Unannounced Live Shooter Drill At Ore. School Terrifies Teachers
” Teachers at Oregon’s Pine Eagle Charter School were shocked when two masked men burst into the faculty meeting room last Friday and opened fire.
Luckily students were at home while only school staff attended the in-service day. The shooters turned out to be school employees shooting blank rounds to test the reaction from the 15 teachers present. The drill, which was planned ahead of time, was kept secret from all teachers on the receiving end.
The school’s principal Cammie DeCastro noted that “not many” of the 15 teachers in the meeting room would have survived according to The Oregonian.
Given what some feel is media fear-mongering after tragic incidents at schools, many would think school shootings are on the rise when they are actually not. Currently a child is three times more likely to be struck by lightning than witness a school shooting.”

$433K Union Theft Not Reported Because Of “Potential Impact On Membership”

” The theft of more than $433,000 by a former local treasurer was covered up by the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) because the union feared the “potential impact on membership and loss of members,” according to an insurance claim document obtained by the Salisbury Daily Times.
Denise Inez Owens was the treasurer of the Worcester County Teachers Association (WCTA) when she stole state and national dues money to feed her gambling addiction. MSEA discovered the embezzlement in March 2009, but failed to report it to authorities. Instead the union persuaded Owens to sign a confession and agree to a restitution plan. Owens then resigned her union position and returned to work as a middle school teacher without notifying the school district of her predicament.”

” Owens, 58, has repaid about $195,000 of the money she took, according to her attorney, Robert L. Marvel Jr.
He noted for the judge his client’s “unblemished” criminal history, saying she hadn’t as much as a traffic ticket on her record.
She told the judge that the stealing had been hanging over her head for three years, and she felt relieved to have been caught.”
She would like us to believe that she is relieved to be caught when in fact she was caught red-handed and protected by the union she robbed for three years … yeah , right .
And how has she managed to pay back $65 K annually for the past three years on a teacher’s salary ?
Ex-Teacher Guilty Of Embezzlement; Gambled $1 Million At Delaware Casinos
” Prosecutors said their investigation showed that during a period of three years, Owens had visited casinos in Delaware on more than 600 occasions, and gambled more than $1 million.
The Maryland State Education Association chose not to disclose the embezzlement to authorities when they learned about it in March 2009, according to Worcester County Assistant State’s Attorney Steven Rakow.
“I think the coverup of that theft, and the lies to the teachers, is far worse morally than Denise Owens having a severe gambling problem,” Rakow said. “There was some secret agreement; it was never written down.” “
We would like to know where the other half million came from that the prosecutors showed that she had p**sed away over three years .
This woman just seems to pull cash out of thin air , which will come in handy when she is released from jail and has to pay back $70K annually during her first three years back in the world as a convicted felon .
We assume that the new qualification on her resume will preclude her from ever working in her chosen profession again .

SHOOTING AT TAFT UNION HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE: TEACHER TALKED STUDENT DOWN

” Update 12:51 PST: Based on a news conference provide by Kern County and Taft police, here is the sequence of events this morning:
- The shooter is a 16 y.o. male who did not attend the start of class this morning.
- The shooter was seen walking on campus carrying a shotgun. The person who saw him called 911 which initiated a police response even before the shooting took place.
- The shooter entered a class he was a student in and shot one 16 y.o. boy.
- The teacher in the class is being called a hero for talking to the shooter while students fled the classroom through a back door.
- The shooter reportedly attempted to shoot a 2nd student who he named but the teacher apparently prevented it.
- As the teacher was talking to the shooter an unarmed campus supervisor approached and began talking to him as well.
- The shooter eventually put the gun down at which point police had reached the scene and arrested him.
- The teacher was injured in the head by buckshot but declined treatment at the scene.
- Taft Union High usually has an armed School Resource Office on campus but he was not there today because he was snowed in at home.
- Police have no information on where the shooter got the gun used in the incident.
- Finally, the media on scene claims that multiple parents have told them that a student at Taft Union was suspended last year for making a “hit list.” Some are claiming that individual is the shooter in today’s incident but police have not offered any confirmation of this.

” David Heber, the father of teacher Ryan Heber, said that his son is doing okay.
David said in an interview with 23ABC News, “(Ryan’s) a fantastic and good young man, and I appreciate him being true to himself.”Heber was shot in the head by a stray fragment, multiple sources told 23ABC News.
Heber refused medical treatment.
Heber and a campus security officer distracted the shooter to let the other students leave the room. “

Teacher Stomps on American Flag inside Classroom
” A South Carolina school district has launched an investigation into a high school teacher who allegedly threw an American flag on the floor and stomped on it as a classroom full of students watched.
Mark Bounds, a spokesman for the Lexington –Richland5 School District, confirmed to Fox News that an English teacher at Chapin High School was placed on leave as they investigate the incident.
“There were allegations that at a teacher took a flag down from the post in the classroom and stepped on that flag as part of the lesson,” Bounds said, indicating the act was repeated in several other classes. “It was not a spontaneous act, but one he worked into the lesson.”
He said there was “sufficient evidence that the teacher needed to be put on administrative leave and a full investigation needed to take place.”
Bounds said they could not provide additional information because it was a personnel matter – but he stressed that the school district took the matter extremely seriously.
“We have a very patriotic community with many military veterans,” he said. “Fort Jackson, the largest training base in the world is part of our community and you can see why this is especially important.”
Michael Copeland’s daughter was in the classroom when the incident occurred. He told television stationWIS that the teacher’s actions were disrespectful and unpatriotic. “

Alabama Teen Arrested For Plotting Homemade Bomb Attack At School
“ Seale - Alabama officials have arrested a Russell County High School teen who planned to use homemade explosive devises to attack fellow students.
Derek Shrout, a 17-year-old student at Russell County High School, was arrested on Friday after a teacher found a journal which contained plans to attack at least six specifically named students and one teacher. The journal was written by Shrout. Upon reading the journal, the teacher turned it over to a school administrator who then contacted Officer Tommy Morrison, the school’s resource officer.
Russell County Sheriff, Heath Taylor, told the Ledger-Enquirer:
“The teacher could have just discarded the journal but didn’t. The system worked and thank God, it did. We avoided a very bad situation.” “

Push to Arm School Teachers Gains Traction Around Country (VIDEO)
” The NRA’s plan to arm teachers as a way to prevent future mass shootings is taking hold in some states around the country thanks to a little help from local gun rights organizations.
In Ohio, Jim Irvine – the president of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation - is giving away 24 free passes to his $1000 ‘Armed Teacher Training Program.’ So far, he’s received over 400 applications for the three-day tactical defense course being held this spring.
“What better use for an educational foundation than to help educators protect our children,” Irvine told the Associated Press.
Under state law, a law-abiding citizen with a valid concealed carry permit can bring a firearm on school grounds if he/she has the school district’s permission. Irvine suspects that more districts will be coming around to the idea of arming teachers, faculty and staff in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. “
School District Cancels Class So Teachers Can Protest ‘Right-to-Work’
” A Michigan public school district has canceled classes for all students on Tuesday, freeing teachers to protest the scheduled approval of a right-to-work bill at the state capitol.
The final version of the bill — which would make it legal for workers to buck joining a union — is expected to be signed into law by Rick Snyder, the state’s Republican governor, on Tuesday. While teachers all over the state are expected to skip work to protest the bill, a school district in southeast Michigan preemptively cancelled classes to aid its teachers’ actions.
“Due to the anticipated high absenteeism for tomorrow, Tuesday Dec. 11, the Taylor School District will be closed for students,” said district officials in a statement, as reported by The Detroit News. “No students are to report to school. …”

Don’t let anyone tell you that the unions aren’t Big Business . What else can you call an entity that burns though the better part of half a BILLION dollars a year ? It sure ain’t no “mom and pop” operation now is it ?
And that brings us to the most galling aspect of the union (taxpayer funds) spending … Political spending . You haven’t forgotten where all this money comes from , have you ? Remember schools , teacher and unions GENERATE NO REVENUE … Every dime they spend comes from us , the taxpayers .
Read this and weep as you see that we are given the bill to pay for them to lobby for ever greater salaries and benefits with our own money .
A staggering amount of TAXPAYER FUNDS no matter how you look at it .Yet we are forever told that we need to throw more and more money into a system that produces less and less per dollar of investment .

“A Philadelphia high school teacher is under investigation after she reportedly ordered a student to take off a t-shirt supporting Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign and compared the shirt to a Ku Klux Klan sheet.
The incident occurred at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond. When the student refused the order, she tried to throw the girl out of class.
The teacher reportedly told the 16-year-old student that the high school was a “Democratic school” and then threatened to use a marker to cross out Romney’s name.
Philadelphia School District spokesman Fernando Gallard confirmed to Philly.com that, “a teacher made some comments to a student wearing a Romney t-shirt in their classroom. “
