The Ford GT Will Cost $400,000, Sell 250 Per Year

Ford GT prototype - 2015 Chicago Auto Show live photos

” Revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show to a shocked and awed audience, the Ford GT has lit the world afire with its dramatic styling and promised performance. Now, it has a price tag to match the heat of its debut: about $400,000.

The word comes from Dave Pericak of Ford Performance at the Geneva Motor Show. Pericak said the price of the Ford GT would be near that of the Lamborghini Aventador, which stickers at a brisk $397,500, base.”

” With “more than” 600 horsepower on tap from a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6, a carbon fiber and aluminum structure, and serious aerodynamics, the Prototype-racer in production form should prove to be among the world’s most impressive sports cars—if not quite on par with the $1-million-plus hypercars from McLaren, Porsche, and Ferrari.”

Nissan Silvia: Fast, furious … And Illegal In The United States?

” An Ocean Springs man a few weeks ago pleaded guilty for smuggling a Nissan Silvia into the United States. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

That seems steep for a car that can be purchased online for less than $20,000 (Australian). Some things to consider …

What is a Nissan Silvia: The Nissan Silvia refers to the Japanese car maker’s line of sports cars, which all share a similar chassis. The Nissan 240sx is the closest thing to a Silvia in the United States.

Why is this car so special: It has a unique aerodynamic frame, chrome detailing, and turbo-charged engine. In other words, it’s very fast. They have low platforms, rounded upper bodies, and sloping hoods. The Nissan Silvia S15 has a slim front end, complete with a low front bumper and integrated grill. According to one website, the wide headlights slope inward from the sides and combine with lower fog lights to give the driver high visibility in sub-par conditions.

Why is this car illegal in the United States: This particular vehicle was declared illegal because it did not meet federal safety and pollution standards and it had a right-hand steering column, similar to cars in England. However, some Silvia cars have been modified for U.S. regulations and registered in the United States.

Why risk bringing it into the United States: First, only the defendant (Kendall Noble) can say his reasons for bringing this particular vehicle into the country. But many car enthusiasts purchase the Nissan Silvia S15 because it has had great success in local drag racing (street classification), drifting competitions and street racing. In drifting, the car has won 7 D1 Grand Prix championships with 5 different drivers driving the S15 (Nobuteru Taniguchi:2001; Ryuji Miki:2004; Yasuyuki Kazama:2005; Masato Kawabata:2007; Youichi Imamura:2009,2010,2011) “

This story absolutely reeks of shame and government overreach , as the reader can see in the comments . Doesn’t our government have better ways to spend our money than on a witch hunt for “illegal” cars ? We would like to know why the car , regardless of emission standards and righthand steering is illegal without it being put on the road .

It seems to us that until it is being driven on the road that it is no different than a top fuel dragster of a Nascar vehicle , neither of which meet highway safety standards nor emission standards .

For C***st sake , murderer and crooked politicians get off lighter than this man … Holder at work …  JHC

Behold, The World’s First Automatic Supercar

” It’s heresy, I tell you, absolute heresy. As if it’s not enough that a lowly Chevrolet must now be considered a supercar — no “almost” dismissive needed or deserved, thank you very much — even more blasphemous is that said Chevy is at its most “super” when hooked up to an automatic transmission.

The car, not surprisingly, is the latest rendition of Corvette’s topflight Z06. That’s hardly a revelation; if any Chevrolet were to be deemed super, it would have to be the iconic Corvette. But, it is a little more shocking that the transmission in question is not one of those new fangled PDK’ed thing-a-ma-bobs with their fancy dual clutches and pre-selected gear changing mechanisms, but rather a plain, old torque-converted, could-be-in-a-Cadillac slushbox.”

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

” Nor is it just in a straight line that GM’s new eight-speed 8L90 autobox is superior to the also available seven-speed manual. Zooming around Spring Mountain Motor Resort’s 2.4-kilometre racetrack, the combination of precise gear selection algorithms and bullet-quick shifting (Jeff Polidan, Chevy’s design systems engineer for the new eight-speed transmission, claims that, at 0.45 seconds, his automatic shifts faster than Porsche’s supposedly-higher-tech PDK) have the autobox shifting gears perfectly. Indeed, so adroit does the 8L90’s computer match gears and revs that the Z06 is quicker, more manageable and indeed more fun left in its fully automatic mode. Use the paddle shifters if you must, but you’ll be slower for it. The 2015 Z06 truly is, in every sense of the word, the first automatic transmission supercar.”

” There’s no doubt the Z06 must finally be deemed a true supercar. The 6.2-litre supercharged V8 boasts 650 horsepower (smack dab between Lamborghini’s Huracan and Aventador), 650 pound-feet of torque (more than either) and, when hooked up to the aforementioned eight-speed autobox, can accelerate to 100 kilometres an hour in just 3.1 seconds (just barely behind the aforementioned Aventador and 0.3 seconds quicker than the manual). The quarter mile arrives in a truly startling 10.95 seconds as long as you’re you’re letting the eight-speed autobox shift itself; a slightly longer 11.2 seconds if you insist on shifting the seven-speed manual yourself.”

An Ingenious Shock-Absorbing Wheel For Bikes And Wheelchairs

” When Israeli farmer Gilad Wolf broke his pelvis in 2008, he resolved not to lets his crops wither on the vine and became determined to turn his wheelchair into a workhorse. After suffering the pain that came from traversing the bumpy rows of his field in a stock chair he began developing new designs better suited to off-road applications. He experimented with solutions based on farm equipment and ultimately took his concepts to the Rad-BioMed Technology Accelerator in Tel Aviv where he got the help required to transform concept sketch into a patent-pending product called SoftWheel.

In traditional wheelchair designs up to 30 percent of expended energy is lost because they lack suspension, leaving only 70-80 percent of the energy put into the chair for propulsion. This creates uncomfortable rides and fatigued drivers. “Most of the time, the user is driving a rigid wheel with no suspension and it breaks your back and shakes your filings loose,” says SoftWheel CEO Daniel Barel.”

High End Cars Need Luxury Garages 21 Pictures

” When a car looks as good as these, chances are you also want the garage to look the part. Most of these cars are worth more then a large-sized home for an average person. Take a look at how these high end cars get stored.

If the cars are worth this much, it makes one wonder, how much one of these garages costs to engineer and build?”
