Donkey Suicide Bomb Stopped By Israeli Troops In Gaza

” Hamas militants sent a donkey laden with explosives on a suicide mission in one of the most unconventional tactics yet seen in the fighting in Gaza, the Israeli army has said.

Troops said they were forced to open fire on the animal – blowing it up – as it approached their position in the southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border.

The Israeli army had received prior intelligence that militants were going to try to use animals to carry out attacks, according to a press release on the Israeli Defence Forces website.

Israeli military officials say Friday night’s incident was a variant of what they say is Hamas’ tactic of using “human shields” to carry out “terrorist” activity.

” They used this donkey as a human shield, or an animal shield, if you like,” said Major Arye Shalicar, an army spokesman. “Anything, an animal or an international building, that can help make use of innocent people or international [citizens], they will use it. We see it time and again.” “

And yes, if do realize that the BAR was kind of a special purpose firearm, and the firearms our military uses for that sort of purpose today are more likely to be belt fed, etc. In terms of producing a 20-rd rifle of serious caliber that a man could carry into battle, we thought a little comparison might be interesting. It is to me, at least. :-)

20 Missiles Found In UN-Run School In Gaza

” Some 20 rockets were found Wednesday in a school in Gaza operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the organization confirmed Thursday.

The weapons were found in “the course of the regular inspection of its premises,” UNRWA said in a statement, adding that the school was vacant.

“UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations. This is a flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law,” the statement read.

The discovery would seem to confirm Israel’s oft-repeated claim that Hamas and other Gazan terror groups use civilian infrastructure to hide weapons.”

What This Rancher Found Near The Mexican Border Should Sound The Alarms

Screen Shot 2014-07-15 at 8.38.11 AM

” Texas rancher Mike Vickers found an odd book on his property: an Urdu-to-English dictionary. Urdu is the official language of Pakistan, and is spoken in Muslim areas of India and parts of Afghanistan.

This is certainly an unusual item to find on the border of Mexico, which is a Spanish-speaking country. From The Blaze:

While local ranchers have to contend with torn-up fences, broken water lines, contaminated wells and robbery on a daily basis from illegal immigrants streaming through, a Texas Border Patrol agent told The Blaze there is “no doubt” that among the hordes of Central Americans are also crossers from Pakistan and Afghanistan, raising significant national security concerns. “

Anyone that believes the only people flooding across our wide open southern border either possesses a death wish or is completely ignorant of the ways of the world . No nation can survive if it cannot control who enters its territory . This is further proof that our “leader” actively seeks the end of our way of life … after all he has freely admitted that he does not believe in American Exceptionalism .

If we have no idea who is entering the country then we have no idea WHAT is entering either . Lets hope they target DC first , and not during recess .

This Bullet Can Change Direction Mid-Air To Track Down Its Target

” The future of war is a laser-guided bullet that can change direction and hit targets at a distance of over one mile away.

DARPA, the research arm of the Pentagon, has developed the EXACTO system to put a four-inch-long bullet with an optical laser sensor and an eight-bit central processing unit that can compute an algorithm to command electromagnetic steering to give the bullet its deadly precision.

Unlike most rifle bullets, EXACTO has no spin. Instead, it travels like an electronic dart with fins that can guide it in mid-air.

A sniper team can control the bullet after firing to ensure accuracy while compensating for weather, wind, target movement, and a range of other factors.”

21 Conservative Writers To Read At The Beach

” Conservatives have for a generation spent too much time complaining about the liberal dominance of popular culture, and too little making their own.

But — as I argue in National Review this month — there is a growing countercultural revolt against the ingrained (and often unconscious) liberalism of mainstream popular culture, a revolt that has so far escaped widespread notice, though you can find some of it on Liberty Island, a website I founded that is devoted to the best in conservative fiction.

After reading my introduction to this literary revolt, the editors of BuzzFeed asked me to suggest a list of conservative novels that deserve a wider audience. What follows is not the usual exercise of pointing out a handful of successful conservative authors like Tom Clancy, Tom Wolfe, or Brad Thor. Nor is it in any way exhaustive, but a brief, unsystematic survey of an as-yet uncharted territory. As such, it represents the barest hint of what is actually out there.

This an introduction to 21 writers you probably have never heard of — and won’t, if the powers that rule the lit-crit, fanfic, and commercial publishing worlds have anything to say about it.

So consider this a news dispatch from way, way, way outside the Beltway. Out in the lush, teeming jungle beyond the walls of the literary-industrial complex. The conservative countercultural revolt is on its way. Indeed it is already here. I didn’t say you had to like it. But give it a try — you just might! And if you have more ideas, add them in the comments section below.”

” These spooky apocalyptic images are not a scene from “Walking Dead”, they were actually taken at one of the biggest car cemeteries in the world – the Chatillion Car Graveyard, Belgium.

According to an urban legend these cars were left behind by US soldiers from World War II, who could not ship them back to the US so they decided to hide them in a forest until they could come back and retrieve them. The locals disagree and say that it’s simply an old car dump of vehicles made after the WWII.

At one point there were four car graveyards in Chatillon with as many as 500 retro vehicles. Unfortunately, most of the cars were stolen or removed by the locals and due to environmental issues the whole graveyards was cleared in 2010.”

Woodrow Wilson’s Great Mistake

” World War I was probably history’s worst catastrophe, and U.S. President Woodrow Wilson was substantially responsible for unintended consequences of the war that played out in Germany and Russia, contributing to the rise of totalitarian regimes and another world war. American “isolationism” — armed neutrality would be a more accurate term — developed as a sensible reaction to his policies. After Germany’s initial advances into the Low Countries and France, the adversaries in World War I dug trenches and seldom advanced or retreated much from those lines.

German soldiers were generally outnumbered on the Western Front, but the Germans had smarter generals and more guns. The British navy enforced an effective blockade that made it difficult for the Germans to obtain many vital supplies, including food. Germany responded by building a submarine fleet, but it didn’t give them a way to invade Britain or the United States. By 1918, the war had been stalemated for more than three years, neither side able to force vindictive terms on the other. One of the last German offensives ground to a halt in the French countryside when German commanders couldn’t prevent their starving soldiers, amazed by the abundance of food, from gorging themselves on cheeses, sausages, and wine.

If the U.S. had stayed out of the war, it seems likely there would have been some kind of negotiated settlement. Neither the Allied Powers (France, Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and several smaller states) nor the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria) would have gained everything they wanted from a negotiated settlement. Both sides would have complained. But a catastrophe would have been less likely after a negotiated settlement than after vindictive terms were forced on the losers.”

More Victims Of False Faith In America

Intel Official: Americans Have Joined Militant Group ISIS

” The Sunni militant group in Iraq is a force roughly 3,000 strong and includes some Americans, a senior intelligence official told CBS News on Tuesday.

The majority of fighters in the group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, are of Iraqi and Syrian origin.

In all, up to 10,000 are fighting with the group, 3,000 in Iraq and another 7,000 in Syria, the intelligence official said. Between 3,000 and 5,000 are foreigners, though how many of those are in Iraq is difficult to assess.

The fighters view Syria and Iraq as one battlefield and have been able to move swiftly inside Iraq with the help of local Sunnis, ties the intelligence official described as more of a “relationship of convenience” than a formal alliance.

The official said the group, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, was well-positioned to keep the territory that it has captured but would be stretched thin if it tried to push south into Baghdad. It has intentions to target U.S. interests, the official said.”

Judge Who Sentenced Saddam Hussein To Death Has Been Executed By ISIS, Local Media Reports

” Back in 2006, after the second US invasion of Iraq culminated if not with the discovery of the WMDs (which were the pretext for the invasion in the first place), but the unearthing (literally) and kangaroo court trial of Saddam Hussein, the US was quick to announce “mission accomplished.” Recent events have made a mockery of that claim, however what is truly the straw that broke the back of poetic justice, to mix metaphors, are reports from local media that as part of its blitz-campaign to take over northern Iraq, ISIS found and the promptly executed Rauf Rashid Abd al-Rahman, the judge who sentenced Saddam to death: a death which to many was the crowning moment of the second US invasion of Iraq, and the confirmation of successful US foreign policy.

It goes without saying that if true, the murder of the man who indirectly did the US bidding in slamming the book shut on the Saddam regime (and with it US claims of Iraqi “liberation”) and was responsible for Saddam’s death, means the last “Mission Accomplished” posted can now be safely taken down.”

Boeing Test Flies The Unmanned QF-16 Fighter

Boeing Pilotless F-16

” As a pilotless F-16 roared into the sky Sept. 19 at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., members of Boeing’s QF-16 team and the U.S. Air Force celebrated.

The flight represented the first unmanned QF-16 Full Scale Aerial Target flight.  Put another way, fighter pilots now have an adversary for which to train against that prepares them like never before.

Two U.S. Air Force test pilots in a ground control station at Tydall remotely flew the QF-16, which is a retired F-16 jet modified to be an aerial target. While in the air, the QF-16 mission included a series of simulated maneuvers, reaching supersonic speeds, returning to base and landing, all without a pilot in the cockpit.

“ It was a little different to see it without anyone in it, but it was a great flight all the way around,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ryan Inman, Commander, 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron. “It’s a replication of current, real world situations and aircraft platforms they can shoot as a target. Now we have a 9G capable, highly sustainable aerial target.”

Prior to the QF-16, the military used a QF-4 aircraft, which was a modification of the F-4 Phantom, a Vietnam-era fighter The modified QF-16 provides pilots a target that performs closer to many jets flying today.

The QF-16s were all retired aircraft. Boeing retrieved them from Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona and restored them for flight.

Next up, live fire testing moves to Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. The military will ultimately use QF-16s for weapons testing and other aerial training.

So far, Boeing has modified six F-16s into the QF-16 configuration.

To see the QF-16 make its first flight, watch the video. To see highlights from the cockpit video, click the link (pilotless F-16) in the written story.”

Someone Is Spilling ISIS’s Secrets On Twitter

” A mysterious Twitter account is trying to stop ISIS’ rise to power by spilling the terror group’s secrets online. For more than six months a series of tweets have detailed the alleged covert alliances and conspiratorial machinations behind the ascension of The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, the Islamist group taking over large parts of Iraq. Taken together, the tweets form a slanted but valuable picture of ISIS and one of the only portraits of its leaders. Perhaps even more important, the account is still active, sending out tweets days ago about ISIS’s current strategy in Iraq and what it plans to do next.

Sitting over a keyboard somewhere, likely in a Syrian town now held by rebel forces, is @wikibaghdady, the leaker behind the anti-ISIS account. He may be a former ISIS member who defected to ISIS’ rivals in Syria, the al Qaeda backed Al Nusra front, as some analysts have speculated. Or, “he” may actually be more than one person, with @wikibaghdady serving as the avatar for a group effort to undermine ISIS’ official story and knock it from its perch atop the jihadist movement. Whatever the case, @wikibaghdady has put ISIS in uncomfortable positions, revealing the true name of the group’s leader and a deeply controversial association.

Most of @wikibaghdady’s secret history of ISIS is a straightforward chronicle of purported facts about the group, presented as a series of questions, posed and then answered by the account. But pulling back the curtain and exposing ISIS’ inner workings, @wikibaghdady claims that ISIS is an elaborate fraud, pretenders to the Caliphate.”
