Triumphal Kos: Conservatives Are Having A ‘Tantrum’ Because The Left Has ‘Won The Battle Of Ideas’

” Daily Kos boss Markos Moulitsas thinks that conservatives typically come off as angry and resentful, and in a Monday post he argued that’s because culturally, economically, and politically, the world “has left them behind…[T]hey’ve created an entire alternate media world in which to cocoon themselves. But they know they’ve lost.”

Kos warned liberals not to celebrate just yet: “[P]ower isn’t just about ideas. It’s about wrestling the institutional levers of government from the retrogrades. Those entrenched economic and conservative interests wield power via the Supreme Court, through gross gerrymandering, through voter suppression efforts. So we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us.”

From Kos’s post (emphasis added):

…[L]iberals have won the culture war…

Liberal social values are deeply embedded in our culture, from pretty much everything on TV outside the Christian channels at the fringe of the channel lineup, to any movie of note. In that Breitbart link above, Nick [sic! make that John] Nolte waxes about God’s Not Dead, an indie Christian film that has grossed $41 million on a production budget of $2 million. Good job! Then again, it’s a blip. Captain America has grossed nearly half a [b]illion in 10 days, with its overtly civil-libertarian and anti-neocon message. I mean, Captain America is saying that a fear-based (read: Republican) foreign policy is not the “American Way.” “

We hate to burst his bubble , but we think Mr Moulitsas has it exactly backwards . For nearly two generations now the left has controlled the media , academia and the entertainment industry and what do they have to show for it ? A population that grows ever wearier of the heavy hand of the State and municipal governments nationwide brought to the edge of bankruptcy by the exact liberal policies the Koz kid trumpets .

The tide has indeed turned , but not in the direction the “progressives” think .

French Far-Right Triumphs In Local Polls That Hammer Ruling Socialists

France's local elections

” France’s far-right National Front party dealt a major blow to the ruling Socialists Sunday after several of its candidates took prime position in the first round of local elections.

The main centre-right opposition UMP party also hailed a “big victory” as initial estimates showed it came out trumps in the elections, as President Francois Hollande suffers record unpopularity against a backdrop of near-zero growth and high unemployment.

According to preliminary results from the interior ministry, the UMP and allies took 47 percent of the vote nationwide while the Socialist party and allies took 38 percent, and the FN five percent — far higher than its 0.9 percent result in the first round of 2008 municipal polls.

Applauding what she said was “an exceptional vintage for the FN”, Marine Le Pen — head of the anti-immigration, anti-EU party — said the polls marked the “end of the bipolarisation of the political scene”. “

In Honor Of CPAC – Where The Action Is

” We’re told that the presidency is important because the head guy gets to appoint, if he’s lucky, a couple of Supreme Court judges. But they’re playing catch-up to the culture, too. In 1986, in a concurrence to a majority opinion, the Chief Justice of the United States declared that “there is no such thing as a fundamental right to commit homosexual sodomy”. A blink of an eye, and his successors are discovering fundamental rights to commit homosexual marriage. What happened in between? Jurisprudentially nothing: Everything Chief Justice Burger said back in the Eighties – about Common Law, Blackstone’s “crime against nature”, “the legislative authority of the State” – still applies. Except it doesn’t. Because the culture – from school guidance counselors to sitcom characters to Oscar hosts – moved on, and so even America’s Regency of Jurists was obliged to get with the beat. Because to say today what the Chief Justice of the United States said 28 years ago would be to render oneself unfit for public office.”

European Far-Right Parties Team Up Against Islam And Brussels

” Six European far-right parties joined forces Thursday to combat immigration and European bureaucracy ahead of 2014 elections, French newspaper Liberation reported.

The parties, which include France’s Front National, are teaming up against two common enemies: Brussels and Islam, the newspaper said. The Netherlands’ PVV, Belgium’s Vlaams Belang, Italy’s Liga Norte, Swedish democrats and Austria’s Freedom Party met at a hotel in Vienna to discuss the outlines of their collaboration.

The meeting happened in secret so as not to attract the attention of possible demonstrators, the paper said, and to be able to devote their time to strategizing about the future of the far-right in Europe.

But Andreas Molzer, the organizer of the meeting and an Austrian member of the European Parliament, confirmed the meeting took place. “The points that unite us are more important than those that separate us,” he told Liberation.”

The “extreme right” of Europe seems to be very similar to the Tea Party on this side of the pond . In typical leftist controlled media fashion those with a divergent viewpoint must be “extreme” . More power to the nationalists . Who really wants their country to be turned into Islamic slums even as the original citizens are forced top foot the bill ?

No More Sunshine Patriots

” In the prologue to his book, “The Savior Generals,” Victor Davis Hanson asks the question, “What wins wars?” Is it superior manpower, resources, strategic planning, or cutting-edge technology? Hanson explains that these certainly play a role, but they’re not always enough. Sometimes it’s the human element that makes the difference. On rare occasions, “generals and the leadership of single individuals can still matter more than these seemingly larger inanimate forces.”

Hanson is talking about military conflict, but this observation can be applied to politics as well, to the culture war we’re fighting. Americans are, in some ways, like the Athenians who fled their city, a once-thriving democracy, as the Persian King Xerxes torched it, killing or enslaving all who stood in his way. We’re not facing physical threats and our cities are not literally burning, but our way of life is just as threatened, our vibrant Republic is on the brink of annihilation.

There certainly is a sense of desperation among conservatives and libertarians—not despair, but a heightened awareness that something drastic must happen now or we will never be able to regain what we’ve lost. We are facing an American crisis.

“These are,” as Thomas Paine wrote, “the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

To overcome this crisis, to win, we must recognize that we’re in a war. A war against tyranny. A war against progressive philosophies that seek to undermine and destroy the foundations of our freedoms. A war against those who disregard our Constitution and rule by fiat, who treat our homeland like a whore to be ravaged at will, and who violate our privacy in the name of safety.

If we’re going to triumph, we need good strategies and wise tactics, but we also need a leader, a savior. Not a messiah in the soteriological sense, but a “savior general,” a leader who is willing to face insurmountable odds as Henry V did and recognize that when it comes to war, passivity, civility, and compromise have no place.”

Conservatives Are Boobs When it Comes to Pop Culture

” Now that we are descending into nanny-state soft tyranny under the sure and certain leadership of our beloved Not-A-Dictator, we are going to need a Minister of All Cultures and my nominee is John Nolte of Breitbart’s Big Hollywood. First of all, I know Nolte so even under the new regime, I should be able to score copies of movies with all the offensive scenes still intact. And second of all, I’m beginning to think that he is the last sane man discussing pop culture in America except for me. And I’m not too sure about me.

Last week, the Noltenator ran a terrific piece defending funny man Seth MacFarlane from both left-wing and right-wing attacks on his off-beat, politically incorrect and also very amusing Academy Awards performance. Especially under fire was a song called “We Saw Your Boobs,” which named which actresses had exposed themselves in which movies. Critics on left and right called the song sexist, offensive, puerile, etc, and Nolte explained to them: shut the hell up.

” What strikes me as wrong-headed… is all this taking of offense and hurling of “ists.” I fear we’re becoming a nation of well-intentioned (sometimes) “Footloose” dads who see danger in harmless fun; where we cry “ist” to put a stop to things that make us uncomfortable; where — so “we don’t offend” and “for the good of others” – we build restrictions. And what happens in the process? We lose our own capacity for joy and that very healthy exercise known as laughing at ourselves.”

Employees: Obama Donor In Process Of Buying Up And ‘Destroying’ America’s Top Pro-Gun Media Outlets

” Employees of Obama donor Leo Hindery Jr.’s media conglomerate Intermedia Partners, which now owns most of the top gun-culture media outlets in the country, believe that Hindery plans to gut and destroy all of them as part of a business plan that has already led to numerous layoffs and the virtual shuttering of prominent television production facilities in Minnesota and Montana.

Hindery, who was in consideration to be President Barack Obama’s secretary of commerce, is managing partner of Intermedia Partners. The New York-based media private equity fund owns Intermedia Outdoor Holdings, which publishes 17 hunting, fishing, and shooting magazines, including Guns & Ammo, Handguns, Gun Dog, Rifle Shooter and Shooting Times.

InterMedia employees believe that Hindery, a Huffington Post blogger who has contributed to numerous Democratic politicians including Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren, is in the process of consolidating all of America’s leading gun-culture media outlets and stripping them down to virtual destruction.”

The Left Is Winning The Culture War . What Are We Going To Do About It ?

Control of the media equals control of the message . In the age of ” low information ” voters that means control of the “people’s” beliefs . We cannot prevail if the left is allowed to continue their expansion and consolidation of the means of “educating” the masses .

Fighting a holding action is a losers game . Somehow we who love liberty and limited government need to take the offensive . Constantly being on the defensive  is not a winning formula .
