Illegal Migrant Wave Overwhelming School Districts

‘ Municipal school systems around the country are gearing up to absorb tens of thousands of children who arrived illegally from Central America for the new school year, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The influx, mostly from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, will stress the resources of schools from large metropolitan areas to small towns from California to New York. A minimum of 37,000 children who have been placed with sponsors as of July 31 are eligible to attend public school, according to the Journal.

Among the systems expected to be most heavily impacted are Texas, where over 5,000 illegal migrant pupils will be showing up for school as well as New York and California, which will each get about 4,000 arrivals, the Journal reported.

Many will come with psychological scars requiring trauma counseling. Almost all will need remedial help in learning English. Every single one will have access to subsidized nutritional programs.

Public schools are obligated by the federal government to enroll the children regardless of their immigration status. Alberto Carvalho of Miami-Dade County Public Schools said, “We have both a legal and moral obligation to teach these kids,” the Journal reported. “

VIOLENT MUSLIM RIOTS CONTINUE FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT DAY IN SWEDEN, SPREADING BEYOND CAPITAL

” Ah, yes, the gap between rich and poor, that old canard is being dusted off and trotted out to avoid the M issue.”Often young people with immigrant backgrounds – who are poorly educated, cannot find work and feel pushed to the edge of society.” There are thousands of non-Muslim immigrants and working class poor who are not burning down the country screaming allahu akbar even though many of them live in the exact same neighborhoods and have the same levels of income.

In a country with a reputation for openness, tolerance and a model welfare state, the rioting has exposed a fault-line between a well-off majority and a minority – often young people with immigrant backgrounds – who are poorly educated, cannot find work and feel pushed to the edge of society.

But in Orebro, a town in central Sweden, some 25 masked youths set fire to three cars, a school and tried to torch a police station, police said. An old empty building was set alight in the town of Sodertalje, less than an hour’s drive from the capital.”

A Long Island Horror Story

” March 1st was just another day when I put my 10 year old, fourth grade son John on the bus and sent him off to school. Or so I thought. On the contrary, today was the day that my life as a gun owner was about to change, dramatically and rapidly.

Sometime during the day, my son allegedly spoke with a few of his classmates. The boys (excluding my son) were involved in a school yard pushing incident the day before. Two or three of these boys (including my son) were talking about going to the house of the boys that did the pushing. These boys were to take with them a water, paint and bb gun. Word of this got to the principal. She immediately interrogated the children. I received a call from the principal advising me of this just as my son got off the bus. She also advised me that my son was to be suspended for two days because of his words. She decided that this talk amongst students warranted filing a police report. If this wasn’t bad enough, the police were sent to my residence and I was advised that my guns may be taken from me. This can’t be happening, I thought. But it was.

The following Monday I received a call from Pistol Licensing that they would be at my residence in the morning to take my guns and suspend my license. I attempted to explain that this must be a mistake, no wrong doing occurred on my part. My son has no access to any of my guns. The officer that came to my residence saw that all my guns were secured.Pistol Licensing was not interested in my side of the story. They were only interested in what happened with my ten year old son in school.”

NY School District Suspends Police-in-Schools Program after Officer Discharges Gun (VIDEO)

” On Tuesday, a student resource officer at a high school in Lloyd, New York, accidentally discharged his sidearm while patrolling school grounds. As a result district officials have suspended the ‘police-in-schools’ program indefinitely.

Officer Sean McCutcheon, who is employed by the Highland Central School District, accidentally discharged his Glock .45 at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday at Highland High School.

While details of how McCutcheon mistakenly fired off a round are still being investigated, what is clear is that no one was injured when the gun went off.

“No students or staff were in the area when the weapon discharged, and no one was injured as a result of this accidental discharge,” Highland Central School District Superintendent Deborah Haab told reporters during a Tuesday meeting with parents and the press.

“He’s suspended pending the investigation,” Lloyd police Lt. James Janso told reporters, adding that the suspension is standard protocol given the circumstances. “

What Every Legislator – And Citizen – Needs to Know

” No one wants to ever again see anything like the senseless slaughter of 26 people – including 20 children – at a school. But as legislators turn toward creating new gun laws, here are five facts they need to know.

1. Violent crime – including violent crime using guns – has dropped massively over the past 20 years.

The violent crime rate – which includes murder, rape, and beatings – is half of what it was in the early 1990s. And the violent crime rate involving the use of weapons has also declined at a similar pace.

2. Mass shootings have not increased in recent years.

Despite terrifying events like Sandy Hook or last summer’s theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, mass shootings are not becoming more frequent. “There is no pattern, there is no increase,” says criminologist James Allen Fox of Northeastern University, who studies the issue. Other data shows that mass killings peaked in 1929.”

Bill Allowing Concealed Guns In Michigan Schools, Churches Heads To Governor

” Lawmakers in both the House and Senate approved Senate Bill 59 to allow concealed weapons in several gun-free zones Thursday, as well as doing away with county boards currently overseeing concealed pistol licensing.

“If you have pistol free zones they are actually mass murderer empowerment zones,” said Steve Dulan, attorney for the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners, who represents sportsman clubs throughout Michigan backing the bill. “If you actually look at the history, even over the past 10 years in the U.S., you find that maybe all but one mass shooting has occurred in a so-called gun free zone.”

Michigan law currently prohibits concealed weapons in schools, churches, day cares, hospitals, dorms, casinos and any public entertainment venue able to hold more than 2,500 people. Violators can be charged a civil infraction with a $500 fine and six-month concealed pistol license suspension. Repeat offenses can lead to a four-year felony, $5,000 fine and concealed pistol license being revoked. “
