The Media’s Most Outrageous Olympic Outbursts

Sochi UK National Healthcare BS

” Sports fans checking in on coverage of Team USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia might want to brace themselves for unexpected outbursts of liberal preaching from reporters covering the games.

Over the years the MRC has documented lefty reporters and writers using the games to celebrate socialist policies, bash expressions of patriotism and even work in jabs against Republicans, like when Bryant Gumbel, in 2006, complained that the “paucity” of black athletes “makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention.”

In the spirit of the games, the most outrageous journalists are competing with each other in three events for the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. “

MRCTV has provided a great service by creating this article . It shows the reader how the Olympics has been used as a political soapbox by the media for years in their efforts to push their liberal , statist agenda . With clips from Lillehammer , Beijing , Athens , Salt Lake City , Sochi and more MRC examines the American media propensity to push the partisan progressive agenda even as they bemoan the politicization of the Olympics on the part of Americans in the form of an “excessive” nationalism .

Chinese Scientists Upbeat On Development Of Invisibility Cloak

Invisibility Cloak

” Mainland scientists are increasingly confident of developing the world’s first invisibility cloak, using technology to hide objects from view and make them “disappear”.

The central government has funded at least 40 research teams over the past three years to develop the idea, which until now has largely been the stuff of science fiction and fantasy novels like the Harry Potter series.”

This is not a good thing , at least not for most of the free world .

” The technology would have obvious military uses such as developing stealth aircraft, but Beijing believes the research could lead to wider technological breakthroughs with broader uses, scientists involved in the research said. The teams involved include researchers at Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The main approaches are developing materials that guide light away from an object, creating electromagnetic fields to bend light away from what one is trying to hide and copying nature to make hi-tech camouflage materials.”

Peking To Paris Classic Car Rally 2013: Highs And Lows

” Michelle Jana Chan reflects on the highs and lows of her Peking-to-Paris Motor Challenge, as one of the world’s toughest classic car rallies reaches its end tomorrow.”

Scariest moment?

” I do not think I was ever scared for our safety but there were many times I was afraid for the well-being of Shiner, our 1940 Ford Coupe. The worst moment was on Day 6 (Ulaan Baatar to Bulgan, Mongolia) when we ended up driving through a marsh. We had to keep up our speed — to prevent us getting bogged down — but that meant violently porpoising for a hundred metres. We knew the suspension was being smashed to pieces — and we were right. That incident set us back from lead position to sixth yet we feel like we got off lightly.”

Friendliest people/crowd?

” Definitely the Russians. There was spontaneous cheering, thumbs-ups and blasts of car horns wherever we went.”

US Health Leader Warns Of Human-To-Human H7N9 Bird Flu

” There is no evidence that the deadly H7N9 bird flu has yet spread between humans in China but health authorities must be ready for the virus to mutate at any time, a top US virologist has warned.

Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said officials in China had studied more than 1,000 close contacts of confirmed cases and not found any evidence of human-to-human transmission.

“That is powerful evidence because if you had a thousand contacts with someone with the flu you would be pretty sure some of them would have been infected,” Fauci said in an interview with AFP.

“It’s unpredictable as are all the influenza. One of the things we need to be concerned about is this might gain the capability of going human-to-human which up to this point has not happened and is somewhat encouraging news,” Fauci said.

More than 110 people in mainland China have been confirmed to be infected with H7N9, with 23 deaths, since Beijing announced on March 31 that the virus had been found in humans.”

Viral photo: Naked Woman Chases Naked Man With Sex Doll In China

“As far as photos going viral these ones could be said to show just the bare facts. Somehow photos of a naked man running in Beijing while carrying a naked female mannequin and being chased by a real naked woman – whew! – has hit the internet in China.

Some Chinese viewers think the photos are a hoax, others, Li said, feel they might be connected to an American game popular in China called ‘Temple Run’, which she describes as “a popular game where a player takes on the role of an explorer attempting to steal an idol from a temple and outrun monsters chasing from behind.” Monsters?”

” China is on track to overtake America as the world’s biggest economy in 2016 as its growth accelerates, according to a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

“China has weathered the global economic and financial crisis of the past five years better than virtually any OECD country and than many other emerging economies,” said the OECD.

“It is well placed to enjoy a fourth decade of rapid catch-up and improving living standards,” the tank added. However, it did point to risks such as property prices and potential tension arising from social inequalities and an ageing population.”

Video: China Parades ‘Mekong killers’ On TV Before Execution

” Beijing – On Friday, the Chinese authorities aired on state TV four men convicted of murdering 13 Chinese sailors on the Mekong river in 2011. The two-hour special aired from Yunnan province on the Chinese Central Television (CCTV) began at 1:30 p.m.local time.

It included interviews and a closing footage showing them walking to execution.
Reuters reports the first convict was Naw Kham a citizen of Myanmar. The Guardian reports that state media identified the other three men as Hsang Kham from Thailand, Zha Xika from Laos and Yi Lai of “unknown origin.”

The men were sentenced to death after they were found guilty of intentional homicide, drug trafficking, kidnapping and hijacking. ”

For the Chinese speakers among us here is video explaining the story of these pirates’ trial and execution .
