Off-Grid Community ‘The Citadel Project’ Gets Thumbs Up To Manufacture Firearms

Citadel layout concept

” A company called III Arms has just received ATF approval to manufacture firearms. Setting up a gun manufacturer is just a small part of III Arms’ plan, which is to establish a completely self-sufficient community in the mountains of Idaho.

It will be called “The Citadel” and include a walled urban center—10 feet thick by 20 feet high and four miles long—surrounded by rural plots for farming. It is, to turn a phrase, a planned prepper community.

Despite being armed and armored, the Citadel isn’t being made to defend its people from military or government action, rather, it’s intended to be a safe haven for forward-thinkers to weather a social, economic or environmental collapse. It is at the leading edge of anti-establishment living, but it “is not designed to withstand any direct .mil or .gov attack. Nor is the Citadel, in any manner, attempting to provoke any government entity,” according to the project FAQ.

III Arms began taking pre-orders for AR-15 rifles and 1911 handguns last November anticipating the FFL. Both have pre-order prices of $1,550, reflecting the difficulty of making small batches of firearms and current market trends.”

This is a giant first step towards self-sufficiency for the proposed “off-grid” community which we have posted on before .

Republican Senators Sponsor “Michigan Firearms Freedom Act”

” A bill proposed by 13 Republican senators in Michigan would seek to sidestep any new potential federal regulations regarding guns by granting an exception to any such laws for firearms made in the state itself. The bill would also exempt ammunition and gun accessories that were made in Michigan from federal regulation, according to reports by the Detroit Free Press and other media outlets on Friday.

The bill is scheduled for consideration by a state Senate committee this coming Wednesday. Some legal experts have already stated that the bill, if passed, may well be more of a “symbolic” gesture by state Republicans than a binding piece of legislation, according to the Detroit Free Press report.

According to a website that tracks copies of the “Firearms Freedom Act,” some version of the bill has already been introduced in approximately 22 states. An additional eight states have already passed their own version of the bill, including Tennessee, Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona, and Utah.”

Fortress: Plans for the Citadel, which is to be funded by an arms factory, include two perimeter walls with 18 watchtowers and further walled sections for residential areas

” Hundreds of families have signed up to join a new community dubbed the Citadel, an armed and ‘defensible’ fortress city where their freedoms and liberty will be fiercely protected.

Organisers have outlined plans for a community of 3,500 to 7,000 families of ‘patriotic’ Americans in western Idaho living and more than 200 have already signed up through their website.

The group has already purchased 20 acres in the area where they intend to build an arms factory which will be used to fund the project. “

A Small Business Party

We’ve been told the Republican Party must recalibrate all its positions following an election in which very little changed. We’ve been lectured on abortion after exit polls showed voters were motivated by the economy. We’ve watched various big-government “conservatives” crawl out from under rocks murmuring the usual incantations against the Tea Party. And we’ve endured a video of Meghan McCain saying she “hates” Karl Rove being praised as some sort of avant garde one-woman stage show.

As a friend of mine exclaimed a few days ago, “We lost one election!” It was a stinging loss at a crucial time, to be sure. But it hardly portends the extinction of conservatism.

That being said, there’s one voice in the cacophony that’s worth a listen. Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) said this on Meet the Press this past Sunday:

[W]e believe in small government, but we also believe in the individual. There are too many Republicans here in Washington, DC, and they are actually defending big business. They are defending the rich. I didn’t become a Republican to defend the rich. And– and what we need to understand is that big business loves big government, because they get all the goodies from big government. They get more– they get less competition. The more that government grows, the more that big business actually benefits from the tax code and from the regulations.

Rules for Roadkill

File this under rules for everything .  Idaho has just issued new rules for dealing with roadkill . Just when you thought there was one single thing that government had not decreed up pops yet another rule , regulation or law .

“BOISE — When it comes to road kill, new rules approved during Idaho’s recent legislative session is regulating how people handle it.
Game animals may now be salvaged, as long as they died as a result of an accidental vehicle
collision. People who want to remove a dead animal on
the road must notify the Idaho Department of Fish and Game within 24 hours. “
