Scientists Colorized This Image To Show The Intensity Of Coronal Mass Ejections

Colorized Coronal Mass Ejections from the Sun

” In this image, the sun reaches out into space with long, super-intense flares of magnetized plasma called coronal mass ejections. When they’re directed toward Earth, such ejections may trigger auroras. Especially powerful ejections interrupt power supply and communications on Earth.

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, a joint project between the European Space Agency and NASA, originally took this photo in 2002. Scientists recently colorized it to show the intensities of the ejections. The white regions in the image are the most intense, while the red regions are of medium intensity and the blue regions are the least intense.”

Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire – Theatrical Trailer

Published on May 22, 2013

” “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” — United States Constitution, Amendment II

Newtown school shooting. Aurora theater shooting. Tucson supermarket shooting.
Are visceral reactions to tragedies trumping the words of our forefathers?
Should we allow fear and the growing concern over public safety to limit our civil liberties?

Dead Patriot Films presents “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire,” a documentary that brings audiences to the center of the controversy over the issue that is dividing our nation — gun control. The film takes a critical look at current gun laws and the rising movement to restrict the rights guaranteed by our Second Amendment.

With the original intention of empowering a citizenry’s ability to defend themselves against a corrupt or tyrannical government, the concept today may seem farfetched or the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. However, it has happened throughout U.S. history. And long before gun control was positioned as a “common sense measure” to combat violence, it was used as a means to oppress certain minority groups. Presently, the growing trend in gun control favors the wealthy and privileged, who leverage their connections to ensure their Second Amendment rights and safety, while those of lesser means struggle.

Informative and emotionally charged, “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire” is an eye-opening look at the genesis of the Second Amendment in the Constitution, leading the audience to rethink the issues surrounding gun control, and the affect on civil rights and liberty.

After all, what you don’t know can kill you.”

Should , But Don’t

What Journalists Should Know About School Shootings And Guns

” In the coming days, journalists will have to provide clear-eyed context to help the nation come to terms with the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Without question this incident will once again spark heated debates over gun-control and school safety. Let’s step back to see what we need to know to cover those stories.

Schools are safe.  After days like this, it can be hard to remember that schools are usually the safest place for a child. School violence has been in a steep decline since 1990.

But even after the mass murder in Aurora, Colorado, and even after the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, there was no increase in support for gun restrictions. Right after that shooting, Gallup found that Americans resist gun control mostly because they do not trust the government.

Gallup said, “Almost half of Americans say they perceive the federal government to be an ‘immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens,’ and this percentage is up in recent years.”

Look at this trend described by Gallup, which has been asking about gun control for years: “

The heartstrings party once again leaves reason behind in pursuit of their single-minded statist agenda .

“You didn’t think Congress would do nothing after the Aurora shooting, did you — especially the Democrat-controlled Senate?  Fueled by the detail that the AR-15 (not an AK-47) used in the massacre had a high-capacity drum magazine — which jammed — Senate Democrats have offered an amendment to the pending cybersecurity bill that would ban possession of magazines past a maximum 10-round capacity:”

Obama calls for measures against gun violence

“Via Greg Hengler, we’re late to this but it’s still a must-post, simply because it’s one of the great
narrative derailments you’ll ever see on cable. If ever there was a dynamic primed for a gun
control cri de coeur, it’s DNC TV nudging a relative of one of the shooting victims while he’s
still grieving. No one would have faulted him for responding emotionally; instead, he came back
at them with this. His composure and insistence on sticking to principle under the circumstances
are remarkable. “

What a moron . Why would anyone pay for this dolt’s opinions ?

“David Frum at The Daily Beast uses his frustration about the lack of gun control momentum in the aftermath of the Aurora shootings, to take an incoherent swipe at the Republicans attention to the Fast and Furious scandal.

  “The right-wing theory of the
case in the Fast & Furious
scandal is that the Obama
administration hoped to
generate demand for gun
control in the United States by
allowing the export of deadly
guns to Mexico.Yet demand for gun control does not respond even to mass murders inside the United
States. If you were a secret gun-
snatcher, would you ever
imagine that gun crime inside
Mexico would produce a better
result? More plausible conspiracy
theories, please.” “

Despite 40 years of the best efforts of the “Women’s Movement ” it’s refreshing to see that some of the males in America have failed to be emasculated by the feminists.

“As Twitchy reported last night, Navy veteran and beloved father of two, Jon Blunk, died in the Aurora theater shooting while shielding
his girlfriend from bullets. He wasn’t alone; two other men, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves , also died while saving the lives of their girlfriends. “

Gun Control is a loser of an issue for most politicians these days and Thanks be to that ..

” We’ve already seen the sadly inevitable rush to capitalize on the tragedy in Colorado as an excuse to start passing strict gun laws, ranging
from Bloomberg to Rendell and more. But as we sort through the aftermath of the disaster and the victims begin to pick up the pieces, is this opportunism going to result in any new legislation along those lines? One study linked by the AP seems to indicate that the gun grabbing crowd may wind up being disappointed.

Once, every highly publicized outbreak of gun violence produced strong calls from Democrats and a few Republicans for tougher controls on firearms. Now those pleas are muted, a political paradox that’s grown more pronounced in an era scarred by Columbine, Virginia Tech, the wounding of a congresswoman and
now the shooting in a suburban movie theater where carnage is expected on-screen only.”

Twitchy reports that there may be a second ” person of interest “ being sought in the Aurora shooting .

” There was some buzz yesterday about a possible second suspect in the Aurora theater shooting. Tonight, local Denver media outlets are tweeting and reporting on a possible second person of interest in the horrific crime. TV station KDVR reports that police have issued an alert for a man who allegedly called from James Holmes’ phone and “threatened violence” if Holmes is not released.”

100 Percent FED Up

“If any names are to be remembered regarding the tragedy in Aurora let be the names of the victims rather than that of the killer. Please keep their families, friends and the community of Aurora in your prayers.”

More on the desperate desire of the media to tie ideology to tragedy , but only when it endorses their chosen narrative , ie Right/Tea Party -Evil , Left/OWS – Righteous .

Joel Gehrke

“More fundamentally, the search for political alignments is a dishonest attempt to create a
negative impression in the minds of the American populace. Correlation does not equal.causation. Even assuming that these reports of Tea Party allegiances were correct (which they
weren’t), they don’t tell observers much about the Tea Party.”

Yet another reason to relegate the NY Daily News to the same place of honor as the NYT, the bottom of the bird cage .

When a purported “News” source lowers itself to this sort of hyperbolic advocacy it has obviously given up on reporting and gone straight to attempting to legislate .

And the editors and board of directors scratch their heads in wonder at their dwindling market share ?

Good riddance and say hello to Oprah .

“The police chief in Aurora, Colo., said he is confident that massacre gunman James Holmes acted alone. The police chief was dead wrong.
Standing at Holmes’ side as he
unleashed an AR-15 assault rifle and a shotgun and a handgun was Wayne LaPierre, political enforcer of the National Rifle Association.”

Nobody ever says, ‘Where did Maj. Hasan get the ideas that made him want to stand on a table shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and gun down a bunch of people?’” Steyn said. “That is an isolated one-off. It doesn’t have anything to do with any books he might have read or any spiritual advisers he might have listened to. That’s an entirely insulated one-off.”

“The Daily Beast‘s Noah Kristula-Green honors the dead in Aurora by recycling a pro-gun-control post that The Atlantic‘s Richard Florida wrote in the wake of last year’s Tucson massacre. Florida observed that “as of July 29 of last year [2010], Arizona became one of only three states that allows [sic] its citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit,” as if that policy had facilitated Jared Lee Loughner’s shooting rampage. But why would a man bent on mass murder shrink from violating gun laws? It is hard to imagine someone like Loughner thinking, “I really want to kill a bunch of innocent people at a shopping center, but the law says I’m not allowed to carry my guns there.” In any case, the numbers Florida presents to back up his thesis that strict gun laws reduce violence come from 2007, three years before Arizona abolished its carry permit requirement. “

Professor Jacobsen asks :

Why even look for a Tea Party connection?

“With good reason.  There is a recent yet long history of false accusations in the minutes and hours after a high profile act of violence trying to link the perpetrator to the Tea Party and/or to the “right-wing,” including:

Why look for a Tea Party connection?  What violent crimes have been committed by Tea Party members, much less on behalf of or with the knowledge of Tea Party groups?”

Leave it to New York’s nanny in chief to try and make political hay on top of bodies yet to be laid to rest .

Why is it that for every tragedy or senseless act that comes to pass , politician/nannies must use it as an excuse for further state intervention .

Last I knew murder , whether mass or individual was not within the scope of the highest office in the land . Isn’t that what we have police for ?

“Bloomberg has been an outspoken supporter of gun control. “I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day — it’s just got to stop,” he continued. “And instead of the two people — President Obama and Gov. Romney — talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place — OK, tell us how. And this is a real
problem. No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them concretely, not just in generalities — specifically, what are they going to do about guns?” “

Mary Katharine Ham has much info and  many updates regarding the shooting in Aurora and the real suspect , unlike ABC .

Hot Air

“The last post was getting heavy with updates and comments, so here’s a new thread to deal with what, unfortunately, is an inevitable part of every major national tragedy these days— the political scapegoating, usually of the Tea Party.”

Check out her report . It is full of updates and as information rich as any site can be in the immediate aftermath of such a tragic event .

“Update: Four armed service members among those shot, but not killed: “Buckley Air Force
Base is in Aurora, and defense officials told NBC News that two Air Force reservists and two Navy
service members were among those shot.” “
