Texas Votes 100-47 To Nullify Unconstitutional Federal Gun Control Laws

” The state of Texas continues to fight back hard against federal  intrusions, especially in the area of gun control as President Obama and some  Washington lawmakers push for new laws infringing upon the Second Amendment’s  right of Americans to keep and bear arms.

Gun rights advocates in the state have  applauded the measure, saying it would serve as a bulwark against future  erosions of the Second Amendment within Texas. What’s more, many are pointing to  recent comments by Fox News legal analyst and contributor Judge Andrew  Napolitano that such widespread noncompliance with new federal gun  control statutes would make them “nearly impossible to enforce.”

Why A Fox News Reporter’s First Amendment Battle Should Trouble All Americans

” Why are you not up in arms, New York Times and Washington Post? Why so quiet, Cleveland Plain Dealer and Sacramento Bee? Weekly newspaper editors, students at the Columbia School of Journalism, government employees who have quietly revealed wrongdoing to reporters – why are you not raising hell about what is happening to Fox News investigative reporter Jana Winter?

Winter is currently facing a jail sentence for refusing to reveal the sources who provided her with alleged Aurora shooter James Holmes’ notebook, which he had sent to a psychiatrist and which was”full of details about how he was going to kill people.” Holmes’ defense attorneys subpoenaed Winter to testify about who told her about the notebook and a Colorado judge has said that he will rule on April 10th whether Winter must reveal her source or face jail time for refusing to testify.

That Winter is even in this position should send a chill down the spine of anyone who has ever read a piece of investigative journalism.”

GREG GUTFELD FIRES BACK AT JIM CARREY’S GUN TIRADE, CALLS COMIC A ‘DIRTY, STINKING COWARD’

Here Is The Video From Carrey

” Carrey’s song, published at the reliably humorless Funny or Die web site, takes aim at Heston’s pro-gun stance as well as anyone who clings to the right to bear arms.

Heston isn’t around to answer Carrey’s insulting attack, but Gutfeld wasn’t afraid to respond. His retort, first heard on Fox News’ The Five, mocked both Carrey’s politically correct targets as well as the comedian’s past fear-mongering over vaccine use.”

Benghazi-gate Cover-up: Fox News’ Catherine Herridge Receives AIM’s Reed Irvine Award

” Six months after a terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya, survivors of the savagery that left four Americans dead the night of Sept. 11, 2012, still have not been permitted to tell their story in a public forum. So now, lawmakers on Capitol Hill are threatening to subpoena them.

Catherine Herridge, longtime reporter for Fox News, received Accuracy in Media’s Reed Irvine Award for investigative reporting on that scandal. The White House is desperately trying to put a lid on the whole thing, hoping that no one is compelled to testify as to whether it is true, as alleged, that the president, in the midst of his re-election campaign, watched the four Americans die and then went to bed.

The Accuracy in Media award event is an annual affair. The late AIM founder Reed Irvine, in whose honor the recognition is bestowed, was an investigator in his own right. Actually, he did not start out as a journalist. He was a respected economist for the Federal Reserve Board.

From that vantage point, he would have seen much that went on in the world that was being distorted or ignored by the dinosaur media. When he – as a citizen – called them out on their dereliction, he was shooed away or given the run-around. Irvine’s response, in so many words, was on the order of “OK, if you guys won’t do your job, I’ll do it for you.” And he did. That, to make a long story short, is how AIM was born.”

MSNBC: 85% OPINION/COMMENTARY

” Pew Research has a new State of the Media 2013 report which finds that MSNBC’s output contains far more opinion than news. This chart shows the balance at all three cable networks:”

” The methodology Pew used was to survey stories and categorize them based on the percentage of information vs. opinion. Any story which contained 25 percent opinion or more was labeled commentary/opinion, while a story with less was labeled “factual reporting.” “

Liberal Media Will ‘Shut You Down, Stab You, Kill You, Fire You’ If You Disagree

“I always thought it was the Archie Bunkers of the world, the right-wingers of world, who were more resistant and more closed-minded about hearing the other side,” he said. “In fact, what I have learned is, in a very painful way — and I can open this shirt and show you the scars and the knife wounds — is that it is big media institutions who are identifiably more liberal to left-leaning who will shut you down …”

3-Year-Old With Spina Bifida Endures Ridiculous TSA Screening

” Because there’s nothing more threatening than a disabled tot in a hot-pink wheelchair and Velcro sneakers, TSA agents singled out 3-year-old Lucy, who has spina bifida, for extra screening at Lambert-St. Louis Airport in Missouri. Irritated parents Nathan and Annie Forck kept the camera rolling, despite agents insisting filming was illegal.”

Rand Paul To Introduce Bill Nullifying Obama’s Executive Orders On Guns

While it may only be symbolic it’s heartening to know that someone in DC is paying attention .

Via the Daily Caller, a teaser for his appearance on “Hannity” later tonight. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that a guy who just visited Israel and is now talking about blocking executive overreach on gun-grabbing just might be running for president in 2016.

The bill will go nowhere but conservatives will appreciate the gesture:

“I’m told Sen. Rand Paul will introduce language within hours, within hours, to call for the nullification and prohibition of funding for the president’s executive actions announced today and possibly even using the federal courts to nullify and defund some of the things that he plans on doing,” [Fox News host Eric] Bolling said.

[A] Capitol Hill source told TheDC that Paul’s legislation is expected to do three things: nullify Obama’s executive orders, defund them and ask the Senate to file a court challenge to them.

At the very least, if he can figure out a way to bring this to the floor, it’ll be fun to see how Democrats whose seats are up next year will vote on it. Word on the Hill is that Reid might not even force a vote on the assault-weapons ban lest it prove too difficult for red-state Dems’ reelection campaigns. (According to aCNN poll released today, the recent surge of support for gun control is already starting to fade.)

Teacher Stomps on American Flag inside Classroom

” A South Carolina school district has launched an investigation into a high school teacher who allegedly threw an American flag on the floor and stomped on it as a classroom full of students watched.

Mark Bounds, a spokesman for the Lexington –Richland5 School District, confirmed to Fox News that an English teacher at Chapin High School was placed on leave as they investigate the incident.

“There were allegations that at a teacher took a flag down from the post in the classroom and stepped on that flag as part of the lesson,” Bounds said, indicating the act was repeated in several other classes. “It was not a spontaneous act, but one he worked into the lesson.”

He said there was “sufficient evidence that the teacher needed to be put on administrative leave and a full investigation needed to take place.”

Bounds said they could not provide additional information because it was a personnel matter – but he stressed that the school district took the matter extremely seriously.

“We have a very patriotic community with many military veterans,” he said. “Fort Jackson, the largest training base in the world is part of our community and you can see why this is especially important.”

Michael Copeland’s daughter was in the classroom when the incident occurred. He told television stationWIS that the teacher’s actions were disrespectful and unpatriotic. “

Laura Ingraham Replaced By Fox’s Younger Tantaros

Andrea Tantaros

Laura Ingraham‘s former radio show on Talk Radio Network Entertainment is going on a youth kick, today announcing that Fox News Channel’s Andrea Tantaros will get the 9 a.m-noon slot. She will be joined by Jason Mattera, the youngest editor ever of conservative Human Events. “

Look For Health Care Bottlenecks

“But don’t worry, it’s totally secure. Carl Smith Jr. was the first physician in Harlan County, Kentucky, to introduce EHR. “Because of this technology,” Dr. Smith says, “we can send the patient’s prescription electronically by secure email to pharmacies.”

Wow! “Secure email” – what a concept! It’s a good thing the email is secure at American pharmacies because nothing else is. Last Christmas, while guest-hosting at Fox News in New York, I had a spot of ill health and went to pick up a prescription at Duane Reade on Sixth Avenue. The woman ahead of me was having some difficulties. She was a stylish lady d’un certain age, and she caught my wandering eye. After prolonged consultation with the computer, the “pharmacist” informed her (and the rest of us within earshot) that her insurer had approved her Ortho but denied her Valtrex. I was thinking of asking her for cocktails at the Plaza, when I noticed the other women in line tittering. It seems that Ortho is a birth-control pill, and Valtrex is a herpes medication.

So good luck retaining any meaningful doctor-patient confidentiality in a system in which more people – insurers, employers, government commissars, TSA Obergropinführers, federal incentive-program auditors – will be able to access your medical records than in any other nation on Earth.”

While We Seldom Find Ourselves In Agreement With Morgan Freeman , This Is Spot On .

Morgan Freeman’s brilliant take on what happened yesterday :
” “You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here’s why.

It’s because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he’ll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN’s article says that if the body count “holds up”, this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I’ve seen yet. Because they don’t sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you’ve just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.” “

Update : This may or may not be attributable to Mr Freeman . Either way there is no denying the correctness of the sentiment .

Krauthammer on the ‘Fiscal Cliff’

“Famed Washington Post journalist and political pundit Charles Krauthammer was a guest on Fox News’ Special Report on Thursday and he offered some pretty bold, but sage advice regarding the fiscal cliff.

Krauthammer claimed,

“It’s not just a bad deal, this is really an insulting deal. What Geithner offered, what you showed on the screen, Robert E. Lee was offered easier terms at Appomattox, and he lost the Civil War. The Democrats won by three percent of the vote, and they did not hold the House. Republicans won the House. So this is not exactly unconditional surrender, but that is what the administration is asking of the Republicans.

This idea – there are not only no cuts in this, there’s an increase in spending with a new stimulus. I mean, this is almost unheard of. I mean, what do they expect? They obviously expect the Republicans will cave on everything. I think the Republicans ought to simply walk away. The president is the president. He’s the leader. They are demanding that the Republicans explain all the cuts that they want to make.” “

… TO ‘RECYCLE’ MONEY BACK TO DONORS

” Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute, said President Barack Obama had a “recycling” program that used crony capitalism to reward its campaign contributors, who would then funnel money back to the Obama campaign.

Appearing on Fox News’s one-hour special on Thursday about the “District of Corruption” movie, Schweizer said crony capitalism was so rampant in the Obama administration that Obama campaign bundlers received more than $21,000 on average in government-backed loans and grants for every dollar they contributed to the Obama campaign.

Schweizer said the Obama administration treated taxpayer dollars as “gift bags” to give to its top donors, which he called “the Obama recycling program.” “
