Steve King: How Can American Jews Be ‘Democrats First And Jewish Second’

” Rep. Steve King wants to know how American Jews continue to identify as Democrats.

The Iowa congressman questioned how American Jews can be “Democrats first and Jewish second,” while supporting President Obama’s foreign policy toward Israel.

” Well, there were some 50 or so Democrats that decided they would boycott the president’s speech. One thing that’s happened is — just look at the polling, that means — here is one thing that I don’t understand, I don’t understand how Jews in America can be Democrats first and Jewish second and support Israel along the line of just following their president,” he said on Boston Herald radio Friday when asked about the Democratic members of Congress who skipped out on attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress some two weeks ago.”

Cracker Barrel vs. Duck Dynasty

” If you think the A&E Network’s decision to indefinitely suspend the star of its cash cow “Duck Dynasty”made bad business sense, wait until you hear what Cracker Barrel did. Yesterday the restaurant chain that made its name and fortune on the appetites of Southern folk like Phil Robertson and the rest of his duck-calling entrepreneurial family decided to pull some “Duck Dynasty” merchandise from its stores.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Cracker Barrel cited its “pleasing people” motto and its commitment to “the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people.” The company then explained why “Duck Dynasty” no longer may reflect those ideals:

We continue to offer Duck Commander products in our stores. We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation. We continually evaluate the products we offer and will continue to do so.

It didn’t take long for “Duck Dynasty” fans to voice their outrage to Cracker Barrel, which has more than 67,000 employees at its 600-plus stores. At last check, the Facebook statement had sparked more than 27,000 comments, most of them from regular diners who said they won’t be any longer. The post also has been shared more than 4,900 times, presumably by those same former customers telling their friends to boycott Cracker Barrel in the future.

All of which made me wonder: Why would Cracker Barrel take this stand? The executives and corporate board members who run the chain surely know that most of the people who shop and eat at an “old country store and restaurant” are the enlightened rednecks who sided with the Robertsons. Yet Cracker Barrel decided to cast its lot with A&E, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and the Human Rights Campaign.

I found the answer in Cracker Barrel’s corporate history — not the filtered, flattering version the company tells but the version you can find via Google. The key finding: Cracker Barrel has been in trouble with homosexual rights activists before.”

Here is Cracker Barrel’s Facebook page along with a few comments re: Phil Robertson

” Jody Dixon After you are done removing the selected products, go ahead and remove a bunch of tables and chairs……you won’t be needing them any more.

Michael Stover UNlike. Don’t cave in to the politically correct mob of left wing INtolerant fools. Stand for free speech, or risk losing lots of customers, like ME.

Charlene Harrelson Griffin I have no problem passing on Cracker Barrel and heading to the nearest Chick-Fil-A from now on. “

Have You Ever Wondered Whether The Money You Spend Ends Up Funding Causes You Oppose?

BUYCOTT

” A buycott is the opposite of a boycott. Buycott helps you to organize your everyday consumer spending so that it reflects your principles.

Example: During the SOPA/PIPA debate in 2012, a number of companies pushed to pass legislation that reduced online freedom of expression, while other companies fought hard to oppose the legislation. With Buycott, a campaign can be quickly created around a cause, with the goal of targeting companies with a boycott unless they change their position, or buycotting a company to show your support.

When you use Buycott to scan a product, it will look up the product, determine what brand it belongs to, and figure out what company owns that brand (and who owns that company, ad infinitum). It will then cross-check the product owners against the companies and brands included in the campaigns you’ve joined, in order to tell you if the scanned product conflicts with one of your campaign commitments.

NRA Boycott Kills Outdoors Show That Banned Semi-Automatic Weapons

” A massive boycott backed by the NRA and outdoorsmen and women outraged that the nation’s largest outdoors show banned the exhibition of assault weapons has caused the show’s organizers to abruptly cancel the week-long event in Harrisburg, Pa.

The boycott by the NRA and 170 other exhibitors, however, is what killed the show said one exhibitor. “We need to stand firm against those siding with the anti-gun crowd,” said the exhibitor on background.

Pennsylvania Rep. Tom Marino said he was disappointed in the cancellation, and blamed Reed Exhibition’s gun ban. “The decision represents yet another attempt to undermine protections guaranteed to all Americans under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and it restricts the ability for law-abiding citizens to purchase legal firearms that are increasingly being used for hunting in a number of states. ”

Buycott For CEO Who Says Obamacare Will Cost Too Much Dough

” The raging food fight over Obamacare expands to Papa John’s pizza today, as National Papa John’s Appreciation Day is being held in support of the restaurant’s CEO John Schattner. The founder of the popular pizza chain recently criticizedObamacare’s increasing costs on the franchise, and explained that employee hours would need to be slashed in order to cover added expenses.  The result has been a public relations furor over the CEO’s lack of delicacy on the sensitive political matter .

The national appreciation day counters the planned boycott by supporters of Obamacare, who believe that the rich one-percenter should cover the additional expenses out of his own pocket or raise his prices. There is a major dispute over how much the Obamacare legislation will actually cost the pizza chain. While Schattner claims that government compliance will mean to $5-8 million in costs and a 10-14 cent increase per pie, a Forbes analysis puts the cost at less than a penny per pizza.  “

Ex-Limbaugh sponsor says dropping show during Fluke controversy hurt company

” Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw
our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will
ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”

Looks like they made a mistake .

” So how has dumping Limbaugh
worked out for Carbonite? Not so well. Turns out alienating Rush’s fans may have been more damaging than alienating his critics. “
