Are Democrats In Denial About Obamacare’s Midterm Consequences?

Dem's 2014 Campaign Slogan

”  Democratic leaders claim the bungled launch of Obamacare is just the latest news sensation — a media-stirred tempest that looks in the heat of the moment like it could upend the midterm election, but ends up fizzling well before voters head to the polls.

Some party strategists say they’re in denial.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said at a forum hosted by BuzzFeed recently that the rollout won’t “hurt us in 2014,” adding that “we’re proud” of the law. Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, in a recent appearance on CNN, went so far as to assert that Obamacare would be “an advantage” for Democratic candidates next year.

“  Democrats will run on the Affordable Care Act and win,” she has also told reporters.

The White House, meanwhile, has come across as equally dismissive of Obamacare’s consequences for 2014.

“The fact is that [the president] is focused on delivering the access to quality and affordable health insurance to the American people that the Affordable Care Act promises. He’s not concerned about the politics of that,” White House press secretary Jay Carney recently said.”

Denial ? What denial ?

Pelosi Taken Apart By David Gregory On False Obamacare Promises

We have to give David Gregory some small measure of credit today . He took a very hard line on the “if you like it , you can keep it” meme that the Dem’s have been singing from the rooftops for the past three years and pushed , pulled and prodded Nancy Pelosi in an effort to get her to own up to the lie , all to no avail . Ms Pelosi was the obstinate denier to the end , employing every verbal contortion imaginable … she comes off as nothing more than a little Goebbels … ” if I just keep repeating it long enough maybe someone will believe me” . What arrogance , what hypocrisy .

One was left with the impression that even Gregory wanted to reach across the table , grab the little fabricator by the throat and call her a liar . We know that was how we felt .

Benghazi Shows Democrats At Most Desperate

” The party that swept into power on promises of transparency and accountability scrambled Wednesday to circle wagons in an extravagant attempt to protect administration officials, the White House and the woman many Democrats hope will be their next nominee for president.

Congressional Democrats strenuously tried covering up the inquiry into the botched handling and dishonest aftermath of the terrorist attack on a U.S. facility in Benghazi that left our ambassador to Libya and three other Americans dead.

It was a performance the likes of which have not been seen in this town since the darkest days of the Iraq War when Republicans on Capitol Hill scraped and scrounged for any sort of defense that could be made of the Bush administration and the mountains of bad news that kept emerging from Iraq.

A Democratic Congress, we were promised back then, would be different. Democrats vowed to be a check on the White House and the administration no matter who was president. Turns out, that was just something that sounded good in the heat of an election campaign.”

President Obama Coldly Reads From Script: Chapter Closes On Boston ‘Tragedy’

” What the president didn’t say speaks volumes. Delivering his lines coldly from a script, Obama made the following self-contradictory statement:

Obviously, tonight there are still many unanswered questions.  Among them, why did young men who grew up and studied here, as part of our communities and our country, resort to such violence?  How did they plan and carry out these attacks, and did they receive any help?  The families of those killed so senselessly deserve answers.

This dastardly act was not ‘senseless’ — it appears to be motivated by the anti-American agenda of apparently sane, well-to-do jihadists from Chechnya. It is a vicious attack, yes. It is a tragedy, fine. But more importantly, it is another jihad-inspired terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

This narrative is inconvenient for the administration and runs directly counter to left-wing explanations for terrorism. Third world terrorists are supposed to be motivated by ‘relative deprivation’ or ‘class disparity.’ Obviously, that’s not the case for these upper class bombing suspects.

Foreign terrorists who strike the nation are supposed to be upset about America attacking their countries and wronging their peoples. Again, these men of Chechen ancestry would more logically attack Russia, rather than the U.S. — which never invaded Chechnya.

Like we saw with the Benghazi terrorist siege, the president is restrained when calling actual terrorism — “terrorism”; meanwhile, ‘terrorism’ language is reflexively invoked to describe those Republicans who want a balanced budget and tea party activists who want to limit our national debt. Tea party ‘terrorists,’ and ‘hostage’-takers are epithets sputtered out by Democrats without thinking or blinking.”

President Obama: There Is No Debt Crisis

” There has been no shortage of dire warnings about the mounting US national debt, but President Obama is now offering a different assessment: no big deal.

We don’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt,” President Obama said in an exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos for “Good Morning America.” “In fact, for the next 10 years, it’s gonna be in a sustainable place.”

It’s an assessment that will throw cold water on the latest attempt to achieve a so-called grand bargain to reduce the deficit. After all, a grand bargain would require excruciatingly difficult decisions for both sides – for Republicans, it would mean raising taxes, and for Democrats, cutting future spending on cherished programs like Social Security and Medicare. If there is no crisis, why would either side do it?

So, what happens if this latest effort to reach a deficit agreement falls through? Once again, the president’s answer was, essentially, no big deal.

“Ultimately, it may be that the differences are just too wide” to get a deal, President Obama said. “That won’t create a crisis. It just means that we will have missed an opportunity.”

No , there is no debt problem

Democrats Complain About Presence Of Debt Clock On Capitol Hill

” Some members of Congress apparently don’t like to be reminded about how much debt the country continues to rack up. Rep.  and  Rep.  both issued complaints about the displays, according to video of the hearing.”

Violent Groups Of Teens Leave NYC Businesses In Ruins

AA New York Flash

” In New York and across the country, the mobs of kids – 20, 30, 40 or more — appear out of nowhere and suddenly charge a newsstand or convenience store.

They ransack, steal and wreak havoc with no consideration for customers, such as Bennett, who get in their way.

“They assemble, they do whatever it is that they’re going to do, and then they disassemble in a matter of minutes,” said Jon Shane, assistant professor of criminal justice at John Jay College. “By the time somebody recognizes what is happening or is injured, if the police are able to respond, it’s slow.”

Teens have destroyed the newsstand on 57th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues so many times that the manager has been forced to shut down completely in the afternoon so he doesn’t lose any more money.”

Meanwhile in Chicago :

Chicago Won’t Respond to 911 Calls

AAA Chicago Flash

” Victims of ‘non-threatening’ crimes such as burglaries, thefts, and simple assault in Chicago will no longer be visited by officers when they call 911.

Chicago police are now enforcing an austere new measure where officers are not dispatched to scenes where the offender has fled and where no one is in immediate danger.
The Windy City is in the middle of both a crime and budget crisis, with sprees of violence erupting, even as first responders are forced to drastically slash their budgets.”

So as you can see in two of the most anti-gun cities in the country the police are only 10-20 minutes away when you need them , if they respond at all , yet you have no right to defend yourselves . But the elitists do …

Update : Add Seattle To The List …

SEATTLE IN DENIAL ABOUT BLACK MOBS

” Hundreds of flash robs around the country are just some of the examples of black mob lawlessness documented in the book “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence and how the media ignore it.

Denying black mob lawlessness is a popular past time: Seattle has “fewer problems with racism than other cities,” says the blog So Seattle. “Ethnic tensions … seem less tangible.”

Seattle may not have the day-in, day-out, racial violence of a Chicago, or the peculiar racial anarchy of small-town Peoria. But more and more people are paying attention to the increasingly visible and brutish mayhem groups of black people are visiting on a pregnant woman, veterans, old people, young people, “gay” people, Asians and everyone in between. Right there in good old Seattle.

Let’s start with 17-year-old, pregnant Jessica Redmon-Beckstead. She was riding the bus with her boyfriend when five black women started to taunt, attack, kick, punch and rob her.”

You can’t be trusted to protect yourselves so let the professionals handle it . Wait for the police … and wait … and wait …

… “We Don’t Have a Spending Problem”

” The truth hurts, especially when you’re coming awfully close to being crowned Captain Six Trillion.  Steve Moore’s exclusive sit-down with House Speaker John Boehner reveals that the president is indeep ideological denial, and can get a bit testy when confronted with the facts: “

” It is a unambiguous fact that the federal government has a spending problem.  Mitch McConnell, Boehner, Pat Toomey and others are right to declare the revenues debate “resolved.”  Obama got his soak-the-rich tax wish, with no new spending restraint in return.  And for the record, even if Uncle Sam brings in every penny of projected revenue, it’ll only amount to about $600 billion over ten years.  The newly-discovered Social Security math error works out to $800 billion.  So 3/4 of that additional shortfall could be satisfied via this tax hike…if it hasn’t already been exhausted on brand new expenditures.  I’ll leave you with four pieces of empirical data.  (1) The brutal numbers, via two members of President Clinton’s bipartisan commission on entitlement reform: “

“4) This verbatim statement, via President Barack H. Obama:

By the end of this decade, the interest we owe on our debt could rise to nearly $1 trillion. Just the interest payments. Then, as the Baby Boomers start to retire and health care costs continue to rise, the situation will get even worse. By 2025, the amount of taxes we currently pay will only be enough to finance our health care programs, Social Security, and the interest we owe on our debt. That’s it. Every other national priority – education, transportation, even national security – will have to be paid for with borrowed money.

If the president can survey this array of data and make his ‘no spending problem’ claim with a straight face, then I’m afraid he has a reality problem.  But if he’s willing to acknowledge the basic arithmetic, then what’s his meaningful solution to eliminating — or even significantly reducing — that debt, as illustrated in item three?  “

President Obama in Denial: We Don’t Have a Spending Problem

” “At one point several weeks ago,” Mr. Boehner told Wall Street Journal writer Stephen Moore, “the president said to me, ‘We don’t have a spending problem.’ “

Such began the divinely timed epiphany of Speaker Boehner that the president is an ideologue who perhaps can’t be reasoned with. Thus, the Speaker’s eyes were opened during the fiscal cliff negotiations that the president is out to draw political blood on Republicans, and really isn’t all-too-concerned about compromise. Well, unless you consider “compromise” making an outrageous offer and then getting 90% of what he wants. “

Union Protesters Called Hot Dog Vendor “Uncle Tom” And “N*gger” But You Won’t Hear About It In The Mainstream Media

Union Racism

” The mainstream media is silent about the union violence in general because it does not fit their narrative, and the racist conduct of the union members is off limits.  “Progressives” are spreading conspiracy theories that this all was staged.

We ask this question time and again — What if the Tea Party had done this?

[FYI, the Stranahan post at Breitbart refers to someone in a Guy Fawkes / Occupy style mask.  I captured that image from a video in my earlier post.  The images also are here and here.] “

What Happens If Obama Loses?

image

” The Politico takes an interesting look at what kind of blamestorming will occur if Obama loses on Tuesday

A defeat for Barack Obama on
Tuesday would be no ordinary loss
for Democrats.

It would be a traumatic experience: the death of the dream of liberal realignment embodied in Obama’s insurgent 2008 campaign. And it would be all the more distressing to Democrats because so many of them fervently believe they will win tomorrow. “

Via Meadia

“The office of the Director of National Intelligence is both confirming that the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi was deliberately planned in advance and excusing the White House for getting the story wrong. Officials are trying to determine if a mysterious, little known organization called “Al-Qaeda” had something to do with the attack. This doesn’t seem likely, as Al-Qaeda was reported dead or at least in what former Vice President Cheney would have called its “death throes” in Pakistan last spring, but you never know.”

Deficit Denial

100 Percent FED Up

Reason Magazine

“The party of government refuses to even entertain the possibility that we can no longer afford it”

“The speeches at last night’s kickoff of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte were notable less for what they contained and more for what they did not: any engagement with the issue of having a debt load (of $16 trillion) that is now larger than GDP, of having a long-forecasted entitlement time bomb marching northward toward 100 percent of federal spending, of having underfunded obligations in the trillions of dollars promised by politicians addicted to handing out “free” benefits.”

   “The man with no plan.”

“Our elites have sunk into a boutique decadence of moral preening entirely disconnected from reality: A non-homophobic chicken in every pot, an abortifacient dispenser in every Catholic university, a high-speed-rail corridor between every two bankrupt California municipalities . . . “

What a moron . Why would anyone pay for this dolt’s opinions ?

“David Frum at The Daily Beast uses his frustration about the lack of gun control momentum in the aftermath of the Aurora shootings, to take an incoherent swipe at the Republicans attention to the Fast and Furious scandal.

  “The right-wing theory of the
case in the Fast & Furious
scandal is that the Obama
administration hoped to
generate demand for gun
control in the United States by
allowing the export of deadly
guns to Mexico.Yet demand for gun control does not respond even to mass murders inside the United
States. If you were a secret gun-
snatcher, would you ever
imagine that gun crime inside
Mexico would produce a better
result? More plausible conspiracy
theories, please.” “
