Obama Is The Ultimate Ad Hominem President

” At a fundraising event earlier this week in New York City, President Obama said this:

What’s blocking us right now is a sort of hyper-partisanship in Washington that I was, frankly, hoping to overcome in 2008. My thinking was when we beat them in 2012 that might break the fever, and it’s not quite broken yet.

As a consequence we get the kind of gridlock that makes people cynical about government. My intentions over the next 3 ½ years are to govern. … If there are folks who are more interested in winning elections than they are thinking about the next generation then I want to make sure there are consequences to that.

In this instance, the most hyper-partisan president in modern times is ascribing that trait to Congressional Republicans. What we’ve learned about Mr. Obama over the years is that he that while he is unusually inept at governing, he’s quite good at campaigning. He certainly enjoys it, having taken the concept of the Permanent Campaign beyond anything we’ve ever seen. It turns out it’s the only thing he does well—no human being in history has raised campaign cash quite like he has—and it’s all he seems interested in doing.

On some deep, subconscious level, though, Mr. Obama seems ashamed of the path he’s chosen. And so the president projects those traits he loathes in himself on to others. To give you a sense of how deep the malady runs, the president does more than merely project; he actually preaches against the very character flaws he himself cannot overcome.

I understand Mr. Obama has complained many times that there are checks on his power, but I prefer the wisdom of James Madison to the ambitions of Barack Obama.

Joblessness? Deficits? Wars? Let’s Party!

” Washington never looks more out of touch than it will this weekend, when movie stars, music moguls, media mavens and their advertisers join President Obama at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.”

” As we say in Washington, the dinner is “lousy optics” – rarely more so than Saturday night, when the backdrop will be joblessness, a budget deficit, the Boston Marathon bombing and a blood-red line in Syria.”

While we were unable to locate the guest list and menu for the 2013 affair , we did come across both for last year . This should give the reader some idea of the sacrifice the first family is enduring for you .

The 2012 Guest List:

The guest list seems to be lacking in actual journalists , doesn’t it ? Then again , the MSM is lacking in actual journalists as well .

The 2012 Menu :

” The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner menu is a selection of four courses, chosen by the board out of a total of nine. Here is the planned menu:

Salad: Black lentil terrine with lump crabmeat; tango green and red artisan greens; red and yellow tear drop tomatoes, paired with a dill vinaigrette.

Break presentation: Seven-grain rolls; white and wheat rolls; sourdough rolls; flatbreads and butter.

Entree: Texas-rubbed petite filet with a calvados demi, paired with duo of jump shrimp seasoned with red curry, roasted haricot verts, baby pepper, patty pan squash, tasso mache choux risotto.

Dessert: The Galaxy–rich chocolate truffle mousse layered with chocolate genoise and almond macaroon; ganache truffle center finished in chocolate glaze, garnished with fresh raspberries.

Freshly brewed regular and decaf coffee: A variety of regular and herbal teas.

Wines: Estancia chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.”

As you can see things are tough all over . His Highness feels your pain .

Washington State Mulls Allowing Employers To Grab Facebook Passwords

” Bosses investigating allegations of workplace misconduct in the State of Washington could soon legally obtain passwords and full access to individual employees’ social media accounts.

CBS Seattle reports a bill before the Washington Legislature could be amended to create the exemption, which would permit employers to “require or demand access to a personal account if an employee or prospective employee has allegations of workplace misconduct or giving away an employer’s proprietary information.” “

Poll: 80 Percent Of Americans Unhappy With Washington

30 Percent Angry

” Eighty percent of Americans are dissatisfied with Washington — including 30 percent who are angry, the highest level of anger recorded since polling on that question began in 2010. A new CBS News poll shows rapidly slipping approval of President Barack Obama and very low ratings for the Republican Party.

Anger at Washington has increased nine percentage points since December, and while the overall unhappy sentiment cut across party lines, Republicans and independents are more likely to say they were angry.

Additionally, 61 percent said that they believe the country is on the “wrong track,” up from 54 percent since February, according to CBS. Nearly nine in 10 Republicans say the country is on the wrong track.”

GOP INTRODUCES ‘VIRTUAL CONGRESS’ RESOLUTION WHEREBY LAWMAKERS WOULD WORK FROM HOME DISTRICTS, NOT D.C.

” Excerpted from The Hill: Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) wants to create a “virtual Congress,” where lawmakers would leverage videoconferencing and other remote work technology to conduct their daily duties in Washington from their home districts.

Under a resolution Pearce introduced on Thursday, lawmakers would be able to hold hearings, debate and vote on legislation virtually from their district offices.

While Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer may have recently nixed the Web company’s work-from-home policy to boost its performance, Pearce believes a remote work arrangement may benefit Congress and make lawmakers more accountable to folks in their home districts.

Pearce says the resolution would eradicate the need for members to jet back and forth from their districts to Washington each weekend. This would allow lawmakers to spend more time with their constituents rather than the armies of lobbyists from K St., he argues.”

Growing Number Of States Eye Bills To Defy Federal Gun Laws

” On March 12 and 14, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed both Sen. Charles Schumer’s (D-NY) “Fix Gun Checks Act,” which would criminalize all private firearm sales and Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) “Assault Weapons Ban.”

These bills have a long way to go before they become law – if they ever do – but states across the nation are introducing their own legislation to preemptively defeat any new federal gun laws.

In Ohio, two senators have introduced SB36, which would prohibit firearms seizures, registration and bans in their state.

Sen. Jared Carpenter introduced a bill that would prohibit Kentucky from enforcing new federal gun control laws if they’re enacted.  The measure passed by a vote of 34-3.”

Bills In States, Congress Seek To Raise Firearm Taxes

” Efforts are underway in Congress and at least half a dozen states, including California, to raise taxes on firearms or ammunition to pay for programs targeting gun violence.

In Congress, a group of Democrats, led by Rep. Linda T. Sanchez of Lakewood, is pushing for an additional 10% tax on handgun purchases that could generate tens of millions of dollars nationwide to fund gun buybacks, firearms safety campaigns and anti-violence programs.

Legislation that would impose taxes on guns or bullets has also been introduced in Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington state. In Sacramento, a bill by Democratic Assemblyman Roger Dickinson would impose a nickel tax on every bullet sold in California to pay for screening and treating young children for mental illness.

The proposals are designed after similar taxes placed by federal, state and local governments on cigarettes to fund anti-smoking campaigns and healthcare programs.

“Anything that contributes to balancing out the costs that gun violence exacts on communities is a step in the right direction,” said Kristen Rand, legislative director of the Violence Policy Center. “Like cigarettes, guns should be taxed in a manner that takes into account the harm they inflict on society at large.” “

Another example of the elitist racism inherent in the statists that masquerade as democrats in the US . Name one consumption tax hike burden that was not born primarily by those in society least able to afford the additional expense ?

In the decades following the Civil War , the southern states , democratically controlled mind you , utilized Jim Crow laws , literacy tests and POLL TAXES  in order to keep the blacks from exercising their right to vote . How is a tax hike on guns and ammunition any different ? The price hikes will be a direct and powerful burden on those segments of society, both black and white , that needs the protection of a firearm much more than these chauffeur-driven gasbags in the halls of power and at the same time are least able to come up with the extra cash needed to purchase some small measure of self-defense and peace of mind .

Racist snobbery and gun people control , all in the guise of “public safety” , why it’s a progressive heaven … oh yes , lest we forget the extra dividend of the mountains of additional cash transfered through legalized theft from the producers to the looters .

* ” In U.S. practice, a poll tax was used as a de facto or implicit pre-condition of the exercise of the ability to vote. This tax emerged in some states of the United States in the late 19th century as part of the Jim Crow laws. After the ability to vote was extended to all races by the enactment of the Fifteenth Amendment, many Southern states enacted poll tax laws as a means of restricting eligible voters; such laws often included a grandfather clause, which allowed any adult male whose father or grandfather had voted in a specific year prior to the abolition of slavery to vote without paying the tax. These laws, along with unfairly implemented literacy tests and extra-legal intimidation,[1] achieved the desired effect of disfranchising African-American and Native American voters, as well as poor whites.”

AIR FORCE ERASES DRONE STRIKE DATA

” (Foreign Policy) – Quietly and without much notice, the Air Force has reversed its policy of publishing statistics on drone strikes in Afghanistan as the debate about drone warfare hits a fever pitch in Washington. In addition, it has erased previously published drone strike statistics from its website.”

Obama’s Taxpayer Funded Golfing Trip Cost More Than A Year’s Worth Of White House Tours

” All presidents spend too much of the taxpayers money I think it’s fair to say, but perhaps if things are so tight that White House tours must be canceled it would make sense not to send one’s wife and children on a taxpayer funded ski trip to Aspen. Or maybe as Krauthammer suggests, not go on a taxpayer funded golfing vacation with lessons from Tiger Woods costing thousands of dollars per hour.

It shows complete contempt for the taxpayer. How dare Americans insist on cutting government. Who do you think is going to pay for all of this?”

Here’s an idea , How about we require presidents to pay for their own vacations in their entirety ? If that fails to suit them they can have all the vacation time they want at taxpayer expense at the taxpayer-funded playground we re already paying for called Camp David .

If that idea doesn’t suit them then don’t run for president , plain and simple . The job is supposed to be about them serving the people and not the other way around . There is no reason in the world that the citizens should have to foot the bill for ANY PUBLIC SERVANT’S entertainment/vacation expenses .

And while we are at it , there should be a no campaigning clause for the president as well . Let’s revise the job description once and for all . If you desire the presidency fine , but here are the rules … get to Washington … stay in Washington . No campaign trips , no fund raising trips , no snarling traffic for hours in the city of your choice , costing the taxpayers billions so you can raise money to help keep your place at the public trough .

All travel must either be for official business or be paid for OUT OF POCKET by the man and his family just like the rest of us . This merits further thought . We open the floor to your suggestions . Leave them in the comments if you please .

Lawmakers’ Gun-Control Aim Driving Smith & Wesson

” With lawmakers in Washington aiming for new restrictions on gun sales, shares of Smith & Wesson (SWHC) and Sturm Ruger (RGR) have surged.

Sturm Ruger last week reported a 52% bump in quarterly sales on those worries. Smith & Wesson shows its hand Tuesday afternoon.”

Why The Sequester Is The GOP’s Worst Possible Move

” The danger for Republicans is that they will bury emerging news about economic weakness tied to higher taxes and more far-reaching regulations and instead promote a story line that puts a new round of disruptive spending cuts at the center of an economic slump — courtesy of the GOP.

I’ve been arguing for months that Washington is trying to shrink the deficit faster than is economically sound. The sequester would only exacerbate this shortsightedness with automatic cuts designed to do the maximum damage per dollar saved.

In other words, this is about the worst way to cut government, and it would be happening at the worst possible time for Republicans.”

New U.S. Jobless Claims Climb 20,000 To 362,000

” Yet economists caution that claims could get whipsawed again, as they often do, if Washington proceeds with a so-called sequester that requires the federal government to cut as much as $85 billion in spending in the next six months. That could result in workers being temporarily furloughed or laid off, making them eligible for jobless benefits.

The monthly average of jobless claims, a more accurate number that smooths out weekly volatility, rose by 8,000 to 360,750. That’s the highest level since the first week of January

In the week ended Feb. 9, meanwhile, continuing claims increased by 11,000 to a seasonally adjusted 3.15 million.”

Warrantless Searches Proposed — for Third Time — by WA Democrats

” Cut to Washington State: in this case, liberal Democrats in the legislature have introduced an assault weapon ban that includes annual inspections of the homes of people that already own assault weapons to make sure that they are being safely stored.

There is no need for a warrant; there is no probable cause requirement; and the Seattle Times columnist writing about this clearly unconstitutional law observes that the sponsors include “Sen. Adam Kline, D-Seattle, a lawyer who typically is hyper-attuned to civil-liberties issues.”

After a stream of criticism, the author withdrew the warrantless search section of the bill, calling it a “mistake.” Yet, as Bryan Preston points out, the warrantless search section – word for word — was included in bills by Kline in 2009 and 2005.

Mistake? I think he was just finally caught and called out this time.

What makes this especially outrageous: not only are they ignoring the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee regarding warrantless searches and the Second Amendment’s guarantee of the right to bear arms, but also the Washington State Constitution’s guarantee of the right to bear arms.

Before liberals attempt to defend not only warrantless searches but also to claim that “assault weapons” are not protected: the Supreme Court of the State of Washington has recognized by name the AR-15 as a constitutionally protected arm.

The case was an ugly one: State v. Rupe (Washington, 1984). The defendant was convicted of murdering the two women who worked at a branch office of Tumwater State Bank. Rupe had left his bloodstained checkbook on the counter in the midst of the robbery, and was convicted on a combination of evidence including testimony of conspirators. No, Rupe did not use an AR-15; he used a revolver. So how did an AR-15 end up in this case? “

Conservative Leaders Defend Sen. Ted Cruz for Rocking the Boat

” Conservative leaders are voicing their support for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after the freshman senator came under fire from some Senate colleagues and liberal pundits for his tough questioning of Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel, criticism that included equating Cruz with the late anti-communist Senator Joe McCarthy (R-Wisc.)

“Senator Ted Cruz came to Washington to advance conservative policies, not play by the same old rules that have relegated conservatives, and their ideas, to the back bench,” Michael Needham, president of the influential Heritage Action said on Tuesday. “It should come as absolutely no surprise the Washington Establishment – be it the liberal media, entrenched special interests or even wayward Republicans – are now attacking him in the press for following through on his promises.”

Frank Cannon, president of the American Principles Project, said: “It’s about time someone annoyed those who have been complacent in doing what is necessary to get the country back on track.  We applaud Senator Ted Cruz’s dedication to conservative principles and being an articulate spokesman for those principles.  We are pleased he is shaking up Washington and doing exactly what the people of Texas elected him to do.” “

WASHINGTON STATE PROPOSED GUN LAW CALLS ON SHERIFF TO INSPECT HOMES OF ASSAULT-WEAPON OWNERS

” A new gun law calls on sheriffs to search the home of assault weapon owners.

A proposed Washington State gun law will call on the county sheriff to inspect the homes of assault-weapon owners.
Seattle Times reported, via Free Republic:

One of the major gun-control efforts in Olympia this session calls for the sheriff to inspect the homes of assault-weapon owners. The bill’s backers say that was a mistake.

Forget police drones flying over your house. How about police coming inside, once a year, to have a look around?

As Orwellian as that sounds, it isn’t hypothetical. The notion of police home inspections was introduced in a bill last week in Olympia.

That it’s part of one of the major gun-control efforts pains me. It seemed in recent weeks lawmakers might be headed toward some common-sense regulation of gun sales. But then last week they went too far. By mistake, they claim. But still too far.

“They always say, we’ll never go house to house to take your guns away. But then you see this, and you have to wonder.” “

Chehalis Homeowner Shoots Intruder

” Chehalis, Wash – A man who broke into an occupied home early Sunday in Chehalis was shot by the home’s owner, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says.

Deputies arrived at the home shortly before 5 a.m. to find one man with a gunshot wound.

Deputies say a 51-year-old man broke into the home where a 24-year-old man and his wife were sleeping.  The owner called 911, then armed  himself with a pistol while waiting for deputies to arrive.”

Crowd Packs Heat; Oak Harbor Backs Down

Lucas Yonkman , the veteran that started it all was back with re-enforcements

” There were handguns in holsters and rifles slung over shoulders and an unknown number of people concealing their weapons as the Oak Harbor City Council met. Many attended the meeting to show support for veteran Lucas Yonkman who Councilmember Almberg tried to have kicked out of City Hall last month, including Joe Hawkins who openly mocked him. “Mr. Almberg I just want you to know that I have a concealed ham sandwich right here I don’t want you to get up and walk away,” he chuckled.”

The "honorable" Rick Almberg

” Most attended the meeting to oppose the city’s ban on guns in parks and the marina. The Second Amendment Foundation had threatened to sue if the ordinance wasn’t overturned.

Sandy Peterson spoke out against the ordinance. “If the city council members are intimidated by people exercising their Second Amendment rights to bear arms, perhaps they need to examine what it is about that that makes them uncomfortable,” she said.

William Frail had an M-1 rifle on his shoulder as he testified. “Sir, my mother was Jew,” he said. “My family went to the chambers. I will not go into the night quietly while these two ask me to board the train.”

Energy Department Networks Hit By Sophisticated Cyber Attack

” Computer networks at the Energy Department were attacked by sophisticated hackers in a major cyber incident two weeks ago and personal information on several hundred employees was compromised by the intruders.

Energy Department officials, along with FBI agents, are investigating the attack on servers at the Washington headquarters. They believe the sophisticated penetration attack was not limited to stealing personal information. There are indications the attackers had other motives, possibly including plans to gain future access to classified and other sensitive information.

No classified information was compromised in the cyber attack, said officials who provided details of the attack to the Washington Free Beacon on condition of anonymity.”

Washington City Councilman Walks Out On Council Meeting Because Of Citizen With CCW

“One of the Biggest and Most Elaborate Falsehoods Ever Sold to the American Pubic” (The Bank Bailouts)

” One thing, which I wish Taibbi had emphasized more is that it looks increasingly like credit would not have “seized up” across the board, for very long anyway had the big banks been allowed to fail. The mid-sized banks and the community banks, which lacked exposure to much in the way of toxic assets (because they sold them off to the big banks which then folded them into Mortgage Backed Securities) would have survived. It would have been bumpy but well run banks just outside of big bank status, BB&T for instance, would have filled in the space.

The bailout was, as David Stockman says, a Wall Street crisis. The bankers all freaked out when their bets turned terrible, and then played the information leverage game with Washington to get the tax payers to pay for their mistakes. They basically said that the entire economy was going down (it wasn’t) and therefore an unprecedented abandonment of what was left of our market based economy was justified. It was a giant con. “

IBD/TIPP Poll Finds A Sharply Divided America

” It’s a frequently heard lament: Why can’t Washington get along and compromise on the big issues of the day?

The federal government is, of course, divided, with the Democrats owning the White House and the Senate, the Republicans in control of the House.

The division, though, didn’t begin in Washington. It has been created by the voters, and the gap between the sides is so wide that there seems to be no ground for compromise.

Given the deep polarization found in the country, lawmakers simply cannot find common cause without betraying their constituencies.

Consider that our IBD/TIPP poll finds that 64% of Democrats give President Obama an “excellent” or “good” rating on his performance of managing the federal budget. Only 7% of Republicans believe he is doing an “excellent” or “good” job.

The chasm on Obama’s handling of the fiscal cliff negotiations is similar. Our poll finds that two-thirds of Democrats say Obama performed his duties in an “excellent” or “good” manner, while a mere 11% of Republicans agreed. “

We’re Now One Step Closer To America’s Coming Civil War

” Some have said my warnings about a coming civil war between makers and takers are exaggerated. It’s true that Argentina’s politicians have been waging class warfare since Juan and Eva Peron–and they aren’t fazed when it turns bloody. Obama and the Democrats are relative newcomers to the game. But Argentina reveals who really suffers when those who create a nation’s wealth get mugged by those who spend it–as just happened this week in Washington.

It’s the poor and the middle class, the very ones big government says it’s trying to protect. “
