Wintry Summer Blast Arrives In The West With Record Cold And Snow

” The calendar may still say summer, but old man winter barreled his way in to ruin the fun, dumping up to 20 inches of snow across the Rockies and sending temperatures plunging to as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit in Wyoming, with wind chills — yes, wind chills — in the 20s as far south as Denver, Colorado, on Friday morning.

It’s not unusual to see snow in the Rocky Mountains or even in Denver in September, but the strength of this cold air mass, and the snow totals, were both noteworthy.

The snow caused major tree damage in Cody and Buffalo, Wyoming, where up to 10 inches fell on Wednesday night and Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, this was earliest recorded snowfall for Cody (by one day), where records date back to 1915. The temperature in Jackson, Wyoming, dropped to 18 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday morning. “

” They messed with the wrong pizza guy.

A gang of robbers attacked a pizza deliveryman just before 10:30 p.m. Monday as he brought food to a house in the 400 block of Cornwall Avenue, near Erie County Medical Center.

In the front hallway of the house, one of the robbers, who wore a mask and had a brown hoodie pulled over his face, hit the pizza man on the head with a hammer, according to police. The masked man also displayed what appeared to be a gun, police said.

But then, the delivery man told investigators, he pulled out his own handgun and fired a shot, striking the masked man. The rest of the gang scattered.

DeJuan Coleman, 18, of Deerfield Avenue, was under police guard at ECMC in fair condition Tuesday, recuperating from gunshot wounds to the upper right arm and abdomen. He has been charged with first-degree robbery.

The pizza deliveryman, whose name is being withheld by Buffalo police for safety reasons, was treated for head cuts and bruises as well as a left hand injury suffered in the robbery attempt. Police said his gun was properly registered.”

Gun Control Man Arrested For Carry

” More than a dozen cop cars, the SWAT team, K9 units and the Erie County Sheriff’s Air One helicopter swarmed Harvey Austin Elementary School in Buffalo on Thursday after reports of a man with a gun near the school or on the grounds. Dwayne Ferguson, head of the Buffalo chapter of MAD DADS, was taken into custody. He will be arraigned Friday.

An anonymous call came into 911 around 4:15 p.m. that a man with a gun was seen inside the Sycamore Street school. The building was placed in lockdown and around 60 students who were in the building for after school programs were herded into the cafeteria as officers from every district in the city went room-to-room in twos and threes looking for a possible gunman. A portion of Sycamore Street and Walden Avenue were closed and parents were kept from the scene until a preliminary sweep of the school was complete.

Meanwhile, the SWAT team conducted a more thorough secondary search of the school. It was during the secondary search that police found Ferguson with a gun.”

What Difference Does It Make , Hillary ?

Hillary Heckled

” Hillary Clinton continued her post-retirement speaking tour in Buffalo last night, but it didn’t go undisturbed. A heckler began yelling in the middle of her speech, shouting “Benghazi! Benghazi! You let them die!” Clinton responded by insisting that issues need calm discussion, not yelling:

Ed Morrissey said it best .

” I seem to recall when Congress asked Hillary Clinton to sit down and tell them the truth about what happened in Benghazi that her reaction didn’t exactly follow her own advice:”

NY SAFE Act Nabs its First Gun Owner: An Iraq War vet (VIDEO)

” A Western New York man now faces seven years in prison for violating Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new gun control-law, the NY Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (or SAFE Act).

Benjamin M. Wassell, an Iraq War veteran, was charged with twice selling newly banned military-style ‘assault’ weapons and standard-capacity magazines to an undercover police officer as part of a sting operation conducted by State Police and the New York Attorney General’s Office, the Buffalo News reported.

The first sale Wassell made to the undercover officer was made nine days after the Governor rammed through the law in the dead of night after waving the mandatory three-day legislative review period.

Instead of arresting Wassell after his first offense, the investigators held out and remained undercover to see if he would sell another banned firearm.  Unfortunately, he did.

Thoughts and analysis

This is only beginning.

Gun owners in the Empire State should be on high-alert moving forward.  Both Cuomo and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg will continue to appropriate state and city resources to conducting sting operations that attempt to entrap law-abiding gun owners.

NY SAFE Act: Question on ‘Assault’ Weapons Registration

The way it looks, lawmakers want to ensure that this law is taken seriously.  Previously legal firearms are now banned.  And if you fail to register them in the coming weeks, you’re now a criminal in the eyes of the state.

Also, please note that these laws do not only apply to firearms, but magazines as well.  The NY SAFE Act put a retroactive ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.  If you’re caught with a 10-plus round magazine, you’re a criminal.  If you load more than seven rounds in your ten round magazine, you’re in violation of the law.”
