9-1-1 Caller Says Gun Held By Cleveland 12-Year-Old Shot By Police Was ‘Probably Fake’

”  The man who called 9-1-1 before a 12-year-old boy was shot by police told dispatchers the gun was “probably fake.”

The man told police he was at the park near Cudell Recreation Center and could see “a guy with a pistol” on the swing set pulling the weapon from his pants and “scaring the s–t out of everyone.”

” There’s a guy with a pistol, and it’s probably fake,” he said quickly, “but he’s pointing it everybody.”

When police arrived, a group of people were sitting around a table under a gazebo next to the rec center’s parking lot. A rookie officer in the car saw the pistol sitting on the table, and watched the boy grab it and put it in his waistband, Jeff Follmer said.

The officer got out of the car and told the boy to raise his hands. Instead, police said, the boy reached into his waistband and grabbed the pistol.

The officer fired two shots, at least one of which hit the boy in the stomach.

The boy was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center in serious condition, though his condition was not immediately known Saturday night. “

7-YEAR-OLD FACES TWO FELONY CHARGES FOR SHOOTING BB GUN

” He looks like a typical 7-year-old boy, but on Tuesday night, Sam Grant is facing charges that many adults never will. He is charged with two felonies for something that happened when his mother turned her back for just a second.

Sam is charged with two felony counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. If convicted he faces one year probation and hundreds of hours of community service. Sam’s parents believe the charges are all wrong.

“They considered his BB gun a firearm. It is not a firearm. It is a BB gun,” said Cherry.”

Your Child’s First Gun Can Influence Whether He Becomes A Lifelong Hunter Or Walks Away Altogether

” It’s a big decision and an exciting one, for both you and your child, as you ponder that first gun. No doubt the passion for the outdoors has been lit from shared days afield and maybe even at the range, but now it’s time to extend the ultimate in trust and responsibility by purchasing a gun and giving it to your child as his or her designated gun to take afield with them.

I still remember my first gun, a used Remington Sportsman 58 that my dad gave me when I was 11 and that I used to down untold bushy tails with 2 ¾-inch loads of No. 6s—as well as my first whitetail, firing No. 1 buckshot, a year later. I grew up hunting deer in an area where shotguns—mostly buckshot—are still the firearm of choice, so when I received a brand new Remington 1100 for my 16th birthday, opening the box is a moment I will never forget. For a young, avid hunter, it would become one of my most prized possessions, alongside my first car and first home. The car and home are little more than good memories now. I still own, and use, that 1100.

So what are the critical considerations in buying that first gun for your son or daughter? There are several that are key as you want the gun to become an enjoyable tool to help them not only become better marksmen, but to maintain the enthusiasm for shooting and hunting for many years to come. “
