” Everybody should own a .22 pistol.  They are incredibly valuable as a training tool, can be used to shoot competitively and can bag small game for dinner.  Add to the mix that they are just plain fun to shoot, and you’ve got a winner of a platform.  But the question becomes what is the best .22 pistol?

While there is no single best pistol for every person and situation, there are several exceptionally good guns on the market.  This is a look at currently produced .22 LR pistols, and not a look at every rimfire handgun ever made.  If I expanded the scope of the article to that level, I would have to include pistols like the old Hi Standard and Colt Woodsman.  Likewise, there are some exceptional revolver and .22 Magnum options on the market.

In no particular order, here are some of the best 22 pistols currently being sold. “

What’s a Sharp Shot? http://kirstenjoyweiss.com/sharp-shots/
Like all the trick shots I share, this is my first time ever attempting this shot, and this is the first shot. Pretty excited!http://kirstenjoyweiss.com/who-is-a-s…
Aperture sights make the graphite tip invisible. I can just barely pick up the wood against the sand, and so I aim slightly high. How does the expression go? “Aim High….
Hope you enjoy! “

” Great Balls of Fire! New Video using the Slide Fire Stock on a .22lr S&W M&P15/22 testing the Piney Mountain Rimfire Tracer Ammo. We also added a powerful Green Laser to add weight. (Plus, bright lasers are kinda fun on something like this.) This isn’t anything technical, just some fun footage very early in the testing of a new Rifle/Ammo/Accessory combo. “

Two very entertaining and informative Youtube firearms channels have united to create an interesting video experiment that combines the divergent specialties of both channels . Demolition Ranch is a channel that specializes in mostly 12 gauge shotgun videos while , as the name implies , 22Plinkster caters to the rimfire crowd .

They pooled their talents and handloaded some .22 caliber tracer bullets into twelve gauge shotgun shells and had a blast .Very cool video . It would be even cooler to see them shoot this homemade round at night . It would also be cool to see a target shot by these inventive rounds . Perhaps the boys will treat us to that in the near future .

The Chiappa Little Badger Survival Rifle (VIDEO)

” Chiappa makes interesting guns. While they may not have the most fans, nobody’s going to say Chiappa isn’t inventive. The Little Badger, a survival rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, may just push them into the spotlight.

The Little Badger isn’t like most survival rifles — it takes minimalism and weight reduction to a level we’ve only seen inside the custom gun world — it’s a single-shot folding rifle with a wire stock and smattering of rails for accessories, like a mini red dot sight or a pistol grip. Since it’s a survival rifle, you may as well throw a flashlight on it.”

…  Just Right for Small Shooters

” Back in the early 1990s, the father and son team of Bill and Steve McNeal created the Davey Crickett, a single-shot .22 caliber youth rifle. The Crickett rifles were the first in a growing Pennsylvania based brand , Keystone Sporting Arms, which opened in 1996.  The small company has grown into a dominant powerhouse by making .22-caliber rifles designed specifically for kids.

The original Crickett design is heavily influenced by the Winchester 1900, another in the long line of John Moses Browning designs. ”

… With A Focus On Red Dot-Ready Handguns

Alloy Model SW1911 Performance Center

” Smith & Wesson is introducing seven new handguns in .22 Long Rifle, 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, and they’re all gonna be popular. The pistols include four M&Ps, two SW1911s and a new competition-ready Model 41.

The M&Ps will make the biggest waves, as they represent a serious change in the world of handguns. Called CORE—Competition Optics Ready Equipment—designed to accept popular red dot sights from the factory. While there are a small number of handguns that are out-of-the-box ready to accept optics, like the FNX-45 Tactical, they’re uncommon and often command a serious price premium.”
