” Thousands took to the streets of Dresden, Germany, to protest the Islamization of their country. Their opponents also rallied at the same time warning about spreading xenophobic ideas in Europe.
At least 10,000 people joined the march of Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of Europe, or PEGIDA, a German right-wing organization. The protesters say they want to preserve Germany’s Judeo-Christian Western culture, and curb the spread of Islamic State and Al-Qaeda activities in the EU.
“Political refugees are very welcome. But look at our asylum seekers’ homes here. There are only men living there. Where are their families? They are criminals who left their families behind in the war,” one PEGIDA activist told Euronews. “
” A new poll of Latino voters finds that most want President Obama to issue more executive orders to cover all illegal immigrants and protect them from deportation if Congress doesn’t agree to comprehensive immigration reform.
The Latino Decisions survey found that 73 percent of the 405 registered voters polled want “additional executive orders” to protect immigrant workers not impacted by Obama’s decision last week targeted at four to five million parents facing deportation.
“ We would prefer much more,” said Oscar Chacon, executive director of the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities.
He added that 2016 presidential candidates should be welcoming to immigrants or face a voter backlash. “We will make sure that it is a central issue in the coming election,” he said.
The poll, conducted on behalf of Presente.org and Mi Familia Vota, also found that 64 percent of the Latino voters know “somebody who is an undocumented immigrant.” Some 42 percent said that they were both a friend and a family member.
Obama’s move won overwhelming support from those polled, with 89 percent supporting it strongly or somewhat strongly.
“ This 89 percent is the highest and most unified we have ever found,” said Matt Barreto, co-founder of Latino Decisions.
Republicans took a big hit in the poll, with most, 64 percent, blaming Republicans for inaction on immigration reform. “
Given the oft-stated fact that we all came from immigrants at one time or another , which is true , we still cannot recall any of our immigrant fore-bearers either expecting or receiving the kind of special treatment now deemed to be deserved by the latest influx of foreigners . Since when is everyone “entitled” to citizenship ?

” The U.S. government now patrols nearly half the Mexican border by drones alone in a largely unheralded shift to control desolate stretches where there are no agents, camera towers, ground sensors or fences, and it plans to expand the strategy to the Canadian border.
It represents a significant departure from a decades-old approach that emphasizes boots on the ground and fences. Since 2000, the number of Border Patrol agents on the 1,954-mile border more than doubled to surpass 18,000 and fencing multiplied nine times to 700 miles.
Under the new approach, Predator Bs sweep remote mountains, canyons and rivers with a high-resolution video camera and return within three days for another video in the same spot, according to two officials with direct knowledge of the effort on condition of anonymity because details have not been made public.
The two videos are then overlaid for analysts who use sophisticated software to identify tiny changes — perhaps the tracks of a farmer or cows, perhaps those of immigrants who entered the country illegally or a drug-laden Hummer, they said.
About 92 percent of drone missions have shown no change in terrain, but the others raised enough questions to dispatch agents to determine if someone got away, sometimes by helicopter because the area is so remote. The agents look for any sign of human activity — footprints, broken twigs, trash.
About 4 percent of missions have been false alarms, like tracks of livestock or farmers, and about 2 percent are inconclusive. The remaining 2 percent offer evidence of illegal crossings from Mexico, which typically results in ground sensors being planted for closer monitoring.”

” Anti-American protesters shouting “Yankee, go home!” roughed up three US navy sailors Wednesday in Istanbul near where their warship was docked on an inlet of the Bosphorus Strait in the Black Sea.
About 10 protesters shouted at them, calling them killers and saying they should leave Turkey. The protesters, who carried a banner of the Youth Association of Turkey, threw red paint at the sailors and briefly succeeded in putting white sacks over their heads.
The servicemen, who were not in uniform, were from the USS Ross, a guided-missile destroyer docked nearby, according to Capt Greg Hicks, a spokesman for the US European Command. He said they were not hurt and were safely back aboard the ship, but that shore leave for its sailors was canceled for the remainder of the day. The incident is being investigated by US authorities, he said.”

” It was the morning after the best party ever, the tumult and joy that marked the fall of the Berlin Wall on Nov. 9, 1989. After 28 years, East Berliners were giddy with marvel that they could now visit the West.
Günter Taubmann felt different, as if, he said, “I am in the wrong movie.” Eight years earlier, his only child, Thomas, had been killed trying to cross the wall, one of 138 people who died at the barrier erected by the Communists in 1961 to stop Germans streaming out of the poor, repressive East.”
Here is a video that details the history of the wall from construction to destruction:
” Now, someone at work had been to the West and back during that magical night, and was telling the tale. Mr. Taubmann’s Communist colleagues professed to be exultant over the end of the order they had long espoused. Workmates who had not mourned Thomas at the time of his death were suddenly solicitous.
“ I didn’t know what they wanted from me, and then they started, ‘What bad luck! Your son could have waited,’ ” Mr. Taubmann recounted, his voice edgy with sarcasm. “I am normally a calm person, but there I got in such a fury. I simply threw them all out. ‘Just get out of my room.’ ” “

” If President Barack Obama expects to escape the spate of brutal post-election news by traveling 6,000 miles and 12 time zones to Asia, he’s in for a surprise.
Regional players are taking stock of whether the U.S. president once seen as a global rock star will now have diminished heft on the world stage, and some are delivering their verdict well ahead of his arrival Monday for an eight-day trip to China, Burma and Australia.
Global Times, an English-language newspaper published by China’s state-run People’s Daily, has carried two withering editorials in recent days.
“ The lame-duck president will be further crippled” in the wake of a GOP victory, the newspaper warned in one before the voting was complete. “He has done an insipid job, offering nearly nothing to his supporters. US society has grown tired of his banality.”
“ This will be the most recent manifestation of America’s weakness and they will figure that into their deliberation,” said Jon Hunstman, a Republican who served as U.S. Ambassador to China under Obama and pointed to Chinese adeptness at sizing up power. “They will see it through that prism and consider whether this president still has the swat to actually get anything done.” “
” In his first and only interview since being released from a Mexican prison, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi goes “On The Record” with Greta Van Susteren.
Back in March, Tahmooressi — the most relaxed man in the country — took a wrong turn into Mexico while in possession of three guns and ended up spending 214 days in prison.”
Part two can be seen at Guns.com
” U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, jailed more than 200 days in Mexico, was freed by a judge Friday and immediately returned to the U.S., his family said.
Tahmooressi, 26, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, had been held since March 31, when he said he mistakenly crossed into Mexico with three legally-purchased and registered guns in his truck.
A court-appointed psychiatrist confirmed that Tahmooressi has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Family spokesman Jonathan Franks said the judge released him without making a determination on the charge against him. He had been held initially at a prison outside Tijuana, then was moved to a prison outside Tecate.
His family released a statement Friday night saying, “It is with an overwhelming and humbling feeling of relief that we confirm that Andrew was released today after spending 214 days in a Mexican jail. He is back on American soil and will shortly resume treatment for both his pre-existing combat related PTSD and the residual effects of months of incarceration – which has taken a toll on him far worse than his two tours in Afghanistan.” “
” The White House on Wednesday went into damage control over a senior administration official’s description of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “chickenshit,” saying the remarks were “counterproductive.”
“ Comments like that do not reflect the administration’s views,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest, calling the U.S.-Israeli relationship “as strong as ever.”
However, the Obama-Netanyahu relationship has always been frosty, and the latest insult further strains ongoing talks between the two leaders about how to address widespread unrest in the Middle East.
In a story published by the Atlantic Tuesday, senior administration officials framed Netanyahu as a cowardly politician solely motivated by self-interest. “

” Calling it ““an irresponsible overreach of the executive branch’s authority.,” Senator Charles Grassley, ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, is criticizing an executive order issued by the president that would allow at least 100,000 Haitian nationals into the United States to be “reunited with their families.”
“ Which countries are next on President Obama’s list?” Mr. Grassley said. “Will there by medical screenings before entry? Will work permits be granted automatically? How will this affect American workers?”
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the branch of the Department of Homeland Security that handles immigration benefits cases, announced Friday the program to unite Haitians already living in the U.S. with family members abroad will ramp up in 2015.
At that time the State Department’s National Visa Center will begin notifying families who may be eligible to take part in the program. Those immigrants will allowed to apply for work permits while waiting for issuance of their permanent visas.
The agency said the program will expedite “safe, legal and orderly migration.”
A similar program that reunited Central American children with their parents had a fraud rate of about 70%. “
” A passenger died on a Nigeria-to-JFK flight after a vomiting fit Thursday — and a top lawmaker said officials gave the corpse only a “cursory” exam before declaring that the victim did not have Ebola.
Rep. Peter King said in a letter to Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection that the handling of the remains exposed serious flaws in airport preparedness for an Ebola outbreak.”
” Between 70 and 100 passengers a day arrive at JFK from the Ebola epicenter countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, King noted, and they have access to public restrooms and mingle with other travelers before their first screening. “

” As an estimated 2,000 expatriates from the United States and other Western nations join the Islamic State to fulfill a passion for conflict or jihad, a much smaller number of Westerners have signed up to fight against the militants. The latest: members of a biker gang from Holland.
The head of Never Surrender, Klaas Otto, told a Dutch radio station that three of its members went to Iraq to join Kurdish fighters battling the Islamic State, also known as ISIL or ISIS.”
“Ron from The Netherlands has joined the Kurds to exterminate the rodents of [ISIS]”
” The gang touts a quote from Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel on its Facebook page: “I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides.”
The story was first reported Wednesday by NPR.
The bikers join others outraged over the brutality displayed by Islamic State fighters, who have seized wide swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria. A former U.S. soldier from Racine, Wis., joined Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq and was wounded in a mortar attack.
” I couldn’t just sit and watch Christians being slaughtered anymore,” Jordan Matson, 28, told USA TODAY last week from a hospital bed in Derike, Syria. “These people are fighting for their homes, for everything they have.” “

” The Republicans in Congress hold significant leads over the Democrats on four of the six issues that U.S. registered voters say are most important in determining how they will vote in November: the economy, the way the federal government is working, the situation with Islamic militants in Iraq and Syria, and the federal budget deficit. Democrats, by contrast, top their Republican rivals on just one of the six: “equal pay for women.”
These results are from a Sept. 25-30 poll in which Gallup asked registered voters to rate the importance of 13 issues to their vote for Congress, and then to indicate which party would do a better job on each issue. The accompanying graph simultaneously displays the rankings of these issues on both dimensions. The higher an issue is, the greater the Republican Party’s advantage. And the farther to the right an issue is, the more important it is to the electorate.
The 13 issues measured in the new poll include eight that appeared in a Gallup Poll conducted in April, before the midterm campaign season came into full bloom, plus five new ones. In total, six issues were rated above the average of 69%, in terms of the percentage of voters saying they are extremely or very important to their vote:
- the economy (88%)
- the availability of good jobs (86%)
- the way the federal government is working (81%)
- the situation with Islamic militants in Iraq and Syria (78%)
- equal pay for women (75%) and
- the federal budget deficit (73%)
On the No. 1 issue, the economy, Republicans have more than doubled their April lead over Democrats, to 11 percentage points. “

” Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer lashed out at National Security adviser Susan Rice following her seemingly premature announcement that the U.S. had reached an agreement with Turkey over using territory to train troops to fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
Krauthammer told “Special Report” host Bret Baier, after airing Rice’s comments on “Meet The Press” on Sunday, that the adviser’s proclamation, coupled with the Turks denial, is a “huge embarrassment” and “unbelievable.” The conservative commentator also blamed President Barack Obama for this failure to reach an agreement, wondering why the Turks would join a war “where the leader of the coalition is not serious.” “

” In her first national TV interview, the mother of Benghazi victim Glen Doherty went “On The Record” to discuss her son’s death and the action she’s taking against the CIA, State Department, and his insurance company.
Barbara Doherty told Greta Van Susteren that the first time she heard that Glen was in Libya was when she learned that he had died. Barbara said that her daughter broke the news to her.
“ It’s the wrong order,” she said of her son dying before her.
When asked whether the government gave her any information on the day she learned of Glen’s death, Barbara said, “That day was just filled with crying and tears. If they told me anything, I don’t remember it. It was like that for two or three days […] looking back, you’re in a fog and you’re just told what to do, and you do it.”
It was “well over a month” before then-FBI Director Robert Mueller called Barbara. She said that he apologized for not calling sooner and said it was because he couldn’t find her contact number.
“ I said, ‘You are the FBI,’ he said, ‘Yes,’” she told Van Susteren. “

GEEN STIJL, EJ BRON, NOS: Apart from nice weather, is this September week, full of interesting news items from The Netherlands. It had started by a ‘glamour Jihadist’ from Huizen, in ‘Het Gooi’ (an area where Dutch VIP’s use to live) who had on his computers manuals and detailed planes for terror assaults; including suicide bombing. It had proceeded by a brutal attack of Muslim immigrants on an indigenous 15 years old girl from IJmuiden.
During the debates on State affairs, two days ago, PM Mark Rutte had dedicated a special word for Geert Wilders of the Freedom Party. Rutte reflects his anger on Wilders negative views on Muslims and Moroccans. They deserve much more respect for their contribution to Dutch society.
By the way, the girl was molested on a spot called ‘Plein 1945’; a square named after the year in which The Netherlands was freed by the allies from the Nazis.
PM Mark Rutte says Wilders cannot stand in the shadow of all the good Moroccans (and other Muslims). They are outstanding people who are busy in their mosque (with what?), are serving in the army (of whom? The one of Allah?) …and of course they are excellent neighbours; especially in the Sharia neighbourhoods of The Hague, Amsterdam etc. “
