Border Agents Bracing For New Immigrant Surge

Families of Central American immigrants turn themselves in to U.S. Border Patrol agents after crossing the Rio Grande River from Mexico on September 8, 2014 in Mission, Texas. Although the numbers of such immigrant families and unaccompanied minors have decreased from a springtime high, thousands continue to cross in the border illegally into the United States. The Rio Grande Valley sector is the busiest area for illegal border crossings, especially for Central Americans, into the U.S. (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images) Photo: John Moore, Getty Images

” On a recent evening near the banks of the Rio Grande, a group of five Guatemalan immigrants, among them two girls, ages 8 and 10 without a parent or guardian by their side, turned themselves over to U.S. Border Patrol agents.

It is a familiar scene to law enforcement agencies in South Texas that witnessed nearly 50,000 unaccompanied children and families, mostly from Central America, illegally streaming across the border here last year.

While far fewer immigrants have been detained in recent months than during the same period a year ago, thousands are still crossing the Rio Grande illegally, and border agents are bracing for thousands more in the months ahead.

Already, 15,647 minors and 13,911 families have been detained since the beginning of the fiscal year in October, along the whole Southwest border, most of them in Rio Grande Valley. With the historically busy April, May and summer months ahead, it is conceivable that apprehensions this year will surpass all but the unprecedented surge of 2014.”

It’s Not Just Measles; DUI’s Ok If You’re An Illegal Too

” Oh c’mon…… America, you will put up with this?

The Obama administration has ordered federal agents responsible for protecting one of the nation’s busiest and most crime-infested regions near Mexico to stop apprehending drunk drivers, according to an internal government memo that also concedes an officer that elects to detain them is “acting within the course and scope of his employment.”

Obtained by Judicial Watch this week, the notice is titled “Enforcement Options With Alcohol-Impaired Drivers” and directs the 4,000-plus U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Tucson, Arizona sector to “release” individuals under the influence and “allow them to go on their way.” The document acknowledges that this feels counter-intuitive for Border Patrol agents, but eases concerns by answering a hypothetical question for the officers who have sworn to uphold the law: “If you allow this driver to continue down the road and they kill someone, aren’t you liable?” The answer is no, according to the new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo. “There is no legal requirement for a Border Patrol agent to intervene in a state crime, including DUI,” the order says, adding that “therefore there is generally no liability that will attach to the agent or agency for failing to act in this situation.”

Nice. “

Drones Now Patrol Half Of Mexico Border

” The U.S. government now patrols nearly half the Mexican border by drones alone in a largely unheralded shift to control desolate stretches where there are no agents, camera towers, ground sensors or fences, and it plans to expand the strategy to the Canadian border.

It represents a significant departure from a decades-old approach that emphasizes boots on the ground and fences. Since 2000, the number of Border Patrol agents on the 1,954-mile border more than doubled to surpass 18,000 and fencing multiplied nine times to 700 miles.

Under the new approach, Predator Bs sweep remote mountains, canyons and rivers with a high-resolution video camera and return within three days for another video in the same spot, according to two officials with direct knowledge of the effort on condition of anonymity because details have not been made public.

The two videos are then overlaid for analysts who use sophisticated software to identify tiny changes — perhaps the tracks of a farmer or cows, perhaps those of immigrants who entered the country illegally or a drug-laden Hummer, they said.

About 92 percent of drone missions have shown no change in terrain, but the others raised enough questions to dispatch agents to determine if someone got away, sometimes by helicopter because the area is so remote. The agents look for any sign of human activity — footprints, broken twigs, trash.

About 4 percent of missions have been false alarms, like tracks of livestock or farmers, and about 2 percent are inconclusive. The remaining 2 percent offer evidence of illegal crossings from Mexico, which typically results in ground sensors being planted for closer monitoring.”

Feds Mum On Prosecution Of Illegal Border Crossers

” The federal government refuses to say whether prosecutors in Yuma, Arizona, have scaled back a years-old program that guarantees jail time for most immigrants caught crossing the border illegally and which law enforcement officials say is crucial to public safety.

Reports that federal prosecutors have stopped some prosecutions under Operation Streamline surfaced nearly two weeks ago when Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder seeking information on the status of the zero-tolerance program that circumvents the civil immigration system and lumps together months’ worth of criminal proceedings into one day for immigrants caught crossing the border illegally.

Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot said in a letter to the senators that he had been informed that federal prosecutors in Yuma are no longer going after first offenders.

But the government has been completely silent on the issue. Public affairs officials from the Department of Homeland Security, Justice Department and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have all refused to answer questions about whether the program has been scaled back.

Brett Worsencroft, president of the Border Patrol union for Yuma Sector border agents, said the U.S. Attorney’s Office has in fact ended prosecutions of first-time offenders. “

“ISIS Terrorist” Crosses Canadian Border On Lake Erie Into The United States

Published on Sep 8, 2014

” ORDER Breakthrough by James O’Keefe — Now out in Paperback! http://goo.gl/fgUuKO. In a Project Veritas investigation released Monday, James O’Keefe exposed the lack of security along our border with Canada. In the follow-up to the investigation that featured O’Keefe crossing the Rio Grande disguised as Osama bin Laden, the latest investigation illustrates the lack of border security by simulating a terrorist infiltration across Lake Erie and into Cleveland.”

Illegal Aliens Storm The Beach In San Diego, Second Attempt Thwarted

” Illegal aliens successfully landed on a San Diego beach in a panga boat on Monday and ran to shore – but, when another group tried the same thing on Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border (CBP) agents were waiting for them.

Around 7am Monday morning, a horde of illegal aliens stormed a San Diego beach after coming ashore in a panga boat. They sprinted across the beach and climbed over a wall, entering the city.

Seven of the illegal aliens were spotted by helicopter and later apprehended several blocks from the beach; the CBP is still looking for at least ten more who remain at-large, NBC7 in San Diego reports.

Then, about 1am Tuesday morning, a second panga boat filled with 20 illegal aliens was intercepted about off the coast of San Diego County by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents.”

The Home Front

” On Friday, writing about the four-hour detention by US Customs & Border Protection of a troop of Iowa boy scouts, I put it this way:

American life is bifurcating into the undocumented and the overdocumented. On the southern border, the bazillions of US laws are meaningless – proof of identity, medical tests, none of it matters. And the less it matters on the Rio Grande the more the zealots on the 49th Parallel will take apart your car if they think you’ve got a Kinder egg in there. Anyone who thinks that attitude can be confined to the border and not work its way deep into the rest of American life is deluded.

Thirteen years ago, I opposed the creation of the “Department of Homeland Security” – on the classic Thatcherite ground that if you create a bureaucracy to deal with a problem you’ll never be rid of it. I had expected the usual “mission creep” but that term barely covers what’s happened in the last decade. There is no “homeland security”: At the southern border, the homeland is wide open, and ICE and the Border Patrol, which (like CBP) are both part of DHS, are actively colluding in homeland insecurity.

Meanwhile, Homeland Security “agents” busy themselves raiding the Foxy Lady strip club in Brockton, Massachusetts, because the foxy ladies were giving away knock-off Red Sox or Patriots merchandise with every two lap dances, and dispatching six vehicles to a home in Statesville, North Carolina to seize an imported Land Rover that doesn’t meet EPA emissions standards.”

Border Official Points Gun At Boy Scout

” A central Iowa Boy Scout troop just returned from a three-week trip they will likely never forget.

About 10 days into the trip, an innocent action by one of the nearly two dozen Scouts at the Canadian border into Alaska set off a chain of events that lead to a U.S. border official pointing a gun at a scout’s head.

Boy Scout Troop 111 Leader Jim Fox spelled out what happened to him and the Mid-Iowa Boy Scout Troop 111 as four van-loads of Scouts and adult volunteers tried to drive from Canada into Alaska.

Fox said one of the Scouts took a picture of a border official, which spurred agents to detain everyone in that van and search them and their belongings. “

This is national security in Obama’s Amerika … Threaten unarmed boy scouts and grandmas and run from illegal immigrants and drug mules …

Border Patrol Tells Agent: ‘You Must Cease and Desist’ From Speaking With Media

” The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has served one of its agents with a letter saying “you must immediately cease and desist” from issuing statements and press releases to the media with information that is “Law Enforcement sensitive,” according to the document, obtained by National Review Online.

Kathleen Scudder, assistant chief patrol agent of the San Diego Sector, sent the letter to agent Ron Zermeno, health and safety director of National Border Patrol Council Local 1613, notifying him of an investigation into his conduct and to “remind” him that no agent should make statements or issue press releases “without proper authorization.”

Zermeno confirmed the validity of the letter to NRO. He says he thinks the order is retaliation for his actions as a whistleblower, which have involved exposing the public-health risks associated with the illegal immigrants transported to the San Diego Sector. “As a union officer, I feel it’s my job to expose when management is putting people at risk,” he says. “They violated their oath as Border Patrol agents.” “

The NRO continues to expose the Fed’s efforts to stifle the few truth-tellers willing to come forward and speak out against the policies of this “most open , honest and transparent” administration .

Texas Takes Border Security Into Own Hands Because Of Federal Inaction

” Texas, the second largest state by population and land mass in the nation has decided to take state funded action to protect its citizens from the multitude of illegal immigrants swarming over the border. The federal government’s inaction on border control poses a huge risk to the safety and security of not just Texans, but to all Americans. Texas has had enough of the ‘hurry up and wait” attitude adopted by not just the Obama administration but by the politicians in Washington. The priorities of these politicians are skewed by political ambition and party line agendas that do little to serve the nation but often serve to get them re-elected. If current trends are any indication however, these so-called public servants may be in for a shake-up come November 2014.

In a recent joint statement by Texas Governor Rick Perry, Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and state House Speaker Joe Straus, Perry said that the state cannot “afford to wait for Washington” and he has authorized a “surge” in border patrol activities. Perry further stated that his administration (ostensibly as opposed to the Obama administration) will not “sit idly by while the safety and security of citizens are threatened.” To facilitate this Governor Perry has authorized the Department of Public Safety to spend $1.3 million in emergency spending a week to further secure the Texas border by preventing illegal crossings and apprehending illegal immigrants who do successfully slip through security.

The surge includes air support and boots on the ground and comes on the heels of the tremendous influx of not only illegal immigrants from Mexico, but also those who have come from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras hoping to cash in on the Obama administration’s reputation for extreme leniency. These illegal immigrants are referred to by border patrol as “Other than Mexican” (OTM). Currently, there are three U.S. military bases overflowing with children who have been trafficked to the U.S. by families hoping to follow and this has created a humanitarian crisis with no practical solution in sight. “

As Border Security Expands, Complaints Of Abuse Rise Among Americans

Border Security

” A series of lawsuits filed in recent months in federal courts along the U.S. border with Mexico highlight what advocates say is a growing list of complaints against two U.S. agencies that have expanded rapidly amid the clamor to secure the nation’s borders.

In one lawsuit, centered on events in Chula Vista, Calif., a Border Patrol agent is accused of leaping on the hood of a car driven by a mother of five and shooting her dead. She was unarmed. The agent had been fired from his previous job as a sheriff’s deputy for a variety of misconduct.

In a second case, a Customs officer in Brownsville, Texas, violently pushed a disabled woman to the ground. She had a miscarriage the next day. Border officers also had to call firefighters to remove handcuffs that allegedly had bound her wrists too tightly.

For a third woman, her return to the United States was intrusive and painful. She was pulled from a line at an El Paso, Texas, border crossing, apparently on the suspicion that she was carrying drugs. She was handcuffed. Over the next six hours, agents escorted her to a hospital, where they oversaw the probing of her anus and vagina, forced her to take a laxative and then watched as she moved her bowels. When no drugs were found, they ordered her to submit to an X-ray and a CT scan.

When the ordeal was over, the officers asked her to sign a consent form before they allowed her to return to her home in New Mexico. When she refused, the hospital billed her thousands of dollars for the procedures.”

Astute readers will take note of the fact that McClatchy’s headline about “increased border security” is clearly refuted by their own accompanying graphic which shows the number of agents increasing even as the arrest of illegals declines . The only ones to feel the wrath of “increased security” are the American citizens whose rights are increasingly violated by a rogue government .

Desert Rescue Beacons Let Immigrants Call For Help

Rescue-beacon-in-3-languages-271x300

” Thorn-coated bushes, rock-covered terrain, scorching temperatures. A hissing rattlesnake.

These are just few of the many perils Mexican migrants crossing the Southern Arizona desert encounter every day. And far more of them will attempt to cross this summer, the U.S. Border Patrol predicts.

The agency unveiled its plans Wednesday for dealing with the problem of immigrants dying in the desert, including 10 new beacons that allow migrants to call for help at the push of a red button. The agency is also adding new hoisting systems on helicopters to rescue immigrants.

The beacons are 30-feet-tall and solar powered. They have sun reflectors and blue lights on top that are visible for 10 miles. The beacons have signs in three languages that direct users to push a red button that sends out a signal for help. Response times vary from 10 minutes to an hour depending on where the nearest agents are located. “

Wouldn’t it be cheaper if we just let them take the g*d-damned train ? J*sus H Ch*ist , WTF is wrong with this government’s priorities ?

On second thought , if the State is so bloody concerned with the law-breaker’s welfare why don’t we let them stay in their own country and the Feds can just mail them their checks at home ? We’ll just pay them to stay in their own countries and then we needn’t worry that they might get hurt making the journey .

Hoping For Asylum, Migrants Strain U.S. Border

BORDER-jumbo-master1050

” Border Patrol agents in olive uniforms stood in broad daylight on the banks of the Rio Grande, while on the Mexican side smugglers pulled up in vans and unloaded illegal migrants.

The agents were clearly visible on that recent afternoon, but the migrants were undeterred. Mainly women and children, 45 in all, they crossed the narrow river on the smugglers’ rafts, scrambled up the bluff and turned themselves in, signaling a growing challenge for the immigration authorities.

After six years of steep declines across the Southwest, illegal crossings have soared in South Texas while remaining low elsewhere. The Border Patrol made more than 90,700 apprehensions in the Rio Grande Valley in the past six months, a 69 percent increase over last year.

The migrants are no longer primarily Mexican laborers. Instead they are Central Americans, including many families with small children and youngsters without their parents, who risk a danger-filled journey across Mexico. Driven out by deepening poverty but also by rampant gang violence, increasing numbers of migrants caught here seek asylum, setting off lengthy legal procedures to determine whether they qualify.

The new migrant flow, largely from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, is straining resources and confounding Obama administration security strategies that work effectively in other regions. It is further complicating President Obama’s uphill push on immigration, fueling Republican arguments for more border security before any overhaul.

With detention facilities, asylum offices and immigration courts overwhelmed, enough migrants have been released temporarily in the United States that back home in Central America people have heard that those who make it to American soil have a good chance of staying.”

SECURE THE F***ING BORDER !!

NY Times … Of course this wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that virtually no one gets sent back under Obama’s Border patrol policies or the impending immigration reform bill amnesty . Nah , only a cynic would think like that .

American And Her Children Threatened And Harassed By Border Patrol

Uploaded on Mar 24, 2014

” On a backcountry road, Clarisa Christiansen was threatened with a taser and knife by Border Patrol agents while her two terrified children watched from the backseat.

Transcript:
Clarissa Christiansen speaking: I was put in a situation where I was in the middle of nowhere. Three agent men against one woman with her two children in the middle of the desert, where nobody’s around, they could have done anything to me and my kids.

I live out here in the Sierrita Mountains. Been living out here for almost 18 years with my family. I have 2 kids, a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old, little boy and girl. Just the last years, I noticed quite a bit of activity when it comes to the border patrol. You feel like you’re being watched for no reason all the time.
This is where they stopped me. I was picking up my daughter. They got out of the vehicle and asked me if I was a U.S. citizen and I said, “Yes. Is there a problem?” He comes up to the door, kind of looks in and says, “Well, I’m going to need you to step out of your vehicle, so we can search your vehicle.” I was like, “No. You’re not searching my vehicle. Why did you pull me over?” So it turned into kind of an argument back and forth, why did you pull me over versus I don’t need to tell you why I pulled you over until you get out of your vehicle. So, I started to put it in gear and they were like, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re not going nowhere.”
He told his other guys, “This one’s being difficult. Get the Taser,” and he opens up my door and he says, “Ma’am, do I need to tase you to get you out of your vehicle?” and I was like, “No, you don’t need to do that. You’re acting ridiculous. Why did you even pull me over?” Then he comes up to my seatbelt, pulls out a knife and says, “Ma’am, do I need to cut you out of your seatbelt?” and I was like, “No, you don’t need to do anything like that.” I was like, “All you need to do is tell me why you pulled me over, you know? This is ridiculous. I got 2 young kids in the car.”

Then he took the keys from my ignition and I was forced to get out of my vehicle. If I didn’t get out of the vehicle, I felt like this man that was threatening to tase me and cut me out of my seatbelt was going to hurt me. I told my kids to stay where they were, because they were like, “Mommy, what’s going on? Where are you going?” and I was like, “Just stay where you are and just watch.”

Boy: When they pulled us over, they were just distracting us.
Girl: They were bullying my mom. They were talking mean and they were saying get out of the car without telling her why.
Mother: How do you feel when you see border patrol now?
Boy: Mad. Kind of feel mad or sad. Just kidding, I just feel mad. I saw one slash the tire and that’s not nice.
Clarissa: They slashed my tire. It was a pretty obvious slash, straight cut on the side wall. They just seem to think they can do whatever they want and bully everybody around. It’s just not right. It’s just not right. They scared me. They scared my kids. They changed my view on basically the way I look at them now.
Slide Says: Let’s hold the Border Patrol accountable.”

DHS Tells American Border Guards To Run Away From Illegal Immigrants

” Top administration officials have directed 21,000 border patrol officers to retreat whenever illegal immigrants throw rocks at them, and to avoid getting in front of foreign drug-smugglers’ vehicles as they head north with their drug shipments.

“ Agents shall not discharge firearms in response to thrown or hurled projectiles… agents should obtain a tactical advantage in these situations, such as seeking cover or distancing themselves,” said the instructions, issued Mar. 7, under the signature of Michael Fisher, chief of U.S. Border Patrol.

Agents were also directed to keep their weapons holstered when drug smugglers drive by.”

Read the rest of this absurdity here . We might as well disband the Border Patrol right now . What on earth do we need a law enforcement agency that cannot enforce the law for ? Only in Obamaworld . It’s all part of their Open Borders plan to create a permanent Democratic majority .

” We’re In The Best Of Hands “

” The National Border Patrol Council has come forward to reveal to the American public once again management practices that could be risking the lives of Americans — and the lives of illegal immigrants.

Shawn Moran, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council, spoke exclusively with Breitbart News and claimed that Border Patrol management has begun the practice of ordering Border Patrol Agents to stand down and cease pursuing drug smugglers, human smugglers and traffickers, and illegal aliens. He also warned it could lead to illegal aliens entering the country from nations associated with terrorism.”

Border Guards Caught Only 49% Of Migrants

” Drone-mounted radar found U.S. border guards caught fewer than half the migrants who illegally crossed into one area of Arizona, internal reports indicate.

The Vehicle Dismount and Exploitation Radar, known as Vader, operated from a Predator surveillance drone 5 miles in the sky, shows U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 1,874 of 3,836 people who illegally crossed into a 150-square-mile stretch of the Sonora Desert in southern Arizona from Oct. 1 to Jan. 17, the reports cited by the Los Angeles Times indicate.

This means the radar system, developed to track Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, spotted an additional 1,962 people in the same area who evaded arrest and disappeared into the United States, the Times said.

The 49 percent capture rate contrasts with the Government Accountability Office’s January estimate the Border Patrol caught 64 percent of those who illegally crossed into the Tucson sector in 2011.

The drone’s tally could cause difficulties for White House efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform after Congress returns from recess next week, the Times said.”

This whole affair raises serious questions beyond the obvious dealt with in this article . For one thing , how could anyone in this administration imagine that it is a good thing to keep Holder on ? By now it should be obvious to all that with the election fast approaching and with the scandal that is “Fast & Furious” not likely to fade away anytime soon , the sooner Holder steps down the easier it will be for the Obama cartel to batten down the hatches and undertake some damage control

Dragging this out , with the very strong possibility of the investigation coming to fruition in the next few months , would  seem to guarantee ample negative publicity at the most inopportune moment .What might they have up their sleeve ? Could the Obama team be this dense or is there some grand scheme of which Eric Holder is a necessary part ?

“Attorney General Eric Holder again today would not answer who the highest-ranking Obama administration official was that had knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious and the gunwalking tactics it employed before Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was murdered.

Instead, when House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith pressed him directly during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday, Holder dodged giving a response.”
