New York Gun Owners Face ‘SAFE Act’ Registration Deadline

Noncompliance

New York gun owners who possess firearms classified as assault weapons under a new state law have until the end of Tuesday to register their guns — or face potential criminal charges.

The requirement is part of a provision of New York’s so-called SAFE Act, the package of tighter gun restrictions signed into law  in Albany months after the Sandy Hook school massacre. The law broadened the state’s “assault weapons” ban to cover more kinds of semiautomatic weapons.

Gun owners who lawfully possessed guns that are now on the banned list were allowed to keep their weapons, but had to register them with the state police. They were also given the option of selling their guns to a licensed New York dealer or out-of-state buyer by Jan. 15 of this year.

Those who fail to comply could face a misdemeanor charge or — if they were already disqualified from owning a gun because of a prior criminal conviction or other reason — a potential felony.

Some gun owners say they have no intention of obeying the edict, reports the Daily Gazette of Schenectady:

Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said he has attended pro-gun rallies in the Capital Region over the past year at which thousands of people from across the state said they do not plan to register their assault weapons.

“ So many people have said they won’t register their guns. I haven’t been told personally, but I’m sure there are some people who have not registered in Fulton County and some who have,” Lorey said. “But I think everyone who plans to register their weapons has already done so.”

Do not expect huge lines at your local State trooper barracks , as Sheriff Lorey says , whoever is going to register has most likely already done so , and we’ll wage it’s damn few .

Obama Administration Land Grab Memo Leaked

Outlook-US_Map-Basic-Numbered-DRKER_sm

” Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s decades-long battle against the federal government over grazing rights continues, but it may get worse over a leaked memo that was uncovered in 2010 that reveals an Obama Administration land grab initiative that may spread across other western states, possibly causing the same showdown between landowners, ranchers, and the federal government.

The Tea Party Command Center on Saturday uncovered the lost news report where former Republican Senator Jim DeMint raised the alarm back in 2010 of a leaked memo about a planned, 10 million acre Western land grab by the Obama administration of 17 sites in 11 western states.

The secret memo stamped, “Internal Draft – NOT FOR RELEASE” was leaked by a Department of Interior official to Utah Congressman Bob Bishop.

The memo titled, “Prospective Conservation Designation: National Monument Designations under the Antiquities Act” proposes that many nationally significant landscapes are worthy of inclusion in the NLCS and if enacted, could very well set off another BLM and property owner standoffs.”

This report , combined with the recent actions against Cliven Bundy and Kit Laney lend much credence to Ben Smith’s allegations that the Federal government is conspiring to bring about the conditions necessary to declare martial law .

Federal agents back down in stand-off with armed cowboys: BLM release cattle after they were surrounded by militia following agreement to stop targeting rancher in modern-day ‘range war’

  • Bureau of Land Management would not enforce court order to remove  cattle and was pulling out of the area
  • Politicians have compared the standoff to Tienanmen Square
  • The Bundy family says they’ve owned the 600,000 acres since 1870 but the Bureau of Land Management says they are illegally grazing
  • The dispute began in 1993 when land was reclassified as to federal property to protect a rare desert tortoise, the government claimed
  • Federal officers stormed the property this week with helicopters and snipers to back up about 200 armed agents
  • They have reportedly seized around 350 of Cliven Bundy’s 900 cattle
  • Cattle were handed back to rancher after tense standoff
  • Tensions escalated after private militias poured in to support the family

” Hundreds of heavily armed militia members celebrated their victory over federal law enforcement officers on Saturday after they secured the release of Cliven Bundy’s captured cattle.

In an embarrassing climbdown, the Bureau of Land Management retreated from its high profile standoff with Bundy and his rag-tag bunch of anti-federalists after the BLM attempted to forcibly capture nearly 1,000 of his cattle.

The militia member showed up at corrals outside Mesquite to demand the animals’ return to rancher Cliven Bundy. Some protesters were armed with handguns and rifles at the corrals and at an earlier nearby rally.”

” Bundy, 67, doesn’t recognize federal authority on land he insists belongs to Nevada. His Mormon family has operated a ranch since the 1870s near the small town of Bunkerville and the Utah and Arizona lines.

‘Good morning America, good morning world, isn’t it a beautiful day in Bunkerville?’ Bundy told a cheering crowd after his cattle were released, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

A number of Bundy’s supporters, who included militia members from California, Idaho and other states, dressed in camouflage and carried rifles and sidearms. During the stand-off, some chanted ‘open that gate’ and ‘free the people.’

A man who identified himself as Scott, 43, said he had traveled from Idaho along with two fellow militia members to support Bundy.

‘If we don’t show up everywhere, there is no reason to show up anywhere,’ said the man, dressed in camouflage pants and a black flak jacket crouched behind a concrete highway barrier, holding an AR-15 rifle. ‘I’m ready to pull the trigger if fired upon,’ Scott said.”

” Land managers limited the Bundy herd to just 150 head on a land which the rancher claims has been in his family for more than 140 years.

The government also claims Bundy has ignored cancellation of his grazing leases and defied federal court orders to remove his cattle.

‘We won the battle,’ said Ammon Bundy, one of the rancher’s sons.

Hundreds of Bundy supporters, some heavily armed, had camped on the road leading to his ranch in a high desert spotted with sagebrush and mesquite trees.

Some held signs reading ‘Americans united against government thugs,’ while others were calling the rally the ‘Battle of Bunkerville,’ a reference to a American Revolutionary War battle of Bunker Hill in Boston.

The large crowd at one point blocked all traffic on Interstate 15. Later, as lanes opened up, motorists honked to support the demonstrators and gave them a thumbs-up sign.

Las Vegas Police Lt. Dan Zehnder said the showdown was resolved with no injuries and no violence. Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie was able to negotiate a resolution after talking with Bundy, he said.

The fight between Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management widened into a debate about states’ rights and federal land-use policy. “

” The dispute that ultimately triggered the roundup dates to 1993, when the bureau cited concern for the federally protected tortoise in the region.

The bureau revoked Bundy’s grazing rights after he stopped paying grazing fees and disregarded federal court orders to remove his animals.

Kornze’s announcement came after Bundy repeatedly promised to “do whatever it takes” to protect his property and after a string of raucous confrontations between his family members and supporters and federal agents during the weeklong operation.

Bundy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Republican Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval issued a statement praising the agency for its willingness to listen to the state’s concerns.”

” He earlier criticized the agency for creating “an atmosphere of intimidation” and trying to confine protesters to a fenced-in “First Amendment area” well away from the sprawling roundup area.

‘The safety of all individuals involved in this matter has been my highest priority,’ Sandoval said.

‘Given the circumstances, today’s outcome is the best we could have hoped for.’

Nevada’s congressional delegation urged the protesters to be calm and to leave the area.

‘The dispute is over, the BLM is leaving, but emotions and tensions are still near the boiling point, and we desperately need a peaceful conclusion to this conflict,’ U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., said in a statement.

‘I urge all the people involved to please return to your homes and allow the BLM officers to collect their equipment and depart without interference.’

The 400 cows gathered during the roundup were short of the BLM’s goal of 900 cows that it says have been trespassing on U.S. land without required grazing permits for over 20 years.

The dispute less than 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas between rancher Cliven Bundy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management had simmered for days.

Bundy had stopped paying fees for grazing his cattle on the government land and officials said he had ignored court orders.”

” Anti-government groups, right-wing politicians and gun-rights activists camped around Bundy’s ranch to support him, in a standoff that tapped into long-simmering anger in Nevada and other Western states, where vast tracts of land are owned and governed by federal agencies.

The bureau had called in a team of armed rangers to Nevada to seize the 1,000 head of cattle on Saturday but backed down in the interests of safety.

‘Based on information about conditions on the ground and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public,’ the bureau’s director, Neil Kornze, said in a statement.

The protesters, who at the height of the standoff numbered about 1,000, met the news with applause. Then they quickly advanced on the metal pens where the cattle confiscated earlier in the week were being held.

After consultations with the rancher’s family, the bureau decided to release the cattle it had rounded up, and the crowd began to disperse.

‘This is what I prayed for,’ said Margaret Houston, one of Bundy’s sisters. ‘We are so proud of the American people for being here with us and standing with us.”

” In an interview prior to the bureau’s announcement, Bundy said he was impressed by the level of support he had received.

‘I’m excited that we are really fighting for our freedom. We’ve been losing it for a long time,’ Bundy said.

An official with an environmental group that had notified the government it would sue unless federal land managers sought to protect tortoises on the grazing allotment used by Bundy’s cattle expressed outrage at the end of the cattle roundup.

‘The sovereign militias are ruling the day,’ said Rob Mrowka, senior scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity. ‘Now that this precedent has been set and they’re emboldened by the government’s capitulation, what’s to stop them from applying the same tactics and threats elsewhere?’

Roger Taylor, retired district manager with the Bureau of Land Management in Arizona, also said the agency’s decision to release the cattle will have repercussions.

‘The (agency) is going to be in a worse situation where they will have a much more difficult time getting those cattle off the land and getting Bundy in compliance with regulations,’ he said.”

” As it announced earlier today that it was backing off, the BLM said it did so because it feared for the safety of employees and members of the public.

Despite the week-long protest being called off, there were claims that nearly two dozen police and a SWAT team were waiting on the road near the encampment.

There have been no threats of violence from the protesters, who were asked to leave any guns they may have in their vehicles before coming to the camp.

In previous days, men carrying AK-47s and handguns had been pictured at the camp in southern Nevada that was set up in protest at the bureau’s attempt to confiscate cattle from Bundy, whose family has been working the land for centuries. “

” Earlier, the BLM had offered to pay Bundy for the cattle it has already rounded up, but protesters demanded they be released to the rancher.

The cattle were being held in a corral near Mesquite, close to where the SWAT team were spotted.

About an hour after Bundy agreed a deal with the county sheriff, about 100 protesters, some armed and on horseback, headed to the corral.

After tense talks and a standoff, the BLM finally agreed to return the cattle to Bundy. A growing crowd of armed protesters who had gathered at the gate of the base camp were ordered to wait for 30 minutes to give both sides time to talk.

By 5pm ET, an agreement had been made that the bureau would release the animals back to the rancher.

Nevada Police had pleaded with drivers Saturday afternoon to avoid the highway from Las Vegas to Mesquite, as protesters swelled out across the road, causing it to be cut off in both directions.

The BLM had said its agents would not be able to leave until protesters are at a safe distance, according to 8 News Now.”

BLM director Neil Kornze said on Saturday however: ‘Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public.’

Bundy claims ancestral rights to graze his cattle on lands his Mormon family settled in the 19th century. He stopped paying grazing fees and disregarded several court orders to remove his animals.

BLM officials say Bundy now owes more than $1.1million in unpaid grazing fees.

‘I have no contract with the United States government. I was paying grazing fees for management and that’s what BLM was supposed to be, land managers and they were managing my ranch out of business, so I refused to pay,’ the rancher told ABC News.

Supporters for Bundy said about 300 protesters had arrived to help campaign on the rancher’s behalf. The BLM put the number at 100.

The tense week-long protest had come to an end after Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie brokered a deal with Bundy Saturday morning.

The sheriff has been negotiating with the rancher for months, and the pair met at the ranch today to finalize the deal, according to 8 News Now.”

” The BLM had earlier been said to be planning to sell the cattle it has rounded up and had offered to share the profits with Bundy.

As the protest became heated earlier this week, a Republican U.S. Senator and Nevada’s governor spoke out in favor of a rancher fighting efforts by federal agents to seize both his land and his cattle.

Sen Dean Heller, of Nevada, said he told U.S. Bureau of Land Management head Neil Kornze that law-abiding Nevadans such as rancher Cliven Bundy shouldn’t be penalized by an ‘overreaching’ agency.

Governor Buran Sandoval, also a Republican, previously spoke out against the actions, saying they are leading to an ‘atmosphere of intimidation.’ “

” In Arizona, a congressman said he and several state Republican lawmakers considered traveling to Bunkerville to protest what they perceive as government heavy-handedness.

Arizona state representative Bob Thorpe, of Flagstaff, said he and state legislators weren’t arguing whether Bundy broke laws or violated grazing agreements.

Thorpe said the Arizona lawmakers were upset the BLM initially restricted protesters to so-called free speech zones.

Senator Heller and Governor Sandoval have also said they were upset with the way the BLM was conducting the roundup.

The remarks came as video emerged of Ammon Bundy, the son of Cliven Bundy, being repeatedly shot with a Taser and threatened by police dogs.

The confrontation took place Wednesday and was caught on video by Bundy supporters and relatives who got into an aggressive – and at times violent – face-off with the officers. “

The week-long standoff started when federal agents swooped in Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870.

The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the BLM attained a federal court order to confiscate the family’s herd.

A Facebook post made by Bundy supporters told protesters to bring cameras and ‘film everything’ but ‘any rifles people may have with them need to stay in the vehicles’.

Sandoval, who criticized the tactics used by the BLM agents earlier this week, has urged everyone to show restraint.

‘Although tensions remain high, escalation of current events could have negative, long lasting consequences that can be avoided,’ he said Thursday.

The cattle grab came after Bundy family supporters began comparing the showdown to a war.”

Speaking this week before a packed town hall meeting in Moapa, Nev., with Bundy looking on, the unidentified man offered a gripping account of the dangers residents face, demonstrating why the impasse remains a powder keg waiting to explode, according to a video of his remarks.

Bundy has locked horns with the federal government because the rancher’s cattle are grazing on public land — the rights to which the family says has been handed down through generations. Now the Bureau of Land Management, insisting the “trespass cattle” have been allowed to graze illegally, is rounding up the livestock.”

” All of the Guard’s AH-64 Apache helicopters are scheduled to go to the active Army, and there’s nothing its top brass can do about it.

“ None of us like what we’re having to do,” National Guard Chief Gen. Frank Grass told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, the military website Defense One reported. “My big concern right now is figuring out how I’m going to move, and how many states I’m going to have an impact on, and what’s the cost of facilities and to retrain pilots. I’ve got to tackle that because the decision’s been made.”

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno told members of Congress on Tuesday that the move will save $12 billion through fiscal year 2017, Defense One reported.

When the logistics are worked out, the Army’s fleet of OH-58 Kiowa helicopters will be divested, its newly acquired Apaches will fill its reconnaissance and scouting needs, and the National Guard will be given UH-60 Black Hawks.”

Anybody who believes this is about saving money is deluded . This is a power grab pure and simple . While the Feds go about disarming the State guard units so as to deny the states any offensive air assets in the event of an “emergency” , the same Dept of Defense continues to up-armor local police departments with billions in free ordnance .

Here’s a cost saving idea General , how about you sell the excess MRAPS to allies , thus keeping them out of podunk towns across America and use the proceeds to let the National Guard to keep the Apaches . These ongoing deployments and re-deployments appear to be “battle space preparation” on the part of the Feds .

Looking at this situation from another angle , the disarming of the Guard plays right into the Obama administration’s continued efforts to destroy American readiness . The Guard has played a pivotal role in the “War on Terror” for the past decade and now the fliers will be unable to train . Just another sop to our enemies as King Obama softens us up for his terrorist cronies .

14 Governors : Prepare State Militia Defenses, To Be Ready Against Obama’s Rogue Federal Forces

” Obama fearing a revolution against him by the states, has moved swiftly by nationalizing nearly all National Guard Forces in multiple states; Georgia, Alabama, Kansas, Minnesota, Tennessee, Virginia, Louisiana, South Carolina – to name a few. The Governors of the Great States of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia still have under their Command-and-Control the State Defense Forces to go against U.S. Federal forces should the need arise. Also important to note: There are NO U.S. laws prohibiting National Guard troops from also joining their State’s Defense Forces. This dilemma occurred during the Civil War with many “citizen soldiers” choosing to serve their states instead of the Federal Government.”

‘Expect To See A Band Of Soldiers’: Militia Members Arrive At Nevada Ranch

” Militia groups are rallying behind a rancher whose cattle are being seized by the federal government.   The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that two militia members from Montana and one from Utah have arrived at Cliven Bundy’s ranch. “ We need to be the barrier between the oppressed and the tyrants,” Ryan Payne of the West Mountain Rangers told the Review-Journal. “Expect to see a band of soldiers.”   Payne said that militias from New Hampshire, Texas and Florida are likely to join and stand with Bundy and stay at his ranch. “ They all tell me they are in the process of mobilizing as we speak,” Payne told the Review-Journal, adding that hundreds of militia members are expected.”

An Iowa City With A Population Of 7,000 Will Receive Armored Military Vehicle

Wash Iowa's MRAP

” Moving along to the subject of today’s absurdity, the tiny city of Washington, Iowa with a population of 7,000 and 11 police officers, will be receiving a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. Yes, they will be employing one of these in the field:

These things normally cost $500,000, but will be given to Washington, Iowa for free under a Defense Department program that gives surplus military equipment to domestic law enforcement.

Matthew Byrd writes in the Daily Iowan that:

Sometimes the news is just so drearily awful that you have to sit back and almost appreciate the pure comedy induced by it.

Take this item from Washington, Iowa, where the local police have recently acquired an MRAP vehicle (short for Mine Resistance Ambush Protected) through a Defense Department program that donates excess vehicles originally produced for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to local police departments across the United States, including other Iowa towns such as Mason City and Storm Lake.

The MRAP weighs an impressive 49,000 pounds, stands 10-feet tall, and possesses a whopping six-wheel drive. Originally designed to resist landmines and IEDs, it sure seems like the MRAP will come in handy for the notorious war zone otherwise known as Washington County, Iowa.

If you’re having a bad day, I highly recommend watching a video produced by the Des Moines Register in which Washington police officials try to justify the possession of a vehicle it clearly has no use for. “

Last Man Standing

” A two-decades-old battle between a Nevada rancher and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has resulted in officials armed with machine guns surrounding the ranch and forcibly removing the owner’s cattle, according to the rancher’s family.

Cliven Bundy, the last rancher in Clark County, Nev., has been fighting a “one-man range war” since 1993, when he decided to take a stand against the agency, refusing to pay fees for the right to graze on a ranch run by his family for centuries.

After years of court battles, the BLM secured a federal court order to have Bundy’s “trespass cattle” forcibly removed with heavy artillery, the family said.

“ The battle’s been going on for 20 years,” Bundy told the Washington Free Beacon. “What’s happened the last two weeks, the United States government, the bureaus are getting this army together and they’re going to get their job done and they’re going to prove two things. They’re going to prove they can do it, and they’re gonna prove that they have unlimited power, and that they control the policing power over this public land. That’s what they’re trying to prove.”

Bundy said the government has brought everything but tanks and rocket launchers.”

Common Core Debate Leads To Mom’s Suspension From Son’s School

Common Core Suspension

” As California prepares to adopt the new state educational standards known as Common Core this fall, more parents are speaking out against them. Now one local mom says she was suspended from her son’s school for doing so.

” I was outraged,” 12-year-old Christopher Duran said.

The boy couldn’t believe it when he found out his mom had been suspended from Mark Twain Elementary School.

” Why would the principal sign a withdrawal of consent to my mom, and furthermore, why would she send the police to the house?” Christopher asked.

That withdrawal of consent, delivered by a police officer, banned Christopher’s mom from school for 14 days. Last week when we asked the school district why, they told us Katherine Duran was disrupting the school.

” It appears went a little too far with regards to how she distributed information at school sites, distributing information to children directly,” Sacramento City Unified School District spokesperson Gabe Ross said last Thursday.

” To blame me and say that I had personally handed a child that information on school property during school hours and disrupting the school. No, none of that is true,” Christopher’s mom Katherine O’Neal Duran said.”

Justice For Justina

After signing the petition make sure you:

2. Tweet using the official#FreeJustina hashtag
3. Contact the Mass Governor Gov. Deval Patrick

Should doctors and bureaucrats be allowed to overrule parents when it comes to their children’s healthcare? We don’t think so. That’s why we need you to stand up for Justina.

Justina Pelletier, a 15-year-old from West Hartford, Conn., is in the fight of her life. After being diagnosed and treated for a rare genetic disorder, Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) overruled the diagnosis and said it was “all just in her head.” When Justina’s parents refused to stop her treatment, BCH assumed custody of Justina and locked her up in the psych ward — against her parents’ wishes. Shouldn’t the parents of this young girl have the right to make decisions regarding her welfare?

We are calling for justice for Justina. And for her parents.

Since the State of Massachusetts assumed custody of Justina and locked her away on February 14, 2013, her parents have been caught up in a legal and medical custody battle that has been raging for more than a year. Judge Joseph Johnston has placed a gag order on all parties involved in this case, but Justina’s parents haven’t stopped fighting.

“ We are David, not against Goliath, but against two Goliaths — Boston Children’s Hospital and the State of Massachusetts,” Justina’s dad, Lou Pelletier, told ABCNews.com. “To me, it’s a hopeless cause, and the only way to win is in the court of public opinion.

That’s why we need your help. Please add your name to the petition demanding that the State of Massachusetts and Boston Children’s Hospital honor the rights of Justina and her parents. We call on both BCH and the State to release Justina back to her family so she can receive the proper care and therapy she needs.

Lou Pelletier reports that Justina’s health is rapidly deteriorating, so time is of the essence. Please don’t wait to join the thousands of Americans who have raised their voices demanding justice for Justina.”

Sign the petition today and let’s return Justina to her family.

Clarke: Liberal Policies Have Destroyed The Black Family

SheriffDavidClarke

” The latest attempt by liberals to help black people is underway in our K-12 urban public schools.

These do-gooders are now defining down socially acceptable behavior for black students in school. Bad behavior is being excused and attempts to hold black kids accountable by enforcing codes of conduct are called racist.

Having a sense of discipline has always been considered a virtue, a redeeming quality, but now its roots are claimed to lie in racism.

White liberal elites have chimed in about school codes of conduct.

The Capital Times newspaper of Madison, Wis., recently chronicled bad behavior by black students in its public schools. In the story, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said that racial discrimination in school discipline codes “is a real problem today.”

The white superintendent of the Madison public schools believes that “we need to address head-on our racial bias and the assumptions we make of students who are in the classroom.”

Really? Where I come from, bad behavior has always been unacceptable and is codified not by race but by societal norms to keep chaos from reigning.

These watered-down student codes of conduct sweeping across urban public school systems will not help black parents, kids or communities. Like every other display of liberal empathy, they will have a reverse effect, and it will not be positive.

All anti-social behavior and social pathology is normalized, and to disagree is racial stereotyping. What these race provocateurs do not want to admit is the reason we are seeing more disruptive behavior in schools is because of poor and ineffective parenting, manifested by liberal policies.

There is a government program today for everything in the black community that used to be the responsibility of the individual, such as parenting. Because of this system, many parents have abdicated what is their most important responsibility and turned it over to the government.

Uncle Sam is now raising their kids. “

The Strange Revival Of Republican America

” For years people have predicted the Republican party’s demise. The decline of whites as a share of the US population and the spread of tolerant values, such as support for gay marriage, would gradually snuff out its appeal. Yet the Grand Old Party has a stubborn way of bouncing back. The coming midterm elections in November are unlikely to be an exception, while the Republican field for the next presidential election looks stronger than at any time since 2000. Tomorrow may indeed arrive at some point. But for the time being, today is going pretty well for the Republicans.

Take the fast-approaching congressional elections. President Barack Obama is giving everything he has in terms of fundraising to retain Democratic control of the Senate. The remainder of his presidency depends on it. Even diehard optimists doubt Democrats could regain control of the House. Yet the more Mr Obama throws at the Senate, the lower his poll numbers fall. Last week he hit a new low of 41 per cent approval versus 54 per cent disapproval. History says an unpopular president’s party loses ground in midterm elections. This year is unlikely to buck the trend.”

Financial Times has a lengthy piece on GOP chances for the upcoming 2014 midterms and while the article is every bit as condescending as it’s title would suggest there remains much truth that even their writer’s bias cannot hide .

5 Ways America Is Creating A Generation Of Wimps

http://wussleblower01.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/wussification.png?w=300&h=256&h=256

” Americans rode in wagon trains across this country, tossed the Brits’ tea in the Boston Harbor, outfought the superpower of the 18th century to get our freedom, pounded the Indians, Mexicans, and Spanish into the ground to fulfill our Manifest Destiny and then for an encore, we saved the planet in WWI, WWII, and the Cold War. Our pioneer-pilgrim, hard-fighting, gold-mining, wagon-training, gun-fighting ancestors were so hard, Kid Rock’sAmerican Bad Ass should have played when they walked into a room. We conquered a continent, built the Hoover Dam, went to the moon, and not only did our Olympic athletes refuse to dip our flag to Hitler during the 1936 Olympics, we made the most evil man who ever lived kill himself in fear before we could get to him.

That’s the stock that Americans come from, which begs an obvious question: What the hell happened to us?

How did the toughest, most independent society since Sparta turn into a wuss factory full of people who’ve never had an adventure in their life outside of a video game? We now have an entire grievance industry full of losers who spend all their time complaining that they’re “offended” by everything from the name of the Redskins to the “Patriarchy” to politicians using “violent language” like “crosshairs” and “job killing.” Can you imagine a member of the Greatest Generation complaining because a Japanese soldier called him a mean name? Do you think the wagon trains on the Oregon Train were more worried about “isms” or trying to avoid dying of dysentery and being scalped?

So back to that central question: How did Americans get so soft, so fast?”

The NSA Is Recording And Storing Every Single Phone Call In A Foreign Country

” The National Security Agency (NSA) has built and is apparently currently operating a program that allows them to capture and review every single phone call made inside a foreign country, according to a new report from The Washington Post based on documents supplied by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

Basically, the NSA is DVRing an entire country’s worth of phone conversations. From the Post story:

The voice interception program, called MYSTIC, began in 2009. Its RETRO tool, short for “retrospective retrieval,” and related projects reached full capacity against the first target nation in 2011. Planning documents two years later anticipated similar operations elsewhere.”

” In the initial deployment, collection systems are recording “every single” conversation nationwide, storing billions of them in a 30-day rolling buffer that clears the oldest calls as new ones arrive, according to a classified summary.

Right now, the program is operational in at least one country. Yet although it was built with collection from only one foreign nation in mind, the agency has contemplated using it on other nations as well. It’s possible, in fact, that the program has expanded beyond its initial target already: “

ATF Agents Ignore Restraining Order And Raid Ares Armor In California

Here is a video of the beginning of the illegal raid by ATF …

” Ares Armor was raided by ATF agents despite a restraining order issued by a federal judge last week. The National City, California gun parts stores is owned by Dimitri Karras. The former Marine refused to turn his AR-15 lower receiver customer list over to the federal government as demanded. Karras, said Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents wanted to investigate his more than 5,000 California customers who purchased gun parts from his store. “

And here is video of the fascists attempting to open the company’s safe …

” ATF agents threatened to close Ares Armor down if Karras did not turn over his customer list. The customers reportedly purchased a specific 80 percent lower receiver used to build an AR-15 rifle. The lower receiver serves as the base of the semi-automatic rifle. The Department of Justice and the ATF contend that “plastic” lower receivers (polymer not 3-D printed parts) in question are not legal because they do not have a serial number. Some gun owners who have purchased the polymer AR-15 lower receiver maintain the semi-automatic gun part does contain identifying numbers.”

Lastly we have video from NutNFancy that contains an interview with Ares owner Dimitri Karras …

” During the Saturday ATF raid on Ares Armor, the agent converged upon the store in full tactical gear and confiscated the AR-lower receivers. Just prior to the raid, both plain clothes and undercover ATF agents allegedly questioning customers outside of the California gun store.”

Internet Transition Triggers GOP Backlash

” The Obama administration’s decision to relinquish oversight over the group that manages the Internet’s architecture has raised an early red flag with Republicans, who blast the move as a threat to free speech.

Exactly who would regulate the Web’s back-end is unclear, but the decision already has sparked backlash among some in the GOP, who warn it could allow the United Nations or authoritarian countries to step in and seize control of the Web.

U.S. lawmakers have long warned about the dangers of ceding ICANN’s authority to the International Telecommunication Union, a United Nations agency. They see the U.N. as a vehicle for countries with tight constraints to allow even greater online censorship. Congress unanimously passed Bono’s resolution ahead of a 2012 ITU meeting to reinforce America’s commitment to an open Internet.”

At first glance the Obama administration’s promise to relinquish control over ICANN seems like a good idea … one less thing the government controls … but given that this administration is not known for championing liberty and the free markets one is left wondering if this is a back-handed way for the Statists to cede control over the free flow of information to the UN or some other Statist body while appearing to do the opposite .

There is much talk as well that this new move opens the door to an internet tax and censorship which should be of concern to us all . If there is one thing we know about the Obama administration it is that it loves both taxes and regulation so we cannot help but wonder that something larger is at play here than “fairness” and freedom .

Wyoming Welder Faces $75,000 A Day In EPA Fines For Building Pond On His Property

Johnson pond wyoming epa.jpg

” All Andy Johnson wanted to do was build a stock pond on his sprawling eight-acre Wyoming farm. He and his wife Katie spent hours constructing it, filling it with crystal-clear water, and bringing in brook and brown trout, ducks and geese. It was a place where his horses could drink and graze, and a private playground for his three children.

But instead of enjoying the fruits of his labor, the Wyoming welder says he was harangued by the federal government, stuck in what he calls a petty power play by the Environmental Protection Agency. He claims the agency is now threatening him with civil and criminal penalties – including the threat of a $75,000-a-day fine.

“ I have not paid them a dime nor will I,” a defiant Johnson told FoxNews.com. “I will go bankrupt if I have to fighting it. My wife and I built [the pond] together. We put our blood, sweat and tears into it. It was our dream.”

The government says he violated the Clean Water Act by building a dam on a creek without a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. Further, the EPA claims that material from his pond is being discharged into other waterways. Johnson says he built a stock pond — a man-made pond meant to attract wildlife — which is exempt from Clean Water Act regulations.

The property owner says he followed the state rules for a stock pond when he built it in 2012 and has an April 4-dated letter from the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office to prove it.

“ Said permit is in good standing and is entitled to be exercised exactly as permitted,” the state agency letter to Johnson said.

But the EPA isn’t backing down and argues they have final say over the issue. They also say Johnson needs to restore the land or face the fines.

Johnson plans to fight. “This goes a lot further than a pond,” he said. “It’s about a person’s rights. I have three little kids. I am not going to roll over and let [the government] tell me what I can do on my land. I followed the rules.”

Obama’s Anti-Second Amendment Nominee For Surgeon General: Guns Are a Healthcare Issue

” The age of politicizing everything is here and President Obama’s pick for Surgeon General is no different. Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy has been tapped to lead the charge when it comes to promoting public health with the full weight of the federal government behind him. He also has a history of promoting gun control, of slamming the Second Amendment and has publicly called guns a “healthcare issue” and public health threat.

Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy is the president and founder of Doctors for America, which grew from the campaign organization that was called Doctors for Obama, started in 2008. The organization has advocated for a number of liberal initiatives, including strongly supporting the passage of Obamacare and Medicaid expansion.

The group has also been supportive of the Obama administration’s failed push for expanding gun control laws in 2013. It successfully fought a proposed Florida law that would have prevented doctors from including in a person’s medical file whether they are a gun owner. Doctors for America has referred to guns as a public health threat, and circulated a petition to pressure Congress to pass stricter gun laws.”

Central Valley Man Sentenced To 14 Years For Pointing Laser At Police Helicopter

” A Central California man convicted of pointing a high-powered laser at a police helicopter was sentenced Monday to spend 14 years in federal prison, a term prosecutors believe to be among the region’s longest for such a crime.

Sergio Patrick Rodriguez, 26, of Clovis, was accused of pointing a green laser 13 times more powerful than common pointers at a Fresno Police Department helicopter in 2012. The helicopter had been called to an apartment complex where an emergency helicopter for a children’s hospital also reported being targeted by a laser. Prosecutors said Rodriguez purposely aimed his laser at police.

“ This is not a game,” U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner said in a statement. “It is dangerous, and it is a felony.”

A jury found Rodriguez guilty of attempting to interfere with the safe operation of an aircraft and aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.”

First off we will admit that what Mr Rodriguez did was idiotic and potentially dangerous but how is a thoughtless stunt with no injuries involved worth 14 years of a man’s life ?

The answer plain and simple is that it’s not … at least it wouldn’t be if the crime was committed against you or me . For Ch***t’s sake murderers of civilians get lesser sentences than this but because it was against the “authorities” this man is going to pay .

Let that be a warning to all you peasants . Know your place or you will pay . The Elites lives and rights trump yours always . We are your “Masters” . Statism rules .

In Light Of The Ongoing Constitutional Crisis In Connecticut We Thought This Article Deserved Reviewing

” As we look back on the horrors of the dictatorships and autocracies of the past, one particular question consistently arises; how was it possible for the common men of these eras to NOT notice what was happening around them? How could they have stood as statues unaware or uncaring as their cultures were overrun by fascism, communism, collectivism, and elitism? Of course, we have the advantage of hindsight, and are able to research and examine the misdeeds of the past at our leisure. Unfortunately, such hindsight does not necessarily shield us from the long cast shadow of tyranny in our own day. For that, the increasingly uncommon gift of foresight is required…

At bottom, the success of despotic governments and Big Brother societies hinges upon a certain number of political, financial, and cultural developments. The first of which is an unwillingness in the general populace to secure and defend their own freedoms, making them completely reliant on corrupt establishment leadership. For totalitarianism to take hold, the masses must not only neglect the plight of their country, and the plight of others, but also be completely uninformed of the inherent indirect threats to their personal safety. They must abandon all responsibility for their destinies, and lose all respect for their own humanity. They must, indeed, become domesticated and mindless herd animals without regard for anything except their fleeting momentary desires for entertainment and short term survival. For a lumbering bloodthirsty behemoth to actually sneak up on you, you have to be pretty damnably oblivious.

The prevalence of apathy and ignorance sets the stage for the slow and highly deliberate process of centralization. Once dishonest governments accomplish an atmosphere of inaction and condition a sense of frailty within the citizenry, the sky is truly the limit. However, a murderous power-monger’s day is never quite done. In my recent article ‘The Essential Rules of Liberty’ we explored the fundamentally unassailable actions and mental preparations required to ensure the continuance of a free society. In this article, let’s examine the frequently wielded tools of tyrants in their invariably insane quests for total control… “

Oregon Man Arrested After Allegedly Talking About Guns On Bus

” On Tuesday, 41-year-old Patrick O’Brien Nolin found himself on the wrong side of the law after he allegedly spoke about having a loaded gun on a bus in Portland, Ore., KATU reported.

According to KATU, a TriMet bus driver reportedly overheard Nolin allegedly talking about being armed, and contacted police.

As officers approached the bus, they received reports that Nolin’s alleged weapon was “cocked and loaded.”

Even though Nolin did not have a gun, he was arrested anyway, and taken to the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Interfering With Public Transportation, a Class A misdemeanor.”

The Levee Is Going To Break

” A Youtube style montage exposing the everyday horrors which innocent citizens are met with when dealing with law enforcement.”

The above video barely scratches the surface on the subject of State violence against the people who pay the bills . Some of those unfortunates died while some where permanently disabled and some just injured to some degree or another , while all of them , their loved ones and anyone with a conscience who has witnessed these brutal attacks have lost their respect for authority .

The filmmaker(s) are to be commended for taking the time to amass these horrific tactics in one place and the video deserves to be spread far and wide . To go along with these shocking scenes we thought it appropriate to include some links to the hard numbers of citizens of the US suffering and dying at the hands of those charged with the task to “protect and serve ” .

Below are some links to those killed by police in the past few years …

Lists of Killings

” The lists below are incomplete, as the annual average number of justifiable homicides alone is estimated to be near 400.[1] Although Congress instructed the Attorney General in 1994 to compile and publish annual statistics on police use of excessive force, this was never carried out, and the FBI does not collect this data either.”

So we see that despite an order from Congress there is , to this day , no official record of the abuse and death heaped upon the citizenry by their “public servants” in law enforcement . It is left up to the more than 17,000 individual police departments throughout the US to police themselves and as the reader can predict most killings and brutalizations are found to be justified when investigated by the offending parties .

The use of SWAT teams on what has become a very commonplace , tyrannical tactic , reminiscent of the jack-booted thugs kicking in the door in the middle of the night in some totalitarian dictatorship is more appropriate behavior to be attributed to the Stasi or the KGB and far from something that should be acceptable in the “land of the free” .

The exponential growth of the no-knock raid has undoubtedly fueled the drastic climb in police killings over the past couple of decades . For those less well-informed Wiki offers these facts about paramilitary home invasions :

” In the United States, a no knock warrant is a warrant issued by a judge that allows law enforcement officers to enter a property without immediate prior notification of the residents, such as by knocking or ringing a doorbell. In most cases, law enforcement will identify themselves just before they forcefully enter the property. It is issued under the belief that any evidence they hope to find can be destroyed during the time that police identify themselves and the time they secure the area, or in the event where there is a large perceived threat to officer safety during the execution of the warrant.”

If the justification for the tactic of no-knock raids is to prevent the destruction of evidence then the authorities are already admitting that these raids are not about stopping an “imminent threat” to the innocent , but to prevent some pot leaves from being flushed down the toilet , for what other evidence can be destroyed in a matter of minutes ? Certainly not murder weapons . Wiki continues:

” The Department of Justice writes:

Federal judges and magistrates may lawfully and constitutionally issue “no-knock” warrants where circumstances justify a no-knock entry, and federal law enforcement officers may lawfully apply for such warrants under such circumstances. Although officers need not take affirmative steps to make an independent re-verification of the circumstances already recognized by a magistrate in issuing a no-knock warrant, such a warrant does not entitle officers to disregard reliable information clearly negating the existence of exigent circumstances when they actually receive such information before execution of the warrant.

The number of no-knock raids has increased from 3,000 in 1981 to more than 50,000 in 2005, according to Peter Kraska, a criminologist at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.[1] Raids that lead to deaths of innocent people are increasingly common; since the early 1980s, 40 bystanders have been killed, according to the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C.[1]

The Cato Institute has referred to botched paramilitary police raids as an “epidemic of isolated incidents” and offers an interactive map of these “isolated incidents” which you can access by clicking on the graphic below :

Botched SWAT Raids

Just a brief perusal of the above map , even without benefit of the interactive feature , demonstrates that these nazi-like tactics are hardly “isolated incidents” . The number of no-knock raids , erroneous or not , now exceeds 40,000 PER YEAR . Think about that figure . It staggers the imagination that for every murder committed in the US the police are conducting over three SWAT style paramilitary raids .

That’s right , with an average of 16,000 murders annually the police can still find reason to conduct three times that many life threatening raids on private citizens . That figure averages out to a staggering 109.5 raids PER DAY , every day , year in , year out . In pursuit of what ? Murderers ? What crime could possibly justify the use of overwhelming “military” force on the citizens besides the danger of imminent threat ?

The numbers get even worse when one considers the fact that no insignificant number of the murderers are caught in the act while others commit suicide . That means that the ratio of SWAT raids to violent crime apprehensions is even more abhorrent than our initial calculations would indicate .

This behavior is unworthy of the country alleged to be a beacon of hope and liberty to the world and must be stopped before our liberties are gone forever , assuming it’s not already too late . It is too late for these poor souls . Have a look at some of the casualties of the war on drugs , which is in reality a war on us all , and see the faces of some of those that paid the ultimate price for our burgeoning Police State .
