USA Today Gives Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America The Microphone. Literally.

USA Today Anti-Gun

USA Today is as anti-gun as they come. To be fair, the McPaper sometimes gives the pro-gun side column equal time in dueling editorials, including me. But most of the time USA Today has no interest in being fair. This video piece and printed article on Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America’s visit to Capitol Hill highlights the editors’ willingness to bias their reports for the bloody shirt wavers seeking civilian disarmament – regardless of the fact that the empress has no clothes. For example . . .

The headline: Moms flock to Capitol Hill to demand gun control. How many Moms makes a flock, pray tell? The video says “more than 100.” I’m not seeing it, you? What I am seeing: a reporter who hands Shannon and her minions the microphone and lets them make pronouncements, rather than respond to interviews. That’s not what I – or any self-respecting member of the profession – call journalism. It’s what I call unfiltered anti-gun agitprop.”

The Truth About Guns has video and more on this latest anti-gun propaganda piece from USA Today .

Allen West “Here Is Truly One Of The Exceptional Good Guys On Capitol Hill”

” Here is truly one of the exceptional good guys on Capitol Hill, my former colleague and friend Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC). I would love to see President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Susan Rice being questioned by Rep. Gowdy, with no 5 minute time limit.”

This DC Bartender Will Charge President Obama $702 For A Beer

” Meet Steve Hadley! He is a bartender at the popular Capitol Hill bar, Sonoma. Steven has created special beer pricing for the government shutdown.

If you are a furloughed government worker, your beer price is $2.

If you are a furloughed government worker, your beer price is $2.

Congress pays more …

And Obama pays the most …

...he will pay $702 for his beer.

Find out why …

… One Reported Injury

” Gunshots fired near Capitol Hill Thursday prompted authorities to place the the U.S. Capitol on lockdown for less than an hour as officers swarmed the building and surrounding area.

CNN quotes Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as saying there has been “one injury.”

Members of Congress and staff members were told by Capitol police to “immediately shelter in place.” Less than an hour later, a message on a TV screen in the Senate press gallery flashed an “all clear” message.

The incident involved a car chase that began near the White House and ended near the Capitol, 16 blocks away, CNN and NBC reported.

Security was heightened at the White House as a precaution. ”

Update : Police shot and killed one man .

Tea Party Rally Draws Modest Crowd On Capitol Hill

” A modest crowd of Tea Party enthusiasts descended on Washington in this afternoon’s “Audit the IRS” rally on Capitol Hill.

“There’s some people who want to write the obituary for the Tea party,” Mike Needham, CEO of the Heritage Foundation’s Heritage Action for America group, told the audience.

“But the Tea Party is alive and well. We are going to write the obituary for big government,” Needham said.”

Democratic Congressman: ‘Not Fair’ To Subject Congress To Obamacare Just Like Everyone Else

“Rep. John Larson (D., Conn.), is saying that “this is simply not fair” – as key staff members head for the exits to avoid Obamacare.

… many on Capitol Hill fear it could lead to a brain drain” and notes that “[t]he problem is far more acute in the House, where lawmakers and aides are generally younger and less wealthy.”

Mr Larson , we are of the opinion that there is little brain to drain in Congress . Politics is a magnet for the mediocre and you are living proof . The truly smart excel in the real world and have no need of attaching themselves to the public teat .

” What? Obamacare disproportionally hurts those with lower incomes? It may come as a surprise, but it shouldn’t. We’ve known this since before the legislation even passed.

More to the point, why did Rep. Larson vote to impose on the country a health coverage system that “is simply not fair”?

We hope you and your fellow Reps and Senators choke on it . That will be “fair” .

Benghazi Shows Democrats At Most Desperate

” The party that swept into power on promises of transparency and accountability scrambled Wednesday to circle wagons in an extravagant attempt to protect administration officials, the White House and the woman many Democrats hope will be their next nominee for president.

Congressional Democrats strenuously tried covering up the inquiry into the botched handling and dishonest aftermath of the terrorist attack on a U.S. facility in Benghazi that left our ambassador to Libya and three other Americans dead.

It was a performance the likes of which have not been seen in this town since the darkest days of the Iraq War when Republicans on Capitol Hill scraped and scrounged for any sort of defense that could be made of the Bush administration and the mountains of bad news that kept emerging from Iraq.

A Democratic Congress, we were promised back then, would be different. Democrats vowed to be a check on the White House and the administration no matter who was president. Turns out, that was just something that sounded good in the heat of an election campaign.”

Gun Owners Of America: For When The NRA Hasn’t ‘Gone Far Enough’

” Gun Owners of America has far fewer members and much less money than the better-known NRA, but the group is emerging as an influential voice in Washington.

A gun rights group working feverishly to prevent the passage of several gun control bills in Congress has apparently caught the ear of several lawmakers. No, it’s not the National Rifle Association.

Gun Owners of America, a lobbying organization that’s been around since 1975, doesn’t get nearly as much media attention as the larger, better-funded and better-known NRA, but its voice is increasingly being heard on Capitol Hill.

Gun Owners of America’s mission is to “preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners.” It has about 300,000 dues-paying members, compared with 5 million for the NRA. The group spent $1.3 million last year to lobby Congress, while the NRA spent nearly $3 million, according to the Times.

Pratt told MSN News his group is “totally separate” from, and often at odds with, the NRA.

GOA makes it a point to differentiate itself from the larger NRA. Pratt told the Times that part of the group’s mission is to stay on top of the NRA “when we don’t think they’ve gone far enough.”

Ron Paul, the libertarian congressman from Texas, has called the GOA “the only no-compromise gun lobby in America.”

Pratt told MSN News: “The reason we why we oppose the background checks, the measure currently at the top of the wish list of other side, is that all evidence points to it becoming a national gun registry.”

Obama Couldn’t Eat At Hill Meeting Without Food ‘Taster’

“He looked longingly at it,” Collins continued. “He honestly did look longingly at it, but apparently he has to have essentially a taster, and I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned all of us would have keeled over so, but he did look longingly at it and he remarked that we have far better food than the Democrats do, and I said that was because I was hosting.”

Democrats Complain About Presence Of Debt Clock On Capitol Hill

” Some members of Congress apparently don’t like to be reminded about how much debt the country continues to rack up. Rep.  and  Rep.  both issued complaints about the displays, according to video of the hearing.”

Oppose Joe Manchin’s Veterans Gun Ban and National Gun Registry

” Reports out of Capitol Hill reveal that just-reelected turncoat West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is about to stick a big knife in the back of American gun owners.  And to make matters worse, he’s lying about what he’s doing.
Both Manchin and House anti-gun crazy Carolyn McCarthy are claiming to be “working with NRA” to enact gun bans and national gun registries. NRA says flatly that Manchin is lying, and we believe he is. (The Hill, 1/24/13)

150,000 honest law-abiding veterans are currently in the NICS system.  They didn’t do anything wrong; they honorably served their country.  But when they sought VA counseling for a traumatic combat experience, the VA appointed a fiduciary to oversee their fiscal affairs and then took away their guns.  And, again, there are 150,000 honest veterans in the system.

What the Manchin bill is about is insuring that “bad guys” like veterans can’t get guns.  And, under Barack Obama’s “Executive Action #1,” the NICS list could soon include tens of millions of additional soldiers, police, firemen, and other law-abiding Americans.”

Rand Paul To Introduce Bill Nullifying Obama’s Executive Orders On Guns

While it may only be symbolic it’s heartening to know that someone in DC is paying attention .

Via the Daily Caller, a teaser for his appearance on “Hannity” later tonight. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that a guy who just visited Israel and is now talking about blocking executive overreach on gun-grabbing just might be running for president in 2016.

The bill will go nowhere but conservatives will appreciate the gesture:

“I’m told Sen. Rand Paul will introduce language within hours, within hours, to call for the nullification and prohibition of funding for the president’s executive actions announced today and possibly even using the federal courts to nullify and defund some of the things that he plans on doing,” [Fox News host Eric] Bolling said.

[A] Capitol Hill source told TheDC that Paul’s legislation is expected to do three things: nullify Obama’s executive orders, defund them and ask the Senate to file a court challenge to them.

At the very least, if he can figure out a way to bring this to the floor, it’ll be fun to see how Democrats whose seats are up next year will vote on it. Word on the Hill is that Reid might not even force a vote on the assault-weapons ban lest it prove too difficult for red-state Dems’ reelection campaigns. (According to aCNN poll released today, the recent surge of support for gun control is already starting to fade.)

Fiscal Cliff: ABC Talks Taxes 17 Times More Than Spending Cuts

” America is racing toward the Jan. 1 fiscal cliff deadline when tax hikes and spending cuts automatically take effect. But the overwhelming news focus has been only on tax hikes as a solution to the problem. Since the election, ABC News has talked about raising taxes more than 17 times more than spending cuts.

The network isn’t alone, it was just the worst of the bunch. The Media Research Center’s Business and Media Institute analyzed evening news coverage of the budget battle and found both NBC and CBS also discussed taxes far more than spending – spinning the Capitol Hill battle into one where the liberal agenda of increased spending dominated. Overall, the networks focused more than twice as much on tax increases as they did on spending (29 minutes 31 seconds to 12 minutes 54 seconds). “
