At $139 Million, Newly Listed Florida Home Is Most Expensive In U.S.

” Making a grand splash on the Multiple Listing Service this week is a Hillsboro Beach, Fla., mansion that, at $139 million, is the most expensive home publicly listed for sale in the United States.

Currently under construction, the palatial estate known as Le Palais Royal draws inspiration from the Palace of Versailles with gold leafing, stone walkways, balconies and six fountains.”

” Entered through a vaulted foyer, the residence centers on a sweeping, $2-million staircase cased in steel-iron and gold leaf. Among the more opulent features are an Imax home theater, a 1,300-gallon aquarium and a subterranean garage with parking for 30 vehicles.

The second-floor presidential suite comes complete with private outdoor terrace with a plunge pool while three additional master suites sport Jacuzzis with ocean views.  In all, the mansion touts 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms in 60,000 square feet of living space.”

” Set beneath a 12-foot cascading waterfall, an infinity edge pool features an LED-lit water slide, fire pit and swim-up bar. Above the waterfall is a Jacuzzi. Designed for year-round enjoyment, an entertainer’s courtyard includes a summer kitchen, a pizza oven, an outdoor lounge and an entrance to an indoor spa and massage rooms.

For the mega-yacht owner, Le Palais Royal boasts a 492-foot dock capable of accommodating seafaring vessels up to 185 feet in length. Occupying four acres on Millionaires Mile, the estate also includes 465 feet of private beachfront and is slated for completion in 2015. “

If sold for the asking price , this amazing private residence would surpass the recent purchase price of Copper Beech Farm in Connecticut but still come up short of this property on Further Lane in Amagansett , NY by six million dollars .

“Everybody out here is totally mystified,” one local told me.

The beachfront property on Further Lane — with formal gardens and a pond — was the dream house of Christopher H. Browne, managing director of the Tweedy, Browne Company investment firm, and his boyfriend, architect Andrew Gordon.”

Less than three weeks after “Copper Beech Farm” set a new record for the highest sale price of a private home in America at $120 million , this East Hampton property bests that number by $25 Million . Things are good for the 1% .

Update: Daily Mail reveals “mystery” buyer as hedge funder , what else ,  Barry Rosenstein.

Most Expensive Home Hits The Market At $190 Million

” There’s Versace’s former home, priced at $100 million, Steven Cohen’s $115 million apartment and a Manhattan penthouse listed at $125 million. But none of them hold a candle to Copper Beech Farm and its 50 acres of waterfront in Greenwich, CT, which recently hit the market at $190 million, becoming the most expensive listing in the U.S. (Click here or on the photo to go to a slideshow.)”

” While the house is impressive — public records measure it at 13,519 square feet with 12 bedrooms and 9 baths — it’s the spectacular land that pushes the price tag up to nearly $200 million. The home sits on 4,000 feet of coveted waterfront property on Long Island Sound, which doesn’t includes the additional access to two private islands in the Sound. The two parcels, one at 30 acres and one at 20, contain a grass tennis court, formal gardens, carriage house, apple orchard, two greenhouses and a 75-foot-long heated pool. Considering that a 75-acre Greenwich property nowhere near the water is listed at $32.5 million, the $190 million ask is a little more understandable.”

” Thinking about financing a place like this? According to Zillow’s mortgage calculator and assuming a 20 percent down payment (which would be $38 million) on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, a monthly payment would be $687,734.”
