Who Goes To Prison Due To Gun Control?

” Somehow, left-liberals have associated the cause of gun rights with white racism, when if anything it is gun control that has a racist legacy. In the United States, early gun laws targeted recently freed blacks, and open carry first became banned in California under Governor Ronald Reagan to disarm groups like the Black Panthers. Today, blacks and Hispanics are disproportionately subjected to humiliating stop-and-frisk searches in the name of gun control.

Perhaps the most telling data concerns the racial makeup of who goes to prison for gun violations.According to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, for Fiscal Year 2011, 49.6% of those sentenced to federal incarceration with a primary offense of firearms violations were black, 20.6% were Hispanic, and only 27.5% were white.

This is how gun laws actually work—those caught violating them go to prison. For the mere act of owning an illegal weapon—not necessarily for using it, not for threatening anyone with it, not for being irresponsible with it—people who have harmed no one are locked up in prison for years at a time. As with the rest of the criminal justice system, particularly the war on drugs, these laws disproportionately harm the poor and minorities. That is the inescapable reality of gun control.

It makes sense that blacks and others living in the inner city would rely more on private, illegal guns for self-defense. The police are unreliable at best in many of these communities. It also makes sense that minorities would be disproportionately hurt by these laws, because so many of the dynamics in play are the same as with the drug war—people are being punished for what they own, rather than what they have done to others; “

FIRED-UP GOP REP. TREY GOWDY TAKES APART ARGUMENT THAT VOTER ID LAWS ARE RACIST DURING HOUSE HEARING

” Known for his fiery tirades on the House floor, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Tuesday blasted the Justice Department’s assertion that voter ID laws are discriminatory to minorities. Using South Carolina’s voter ID law as an example, Gowdy dismantled the race-based argument against such legislation in about 5 minutes.

“South Carolina passed a voter ID law in 2011…and in 2011 one-third of South Carolina’s congressional delegation was African-American,” Gowdy said. “I may be mistaken, I suspect that South Carolina’s percentage of African-American members of Congress may have been the highest in the country in 2011.” “

Do Democrats Want To Keep African Americans ‘Unarmed, Uneducated And Dependent’?

Blaze Racism

” Tonight on the Glenn Beck Program, Glenn welcomed three guests who were armed with the facts about gun rights and the history of the Second Amendment. Star Parker, founder of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education, actor Joseph Phillips, and writer and activist Kira Ayn Davis all discussed the impact of gun control legislation on the African American community.

From the very beginning, the three panelists all focused on how gun control has been used as a tool to keep the African American community out of power.

“The Democrats have never changed their strategy. They want people unarmed, uneducated and dependent on whoever that master is. Whether it’s the master that time in slavery or the master that keeps them enslaved to the welfare state,” Star Parker told Glenn.”

Inspector General Report On Racialist Dysfunction Inside DOJ

” Today the Department of Justice inspector general released a report on potential Labor secretary nominee Tom Perez’s DOJ Civil Rights Division. The timing of the release to coincide with his nomination was certainly accidental, because the report paints a damning portrait of the DOJ unit he managed.

The full report is here.

The 250-page report offers an inside glimpse of systemic racialist dysfunction inside one of the most powerful federal government agencies.

Today’s report paints a disgusting portrait, confirming our accounts.”

Looks like Justice Scalia was on to something

” Indeed, two career Voting Section attorneys told us that, even if the Department had infinite resources, they still would not have supported the filing of the Noxubee case because it was contrary to the purpose of the Voting Rights Act, which was to ensure that minorities who had historically been the victims of discrimination could exercise the right to vote.” “

Additionally, some of these individuals, including one current manager, admitted to us that, while they believed that the text of the Voting Rights Act is race-neutral and applied to all races, they did not believe the Voting Section should pursue cases on behalf of White victims.” “

As with virtually everything that government does , the Voting Rights Act, while race-neutral and necessary at the time , has ceased to function as designed an has been perverted to more sinister ends even as the need for it has dissipated .

This demonstrates very clearly the need to reform the way Congress does business . EVERY BILL they pass should have a “sunset clause” . The politicians create one legislative monster after another , each of which generates it’s own unique class of bureaucratic overseers . And each new creation , in just a few short years of existence , whether effective at their assigned task or not , morphs into another head on the Hydra that is seemingly invincible .

” – Attorney General Eric Holder was approached by Acting Assistant Attorney General Loretta King: King complained about cases that Voting Section Chief Chris Coates was bringing. King didn’t like that Coates was willing to use civil rights laws to protect white voters.  Coates had brought and managed the New Black Panther voter intimidation case.

Holder greenlighted King: do what was necessary to take care of Coates.

– Attorney General Holder told us that he understood from what others told him that Coates was a divisive and controversial person in the Voting Section and that one concern about Coates was that he “wanted to expand the use of the power of the Civil Rights Division in such a way that it would take us into areas that, though justified, would come at a cost of that which the Department traditionally had done, at the cost of people [that the] Civil Rights Division had traditionally protected. ” “

The mask slips … ” the people it had traditionally protected ” … this is no longer about EQUAL rights , oh no , we have entered the realm of preferential treatment now . It should be glaringly obvious to the thinking observer that rather than existing to ensure the equal rights of ALL citizens , the Civil Rights Division of Eric Holder’s Justice department has become a punitive , racist tool of the left with which to punish their political foes and provide cover for all manner of felonious behavior on the part of their fellow travelers .

” – The Report: “We found other postings by career Voting Section employees that contained intimidating comments and statements that arguably raised the potential threat of physical violence. For instance, one of the employees wrote the following comment to an article concerning an internal Department investigation of potential misconduct by a Section manager: “Geez, reading this just makes me want to go out and choke somebody. At this point, I’d seriously consider going in tomorrow and hanging a noose in someone’s office to get myself fired, but they’d probably applaud the gesture and give me a promotion for doing it….” “

Bills In States, Congress Seek To Raise Firearm Taxes

” Efforts are underway in Congress and at least half a dozen states, including California, to raise taxes on firearms or ammunition to pay for programs targeting gun violence.

In Congress, a group of Democrats, led by Rep. Linda T. Sanchez of Lakewood, is pushing for an additional 10% tax on handgun purchases that could generate tens of millions of dollars nationwide to fund gun buybacks, firearms safety campaigns and anti-violence programs.

Legislation that would impose taxes on guns or bullets has also been introduced in Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington state. In Sacramento, a bill by Democratic Assemblyman Roger Dickinson would impose a nickel tax on every bullet sold in California to pay for screening and treating young children for mental illness.

The proposals are designed after similar taxes placed by federal, state and local governments on cigarettes to fund anti-smoking campaigns and healthcare programs.

“Anything that contributes to balancing out the costs that gun violence exacts on communities is a step in the right direction,” said Kristen Rand, legislative director of the Violence Policy Center. “Like cigarettes, guns should be taxed in a manner that takes into account the harm they inflict on society at large.” “

Another example of the elitist racism inherent in the statists that masquerade as democrats in the US . Name one consumption tax hike burden that was not born primarily by those in society least able to afford the additional expense ?

In the decades following the Civil War , the southern states , democratically controlled mind you , utilized Jim Crow laws , literacy tests and POLL TAXES  in order to keep the blacks from exercising their right to vote . How is a tax hike on guns and ammunition any different ? The price hikes will be a direct and powerful burden on those segments of society, both black and white , that needs the protection of a firearm much more than these chauffeur-driven gasbags in the halls of power and at the same time are least able to come up with the extra cash needed to purchase some small measure of self-defense and peace of mind .

Racist snobbery and gun people control , all in the guise of “public safety” , why it’s a progressive heaven … oh yes , lest we forget the extra dividend of the mountains of additional cash transfered through legalized theft from the producers to the looters .

* ” In U.S. practice, a poll tax was used as a de facto or implicit pre-condition of the exercise of the ability to vote. This tax emerged in some states of the United States in the late 19th century as part of the Jim Crow laws. After the ability to vote was extended to all races by the enactment of the Fifteenth Amendment, many Southern states enacted poll tax laws as a means of restricting eligible voters; such laws often included a grandfather clause, which allowed any adult male whose father or grandfather had voted in a specific year prior to the abolition of slavery to vote without paying the tax. These laws, along with unfairly implemented literacy tests and extra-legal intimidation,[1] achieved the desired effect of disfranchising African-American and Native American voters, as well as poor whites.”

Tawana Brawley Found After Decades, Served Court Order For Defamation Case

” Racial tensions flared in 1987 when Ms. Brawley, her lawyers and the Rev. Al Sharpton accused a group of white men of covering her in feces and writing epithets on her body. A grand jury found that Ms. Brawley had fabricated the story and in 1998, Pagones was awarded $185,000 in damages — none of which has been paid.

An investigation by the New York Post led the paper to Hopewell, Va., where she was working as a nurse under the name Tawana Vacenia Thompson Gutierrez. Due to the interest that has accumulated over 25 years, Ms. Brawley owes Pagones roughly $430,000.”

Mark Steyn on the idiocy of Quentin
Tarentino denying the connection of film violence to school shootings

image

” HH: Quentin Tarentino is very defensive about Django Unchained. It is the most violent movie I have seen since Straw Dogs. It is relentlessly violent and gun-
filled. And he’s very touchy in the
aftermath of Newtown to people saying that which happens on the screen has any impact on the losers in the world. What do you think of that argument, Mark Steyn?

MS: Well look, Tarentino is an idiot. I said, I didn’t think Reservoir Dogs was a great movie. I think in a sense, he’s the Mantovani of violence, that he kind of makes it into easy listening Muzak. And if
you look at what he’s done with the Civil War, this latest film, he’s not in the least bit interested in the Civil War, because that would require reading a book. “

Black-Mob Violence Surges During Holiday Period

” This Christmas season saw dozens of episodes of black mob violence in malls, clubs, streets and other places around the country. Such attacks are part of an epidemic of hundreds of cases of black mob violence in more than 80 cities over the last three years, as documented in the book “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America and how the media ignore it.”

These attacks follow similar incidents on Memorial Day, Labor Day, the Fourth of July, St. Patrick’s Day and other holidays in 2012.

In Baton Rouge over the weekend, a mob of 200 black people caused a panic at the Mall of Louisiana after they began fighting and running through the shopping center.

According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, some were “screaming in terror.” Others called it a “stampede.” WWLTV called it “chaotic and scary.”

Hundreds of shoppers fled in panic. Others took refuge in small shops, where the managers sheltered customers behind locked doors to protect them from the rampaging crowd while the mall was closed and evacuated.

After leaving the shopping center, the rioters descended on Perkins Rowe, a neighboring shopping and residential district, where the violence and lawlessness continued.

This is one of several episodes of black mob violence in Baton Rouge over the last year.

“A similar incident at the Mall of Louisiana about a year ago led to the shootings of two teenagers,” said the Advocate.

See the Big List of black mob violence.

In February, police used pepper spray on a black mob of 600 waiting for the release of a new style of basketball shoe.

In September, WFAB reported Baton Rouge police had to break up a riot of more than 100 black people at a skating rink. One man brandished a gun, and families were “fearing for their lives.”

Several witnesses at the most recent Mall of Louisiana riot reported seeing and hearing weapons, but local police said there were no shots fired.

Video of the event shows the rioters were black. But the paper described the rioters as teenagers – a fact that several who posted comments on the paper’s web site wondered about:

Please explain to me your thought process in concluding that telling the truth is racist. The fact is that the 200 or so people involved were indeed black. There have been numerous instances of what black teens and young adults call “swarming”. “

Kevin Jackson speaks at The National Press Club

The 10 Most Embarrassing Examples Of Media Coverage In 2012

” The year is coming to a close. Thank goodness.

Maybe in 2013 we won’t have to worry about Honey Boo Boo, Gangnam Style, Kony 2012 and Mayans. Those topics and more were the ephemera of the year. While Democrats and Republicans were fighting to see which party could run America, the traditional media were trying to run it into the ground by consistently taking a one-sided approach to coverage.

On every major news story of the year – abortion, gay marriage, the economy, the fiscal cliff and guns – major media outlets consistently and openly sided with the left. Gone was any pretense of neutrality. From the media’s campaign against Mitt Romney to their campaign for gun control, the bias of the press was never worse.

Picking out bad media moments is like looking for egos in Washington or corruption in Congress. Here are the year’s lowlights:

10. The Gospel of Jesus’s Wife: Journalists love anything that tears down Christianity. Give them a spicy tale of Jesus’s wife and they treat it like it’s, well, gospel. The New York Times front-paged a story about a cell phone-sized scrap of papyrus that included the phrase: “Jesus said to them, ‘My wife…’” CBS reporter Allen Pizzey claimed it “challenges the very foundation of Christian thinking.” When the Smithsonian pulled a planned documentary and experts said they thought the papyrus was bogus, journalists were reluctant to report that news. “

Tribalism Writ Large

” To an immigrant such as myself (not the undocumented kind, but documented up to the hilt, alas), one of the most striking features of election-night analysis was the lightly worn racial obsession. On Fox News, Democrat Kirsten Powers argued that Republicans needed to deal with the reality that America is becoming what she called a “brown country.” Her fellow Democrat Bob Beckel observed on several occasions that if the share of the “white vote” was held down below 73 percent Romney would lose. In the end, it was 72 percent and he did. Beckel’s assertion — that if you knew the ethnic composition of the electorate you also knew the result — turned out to be correct. “

” Everyone talks about this demographic transformation as if it’s a natural phenomenon, like Hurricane Sandy. Indeed, I notice that many of those exulting in the inevitable eclipse of “white America” are the same people who assure me that demographic arguments about the Islamization of Europe are completely preposterous. But in neither the United States nor Europe is it a natural phenomenon. Rather, it’s the fruit of conscious government policy.”

Jay-Z Wants Less Government, But Supports Obama Because He’s Black

“Frustrating. Jay-Z likes Barack Obama as the leader of the United States not because of his policies, but because he’s black.”

“The part that is frustrating is that Jay-Z is judging Obama not by the content of his character, but by the color of his skin (heard this before?), because all signs point to a more conservative or libertarian rap mogul and not a guy that a large percentage of the country thinks is about to fall over to the socialist side of the fence.”

Breitbart – One Voice Silenced, Millions Awakened

” HERE IS the Truth about the Republican Party and Minorites.

First black member of the U.S. House of Representatives post-Reconstruction, Oscar Stanton De Priest (Illinois, 1928), Republican.

First black state attorney general, Edward Brooke (Massachusetts, 1962), Republican, later the first post-Reconstruction black U.S. Senator.

First woman Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O’Connor (1981-2006), appointed by Ronald Reagan.

First woman elected to the United States Congress, Jeanette Rankin, Montana, 1917), Republican.

The first five woman members of the U.S. House of Representatives were all Republicans.

The first woman governors of 13 U.S. states have been Republicans.

Currently four of the six sitting woman governors of U.S. states are Republicans, five woman U.S. Senators are Republicans, and 28 woman House representatives are Republicans.

George W. Bush had more woman cabinet members than any other U.S. President, and the most ethnically diverse cabinet of any U.S. President at the time.

80% of Republican Senators voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, while only 60% of Democrats did.

**Where liberal leaders see race and gender we see people as individuals with the same God-given rights.**”

Raaa-cist!!!

Mark Steyn

A couple of weeks back, I had occasion to mention one Geoffrey Dunn of the Huffington Post, after he dismissed Clint Eastwood as just another bitter old white male Republican racist. That would be the Clint Eastwood who dated a black woman in The Eiger Sanction, made a biopic of the black saxophonist Charlie Parker, helped make black vocalist Roberta Flack a No. 1 pop star, etc

“Mark Steyn: Racist dog whistles and the men who hear them”

“And so it goes with American racism: The less there is, the more extravagantly the racism-awareness lobby patrols its beat. The Walmart
carding clerks of the media are ever more alert to those who “appear to be” racist. On MSNBC,
Chris Matthews declared this week that Republicans use “Chicago” as a racist code word. Not to be outdone, his colleague Lawrence
O’Donnell pronounced “golf” a racist code word. When Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell
observed that Obama was “working to earn a spot on the PGA tour,” O’Donnell brilliantly perceived that subliminally associating Obama
with golf is racist, because the word “golf” is subliminally associated with “Tiger Woods,” and
the word “Tiger” is not-so-subliminally associated with cocktail waitress Jamie Grubbs,
nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel, lingerie model Jamie Jungers, former porn star Holly Sampson,
etc, etc. So by using the word “golf” you’re sending a racist dog whistle that Obama is a sex addict who reverses over fire hydrants. “

Saturday Night Card Game (The first race card has been played against Paul Ryan)

The gaffe that wasnt

” One of the few things Americans on both sides of the partisan divide can agree on is that this election is shaping up to be vexingly petty. The hunt for gaffes –some real, many imagined — has taken over. Romney’s recent overseas tour, we are told, produced three: an impolitic, if defensible, statement about Britain’s preparations for the Olympics; a statement about the importance of culture in economic development; and when an aide to Romney dressed down a reporter with an inflated sense of entitlement.

Not only is that list pathetic in its own right, in the rush to paint Romney’s campaign as hapless, the press and partisans glossed over a philosophical insight worthy of a presidential debate.”

” Frum mostly talks about why this statement irks rich people, but I believe it resonates badly with people at all income levels. Lots
of people — most, I hope — are proud of something they’ve achieved in their lives and feel like that achievement owes much to
their own hard work and talents.

You don’t have to make over $250,000 a year to be annoyed when the president mocks people
for taking credit for their achievements. And it’s an especially jarring statement because of what it’s used to justify — higher taxes, with the implication being that they
are called for because people do not deserve their own pre-tax wealth. People are rightly unnerved by an argument that amounts to
“we can tax you because you didn’t deserve this anyway.” Faced with such an argument, defending your own contribution to your success isn’t just a point of pride — it’s an
argument you must make to defend the principle that you are entitled to your own private property. “

Race Based Discipline

” “A disproportionate share of crimes are committed by African Americans, and they are
disproportionately likely to misbehave in school… [because] more than 7 out of 10 African Americans (72.5 percent) are born out of wedlock… versus fewer than 3 out of 10 whites,” he said in a statement to The Daily Caller. Although ” you won’t see it mentioned in the Executive Order… there is an obvious connection between these [marriage] numbers
and how each group is doing educationally, economically, criminally,” he said. “
