“President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign commented for the first time Monday afternoon about a scandal concerning campaign donations that first broke at The Daily Beast, but the campaign offered no specifics about its social media fundraising system.
“We take great care to make sure that every one of our more than three million donors are eligible to donate and that our fundraising efforts fully comply with all U.S. laws and regulations,” Obama campaign spokesman Adam Fetcher told Peter Schweizer of the Government Accountability Institute and Peter Boyer of Newsweek. (RELATED: Obama campaign may have illegally solicited foreign donors via social media website)”
A most disgraceful performance by all of this administration .
“ Jihadists twice set off explosives at the consulate prior to the incident that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, and announced threats on Facebook about escalating attacks on Western targets in the run-up to the 9/11 anniversary, according to whistleblowers reaching out to House Republicans.”
Heads should roll , starting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and continuing over with Foggy Bottom . The level of incompetence and deceit exhibited by the Obama administration is overwhelming …. But you got a free phone so it’s ok . Boy have we ever sunk so low .
“The new information disclosed in the letter obtained by The Daily Beast strongly suggests the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and the late Ambassador Chris Stevens were known by U.S. security personnel to be targets for terrorists. Indeed, the terrorists made their threats openly on Facebook.
“For example, following a May 22 early-morning attack on a facility that housed the International Committee on the Red Cross, a Facebook page claimed responsibility, and said the attack was a warning and a “message for the Americans disturbing the skies over Derna.” That reference was likely to American surveillance drones over a city that provided fighters to al Qaeda in Iraq in the last decade.”
But remember … It was all about a movie .
“The Daily Beast‘s Noah Kristula-Green honors the dead in Aurora by recycling a pro-gun-control post that The Atlantic‘s Richard Florida wrote in the wake of last year’s Tucson massacre. Florida observed that “as of July 29 of last year , Arizona became one of only three states that allows [sic] its citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit,” as if that policy had facilitated Jared Lee Loughner’s shooting rampage. But why would a man bent on mass murder shrink from violating gun laws? It is hard to imagine someone like Loughner thinking, “I really want to kill a bunch of innocent people at a shopping center, but the law says I’m not allowed to carry my guns there.” In any case, the numbers Florida presents to back up his thesis that strict gun laws reduce violence come from 2007, three years before Arizona abolished its carry permit requirement. “
Andrew Romano over at The Daily Beast presents a convincing case for the position of GOP veep to go to New Mexico governor Susana Martinez . I have to admit that , though I am not terribly familiar with her , there is much wisdom in the proposition. Read the whole thing and decide for yourselves .
An excerpt :
“Consider Romney’s vulnerabilities. He trails Barack Obama by as many as 56 percentage points among Latinos. Women prefer the president by roughly 20 points. Conservatives still distrust him, and populists in both parties suspect that he’s a vulture capitalist who likes to fire people. New Mexico’s Martinez, the first Latina governor in U.S. history, would solve each of these problems, or help as much as any running mate conceivably could. Within minutes of meeting me in Santa Fe one morning last month, she is speaking fluent Spanish, reminiscing about the .357 magnum she acquired at age 18, and describing her family’s mom-and-pop security business back in El Paso. A scout from Boston would have been very pleased.”

Update : Martinez has said that she would not take the nomination if offered .
