Anger Explodes Over Treatment Of Bergdahl’s Release As Veterans, Troops Call Him A Deserter

” For all the yellow ribbons strewn across his hometown in Idaho and the gratitude expressed by his parents in an emotional visit to the White House on Saturday, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will receive a hero’s welcome when he returns to the United States after nearly five years in Taliban captivity.

From military forums across the country, a groundswell of anger is rising over the Obama administration’s silence on perhaps the most controversial question surrounding the deal that freed Bergdahl in exchange for five senior Taliban members: Was he a deserter?

So far, the U.S. government has shied away from the long-nagging question, which raged anew Monday with growing clamor on the Internet about the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance from his unit’s small forward position in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009.

Military-related blogs, Twitter accounts and Facebook pages were filled with screeds from commenters accusing Bergdahl of being a “traitor” or a Taliban “collaborator.” The online publication The Daily Beast published a nearly 2,000-word first-person account by a former Army infantry officer who said he was privy to details of Bergdahl’s disappearance and who stated flatly that “he was a deserter, and soldiers from his own unit died trying to track him down.”

The mother of one of six soldiers who’ve been identified as being killed in circumstances related to the search for Bergdahl was furious over the opaque handling of the case, telling Army Times that the Pentagon “really owes the parents of these fallen soldiers the truth.”

But instead of addressing the desertion issue head-on, complained many military analysts and war veterans, the Obama administration is allowing the debate to fester, only deepening the skepticism of current and former service members who demand to know how Bergdahl left his unit, how many U.S. forces were killed in the search effort, and whether there are plans to conduct a legal review of his case and, if necessary, prosecute him.

Michael Waltz, who as an Army major commanded U.S. Special Forces in eastern Afghanistan at the time Bergdahl disappeared, said the sergeant deserted and shouldn’t have been accorded POW status.

“ He just walked off after guard duty and wandered into the nearby village,” Waltz told McClatchy in an interview Monday. “This guy needs to be held accountable when the time is right, of course. Every American deserves to come home. I’m happy for his family. But he needs to be held accountable.”  “

Senators Urge NFL To Act On Redskins’ Name, Citing NBA Action With Donald Sterling

” Call it the Donald Sterling effect. A little over three weeks after the NBA banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for racist comments, 50 members of the U.S. Senate signed a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, urging the league’s leaders to press the Redskins to change their name.

“ The NFL can no longer ignore this and perpetuate the use of this name as anything but what it is: a racial slur,” the letter, which was obtained by the New York Times and circulated by Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) states. (It can be seen here.) “We urge the NFL to formally support a name change for the Washington football team.”

Cantwell told the Times that “we are going to find out if the NFL can act against this kind of discrimination as quickly as the NBA did.”

Harry Reid, the Democratic senator from Nevada and the Senate majority leader, has long advocated for a name change and cited the NBA’s action on May 1. “How long will the NFL continue to do nothing — zero — as one of its teams bears a name that inflicts so much pain on Native Americans?” Reid asked (via the Post’s Ed O’Keefe).”

This is just the latest example of the Statist party attempting to force a “solution” on a non-existent problem :

” What gets far less attention, though, is this:

There are Native American schools that call their teams Redskins. The term is used affectionately by some natives, similar to the way the N-word is used by some African-Americans. In the only recent poll to ask native people about the subject, 90 percent of respondents did not consider the term offensive, although many question the cultural credentials of the respondents.”

Whatever happened to private property rights ? Is there any aspect of society beyond the purview of the swine in Congress ?

This sort of meddling into the affairs of the private sector is a standard method of distraction used regularly by the powers that be , especially in election years , in a concerted effort to prevent the voters from voicing their objections to the real issues facing our corrupt government … Obamacare , Benghazi , illegal immigration , jobs , debt , and the list goes on and on .

How Now White Cowman?

look-a-squirrel

” Like everyone else, Gavin McInnes has weighed in on Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s observations on “the Negro”. Mr McInnes concludes:

This isn’t about some old guy’s views on slavery. It’s about government control. We’re not saying Bundy is the messiah and we accept him as our personal savior. We’re saying the government is wrong.

Let’s stipulate that Cliven Bundy is a racist. Let’s also assume, if only to save time, that he’s Islamophobic, homophobic and transphobic. So what? Does that make criticizing the Bureau of Land Management “racist” or “homophobic”?

During my battles with Canada’s “human rights” commissions, defenders of the racket liked to point out that the people it targeted were generally pretty unsavory. And I’d respond that the reason the standard representation of justice in statuary is a blindfolded lady is because justice is supposed to be blind: If you run a red light and hit a pedestrian, it makes no difference whether the pedestrian you hit is Nelson Mandela or Cliven Bundy. Or at least it shouldn’t: one of the basic building blocks of civilized society is equality before the law.

Likewise, if what the Bureau of Land Management is doing is wrong, the fact that Cliven Bundy is a racist sexist homophobe whateverphobe doesn’t make it right – any more than at Ruby Ridge FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi shooting Vicki Weaver in the back of the head as she was cradling her ten-month-old baby and running away from him is made right by the fact that she allegedly had “white supremacist” sympathies. As I wrote last week, I’ve little doubt that, in the era before cellphone video, the bureaucratic enforcers would have been happy to off Bundy and then come up with a reason why it doesn’t matter. At Waco, there were supposedly children being abused. So Generalissimo Janet Reno killed them all, and now they’re not being abused. In that sense, Mr Bundy is a lucky man: He got to live, and to trash his own reputation rather than having the feds do it for him.”

Naked Wife Distracts Victim While Husband Burglarizes Home

” Police in Crossville are still searching for the woman who skinny dipped in a neighbor’s pool to distract him while her husband stole from the man’s home.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 27 at the victim’s home on Canterbury Lane in the Camelot subdivision in Crossville, about 100 miles east of Nashville.

The 54-year-old victim told police he was approached by the couple, who live nearby, and the 30-something-year-old woman asked if she could swim in his pool.”

Beyond The Sexcapades There Is Something Deadly Serious Going On.

” Now Mrs. Broadwell’s father has stepped from his home in Bismarck, North Dakota, and informed the New York Daily Newsthat his daughter is the target of “character assassination.” This I cannot conceive, but I agree with him as he went on to say, “This is about something else entirely, and the truth will come out.” He added, “There’s a lot more here than meets the eye.” Ben Stein says the eye should be on Attorney General Eric Holder. Yes, perhaps, but I would keep an eye on Benghazi, and forget not Mrs. Broadwell’s revelations about Libyans being held prisoner in Benghazi by our CIA.”

… of White House Scandals

image

” Hurricane Sandy is helping drown media coverage of several White House scandals in the crucial run-up to Election Day.

The storm has also dampened coverage of Republican presidential nominee Mitt
Romney’s progress in critical Midwest swing states.

On Monday, the networks’ cameras were pointed at Obama as he stood at a White House podium to sketch out his administration’s response to the oncoming hurricane.

  “I’m extraordinarily grateful for the
cooperation of our state and local
officials. … At this point, there are no unmet needs,” he said, speaking as the president, instead of a candidate.

The cameras weren’t pointed, however, at the Obama administration’s proliferating scandals, including the
Justice Department’s “Fast and Furious” gun-smuggling project, the Treasury Department’s decision to strip Delphi Automotive workers of their pensions and the administration’s intelligence
leaks.

The cameras also weren’t pointed at the top GOP officials who recently began demanding the White House provide support for Obama’s claims that he directed his deputies to immediately secure U.S. diplomatic sites after jihadis
assaulted the Benghazi consulate on Sept. 11. “

The ‘War on Women’ …

… Backfires On Democrats

” The Democratic message in favor of the PFA is not effective at increasing the vote for Obama over Romney. What’s more, the debate over the PFA reduces support for President Obama among women who already voted for him in 2008 by 12 points, from 87 percent down to 75 percent. And Romney’s support jumps +12-points from 13 percent to 25 percent.

Voters are focused on the real problems our nation is facing – both national and generational in scope. The progressive playbook for defending Obama and attempting to regain the White House is to distract and divide.

What the “War on Women” narrative reveals is how the left chooses to demonize anyone who questions government overreach. Not only is this how they continue to push their progressive agenda – in health care, workplace regulations, education policy, and entitlement policy – but also how they perpetuate the myth of women as victims in need of government protection. “

100 Percent FED Up

So , all of a sudden tax returns are just a distraction ?

What a difference a day makes …LOL ….These people are absolutely shameless .

“Facing questions about why she and other top Congressional officials won’t release their tax
returns, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) downplayed her previous demands for
presumptive GOP presidential nominee MittRomney to release his, calling the issue a distraction.

As recently as Wednesday, Pelosi had strongly urged Romney to provide further disclosure of
his tax returns. But today, while maintaining Romney should release more documents because of “custom” and “tradition,” Pelosi said the issue was trivial compared with economic issues. “

From Talking About the Economy ”

“I don’t have psychic powers, but I do have enough brain juice to notice the odd way various unimportant topics keep popping up in the media’s chit-chat about the President – none of which
are even remotely related to his dismal record on the economy.”

“What’ll pop out of the spin machine next? Let the wild speculation begin!:
