” Barack Obama did not blow apart Hillary Clinton’s huge lead during the 2008 Democratic primaries just because he was a landmark African-American candidate, new to the scene, and a skilled campaigner. Even Democrats were all Clintoned out

By such weariness, I don’t suggest that either of the Clintons is unpopular. Indeed, Americans apparently look fondly back on the high-growth 1990s as the continuation of the Reagan-Bush boom years, and a time when Democrats and Republicans finally fixed budget deficits. (Note well that when Obama went back to the Clinton-era tax rates for the more affluent, the deficit dipped, but certainly did not approach the balanced budget that was once achieved by spending discipline under the Clinton-Gingrich compromise.)

The problem instead is Hillary Clinton herself. She is not a very good speaker, and is prone to shrill outbursts and occasional chortling. She has a bad habit of committing serial gaffes (e.g., speaking too candidly), and what she says on Monday is often contradicted by her rantings on Tuesday. She seems cheap and obsessed with raking in free stuff. When Bill steps in to correct her mistakes, either sloppily or out of some strange psychological spite, he usually makes things even worse. We saw that often in 2008 and are seeing it again now. But aside from the cosmetics of her political style, the Clintons are faced with two fundamental obstacles in 2016.”

Chicago Tribune Drops The Hammer On Obamacare

” I’m sure none of us tire of reading all the news accounts and editorials that—tragically, for those affected— echo the exact concerns and criticisms we all had of Obamacare before it passed. But this one’s a particularly straightforward and thorough takedown of the administration’s amateur hour performance, in the president’s home state.

First, the technical problems:

If you’ve tried to sign up online for health coverage under the problem-plagued Obamacare exchange, our sympathies. Many people have tried to create accounts and shop for insurance under the new law. Few have succeeded. Those that have enrolled have found that the system is prone to mistakes. Some applications have been sent to the wrong insurance company…

• Illinois officials boasted that insurance premiums here would be lower than expected. But the Tribune reported Sunday that 21 of the 22 lowest-priced plans offered for Cook County residents have whopping annual deductibles of more than $4,000 for an individual and $8,000 for family coverage. That’s much more than many families can afford to pay.”

THE DISASTERS UNLEASHED BY OBAMA’S REELECTION

” Nationally syndicated columnist and Human Events editor David Harsanyi’s new book Obama’s Four Horsemen: The Disasters Unleashed by Obama’s Reelection is out now.

“This is not a book for the faint-hearted. In chilling detail, David Harsanyi exposes the brutal and bloody dangers looming ahead during Obama’s second term. Harsanyi outlines how the Nanny State progressive-in-chief has enabled the four horsemen of debt, dependency, national decline, and the culture of death. Yes, it is apocalyptic. No, it is not irreversible. Conservatives must pray, pick themselves up, and pull together to turn our country back from Obama’s highway to hell. America must heed Harsanyi’s prophetic work!”

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? The Book of Revelation? Fire? Brimstone? Armageddon? The Last Judgment?

      Really, David? Yes, really.

As metaphors go, it’s an entirely apt one. To begin with, Conquest, Famine, War, Death—the four horsemen of the Obama Era— are coming, and they are coming in the form of a national debt disaster, an epidemic of government dependence, an erosion of our world standing, and a nihilistic view about the value of human life. If our federal government had been inclined to do anything to avoid these impending catastrophes—and I’m not sure it ever was—that day has now passed. Barack Obama’s reelection ensures we’ll be deal- ing with some level of societal instability and economic calamity in the future. No, these calamities won’t transform us into Bangladesh, and they won’t mean the United States will cease to exist. They will only mean that this particular iteration of the United States will be no more. “

Hindenburg Mystery Solved 76 Years After Historic Catastrophe

” The mystery of the Hindenburg disaster has finally been solved 76 years after the in-flight exposition occurred.

The cause of the May 6, 1937, incident that killed 35 of the 100 passengers and crew members on board was static electricity, says a team of experts who have been looking into the real trigger.

They say that after the ship flew into a thunderstorm a build up of hydrogen led to the explosion.”

Hillary Clinton Was Not A Great Secretary Of State

The Architects Of Our "Smart Diplomacy"

” If there was one constant through Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s appearances before congressional committees Wednesday, it was that lawmakers fell all over themselves heaping praise on her for the job she has done. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., was typical, saying: “Madame Secretary, you have represented us with tremendous strength and poise. You have won us friends.”

Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., gushed, “We don’t have time to give a full listing of the achievements you deserve credit for.” And Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., began his remarks by saying that he shares the “tremendous respect” of his colleagues for the job she has done.

What on Earth are they referring to? American foreign policy under Secretary Clinton has been one disaster after another. She may not deserve blame for all of them — or even most of them — but it defies common sense to call her tenure a success.

Let us review the record. ”

The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina

Morning Bell:

The Administration’s Messy Story on Libya Attack

“Washington is notorious for dropping news it doesn’t want scrutinized too closely on the last day of the work week. So last Friday was a convenient time for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to release a statement about the Obama Administration’s conflicting accounts of the attack that killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya.

The ODNI statement appears intentionally vague on exactly what it knew when and who was told. It does little to address concerns that the President’s senior supporters seemed more concerned about minimizing criticism of the White House than addressing the threat of transnational terrorism.

The question remains: Why did senior officials issue contradictory and wrong accounts of what happened during the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi?”

“Obama’s Great Islamist Delusion has come home to roost”

” Well, that didn’t work out so well.
We cast aside Hosni Mubarak on a moment’s notice without taking steps to give non-Islamist parties a timetable to organize an effective
transition; we overthrew Muammar Gaddafi, teaching tyrants the lesson that giving up nuclear ambitions is a deadly mistake, and then promptly departed leaving chaos; and we have isolated Israel among a sea of Islamist radicals as it seeks to stop the Iranian’s march towards
nuclear weapon capability.

And all the while, our own government places blame on some previously unknown guy for making some previously unknown film which might be real or not, which people who hated us
before the film take as an insult to Islam.

We’ve even sent out federal law enforcement to locate and report on someone who committed
no crime. “

What would Romney do without the media?

“Mitt Romney and the conservative base have a stormy relationship. They fight. They make up. Their affection cools. They bond again. If not for President Obama — accusing Romney of everything from tax evasion to perjury to murder — and the mainstream media’s rampant boosterism, Romney would find it tough to keep up the enthusiasm of the right. But with Obama and the MSM around, he can rest assured the base will stick with him and crawl over that proverbial glass to dump Obama.”

John Hinderaker shares with those of us unfortunate enough to not be on the democrats fundraising lists , just how they are cloaking their polling woes in monetary terms .

Beggary is so unattractive .

” The Democrats couch their anxiety in terms of fundraising, but that isn’t the real problem. The real problem is what they are seeing in the polls: Romney leading in likely voter surveys; Romney more trusted than Obama on the economy and other key issues; enthusiasm higher among
Republicans than Democrats; and so on. The extent of the anxiety the Democrats are feeling comes through loud and clear in their email communications. “

Buying our votes with our tax dollars . Feh !

” After Congress expanded presidents’ disaster relief powers in 1988, Reeves notes, they were,
unsurprisingly, “more likely to grant [relief] in year four as the presidential election neared.”
This year, Obama’s running behind 2011’s record-setting pace — but there’s time left before November, and plenty of incentive to
convert natural disasters into political gain.

“What I’m not gonna do is wait for Congress,” President Obama told “60 Minutes” last December: “wherever we have an opportunity
and I have the executive authority to go ahead and get some things done, we’re just gonna go
ahead and do ’em.” “

3 reasons the Democratic Convention could be a disaster

Back when President Obama won North Carolina in 2008, holding his re-election convention in Charlotte may have seemed like a good idea….”

” What was supposed to be an easy win—a victory lap on the anniversary of Bin Laden’s death, trumping up the president’s most militant moment—appeared to be slipping away.

The frustration—or, even anger—within the SEAL community is real, and has been brewing for months, particularly among a politically conservative core of operators. It started immediately after the raid, with questions among the Special Forces and intelligence community of whether the president should have waited to announce the kill to exploit the intelligence cache at Osama’s compound. It simmered after a Chinook helicopter was shot down, killing 30 Americans, 22 of them Navy SEALs from Team Six.

Was it a coincidence, SEALs asked themselves, catastrophe hit Team Six so soon after being named as the team responsible for the killing? “

I will forever believe that the president’s grandstanding , indiscretion and ego played a direct role in the SEAL Team 6 losses .

“[I]f you don’t have any fresh ideas ,
then you use stale tactics to scare the voters. If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.” That is what Barack Obama said when he
accepted his party’s presidential
nomination in 2008. Four years later, it
reads like a prophetic description of his
re-election campaign.
