’ conversations.

So turn up your radio or turn the water on in the sink and watch what you say on the phone or Facebook, even casual remarks on twitter may come back to haunt you in the future.  Don’t believe me, I have pasted the relevant parts of the bill below this story. Still don’t believe it? Just go to www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/4681/text and read it from the horse’s mouth.

What are you willing to do about it?

is authorizing retention;

(III) the particular information to be retained;

and

(IV) the measures the element of the intelligence

community is taking to protect the privacy interests of

United States persons or persons located inside the

United States. “

Undercover Cop Draws Gun On Photographer During Black Lives Matter Protest

” An undercover law enforcement agent drew a handgun on a crowd of protesters on Wednesday night in Oakland, Calif.

San Francisco Chronicle photographer Michael Short managed to capture the scene, even while staring down the barrel of a gun. Other images of the incident were nabbed by Noah Berger of Reuters, who photographed the officer’s profile as he pointed the gun.

More than 100 supporters of the ever-growing national Black Lives Matter movement marched on Wednesday through the streets of Oakland and Berkeley. The incident involving the drawn weapon was live-tweeted by not only protesters and press, but the Oakland Police Department’s own Area 2 Commander Lt. Chris Bolton.”

Some who attended the demonstration say they witnessed the unidentified officers attempting to disrupt the peaceful protest and provoke violence. Specifically, they accuse the officers of banging on windows and calling for protesters to loot businesses while walking among the crowd.

One of the officers in Berger’s photographs can be seen wearing a black mask to obscure the lower half of his face. Activists claim the officers, whose agency has yet to be identified, were attempting to disguise themselves as anarchists.”

ISIS-Fighting Britons Held At Heathrow Airport

” Two British men who joined Kurdish forces fighting Islamic State in Syria have told how they were treated as terrorism suspects on their return to the UK.

Former soldiers Jamie Read, 24, and James Hughes, 26, say they were taken to separate interview rooms at Heathrow Airport and questioned about their trip for six hours.

Anti-terrorism officers took their laptops and equipment and went through their phones, they said.

Mr Read told The Sun: “I was raging. They kept asking why we went, who we were with and were we being paid? We weren’t, of course.”

The pair went to Syria and fought alongside Kurdish forces in Kobani after IS filmed the brutal killing of British and American aid workers.”

Read more here and Newsweek has much more detail:

” They said on Facebook before they went that they could “not do nothing while innocent men, women and children are tortured and murdered by Islamic State while the international community stands by and observes from the luxury of their boardrooms or their tanks on the hill [sic].”

The men had been warned that they would face police interviews if they returned to Britain. Sir Edward Garnier QC, the former solicitor general told BBC Radio 4 in November: “We are in a terrible grey area, not least because we don’t know enough about what they are doing.”

“ The United Kingdom is trying to defeat ISIL. But freelancers are not acting on behalf of the United Kingdom. They may well be guilty of murder, or other sorts of crimes, or they might not be guilty of anything.

“ It goes to the general story who go abroad to fight in other people’s wars place themselves not only in physical danger, but in that legal limbo land where they could, if they get on the wrong side of this almost invisible line, into trouble when they get home,” he said.

The Britons had joined a legion of 20 foreign fighters known as the Lions of Rojava, where they could be seen on the group’s website with the motto: “Send terrorists to hell and save humanity.” They were allegedly recruited by an American called Jordan Matson. “

So much for the spirit that produced 40,000 volunteers to fight fascism in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade 80 odd years ago . My how the West has fallen … Political correctness will be the death of us all .
