Albert Jay Nock on casting his first ( and only ) ballot .
” My first and only presidential vote was cast many, many years ago. It was dictated by pure instinct. I remember the circumstances well. Like all well-brought-up youngsters, I had been told that it was the duty of every citizen to vote — reasons not stated. I was prepared to obey in all good faith, and accordingly, when the time came, I set forth to the polls.
But what was I to vote for? An issue? There was none. You could not get a sheet of cigarette-paper between the official positions of the two parties. A candidate? Well, who were they? Both of them seemed to me to be mediocre timeserving fellows who would sell out their immortal souls, if they had any, for a turn at place and power, and throw in their risen Lord for good measure. Suddenly, the ridiculous truth of the matter struck me: that the whole campaign was based on no political reason at all, but on an astronomical reason. We were voting simply because, since the time we last voted, the earth had gone 1461 times around the sun, or some such number, and for no other reason in the world. As I approached the polls my resentment of this nonsense grew stronger and stronger, and when I arrived I deliberately wrote in a vote for Jefferson Davis of Mississippi.”
“A national voter fraud watchdog group announced Tuesday that it has uncovered at least 31 cases of absentee ballot fraud in New York and Florida — a finding the group claims is “just the tip of the iceberg.”
True the Vote, a group that focuses on voter fraud, said it turned over 31 cases to state and federal election authorities in which individuals cast their votes in two states in the same federal election — which is a felony.
Logan Churchwell, a spokesman for the group, told FoxNews.com that the organization accessed Florida’s complete voter registration roll and cross-referenced it against 10 percent of New York’s list. It identified more than 1,700 people with voter registrations in both states. Of that number, 31 people allegedly voted in both states during the same federal election cycle”
“Reporters have been trying to help Barack Obama limp across the finish line by creating a daily distraction to divert attention from the Obama administration’s awful record. Whenever possible, they have trumpeted the claim that Mitt Romney has committed one gaffe or another, that he is falling behind in the (bogus) polls, that his campaign is in disarray, and he is basically doomed.”
Here we are shown the Greek crisis for what it is . Hardly the main event …. Much more are their miseries and suffering , self-inflicted though they are , just the opening act for the main event forming up backstage as we speak .
Yes … We refer to Italy and Spain . Both with their own variety of the same basic tax&spend malady and nary a physician in sight .
There are lessons here for November should we choose to face the reality of our situation . With America only baby steps behind the PIIGS , will the electorate become fully aware of the financial cliff rushing towards us , not-withstanding the MSM’s/Dems (oxymoron?) lemming like drive FORWARD …..
“The third and final reason why the relief rally ended so quickly: Greece was the curtain raiser for the European meltdown, but it is ultimately a sideshow. Europe has moved on now; we are worried about Spain and Italy now. The Greek election doesn’t solve any of Europe’s real problems. Greece can and probably will make Europe’s problems worse, but nothing that
happens in Greece can save the euro.
As interest rates on Italian debt passed 6 percent (the crisis threshold) and for Spain they
passed 7 percent (apocalyptic), Europe edged a little closer to the precipice this morning. The
Greek election went as well as could be expected, and better than feared, but Europe’s problems just keep getting worse all the same.”
Contrast these two offerings from the Romney campaign so thoughtfully brought to our attention by America Power .
As it is Flag day we will start off with the positive uplifting video , which we here found quite moving .
This is a fine example of how to win this race and set our country back on the right track . Though the news these days is quite grim on most fronts , the candidate that wants to win will have to portray a brighter future and an optimistic attitude which Romney seems quite capable of .
But there is also the need , when one is to do battle with a opponent that acknowledges no limits such as Team Obama , to take off the gloves and hammer your foe unmercifully .
Thankfully , Romney seems to understand how to play rough as well . Good for him , good for US .
