Christopher Dorner $1m Reward Split Between Three

Christopher Dorner

” Three people who helped authorities find the Los Angeles police officer turned killer Christopher Dorner will share a $1m (£646,000) reward, a panel of retired judges has ruled.

A furor erupted after two of the groups that originally pledged to contribute to a reward for Dorner’s capture wanted to pull their money out because he had killed himself. The three-judge panel, however, ruled that Dorner had in effect been captured when he was surrounded by police in the cabin where he died.

The judges found that a married couple who broke free and called police after being tied up by Dorner in their mountain cabin should receive 80% of the reward; a ski resort employee who spotted Dorner’s burning truck in the San Bernardino Mountains five days earlier should get 15%; and 5% should go to a tow truck driver who reported seeing Dorner in a gas station earlier that day.

Dorner, 33, who was accused of killing four people in a vendetta against the police force, died on 12 February in a fiery conclusion to a standoff with officers in the mountains above Los Angeles.”

“Raw Milk Co-Op Farmer Acquitted
Through Jury Nullification”

“Over the past two years, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture has illegally
raided Alvin’s van, warehouse, and farm resulting in the multiple charges that were decided upon in court last week. Technically, Alvin
was guilty of breaking the laws in question, even though the laws are totally ridiculous and unjust. Luckily this jury was informed about the process of jury nullification, and their legal right to rule in favor of the accused for breaking unjust laws.”

Reason brings news of another victory in the courts for gun rights .

“One issue Heller did not address was whether the Second Amendment also applied to state and local governments. In April 2009, a 3-judge panel of the 9th Circuit pushed that issue into the spotlight with a decision in the Nordyke’s case. Although the 9th Circuit voted to uphold the Alameda County gun law, the court also declared that the time had come for the Second Amendment to be enforced against the states. “The crucial role this deeply rooted right has played in our birth and history compels us to recognize that it is indeed fundamental,” wrote Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain. “We are therefore persuaded that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Second Amendment and applies it against the states and local governments.” “

Kimberlin Story Gains Traction

The presence of IBD at Aaron Walker’s Hearing would seem to indicate that the story of Brett Kimberlin is finally starting to gain some notoriety other than just in the blogosphere .

“Adding to Walker’s difficulties is that Vaughey looks to be in his late 60s at least. He mentioned a few times about being retired. (Apparently it’s common for retired judges to sometimes come back to the bench to help active judges with the caseload.) Many of Vaughey’s statements suggest that he doesn’t spend much time on the Internet. Thus, he’s probably not intimately familiar with things like Google (GOOG) and Twitter and how they work.

It seemed like Walker did himself in when the judge asked, “Where do you see this case going?”

Walker, who has tried to get the Maryland State Attorney to file charges against Kimberlin for filing what Walker claims are false criminal charges against him (see here), replied, “I hope to raise enough consciousness to get the State’s Attorney to file charges.”

“How are you going to do that?” Vaughey asked.

Walker replied, “I’ve been raising awareness. There’s now 400,000 posts on Google discussing him (Kimberlin), and I’m guessing 300,000 of them are not very pleasant. These are people calling for charges to be filed.”

If you are a judge who knows very little about the Internet, Walker has just made it sound as though he’s able to generate all of this Google traffic against Kimberlin. And Vaughey seemed to believe that is what caused Kimberlin to get death threats.”

Stacy McCain has the latest developments from ” the Kimberlin Files ” .

” Since 2010, Kimberlin has bee suing, smearing, harassing, and otherwise attempting to intimidate bloggers who write about his
criminal history. It seemed he was intent on silencing the truth and — although I had never even heard of him until May 17 — within four
days of my beginning to report about him on my personal blog, Kimberlin began targeting me
with his thug tactics.
On Monday, May 21, I left
my Maryland home and departed to another state where, for the past week, I’ve continued a series of reports I’ve called ” The Kimberlin
Files .” These online dispatches have been filed from an undisclosed location, my whereabouts concealed in order to protect myself and others
from the menace of a dangerous man who by all rights should still be behind bars.”

Reportedly , Aaron Walker was arrested at the courthouse hearing today .

“UPDATE IV : Just spoke to a source who confirms that witnesses saw Walker led out of the courtroom in handcuffs. Ali Akbar, president of the National Bloggers Club,

as a show of support . “

Keep him on the public’s mind .

“Convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin’s failed attempt to silence bloggers who tell the
truth about Kimberlin’s criminality will be the subject of a court hearing Tuesday morning in Montgomery County,
Maryland.
Kimberlin, who in 1981 was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for his Indiana bombing spree and other crimes , has
requested a “peace order” against Virginia attorney Aaron Walker, who says Kimberlin tried to “frame” him on an assault charge
earlier this year.
   The final hearing on
Kimberlin’s peace order request – which Walker has described as “frivolous” – is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in Montgomery County District Court ( 191 E. Jefferson St., Rockville, Md. 20850 ), according to the court’s official Web site .”

The Battle Lines Are Drawn

Although not a particularly religious man , partly because of organized religion’s current penchant for towing the government “liberal, statist” line , I find this refreshing in the extreme . –

“Congratulations are in order for the Catholic Church, whose archdioceses in America went to federal court today to challenge the Obama administration on the contraception mandates. Something like a dozen federal lawsuits were filed against the administration by something on the order of 43 plaintiffs, including the Archdiocese of New York, among others, and the crown jewel in Catholic education in America, Notre Dame.* It seems the liberal institutions within the Catholic world have come together with the conservative ones to stand up for the rights of religious Catholics — and by extension, the rest of us — to be free of government mandates in respect of their religion.”
