Dayton Bomb Squad Called For Old Artillery Shell

Dayton Artillery Shell

” The Dayton Bomb Squad removed an old artillery shell found in the garage of a home Tuesday afternoon and detonated it.

Residents at a home in the 100 block of East Beechwood Avenue found the ordnance and called police, Dayton police Lt. Eric Henderson said. The bomb squad was dispatched not long after that.

The house belonged to a family member and the residents said they hadn’t ventured into the garage for many years, Henderson said. The shell, estimated to be 12 inches long, apparently had been in the garage all this time until it was discovered at about 4:30 p.m.”
