” By now you should know that the drug war was fabricated by the Elite and created a slave class that enriched corporations who construct and run prisons. Individual rights must be removed and accepted to advance to the next step.”

Both of these trumped up “wars” serve two purposes , neither of which has to do with public safety . Number one , they serve to enrich the corporate sector cronies of Congress , who in turn funnel vast sums into the campaign war chests of the very pols writing the laws that enrich the corporations and number two , they serve as a “reasonable” pretext for an ever-widening campaign to spread the influence of the State over our daily lives .

Watch the video below for some facts about the “war on drugs” and the prison industrial complex .

”  The war on drugs has been going on for more than three decades. Today, nearly 500,000 Americans are imprisoned on drug charges. In 1980 the number was 50,000. Last year $40 billion in taxpayer dollars were spent in fighting the war on drugs.

As a result of the incarceration obsession, the United States operates the largest prison system on the planet, and the U.S. nonviolent prisoner population is larger than the combined populations of Wyoming and Alaska. Try to imagine the Drug Enforcement Administration erecting razor wire barricades around two states to control crime and you’ll get the picture.

According to the U.S. Dept of Justice, the number of offenders under age 18 imprisoned for drug offenses increased twelvefold from 1985 to 1997. The group most affected by this propensity for incarceration is African-Americans. From 1985 to 1997, the percentage of African-American young people put in prison increased from 53 to 62 percent.

Today, 89 percent of police departments have paramilitary units, and 46 percent have been trained by active duty armed forces. The most common use of paramilitary units is serving drug-related search warrants, which usually involve no-knock entries into private homes.”

On the “war on terror” side of the equation , President Eisenhower foresaw the rise of corporate welfare and cronyism when in his farewell speech he coined the phrase “military industrial complex” . He may not have anticipated the rise of Statism that would accompany the ascendence of the Corporate/Congressional alliance but his warning was clear .

When you combine the two with the State’s never-ending quest for more power the police state is the inevitable result , and here we are .

And so with the aid of a media establishment that now amounts to little more than a Statist mouthpiece and a State monopoly on the education system the people have been conditioned to accept the lie that the State is the only thing standing between  their continued well-being and a world run amok by terrorists and criminal and they unfortunately lack the inquisitiveness to ask the obvious questions , like “Why?” .

The notion of asking questions has been bred out of the American breed and the serfs are only too happy to buy some more s**t on credit , sit back and watch TV and take Leviathan’s word that this is all being done for “their own good” … to preserve the security of the State and it’s people while two centuries ago , back when critical thought was the norm , Benjamin Franklin warned :

” Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Navy SEALs Ordered To Remove ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ Navy Jack

From Uniforms

Navy Jack

” The Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag, one that has earned a revered place in America’s naval history and a beloved place in sailor’s hearts, through its use for over two centuries. This symbol of America’s naval ferocity has spanned our country’s entire existence, flying from the masts of the Continental Navy during the war of independence, to today’s War on Terror. In fact, an amendment to the Navy code called SECNAV Instruction 10520.6 clearly states that as of 31 May 2002 all ships are to fly the flag throughout the duration of the War on Terror.

So why would ranking SEAL commanders ban the historical symbol? Is the proverbial top bass banning the flag? Is President Obama? “” The Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag, one that has earned a revered place in America’s naval history and a beloved place in sailor’s hearts, through its use for over two centuries.     For the uninitiated here are some links to the storied history of the Navy Jack , a history that is irrevocably entwined with the history of our country itself and beautifully reflects the “radicalism” of the Founders and our great nation .

Is The US An Authoritarian National Surveillance State?

To quote the Blogfather : ” Yes . Next Question”

”  An article by Jack Balkin a Yale law professor discusses what he calls the new national surveillance state that is being created in many countries including the US.

Balkin describes the national surveillance state as follows: “In the National Surveillance State, the government uses surveillance, data collection, collation and analysis to identify problems, to head off potential threats, to govern populations, and to deliver valuable social services. The National Surveillance State is a special case of the Information State – a state that tries to identify and solve problems of governance through the collection, collation, analysis and production of information.”
Balkin suggests that the War on Terror is a familiar justification for the national surveillance state but there are other causes most notably the fast and accelerating developments in information technology that make more surveillance possible.
The question for Barkin is not whether we should have a surveillance state since the surveillance state is certainly here but what type of surveillance state we will have. He notes that there are a number of dangers posed by the surveillance state. With all the data collected there may be a move towards a parallel track of preventative law enforcement that may be contrary to guarantees of a bill of rights.”

The Panopticon State

Where the government can see, it can send a drone.

” I’m a long, long way from Rand Paul’s view of the world (I’m basically a 19th-century imperialist a hundred years past sell-by date), but I’m far from sanguine about America’s drone fever. For all its advantages to this administration — no awkward prisoners to be housed at Gitmo, no military casualties for the evening news — the unheard, unseen, unmanned drone raining down death from the skies confirms for those on the receiving end al-Qaeda’s critique of its enemies: As they see it, we have the best technology and the worst will; we choose aerial assassination and its attendant collateral damage because we are risk-averse, and so remote, antiseptic, long-distance, computer-programmed warfare is all that we can bear. Our technological strength betrays our psychological weakness.

And in a certain sense they’re right: Afghanistan is winding down, at best, to join the long list of America’s unwon wars, in which, 48 hours after departure, there will be no trace that we were ever there. The guys with drones are losing to the guys with fertilizer — because they mean it, and we don’t. The drone thus has come to symbolize the central defect of America’s “war on terror,” which is that it’s all means and no end: We’re fighting the symptoms rather than the cause.

For a war without strategic purpose, a drone’ll do.”

“The office of the Director of National Intelligence is both confirming that the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi was deliberately planned in advance and excusing the White House for getting the story wrong. Officials are trying to determine if a mysterious, little known organization called “Al-Qaeda” had something to do with the attack. This doesn’t seem likely, as Al-Qaeda was reported dead or at least in what former Vice President Cheney would have called its “death throes” in Pakistan last spring, but you never know.”

“Rickenbacker International Airport hummed with excitement as tearful family members greeted 235 Ohio Army National Guard soldiers from all over the state, including many from Southwest Ohio.”

Live blog: Five Aussie soldiers killed in Afghanistan

“Defence has confirmed that five Australian soldiers have been killed in two separate incidents in Afghanistan.

Three Australian soldiers were killed by a man in an Afghan army uniform in a ‘green on blue’ attack at a base in Uruzgan province in the south of the country yesterday.

Two other Australian soldiers were wounded in that incident.

In a separate incident early this morning, two special forces soldiers were also killed when their chopper crashed in the Helmand province.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard said that in a war of so many losses, this was Australia’s single worst day in Afghanistan and “the most losses in combat since the days of the Vietnam War”.”

Silver Star Recipients

398  Total Awards

These are only the recipients we have thus fire identified and confirmed. USMC totals are believed 100% complete. We believe Navy and USAF totals to be about 90% complete, but estimate that the Army may have as many as 100 recipients not yet identified in our database.

Army Navy* Marines Air Force TOTAL
Iraq 178 10 73 10 270
Afghanistan 88 1 4 18 111

Total

265 28* 77 28 398
*Published news reports indicate that as of March 2008, TWENTY-THREE U.S. Navy SEALs have been awarded the Silver Star in GWOT. We have thus far identified only FOUR of them.

The makings of a police state are all around us . This is just the tip of the iceberg . The terrorists are winning . Even without a major attack in over a decade they have managed to get us to approve of the erosion of our own liberties in the name of “public safety” .As Benjamin Franklin said ” Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. “

Are we deserving of Liberty ?

Some National Guard footage .

This is a bittersweet subject that had never crossed my mind . On reflection it seems such an obvious thing but I have to admit , somewhat shamefully that I’ve never given any thought to American soldiers donating organs . It is just another of the many ways that the American GI , through their sacrifice improves the world . Read it with a dry eye , I dare you .

“Since 2006, about 140 European lives have been saved because organs — hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys and pancreases — were harvested from 36 U.S.servicemembers determined to be brain dead from wounds suffered in Iraq or Afghanistan, according to statistics from the German foundation that oversees organ removal and implantation.

All casualties from combat funnel through the U.S. Army’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for care before being flown to the USA.

The window for removing, transporting and transplanting organs is narrow given the viability of organs, making it difficult for them to be used in the USA, says Insel Angus, a Landstuhl intensive care nurse involved in these cases.

Troops who are brain dead from head wounds arrive on a ventilator. Even with ventilator support, key organs last for only 24 to 36 hours, says Joel Newman, a spokesman for the German foundation’s USA counterpart, the United Network for Organ Sharing.”

If you are unfamiliar with the first person war reportage of Michael Yon you need to take a look . The man operates through donations and his own bankroll and can use all the help he can get . Michael has consistently  provided hard hitting , eyewitness war reports from the world’s hot spots . Give him a moment of your time ( and perhaps a couple bucks ) . You won’t regret it .

Just another case of “we the people ” knowing better what’s going on than our clueless leaders . Remind me again , what do we pay them for ?

“Voters overwhelmingly reject the idea that the war on terror is over one year after the death of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, although most feel his al Qaeda terrorist group is weaker today. But a majority also still thinks a terrorist attack is possible in the next year.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 11% of Likely U.S. Voters think the war on terror is over. Seventy-nine percent (79%) say that war, declared after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America, is not over. Another 11% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

  Cal Thomas :

“Those who believe the war against radical Islamists is over never really believed we were fighting one. They have been in denial from the start. Each time they have been proven wrong — the land for peace formula between Israel and her enemies is just one example among many — they have simply moved on to the next level of denial. Now they have reached rock bottom with nowhere else to go and are telling us we can live with Islamism.”
Funny , but if the war is over why do we need this or to put up with this or this or this or this or this ?

FIRE THEM ALL !!!

“It is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists. “the war on terror is over,” one senior State Department official who works on Mideast issues told me. “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”

Legitimate Islamism ? WTF ?

Thank goodness the State Dept. let us in on the secret . I’ll certainly breathe easier knowing that they have things well in hand .
