Gun And Outdoor Gear Retailer Cabela’s 1Q Profit Jumps 73 Percent
” Cabela’s says strong sales of guns and ammunition helped drive its profit up 73 percent in the first quarter, surpassing expectations and briefly driving its shares to all-time highs on Thursday.
The retailer operates stores that sell gear for hunting, fishing and outdoor sports.
Revenue jumped 29 percent to $802.5 million from $623.5 million last year. Analysts expected revenue of $770.5 million.”

US Sailor Thwarts Dubai Bus Driver Rapist After Putting Him In Strangehold With Her Thighs And Then Beating Him Into Submission
” An off-duty US navy sailor wrestled a bus driver to the ground and beat him into submission after he attempted to rape her at knife point, a court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors said that she knocked the knife from his hand, broke it in two, bit him in the hand, forced him to the ground and locked him between her thighs.
The woman, 28, was on 24-hour shore leave in Dubai and was attacked as she returned to the port where she was based after a day shopping.”

Oops: Macy’s Marks Down $1,500 Necklace To $47
” The department store giant mailed a catalog to customers earlier this month which mistakenly offered a $1,500 sterling silver and 14-karat gold necklace for just $47. The heading: “SUPER BUY.”
The actual sale price was supposed to be $479, but Macy’s printed the 44-page circular without the “9.”
According to WFAA-TV in Dallas, customers flocked to the Collin Creek Mall to buy them before Macy’s was able to catch the error.”

Brownells Sells 3.5 years’ Worth Of Magazines In 72 Hours
” In the face of possible legislation to restrict and possibly ban firearms and magazines over a certain capacity, waves of panic buyers have stripped shelves to the paint, at both retail and online gun stores.
A combination of demand and gouging has caused prices for rifle magazines and rifles, parts and accessories to more than double, with some vendors selling goods at five times what the average rate was just a few weeks ago.
Many online companies are selling magazines faster than their systems can handle, accepting orders for stock they don’t have and running out of stock mid-transaction.
Brownells spokesman Jason Corpus had this to say.”
