Coney Island ‘Cyclone’ Coaster Stalls, Forcing Riders To Climb Down

” Riders on a New York roller coaster took the long way down Sunday after Coney Island’s historic Cyclone got stuck in its track on opening day.

No one was injured in the mishap, which occurred around noon because of an “isolated mechanical issue,” a Luna Park spokeswoman said.

Images and videos shared on social media showed people slowly walking down the tracks side of the 88-year-old wooden roller coaster.

“ That thing was the scariest thing I ever did,” 24-year-old David Zubin told amNY of the walk down. “The bricks, walking down, looked like it was going to break when you stepped on it.”

The Cyclone opened on June 26, 1927, during Coney Island’s heyday as one of country’s largest recreation areas. With more then 2,640 feet of track featuring 12 drops and 27 elevation changes, the Cyclone was long considered the standard against which “compact wooden twisters” were measured.”

Mexican Amusement Park Offers Fake Border Crossing Attraction

” An unusual amusement park attraction in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo offers visitors the thrills and chills of an illegal border crossing. The attraction takes visitors through a fake United States-Mexico border, complete with fake smugglers and fake border patrol agents.

The aim is to dissuade would be migrants from making the trip. The coyote, or smuggler, leading this simulated illegal border crossing used the name Simon and wore a face mask. Before setting off, he addressed his charges that evening, about 40 students from a private school in Mexico City.

“Tonight we’re going to talk about migration,” Simon said in Spanish. “But for us it isn’t just something rhetorical, but rather the opposite. Because we have endured, we have suffered, of hunger, thirst, injustice, heat, cold, we have suffered from everything.”

Then, under the cover of night, Simon herded them into the woods, toward the fake frontera.”

Scream If You Want To Go Higher! The World’s Highest Swing Ride Opens In Texas To Take Thrill-Seekers Up To 400 FEET In The Air

” The world’s tallest tower swing ride, which sends those foolhardy enough to get on-board a whopping 400 feet up in the air, was officially opened on Saturday at the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park in Arlington.

The Texas SkyScreamer allows up to twenty-four riders to sit in open-air swings while spinning in a 124-foot circle at speeds up to 35mph.

At its 40 story peak – and if the riders still have their eyes open – they can see not only Arlington, but also Dallas and Fort Worth.”

There are seven SkyScreamer rides located at theme parks throughout the U.S. but this latest one dwarfs the competition, the next tallest is in Georgia and is a mere 242 feet tall
