6 Dead Among 24 Shot Saturday Afternoon, Sunday Morning

” Two dozen people were shot Saturday afternoon into Father’s Day Sunday across the city, according to authorities.

Of the 24 people shot, six died either at the crime scenes or at local hospitals. The youngest was 16. One of the men killed was an armed man shot by police after he raised a 9-millimeter handgun in their direction after bailing from a moving car, authorities said.

The shootings stretched from 9400 S. Loomis Avenue on the South Side up to about North Avenue and Pulaski in the Hermosa neighborhood.”

This is the utopia promised us all if we just let the Left have their way on a nationwide scale . Who wouldn’t want their neighborhood to be a replica of Democratic controlled Chicago or Detroit ?

Goodbye To The War On Drugs?

Nothing spectacular will come out of the meeting, but that doesn’t really matter: at long last Latin America and the United States are officially discussing what presidents and governments could only whisper about until recently. Washington, theoretically opposed to anything that resembles decriminalization, has softened its position in practice.

The OAS report, which combines a detailed analysis of drug production and of what the illegal trade represents with an account of the state’s response, doesn’t call for anything explicit. It only implies that a change in the approach to drugs could bring about at least partially the results that have eluded the hemisphere thus far.

What the billions of dollars poured into the drug war have achieved is more violence, corruption and institutional weakness, and therefore less democracy under the rule of law. As always happens when the law is divorced from reality, an empire has emerged outside of the legal framework built on powerful incentives and with so much power that it can never be defeated despite the victories the authorities believe they obtain from time to time.”

Woolwich: Riot Police Contain EDL Supporters

” English Defence League supporters have thrown missiles at police in Woolwich after a machete attack that left one man dead.

A group of between 75 and 100 men gathered at The Queen’s Arms pub on Burrage Grove, where they sang nationalistic songs.

Sky News correspondent Alistair Bunkall, who is at the scene, said: “As soon as the EDL got into the town centre … it became not only a lot harder for the police to try and contain anything, but also the aggression (increased) quite considerably.”

May Day Rally Turns Violent In Seattle

” Police used “flash bangs” and pepper spray against some protesters who pelted them with rocks and bottles late Wednesday, as violence erupted during May Day in Seattle.

Several dozen protesters, many using bandanas to cover their faces, began clashing with police in downtown Seattle hours after a peaceful immigrant-rights march ended.

In the aftermath, 18 people were arrested, the Seattle Police Capt. Chris Fowler said.

Fowler said that eight officer were injured, mostly scrapes and bruises. One officer was hit by a rock on her knee.

The violence stemmed from a march that billed itself as an “anti-capitalism” protest. Initially, the protesters concentrated on a business sector of downtown Seattle.”

A Trippy Idea Or Fiscal Genius? Two Pols Idea To Smoke Away The Deficit

” What if the United States could shrink the federal deficit and get high at the same time? Two congressmen calling for the legalization of recreational marijuana say it’s not such a trippy idea.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) say marijuana legalization is a common sense fiscal policy that could save the government billions of dollars through a combination of tax revenues and savings from not pursuing costly enforcement and incarceration.

“We are trying to rationalize federal drug policy,” Blumenauer tells Top Line. “We’re spending too much money on enforcement for something most Americans think should be legal, and we’re losing revenue. And we’re going to create federal train wreck if we don’t fix it.”

They say the federal government is behind the curve of states like Washington and Colorado, where recreational marijuana is regulated and taxed.”

Mexican, U.S. Media Too Scared To Cover Border Crime

” Violence along the southern border has gotten so out of control that both Mexican and American journalists have stopped reporting it out of fear that drug cartels will retaliate against them and their families.

This means Americans will be kept in the dark about the crisis along the porous and increasingly dangerous Mexican border. We certainly can’t expect the truth from the government. Remember that the nation’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, insists that the region is “as secure as it has ever been.” This delusional assessment has been repeated by Napolitano over and over again in a seemingly desperate effort to make people believe it.

That means no one really knows the true magnitude of the violence, though it’s apparent that the U.S. government is downplaying it. “It would seem that drug violence only stops at the Mexican border in the imaginations of Washington politicians,” Maril says, offering a recent example in Reynosa, the twin border city of McAllen in south Texas. A small local newspaper reporter dared to publish this: “Fear and panic filled the streets as rival gunmen battled during a three-hour firefight that saw automatic weapons and grenades used.”  ”

… Leftism Is Violence

” There’s nothing for me to add to the great work already done by SooperMexicanMediaiteMichelle MalkinSean Hannity and others critiquing the media coverage of alleged mad dog cop-killer Christopher Jordan Dorner. The media has been dishonest in trying to cover up Dorner’s left-wing views. They’ve been beyond hypocritical in drawing no link between Dorner’s acts and his politics — after they have repeatedly tried to link acts of violence to conservatism even when, as usual, there was no link to be made. Worst of all, as Big Government has shown, they are beginning to try to justify the slaughter.

Most of the conservative commentators listed above have been careful to point out that connections between a madman and his politics, whether right or left, should only be drawn with caution. And they all say that it’s irresponsible to blame political commentators, right or left, for the actions of a lunatic who may have taken inspiration from them.

I’m not so sure. Violence is inherent in left-wing philosophy, and the violence it inspires should be laid at its door.”

What Every Legislator – And Citizen – Needs to Know

” No one wants to ever again see anything like the senseless slaughter of 26 people – including 20 children – at a school. But as legislators turn toward creating new gun laws, here are five facts they need to know.

1. Violent crime – including violent crime using guns – has dropped massively over the past 20 years.

The violent crime rate - which includes murder, rape, and beatings – is half of what it was in the early 1990s. And the violent crime rate involving the use of weapons has also declined at a similar pace.

2. Mass shootings have not increased in recent years.

Despite terrifying events like Sandy Hook or last summer’s theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, mass shootings are not becoming more frequent. “There is no pattern, there is no increase,” says criminologist James Allen Fox of Northeastern University, who studies the issue. Other data shows that mass killings peaked in 1929.”

‘I Don’t Think It’s About More Gun Control’

Well , what do you know , again we find ourselves in agreement with someone we seldom agree with . That flock of pigs is growing .

” Actor Samuel L. Jackson is refusing to join the chorus of actors, celebrities and politicians pushing for more gun control in the wake of the deadly massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

“I don’t think it’s about more gun control,” Jackson told the Los Angeles Times. “I grew up in the South with guns everywhere, and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.”

Jackson, one of the stars in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming violent Civil-War era thriller “Django Unchained,” said parents and role models are more important than gun control laws. “

” Violence, naked force, has settled
more issues in history than has any
other factor, and the contrary
opinion is wishful thinking at its
worst. Nations and peoples who
forget this basic truth have always
paid for it with their lives and
freedoms. “

Bozell Blasts ABC, CBS, and NBC For Censoring Footage of Union Violence

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell reacts:

The pro-union broadcast networks are deliberately censoring footage of thuggish union violence directed at conservatives. If a Tea Partier had physically assaulted a liberal journalist or ripped down a structure occupied by a liberal organization all on video, the footage would be broadcast on an endless loop. ABC, CBS, and NBC have a responsibility to the American people to expose what’s really happening in Michigan. Their double standard is absolutely outrageous.”

Subject: 10 urgent preparations for possible riots after the Presidential election

image

(NaturalNews) by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger- You’ve probably seen the news all over the ‘net: If Romney wins the election on November 6, many Obama supporters plan to riot in the streets. A surprising number have announced their plans to “kill Romney” Simultaneously, FEMA has announced it is preparing for an event involving “mass casualties.”  Regardless of who you support in the coming election, the possibility of post-election riots is a reality. Here are 12 things you need to realize right now if you hope to stay safe should such an outcome unfold.

#1) The riots will likely occur in the inner cities. If at all possible, get out of the inner cities. In fact, you might want to think about moving out of the city altogether. Middle-class and upper-class suburbs will be safe, by the way. It’s mostly the inner cities that are likely to riot.

#2) The police will be almost instantly overwhelmed. Local peace officers are ridiculously short-staffed in cities all across the country, largely due to budget cuts. They have very little capacity to deal with any real outbreak of riots, so don’t expect calling 911 to have any impact at all.

#3) One of the greatest risks from riots is FIRES. Rioters love to set things on fire, as if burning down your own neighborhood is somehow an act of defiance against “The Man.” Even worse, rioters tend to shoot firearms at firemen who are trying to put out the fires. This causes firemen to evacuate the scene, after which fires burn out of control and do a lot more damage than they would have otherwise caused. The risk of fires spreading out of control in the inner city is surprisingly high.

#4) Innocent bystanders may be targeted with violence. Don’t be a “bystander” and you won’t be targeted (because you’re not around). The primary strategy is to simply not be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But We Are

Given the Left’s threats and propensity to act like petulant children , either the authorities are lying or are woefully unprepared .

” In spite of a slew of racially charged threats circulating across the internet, police officials say they do not expect any rioting to occur on the night of the election, no matter what the result.

“We’re not anticipating civil unrest on Election Night,” a spokesman for the Detroit police department told The Hill.

“We’re going to collect the ballots like we usually do. If a situation arises and we need to respond, we’ll respond to the scene and assess.” he added.

Police officials in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cleveland, Columbus, Miami, Houston and Los Angeles also claimed they are not preparing for any form of civil unrest, according to the report.

Infowars broke the story Monday that innumerable Obama supporters were making it known they intended to provoke violence and mayhem if their candidate loses, aggrieved at fears that Mitt Romney will take away government handouts. “

Breitbart

”Almost as quickly as the Occupy Unmasked film was released, Andrew Breitbart’s expose on the Occupy Wall Street movement, liberal critics began to attack the film’s honesty. Many claimed the film was inaccurate for portraying the movement as revolutionary in nature and prone to violence. Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin attended an advanced screening of the film and denounced it as “dishonest” for portraying the movement and its leaders as violent or driven by anything other than bettering the lives of Americans.”

More on the desperate desire of the media to tie ideology to tragedy , but only when it endorses their chosen narrative , ie Right/Tea Party -Evil , Left/OWS – Righteous .

Joel Gehrke

“More fundamentally, the search for political alignments is a dishonest attempt to create a
negative impression in the minds of the American populace. Correlation does not equal.causation. Even assuming that these reports of Tea Party allegiances were correct (which they
weren’t), they don’t tell observers much about the Tea Party.”

I’m a little late to this party , thanks to Bob Owens for pointing me to this Examiner article about the wondrous state of racial affairs , courtesy of the great racial “healer”.

” Al Sharpton recently said that Republicans were waging a war on Black people, (and) time to fire
back. I missed the memo; I didn’t realize Republicans had done that, and I’m not sure under whose orders.”

Fan the flames Rev ,

” Sharpton concluded that
Republicans are trying to take back the achievements of Blacks over the last half century because they don’t like the idea of a Black president. He’s simply fueling the flames of violence, hoping Black Americans will fight. “

“But instead of peacefully assembling to present their dog’s breakfast of causes — from hating
capitalism, to amnesty for illegal aliens, to halting foreclosures — they descended into violence and criminality that can only mean
worse to come.
Five anarchists were arrested in Cleveland by the FBI for trying to bomb a bridge. Authorities said
they had a wish list of other targets, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, the Justice Center of Cleveland and another bridge.
Two of the arrested — Brandon Baxter and Anthony Hayne — were named in past news reports as leaders of Occupy Cleveland.
Around New York, 10 envelopes full of white powder imitating anthrax were mailed to seven
banks, to Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office and to two media outlets, including Fox News. “This is a reminder that you are not in control,” the menacing notes read. “Happy May Day.” A
police spokesman told Reuters: “The messages indicated a link to today’s May Day demonstrations.”
