Protective Services Shows Up At Mom’s Home Over Something Parents Have Been Doing For 1000s Of Years

” A mother from Austin, Texas, is making national headlines after blogging about how Child Protective Services (CPS) unexpectedly showed up at her home.

CBS News reports:

” A Texas mom started a parenting debate this month, blogging about her six-year-old playing outside by himself.

…Kari Anne Roy knows all about the joys and challenges of raising a child. She has three of them. Her youngest — six-year-old Isaac — recently gained the privilege of playing outside alone for a few minutes.

Cases like this are becoming all too common:

  1. A South Carolina mother was recently arrested for letting her 9-year-old play at a park (that has an average of 40 kids playing at it per day) while she was at work.
  2. An Ohio father was charged with child endangerment after his 8-year-old son skipped church (unbeknownst to the father) and went to play instead.
  3. A Florida mom had to post a $4,000.00 bond after permitting her 7-year-old son to walk to the park.”

50,000 Websites Hacked Through MailPoet WordPress Plugin Vulnerability

” The users of WordPress, a free and open source blogging tool as well as content management system (CMS), that have a popular unpatched wordPress plugin installed are being cautioned to upgrade their sites immediately.
A serious vulnerability in the WordPress plugin, MailPoet, could essentially allows an attacker to inject any file including malware, defacements and spam, whatever they wanted on the server and that too without any authentication.
MailPoet, formerly known as Wysija Newsletter, is a WordPress plugin with more than 1.7 million downloads that allows developers running WordPress to send newsletters and manage subscribers within the content management system.
In a blog post, the security researcher and CEO of the security firm Sucuri, Daniel Cid, pointed out the vulnerability to be serious and said that within three weeks since the vulnerability unveiled, over 50,000 websites have been remotely exploited by the cybercriminals to install backdoors targeting the vulnerable MailPoet plugin.”

Help ?

Good morning readers. We have a request . Does anyone know of a browser for an iPad 4 that works for blogging ?

Apparently my old WordPress app doesn’t work anymore and the updated version is unsupported by our older iPad.

I’ve tried to post from Opera , Chrome, Dolphin and Terra without success. I cannot copy and paste  nor can I scroll through my categories .

It’s going to be another couple days before my backup laptop arrives from the mainland and posting by phone is getting old.

Is my iPad just too old ? Can it’s OS be updated ?

Rather than participate in the national day of blogging silence we think it best to turn UP the volume .

Goodbye

April 27, 2012 by Don Surber

After 7 years of blogging, I am quitting. I am exhausted. It was simply too much work. I am still employed by the Charleston Daily Mail and still writing editorial and columns and performing the sundry other tasks that go with any job.

Blogging was something extra. I loved blogging because I came in contact with readers directly. But over the past few months I realized I cannot continue doing both. I ain’t Superman.

I will miss you all and I appreciate the support from those who have emailed me.
