May Day Rally Turns Violent In Seattle

” Police used “flash bangs” and pepper spray against some protesters who pelted them with rocks and bottles late Wednesday, as violence erupted during May Day in Seattle.

Several dozen protesters, many using bandanas to cover their faces, began clashing with police in downtown Seattle hours after a peaceful immigrant-rights march ended.

In the aftermath, 18 people were arrested, the Seattle Police Capt. Chris Fowler said.

Fowler said that eight officer were injured, mostly scrapes and bruises. One officer was hit by a rock on her knee.

The violence stemmed from a march that billed itself as an “anti-capitalism” protest. Initially, the protesters concentrated on a business sector of downtown Seattle.”

Five Sad Pictures From Today’s Anti-NRA March

The Media Platform

” I swung by the Stop the NRA March this afternoon to watch the protest and march against gun violence. I was late, but caught two of the speeches before the crowd started marching.

Participating organizations include Public Campaign, Occupy the NRA, CREDO, Every Child Matters, Moveon, United For Change, USA, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, The Other 98%, and We Act Radio.

As Buzzfeed’s Evan McMorris-Santoro noted earlier this morning, the event featured the debut of a new anti-NRA poster created by Shepard Fairey – the designer of the famous Obama ‘Hope’ poster.

A generous estimation of the crowd size would have been about 100 people, including members of the media.

Here are some of the photos:

See also :  Nothing … sorry but an exhaustive search has turned up no links , no videos , no reports of any kind other than the above referenced item . So much for a groundswell of anti-gun support .

We did come across this video from AFP but it is undated and we could not determine if it was from today or a similar rally held in December . Judging from the attire we are guessing that this video might be from today . Note the camera angle used on the marchers … LOL … filmed from knee height , thus creating an impression of lots of participants and avoiding the troublesome empty background sure to give away the sparseness of the crowd .

Ariz. Group Used Student Fees To Lobby For Tax Hike, Sues To Keep Funding

” Since 1998, the Arizona Students’ Association has collected $1 per semester from students who attend Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University. The fee was increased to $2 in 2008 and currently brings in about $600,000 per year. Students who don’t want to pay must fill out a form and mail it to ASA to receive a refund.

That changed in February, when the Arizona Board of Regents voted to alter the group’s funding mechanism so that students would have to opt in to pay the fee by checking a box on their tuition form.

A spokesperson for ASA characterized the policy change as political retaliation for going against the wishes of the regents in the November 2012 election. ASA spent over $120,000 actively campaigning for Proposition 204, which would have imposed a one-cent sales tax to raise money for higher education. The regents and Republican lawmakers opposed the proposition, and voters rejected it.”

Obama Effigy Burned By Palestinians In Rafah Ahead Of West Bank Visit (PICTURES)

Palestinians set fire to an effigy of US President Barack Obama during a protest against Obama’s visit to the West Bank, in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on March 21, 2013. Obama arrived in the West Bank to a more prickly welcome from Palestinian leaders than the warm embrace he won in Israel the day before. “

” Effigies of Barack Obama were burned by protesters in the town of Rafah ahead of the president’s visit to Ramallah on Thursday.

Obama, who arrived in the West Bank on Thursday morning, urged Palestinians and Israelis to resume peace talks.

“Even though both sides may have areas of strong disagreement, maybe engaging in activities that the other side considers to be a breach of good faith, we have to push through those things to try to get to an agreement,” he said. “

Secret Space Plane Just Launched On A MysteryMission

” The launch starts the third mission in three years for the robotic X-37 fleet, assembled in Boeing’s now-shuttered Building 31 in Huntington Beach, California, for an estimated $1 billion apiece. But for all the time spent in orbit by the two school bus-size spacecraft — 693 days in all — it’s no more clear today precisely what the Air Force has been up to with the X-37s.

Officially, the solar- and battery-powered X-37s are strictly experimental craft, meant to “demonstrate technologies for a reliable, reusable, unmanned space test platform” while also “operating experiments which can be returned to, and examined, on Earth,” according to the Air Force.

But the Air Force has consistently declined to state exactly what those experiments might be. And in theory the X-37s could also carry spy sensors or gear for hacking enemy satellites. That and the lack of specific information has elicited protests from the Chinese government, which has vowed to build a space plane of its own.

The opacity also makes a mockery of the State Department’s international campaign for greater space transparency.”

FRENCH MEDIA REFUSES TO COVER MASSIVE PROTEST AGAINST RADICAL ISLAM

” A broad coalition of groups from across France came together because they feel they’re losing their country to radical Islam, Sharia law, and a politically correct establishment that encourages the spread of Islam. “

While We Don’t Approve Their Methods , We Understand Their Madness

After all , they are gto be the major “beneficiaries” of his head-long flight to insolvency .
” Video taken on Election Night at Ole Miss shows that not all college-age voters are expressing their support to Barack Obama who won re-election on Election Night.
Barack Obama, the Democratic incumbent, had won the 2012 United States Presidential Election and will be serving out another four years in his second term. According to several news reports, Obama has once again received helpful support from voters aged between 18 and 29. About 60 percent voted for Obama while 36 voted for GOP nominee Mitt Romney.”

BRANDON DARBY: ANARCHISTS PLAN TO TAKE DOWN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AT RNC

” Yesterday, I interviewed my co-worker Brandon Darby as he was traveling toward the Republican National Convention in Florida. The interview focused on strategies used by anarchist protesters at the 2008 Republican National Convention and how those strategies will be used once again next week by the Occupy movement.

In addition to trying to shut down bridges to prevent delegates from reaching the convention center next week, Brandon has learned that a subgroup of Occupy is looking to shut down EMS communications throughout the city.

The video that goes along with this interview is one Brandon took at the RNC convention while working undercover for the FBI in 2008. Some of it is a bit jumpy, but you’ll see some of the street blocking tactics as well as several instances of individuals throwing items onto a freeway from an overpass.”

We’re Glad You Asked

What do Chick-Fil-A and the Tea Party tell us about the American left?

The intimidation spreads like a cancer . Will Obama import hecklers into the coming debates ? Or will some Black Panthers be at the entrance to screen the audience ?

“Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.” “

About as genuine as Sandra Fluke’s need for taxpayer-subsidized birth control , the orchestrated rage machine that serves Obama couldn’t survive without the water-carrying media flacks .

”I’m not sure which is more offensive: the President of the United States community organizing private citizens to artificially undermine an opponent’s visit to an inner-city school with Occupy Wall Street sloganeering, or the Washington Post’ s Philip Rucker not only burying this news but also allowing themselves to be willingly duped into covering the story in the way the Obama campaign desired . “

Harvard Knuckles Under

Yesterday we posted a link to Legal Insurrection about planned protests regarding Eric Holder speaking at Harvard . Today we received word , again from Professor Jacobson that the university has succeeded in quashing the website spearheading to protest .

“This is an update to my post yesterday regarding the protest organized against Eric Holder’s visit to Harvard Law School tomorrow, specifically his stonewalling the Fast and Furious investigations.  The protest was organized by a website using the name Harvard Law Unbound which has been operating since early April.

Despite the fact that Harvard Law Unbound used a banner which specifically alerted readers to the fact that it was not affiliatied with “Unbound – Harvard Journal of the Legal Left,” the editors of that Journal along with the HLS administration alleged that the website misled people as to the source of the opinion.  (See link above for details on the threats and the involvement of the HLS administration) “
