” Here are the ten reports of police misconduct tracked for Wednesday, June 24, 2015:

  • Island County, Washington: The sheriff apologized for the dehydration death-in-custody of a mentally ill man.
  • Update: Evans, Colorado (First reported 04-10-15): An officer was cleared of wrongdoing during an investigation into the shooting death of a county deputy’s wife. The deputy is facing charges in that case.
  • Update: Bibb County, Georgia (First reported 06-18-15): A deputy was fired after his DUI arrest.
  • Key West, Florida: An officer was arrested for domestic battery of his 18-year-old girlfriend.
  • Jackson County, Oregon: A now-former officer was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in a ticket-fixing investigation.
  • Update: Las Cruces, New Mexico (First reported 05-20-15): Two officers were indicted for their roles in a jailhouse beating.
  • Update: Albuquerque, New Mexico (First reported 03-27-14): Two officers were charged with 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of James Boyd last year.
  • Update: Lowndes County, Georgia (First reported 05-07-14): A now-former deputy was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for extorting Hispanic drivers. He took money from them during traffic stops under threat of deportation.
  • Update: Dover, Delaware (First reported 05-06-15): An officer indicted for assault against a suspect due to video of the incident has trial scheduled for November  30, 2015.
  • Update: State College, Pennsylvania (First reported 05-15-15): An officer was fired and charged with tampering. He allegedly removed and replaced the contents of 120 packs of drug evidence.
