” Sen. Robert Menendez, who has maintained all along that he never paid prostitutes for sex, said he is looking forward to whatever evidence emerges from courts in the Dominican Republic to vindicate him.
A Dominican lawyer on Monday released an affidavit from a 23-year-old woman saying she fabricated a story about Menendez paying her for sex.
“I’ve always said that these are false, they’re smears,” Menendez, D-N.J., told reporters at the Capitol, referring to published reports that he paid prostitutes for sex in the Dominican Republic. “And, so, I look forward to seeing whatever the Dominican courts have that prove what I’ve said all along.” “
Remember that the prostitution allegations are the ” look , squirrel ” of the Menendez scandal . It’s all about the port deal , access and corruption … not hookers .
“In a video obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama tells an audience of black ministers, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that the U.S. government shortchanged Hurricane Katrina victims because of racism.
“The people down in New Orleans they don’t care about as much!” Obama shouts in the video, which was shot in June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia. By contrast, survivors of Sept. 11 and Hurricane Andrew received generous amounts of aid, Obama explains. The reason? Unlike residents of majority-black New Orleans, the federal government considers those victims “part of the American family.”
The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama’s carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. For nearly 40 minutes, using an accent he almost never adopts in public, Obama describes a racist, zero-sum society, in which the white majority profits by exploiting black America. The mostly black audience shouts in agreement. The effect is closer to an Al Sharpton rally than a conventional campaign event.
“Perhaps it’s a leap too far to suggest that bad behavior by presidential candidates leads to bad behavior by presidents, but given that we have a president who has embraced a whatever-it-takes view of his office, I’m not so sure. If you can campaign however you like, why not govern by asserting whatever authority it takes. If the traditional mores of electioneering are old fashioned, well so too might be the constitutional rules of governance.”
“ Fox News follows up on Eli Lake’s report yesterday:
U.S. intelligence officials knew within 24 hours of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that it was a terrorist attack and suspected Al Qaeda-tied elements were involved, sources told Fox News — though it took the administration a week to acknowledge it.
The account conflicts with claims on the Sunday after the attack by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice that the administration believed the strike was a “spontaneous” event triggered by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islam film.”
“I know, presidents are just people. Bill
Clinton left us with no doubt on that
question. But there is a reason we give
them a mansion to live in and an enormous
airplane to fly around in. There is a reason
Democrats and Republicans alike stand up
and applaud the president when he enters
the House chamber to deliver the State of
the Union address. There is a reason we
shut down traffic and inconvenience tens of
thousands of people every time the
president visits an American city. The
president is not only the most powerful
person in the world, but also a symbol of a
great nation — “a shining city upon a hill,”
as Ronald Reagan famously said. “
“As Ronald Reagan so eloquently put it, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” And while the latest edition of the Fraser Institute’s annual “Economic Freedom of the World Report” does not predict the end of the American economy, it does paint an alarming picture of the loss of our economic freedom during the last decade. From 1980 to 2000, we were the world’s leader among large industrialized nations, only outranked by small economic powerhouses Hong Kong and Singapore. Since the year 2000 we have been in a downward spiral, falling from 3rd, to 7th, and then to 10th last year. With the release of this week’s report, for the first time the United States has fallen out of the top ten — dropping all the way to 18th.”
“Naval expert: Ships shown during Democratic convention tribute to veterans were Russian”
“The Democratic National Convention’s final night included a stirring tribute to America’s veterans from a retired naval four-star admiral, complete with a backdrop of jets flying over a row of proud warships. But convention organizers may soon regret it.
Norman Polmar, author of “The Naval Institute Guide to the Soviet Navy” and other military handbooks, told the Navy Times on Tuesday that the ships were Russian vessels.
“The ships are definitely Russian,” Polmar told the military newspaper. “There’s no question of that in my mind.” The ships depicted in the Democrats’ backdrop had radar designs that the U.S. fleet doesn’t use.”
“Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was widely criticized Wednesday for his outspoken criticism of the Obama administration on its handling of the attacks on U.S. diplomatic stations in Egypt and Libya.
That criticism hasn’t only been coming from campaign operatives, but apparently from the media as well.
The Right Scoop blog captured the audio feed from Romney’s press briefing on the situation Wednesday morning, showing reporters covering Romney working together to base their question on that premise.”
“Former Vice President Dick Cheney took a shot at President Barack Obama late Monday night after it was reported that the president has attended fewer than half of his daily intelligence briefings.
“If President Obama were participating in his intelligence briefings on a regular basis then perhaps he would understand why people are so offended at his efforts to take sole credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden,” Cheney told The Daily Caller in an email through a spokeswoman.”

“Democrats congratulated themselves more than 150 times for President Barack Obama’s 2009 auto bailout during last week’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., an analysis conducted by conservative organization Let Freedom Ring shows.
Obama praised himself for the bailout three times during his Thursday speech, the Let Freedom Ring analysis found. “I’ve met workers in Detroit and Toledo who feared they’d never build another American car,” Obama said, for instance, according to a transcript the White House released after the speech. “And today, they can’t build them fast enough, because we reinvented a dying auto industry that’s back on the top of the world.” “
“A Democratic congresswoman from Brooklyn appears to believe that slavery existed in her district until 1898.
Against the advice of her party’s leadership, Rep. Yvette Clarke appeared on “The Colbert Report” on Tuesday for one of host Stephen Colbert’s occasional “Better Know a District” segments. After getting in a few digs at Brooklyn, Colbert asked Clarke, who is currently serving her third term in the House, what she would say to her district if she could go back to 1898 in a time machine.”
“If I hear one more story of people walking eight miles in the snow, without shoes walking uphill both ways, I’m going start longing for Clint Eastwood spontaneity out here,” Krauthammer said. “And I mean it’s not only scripted in the sense of how the speeches are arranged, having the video but the stories are the same except that sometimes it has a Hispanic tinge, African-American tinge and a slant to it. But that is what everybody suspects that and that is what you get.”
“Obama says he’ll be taking ‘executive actions’ without Congress on ‘regular basis’ to ‘heal the economy’“
” President Barack Obama told an audience in Nevada on Monday that he will be regularly announcing “executive actions” his administration will take to “heal the economy” without the “dysfunctional” Congress.
“I’m here to say to all of you and to say to the people of Nevada and the people of Las Vegas, we can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will,” Obama said.”
” Obama speech to soldiers met with silence”
“The audience’s reaction was so flat that the president tried twice to elicit a reaction from the crowd.
“Hey, I hear you,” he said amid silence.
The selected soldiers who were arrayed behind the president sat quietly throughout the speech.
CNN and MSNBC ended their coverage of the speech before it was half-over. “
