Concealed Carry Holder Saves Elderly Man From Beating In Kroger Parking Lot

Screen Shot 2015-04-26 at 7.42.01 AM

” The folks at Moms Demand Action believe that Kroger is somehow a magical space where nothing bad ever happens, and ridicules anyone who thinks that they should be allowed to carry a concealed handgun on the premises. Time and again their fantasy has been patently disproven, but this time there’s a twist. At a Kroger in Arkansas this past Wednesday, an elderly man was being savagely beaten by seven people. One man, armed with a concealed handgun, decided to step in and try to save that man’s life. This is the true story of how a concealed handgun at Kroger saved lives.

  From Ozarks First:

The 24-year-old says when he was leaving the grocery store he saw something he couldn’t ignore. “I saw seven people against one guy and I did not like those odds.”

The out numbered man was elderly so Gene felt obligated to get involved. “Throw down, step to the side, draw, then up.”

With the gun drawn the attackers turned their attention. “They kept yelling this isn’t your fight, you need to walk away you need to put the gun down,” Gene says.”

Election Results 2014: Republicans Take Control Of Governorships In MD, AR, IL, MA

US Governors

” Republicans, now projected to take control of the Senate and build on their House majority, also made a strong showing in gubernatorial races around the country. GOP candidates in Maryland, Arkansas, Illinois and Massachusetts all took control of governor’s seats that were previously held by Democrats. The only upset Democrats were able to pull off was in Pennsylvania.

In a major upset, Republican candidate for Maryland governor Larry Hogan is now projected to win the state’s highest office, according to ABC News. Hogan, a businessman, will replace outgoing Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley, representing a party switch for the state. In the last 45 years in the state, Robert Ehrlich Jr. was the only Republican to serve as governor and for only one term from 2003-2007.

Massachusetts’s highest office is now projected to switched party hands again. According to ABC News, Republican Charlie Baker will likely defeat Democrat Martha Coakley, and take over for outgoing Deval Patrick, a Democrat. The last serving Republican governor in the state was Mitt Romney, who was elected in 2002. Baker is a Massachusetts native from Needham, just outside Boston. He ran on a centrist platform, highlighting his previous business and management experience as both a former healthcare CEO and former Secretary of Administration and Finance under Governors Weld and Cellucci in the early 1990s. Coakley, a two-term attorney general, also lost a statewide race for Senate in 2010 to Republican Scott Brown. Coakley and Baker came down on opposite sides of several key initiatives on the Massachusetts ballot this year, including a repeal of an incremental gas tax increase, a 5 cent plastic bottle deposit, and expanded requirements for paid sick leave.

ABC News can project that Republican Bruce Rauner has defeated Democratic incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn, in a campaign that doubled fundraising records in President Barack Obama’s home state. Rauner threw millions of his own fortune into the race, running as a socially moderate anti-corruption businessman. “

‘WRAP’ Torture Device Used On Incarcerated Arkansas Youth Ignites Outrage

” A bizarre was photo taken at the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center in Arkansas, and it has been obtained from a FOIA request and released on the internet, currently going viral.

The picture displays a teen in a restraint system similar to a straightjacket, except it appears to cover a person’s face completely.  Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of this photographic evidence of torture, is the appearance of the thing covering the teen’s face.

What is that thing covering the kid’s face? Why does it look like duct-tape with disturbing cross-eyed cartoon eyes drawn on it with sharpie? That might just be indicative of a whole process of humiliation that accompanies this abuse.”

Controversial Owner Declares Her Store A ‘Muslim-Free’ Zone; Find Out Her Reasoning

” Of course, not all Muslims are violent and should not be treated as such. However, one store, The Gun Cave Indoor Shooting Range in Hot Springs, Arkansas, has declared itself a “Muslim-free zone.”
Citing safety concerns and an extensive history of violent actions taken by Muslims in the U.S. and abroad, range owner Jan Morgan posted on her website a ten-point explanation for her decision to ban Muslims from her establishment and clarification as to her supposed legal reasoning.
Morgan claims that the ATF has asked her in the past to exercise judgment in refusing service to people who she feels might be unstable or a threat in general. This broad leeway, Morgan claims, offers her the authority to deny service broadly to Muslims. Bearingarms.com backs-up this assertion and notes,

She brings up a very valid point that gun stores and ranges have both a legal and moral obligation to ensure the safety of their patrons. Because of this, they may refuse service to anyone they deem to be under the influence, mentally unstable, or otherwise a potential threat to themselves, or others. FFLs are afforded a great deal of latitude in this regard, as the federal government would rather err on the side of caution.” “

Ms Morgan’s ten reasons can be read here and they make perfect sense to us .

19 States Join Lawsuit Against NJ Gun Law

” Support is mounting for a lawsuit that challenges New Jersey’s tight restrictions on handgun ownership and its high standard of “justifiable need” for carrying a weapon outside the home.

Nineteen states as well as the powerful National Rifle Association have joined the case’s plaintiff John Drake, who in his lawsuit claims he was denied a permit following a thwarted robbery attempt on his Sussex County business.

Drake lost his appeal before a three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last year and now a growing number of states, led by Wyoming, are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case, claiming New Jersey was wrong when it determined that the business owner failed to prove “justifiable need” to carry a gun under state statute.

Drake’s suit also claims that his right to bear arms under the Second Amendment has been violated.”

Arkansas Police Officer Fired Taser At Woman Because She Wouldn’t Show Him Her Breasts

” An Arkansas woman has filed a lawsuit against a police officer in a federal court, claiming she was unjustly chased by the officer through her workplace simply because she would not show him her breasts.

The woman, Ashlea Bennett, claims police officer Brandon Carter “demanded that she expose her breasts to him” when he showed up at her workplace in his police uniform. When the woman did not comply, he chased her throughout the workplace and even fired his taser gun at her. “

” Like curves? This 110-mile route has 662 of them. From Harrison, the Ozark Moonshine Run takes you south through Jasper along portions of Scenic Highway 7 and then back north along Scenic Highway 21 through the Boxley Valley, where you might glimpse a herd of elk on the banks of the Buffalo National River. Arkansas Editor Posts List Of Concealed Carry Permit Holders Online

Gwen Moritz

” On Feb. 19, the Arkansas state legislature passed legislation protecting the names of concealed carry permit holders from being released under state Freedom of Information Act requests. On Feb. 22, Arkansas Lt. Gov. Mark Darr signed the bill into law.

In the time between the passage of the legislation and its being signed into law, Arkansas Business editor Gwen Moritz took advantage of her one last chance to post the names of concealed permit holders for all to see.”

Here she is in her own words

” I can’t adequately express without wildly waving hand gestures how disappointed I am that the Arkansas General Assembly, in some kind of brain-paralyzing panic, has decided to amend the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act so that the public cannot know who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon.

As this publication pointed out in an editorial a couple of weeks back, knowing who is licensed is the only way to determine who is not licensed. Your crazy uncle shows up at a family reunion packing heat — is he really licensed? A neighbor has taken to walking the sidewalks with a sidearm — is he licensed? Your church decides to allow firearms on the premises — as should be the right of a private, voluntary organization — but is that guy in the next pew really licensed to carry?

According to our legislature, you don’t even have the right to wonder.”

And here is some of what the readers have to say :

  • ” You have the list and are not afraid to “use it.” Usually, the reason someone publishes a name and personal information is for malicious intent. You have “used it” and hit your targets just as effectively as Adam Lanza did in Newtown.

Any professional journalist would know that concealed carry permit holders have undergone background checks, training, and fingerprinting. They were all examined thoroughly before they were granted a license. There is probably not a more law-abiding list of people anywhere. Let me instruct you. Your crazy uncle is not on this list.

You do not know the people on this list and they have never done you or anyone else any harm. They are as innocent as a third grader in Newtown. You have invaded their privacy by committing a crime that is illegal.

A name and zip code, with an internet connection, is just a few clicks away from the exact street address which you said you won’t even publish for people who sell a home.”

Arkansas Business is usually professional and not a source of paranoid media. I hope it will
get back to the business of delivering constructive content.”

  • ” I hope she is fired and prosecuted.”
  • “Very well said. Too bad the editor’s thought process is not so clear. She should be removed from her position for such irresponsibility. The good news is, Mike Darr just signed into law Act 145 which protects concealed carry permit holders from such violations of privacy.”
  • ” Gwen, I will never read your publication again. I am a small business owner in Arkansas and I will not patronize any of the advertisers in your magazine until you resign and the magazine issues a formal apology.”

  • ” Gwen I believe your view is tainted by your occupation. You are in the business of selling information so of course you want everything possible to be made public for ease of access. The only group that needs access to this information, the police, will still have access. It is no ones business whether or not I have a permit to carry a weapon in Arkansas. It is a 2nd amendment issue. Nowhere in the constitution do I see a requirement to disclose my name and zip code in order to exercise my rights.”

  • ” Gwen, your stupidity astounds me. You just single handily destroyed Arkansas Business. No more readers – no more advertisers – no more paper. You tried to rub our nose in your liberal leaning views without concern for any of the citizens you offended. You got your agenda in print but we win in the end. As one of your now FORMER advertisers and a now FORMER subscriber I want to assure you that I will do everything I can to make my views of what you have done to the lawful gun owners of this state known to as many people as possible. All the lawsuits you will see will not matter because this paper will not have the money to even answer the complaints.”

  • “It doesn’t matter how or when you got the list. If it is illegal to post it, then it is illegal to post it. Saying you got the list prior to it being illegal is like saying you bought your car prior to speed limits and can therefore drive as fast as you want.

    You are an idiot.
    Enjoy your class action lawsuit.”

  • ” Call the Arkansas Attorney General, Dustin McDaniel now (Phone:(501) 682-2007) as this law (SB131) went into effect the minute Acting Gov Darr signed it on Friday to prevent it from being published. Arkansas Business and Gwen Moritz just broke the law and a big law and I hope that everyone on this list sues the pants off of them.”

” Hey Gwen, ever consider those women who have abusive Ex’s may not want those animals to know that they refuse to be victims anymore? I have read numerous comments from women who were abused and don’t want these cretins to know that they now carry a concealed weapon (or their zip code).

And its not just women who don’t want others to know that are proficient with
    firearms and could be carrying.

Simply take a phone book and your list and one can easily determine which houses criminals should target if they want to steal guns. Grade school kids can easily figure this out so criminals should be able as well.

I communicated with several of our state representative regarding these very issues when Max Brantley pulled his little “right to know” act several years ago.

If the citizens who chose to understand and embrace their 2nd Amendment
rights can pass an FBI background check and proficiently handle a weapon, why
is it the business of the busy bodies of America? These are the better citizens of our Republic who have committed no criminal offenses and should not be treated as such. 1 of the almost 130,000 on that list may even save your bacon one day.

Concealed carry means the weapon is concealed. If your “crazy Uncle” is publicly displaying his firearm, he is in violation of the law.

I suggest you do your due diligence and brush up on your research before letting
your paradigms get in the way.

And since you seem to oppose firearms, how about we put a sign in your yard stating that fact?

As you can see from the responses, you should have done your homework before posting your opinion. Your article is yet another example of the yellow journalism that Arkansans have come to
expect from the birdcage rag commonly known as Arkansas Business.”

“Go read the law. It only prevents the release of the list. People can still publish lists that they obtained lawfully.”

  • ” Congrats, Gwen! You’re a woman of influence! I’m sure the good people of Arkansas already feel safer now that you’ve so graciously provided them with a list of people who have spent money and time to educate themselves about safely (and legally) owning and operating a firearm. As you’ve pointed out, each of them are almost surely crazy, deserve no respect and have no rights so holy as “your right to know.” You’ve clearly researched and studied this issue, and the behavior of CCL holders, and have surmised that all CCL holders are reckless criminals and crazy people who must be on a public list, presumably so that people can scream and run when they see us in public. That is some rock-solid journalism you’ve got going here. Bravo.

When you’re done patting yourself on the back, you may want to read up on what happened when the state of New York decided to publish a list like the one you’ve posted here (one of the many consequences of their ridiculous gun laws which have hurt law-abiding citizens far more than criminals). But what can you expect from a state whose gun bill was so hastily signed into law, they forgot to include a proviso for their own law enforcement officers? I guess, Like you, they figure a misguided and miscalculated over-reaction makes them seem effective- even with all evidence to the contrary.

I’m guessing you are blithely ignorant, or just diabolically spiteful. You’d have to be one or the other not to understand what you’ve done.”

  • ” Gwen, What people own is nobody’s business. Taking it upon yourself to share information about people that want to have and use their God given Constitutional rights is reprehensible. I hope that your actions are found to be in criminal contempt of the law, I don’t care if you got the list before the law was enacted; you violated the intent of the law. I hope you spend some time in the Tucker unit to learn why people want to keep and use their rights; not as a so-called journalist. The justice system should protect us from people that are a danger to society and you are most certainly at the top of the list. People with protective orders are on that list and have to be afraid because of you. Your implied self-righteousness is disgusting in that you are so full of yourself that you don’t care about hurting other’s and making them targets for thieves and stalkers … Righteous people do not hurt others or make them live in fear. Narcissists do.”

  • ” I am one of the names on this list. I also provide home health care services to people in Central Arkansas. I dare say, that if you conducted business in some of the areas I do, you’d have a CCL too. Thank you for providing my information to the world.”

Arkansas Houses Passes Bill On Concealed Guns On College Campuses

” LITTLE ROCK, Ark (Reuters) – Faculty and staff members in Arkansas would be allowed to carry concealed handguns on the state’s college campuses under a measure approved on Friday by state representatives that also has the backing of Governor Mike Beebe.

The Arkansas state House voted 70 to 11 to allow colleges and universities to decide themselves whether to allow concealed weapons on their campuses, advancing the bill to the state Senate, which is expected to approve the bill.”

Lies , Deceit and More Lies

President Obama Has A History Of Refusing To Acknowledge Terrorism

” I have had three long years to reflect on the terrorist attack that took the life of my son, Army Private Andy Long. On June 1, 2009, a man named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad killed Andy and wounded his colleague, Army Private Quinton Ezeagwula, in a drive-by shooting at a military recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Unbeknownst to most Americans, there have been two successful terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11 besides last month’s terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya: the one that killed my son and the Fort Hood shooting. They both occurred during President Obama’s term, but the president refuses to recognize them as terrorist attacks. Instead, he calls the Little Rock shooting a “criminal act” and the Fort Hood shooting “workplace violence.” Those words would be laughable if my son’s life and the lives of 13 others hadn’t been lost.”

Arkansas Legislator, Three Others Plead Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Election Fraud

“The most fundamental rights we enjoy as American citizens include the ability to vote and, if we so choose, to run for elected office. In a nation in which every person’s vote matters, protecting the integrity of the electoral process from those who seek to win office by cheating the system is critical. Voter fraud schemes such as that carried out in the 2011 District 54 race have the devastating effect of eroding public confidence in elected officials and disenfranchising voters,” said Jane W. Duke, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.”

To I detect a trace of doubt ?

” John Wolfe won 41.5% of the Democrat vote in Arkansas.
In Kentucky, Barack Obama lost 67 counties to “uncommitted.” ”

Trouble in Obamaville ?

” Obama only won 52 counties out of 120 in Kentucky with 99% reporting. And Mitt Romney won a larger percentage of the vote in each state than the sitting president. “

Like he says at the end , this could be more fun even than the hashtag skirmishes . If you live in Arkansas perhaps you might like to get in an early swipe at dear leader .

Operation Razorback Chaos

“The Arkansas Democratic primary is a week away. That is, the open Arkansas primary, in which President Barack Obama
is only up 7 against Tennesee attorney John Wolfe (H/T Twitchy.com ). Did I mention that this is an open primary?
As White House Dossier correctly points out, the RNC should look at the potential here, particularly against the (apparently) non-insane Wolfe. The challenge comes at an awkward time for the Obama campaign, on the heels of last week’s West Virginia fiasco in which The One was unable to break 60 percent against a federal inmate . I see enormous potential for mayhem here, especially after the awesome clowning that was Juddmentum .

Now that the rest of the GOP field tapped out, there’s no risk. Think about it, Arkansas Republicans…it’s like a hashtag hijack, but funner! “
