” Welcome back from the long holiday weekend, Daily Caller readers. As you settle into the rest of the summer, take a moment to laugh at these young, almost certainly drunk and possibly stoned American college kids who know nothing about the origins of the country.
YouTube pranking crew Whatever is behind the video. The interviews occurred on July 4th in student-ridden Isla Vista, California, where a typical resident attends the University of California, Santa Barbara or, perhaps, Santa Barbara City College.
“It’s July 4th today and I’m going to be asking people a little bit about the history of July 4th,” explains the narrator at the outset of the clip.”

” In a radio appearance on Friday, Bloomberg, a gun control activist and co-chair of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, praised the legislation that is now moving forward in the Senate. The bill would require universal background checks for most sales of firearms, including those online and at gun shows.
“The only thing it would not cover is if you sold a gun to your son, for example,” Bloomberg told radio host John Gambling. “Number one, I don’t know how we would ever enforce that if it were the law. So to make a big deal about that’s carved out, so what? It doesn’t change anything.”
“Number two, I would argue if you want to sell your gun to your son, maybe you have a problem in your family,” he said. “Why don’t you just give—I don’t know if you should have a gun or not, but if you have a commercial transaction of $100 with your son, there’s something wrong in your family.”
We would just point out Mr Mayor , number one … That most guns cost a lot more than $100 , and , number two … that most families are not quite so moneyed as yours . We gun-owners are mostly not of the 1% like yourself and consequently may not be able to afford to just “give away” things , even to family members .
And that’s not to even mention the life lesson taught by parent to child about having to work for things that you want . Your ignorance of the common folk rivals that of the rest of the ruling class in Albany and DC .
” Our own Ignorance is destroying us. Mark Twain wrote in his autobiography:
“In religion and politics people’s beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”
That is what has been going on in our Country for a very long time. Our “intellectuals” can’t think; our “scholars” parrot each other; the self-educated fixate on idiotic theories; no one studies original source writings; and The People jump on every bandwagon that rolls by.
In order to write intelligently on our Constitution, one needs to have studied and understood the original source writings of our Framers. No matter what your educational level, if you don’t know what is in our Declaration of Independence and federal Constitution; and if you are not familiar from personal study with The Federalist Papers, The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions of 1798, Madison’s Report on the Virginia Resolutions (1799-1800), and Madison’s Notes on Nullification (1834), among other original source writings, then you have no business writing about these issues. “

” Anyway, those two headlines reminded me of this one: Washington’s Economic Boom Financed by You
So, if the educated, literate and monied people are all going to be congregating around the “Capital City” and illiteracy (and the eventual poverty it will bring) are to be acceptable alternatives for some of us, then we are well on our way to living out The Hunger Games in all of its blithe vulgarity and hardscrabble pain.
The other thing that crossed my twitter timeline concerned the Killer Cop story about a Los Angeles police officer who is rampaging and murdering, and whose pro-gun control 21 page manifesto gives pally shout outs to Hillary Clinton, Chris Matthews, Barack Obama, (the cop loves Michelle Obama’s new bangs!) Charlie Sheen, and others. The manifesto and his bizarre addresses to public figures in news, entertainment and politics gives a sense that he’s lost touch with reality, of course, but so many of his references were television-related that I couldn’t help thinking, “this is your brain on non-stop pop-culture/political news.” I can imagine his ideological mirror writing similar praises to Limbaugh or Krauthammer. Madness precipitated by too much fantasy, too much glam-lionization of drug-addled, doltish celebrities, too much reality-obfuscating propaganda disguised as news.
We’re in a lot of trouble. The Washington Post wonders, Are we in the End Times of Trust in Government?
Oh, yes. But I think we’re also in the End Times of being able to rescue ourselves from this headlong tumble we’re taking as a nation willing to be lied to, comfortable with fakery and content to caricature and sneer at the people trying to preserve basic freedoms.”
This brings to mind our old standby video by the Rainmakers …

New survey data suggest most Americans don’t know which guns are covered by the ban they support.
There is a case to be made that the public has been , and continues to be , misled as to what these ” assault weapons ” really are by the very organizations (MSM) charged with informing them of the truth .
” Although arbitrary distinctions are a defining characteristic of “assault weapon” bans, recent polls indicate that most Americans support them. New survey data suggest one possible explanation: Most Americans don’t know what “assault weapons” are.
The more cynical among us , ourselves included , would maintain that this deception is in fact a deliberate attempt to hoodwink the public in pursuit of the statist agenda to which the dinosaur media adhere .
” A Reason-Rupe Public Opinion Survey conducted this month suggests such misconceptions are common. After asking the 1,000 respondents if they thought people should be “prohibited from owning assault weapons,” the survey (which is sponsored by my employer, the Reason Foundation) asked half of the sample to “describe an assault weapon.” The answers are illuminating.
About two-thirds of the respondents described “assault weapons” as guns that fire rapidly, guns that can fire a large number of rounds without reloading, guns with a lot of “power,” or guns used by the military. More than a quarter described them as “machine guns,” “automatics,” or the equivalent (e.g., “multiple rounds with just one pull of the trigger”).“

It’s shocking to consider that we are paying tens of thousands of dollars each to have our children “educated” by the likes of this man .
” Dishonest academic defenders of University of Rhode Island assistant history professor Erik Loomis have repeated the professor’s false assertion that he was criticized merely for using “metaphor” in hisunhinged Dec. 14 attacks on the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre.
One critic has decscribed the petition on behalf of Loomis, although ostensibly a defense of free speech rights, as a ”campaign to dominate debate and suppress criticism.”
In fact, Loomis’s “head on a stick” Tweet was just one of many offensive messages he sent on Dec. 14. “

” The Old Media establishment has done a disservice to an American public heartbroken over the murders at a Connecticut grade school by reporting untrue “facts” over and over again and by using emotionally tinged phrases that do not relay fact but instead push an agenda.
Here are just a few of the badly garbled “facts” in this story that the media rushed to “report” before any truth was put to them.
Of course, the very first major mix up was the shooter’s name.
Also from the beginning, the murderer was reported as having strode through the school with a .223-caliber rifle, often referred to by the media here as an “assault weapon.”
Lanza is also being said to have been wearing “combat gear.” What does this even mean?
Some reporters are calling the killer’s mother an “avid gun collector.” There is no basis for this label.
