The TSA Is So Incompetent, It Can’t Even Make A URL

” In the latest bout of brilliance handed down from the Transportation Security Administration, more frequent fliers and other elite passengers will soon be eligible for something called “expedited screening benefits.” Features include special screening lanes and the luxury of not having to remove your shoes and belt like a common terrorist.
OK, all of that is rather uninteresting—unless you’re the kind of person who thinks programs like the Cedar Point VIP Tour are grossly classist.* (I do.) What’s interesting about TSA Pre✓™—which launched on a small scale in 2011 but is now expanding—is that it’s nearly impossible to go directly to the website by typing in the site’s Web address—because the checkmark and trademark characters are actually part of the URL.”

With ‘Deals’ Like Fiscal Cliff, Who Needs Societal Collapse?

” No epiphanies in Washington: the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the latest triumphant deal includes $2 billion of cuts for fiscal year 2013. Wow! That’s what the government of the United States borrows every 10 hours and 38 minutes. Spending two months negotiating 10 hours of savings is like driving to a supermarket three states away to save a nickel on your grocery bill.
A space alien on Planet Zongo whose cable package includes “Meet The Press” could watch 10 minutes of these pseudo-cliffhangers and figure out how they always end, every time: Spending goes up, and the revenue gap widens.
This latest painstakingly negotiated bipartisan deal to restore fiscal responsibility actually includes a third of a trillion dollars in new spending. A third of a trillion! $330,000,000,000! Fancy that! In most countries, a third of a trillion would be a lot of money. But in the U.S. it’s chump change so footling it’s barely mentioned in the news reports “

TSA Creating New Watch List For Passengers Not Concerning Enough To Be On Bloated No-Fly List

” If Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the government’s various lists weren’t ludicrous enough as is, the number of individuals harassed will be increased significantly thanks to a new list specifically for “low risk” passengers as revealed in a recently released Federal Register newsletter.
While this appears to be focused mostly on airline flights, one must wonder if such lists will also be used when the TSA invades locations outside of airports around the entirety of the United States. After all, at least one college student has been harassed, detained and interrogated when traveling via train simply for engaging in Islamic studies.
It must also be mentioned that the claims that this will increase security are simply laughable since the TSA really has no interest in security evidenced by airport employees being allowed to work without background checks and the fact that an illegal immigrant was somehow able to work as an airport security supervisor for a whopping 20 years without being caught.”

Airport Security Is Making Americans Less Safe

” The TSA was created to replace the patchwork of private security companies that handled airport security in the pre-9/11 era. Its budget quickly ballooned: Since 2002 the number of TSA agents has risen from 16,000 to more than 50,000. Still, to a traumatized public, any amount of overreaction in the name of preventing another terrorist attack seemed acceptable.
More than a decade later, it’s time to move on. For one thing, the attention paid to terrorism in the U.S. is out of proportion to the relative threat it presents. Since 2000 the chance that the death of a U.S. resident resulted from a terrorist attack was 1 in 3.5 million, according to John Mueller and Mark Stewart of Ohio State and the University of Newcastle, respectively. Out of the 150,000 murders in the U.S. between 9/11 and the end of 2010, Islamic extremism accounted for fewer than three dozen. In fact, extremist Islamic terrorism resulted in just 200 to 400 annual deaths worldwide, outside the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq—the same number, notes Mueller, that occur in bathtubs in the U.S. each year.
Yet the TSA still commands a budget of nearly $8 billion—leaving the agency with too many officers and not enough to do. The TSA’s “Top Good Catches of 2011,” reported on its blog, did include 1,200 firearms and—their top find—a single batch of C4 explosives (though that payload was discovered only on the return flight). A longer list of the TSA’s confiscations would include a G.I. Joe action doll’s 4-inch plastic rifle (“it’s a replica”) and a light saber toy. For all the face cream, breast milk, and live fish that vigilant screeners collected in airport security lines last year, the TSA didn’t spot a single terrorist trying to board an airline in the U.S. “

” The picture shows members of ‘Occupy Sandy’ – an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement – doing FEMA’s job for them. It’s an illustration of how big government has once again failed to accomplish the very task its supporters ascribe to it – taking care of people.
Indeed, FEMA has not only failed to sufficiently help east coast residents hit by the devastating hurricane – some of them were forced to go dumpster diving for food – the federal agency has in fact blocked relief efforts just as it did during Hurricane Katrina back in 2005.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has ordered Shelter Island residents to “stop” donating goods bound for Island Park and Long Beach. It’s not that the goods, including clothing and other items, are not needed, indeed they were “gone in 48 hours” according to one volunteer – it’s the fact that FEMA refuses to relinquish power on deciding how they are distributed.
FEMA instead insists that people donate cash to organizations like the Red Cross, which has been caught over and over again stealing donations and is riddled with corruption. “

… Not Moderation

” If Mitt Romney had lost the election solely because of Ohio, I would be lamenting his lack of a populist appeal. Or, if he had lost Florida narrowly, I might be writing about how Gary Johnson played spoiler.
Instead, I’m writing about an identity crisis.
Make no mistake, the GOP faces serious challenges going forward. This wasn’t “just a loss.” “

Tea Party Nation

” Republicans held Congressional hearings yesterday on the disaster at the Benghazi Consulate that killed four Americans. If the Republicans did not control Congress, these hearings would never have happened.
These hearings exposed the shocking truth, not the propaganda the Obama Regime wanted us to believe. What is the truth about Benghazi?
The truth is the Obama Regime lied. The truth is Benghazi was the result of Obama policies in the Middle East. The truth is the Obama Regime, instead of acting like America is a superpower, tried instead to appease savages.
The truth is the Obama Regime knew within hours this was a terrorist attack. Even as they deliberately lied to the American people, they knew what was really behind the attack. They blamed the attack on the actions of a filmmaker and decried the freedom that makes America great.
At the time they knew they were sitting on a time bomb. The truth is the boots on the ground warned the political appointees of the Obama Regime that help was needed. They told Washington more security was needed. They protested the withdrawal of security and support personnel.”
“Multiple Pleas” For “More, Not Less” Security Staff

” The former head of a Special Forces “Site Security Team” in Libya tells CBS News that in spite of multiple pleas from himself and other U.S. security officials on the ground for “more, not less” security personnel, the State Department removed as many as 34 people from the country in the six months before a terrorist attack in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others.
Lt. Col. Andy Wood will appear this week at a House Oversight Committee hearing that will examine security decisions leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi.
Speaking to CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson, Wood said when he found out that his own 16-member team and a six-member State Department elite force were being pulled from Tripoli in August – about a month before the assault in Benghazi – he felt, “like we were being asked to play the piano with two fingers. There was concern amongst the entire embassy staff.”
He said other staffers approached him with their concerns when the reduction in security personnel was announced.
“They asked if we were safe,” he told Attkisson. “They asked… what was going to happen, and I could only answer that what we were being told is that they’re working on it – they’ll get us more (security personnel), but I never saw that.” “
The Administration’s Messy Story on Libya Attack
“Washington is notorious for dropping news it doesn’t want scrutinized too closely on the last day of the work week. So last Friday was a convenient time for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to release a statement about the Obama Administration’s conflicting accounts of the attack that killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya.
The ODNI statement appears intentionally vague on exactly what it knew when and who was told. It does little to address concerns that the President’s senior supporters seemed more concerned about minimizing criticism of the White House than addressing the threat of transnational terrorism.
The question remains: Why did senior officials issue contradictory and wrong accounts of what happened during the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi?”
“Yes, Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and yes, Obama and the State Dept. have known all along”
“ Fox News follows up on Eli Lake’s report yesterday:
U.S. intelligence officials knew within 24 hours of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that it was a terrorist attack and suspected Al Qaeda-tied elements were involved, sources told Fox News — though it took the administration a week to acknowledge it.
The account conflicts with claims on the Sunday after the attack by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice that the administration believed the strike was a “spontaneous” event triggered by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islam film.”
“Exclusive: America ‘was warned of embassy attack but did nothing’ “
“According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and “lockdown”, under which movement is severely restricted.”
” Russian attack submarine sailed in Gulf of Mexico undetected for

” Of the submarine activity, Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas), member of the Senate Armed Services.Committee, said, “It’s a confounding situation arising
from a lack of leadership in our dealings with Moscow. While the president is touting our supposed ‘reset’ in relations with Russia, Vladimir Putin is actively working against American interests,
whether it’s in Syria or here in our own backyard.” “
