Time Capsule Left By U.S. Founding Fathers Laid Bare In Boston

” A 220-year-old time capsule containing coins, documents and other artifacts left by U.S. founding fathers Samuel Adams and Paul Revere was opened by Massachusetts officials on Tuesday.

“ The history of Massachusetts is the history of America,” Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin said before the box was opened, adding the items were symbols of the “great hope” of the country’s founders.

The corroded 4 1/2 kilogram brass box, removed from beneath the state house last month, was painstakingly dismantled and unpacked by custodians at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts in a gallery hung with oil portraits of both men.

Among the items in the box were two dozen coins including a 1652 Pine Tree Shilling struck by colonists in defiance of England, a bronze medal portraying George Washington, a silver plate made by Revere and colonial records and newspapers.”

Historians have opened the “time capsule” buried by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams that was unearthed in Boston last month . Continue reading about the contents here .

IRS Handing Over Lerner Documents To Ways And Means

” The Internal Revenue Service will give documents and emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner to the House Ways and Means Committee, House Republicans announced Friday.

The news was released in a statement from committee Chairman Dave Camp, a Michigan Republican, who said the IRS was finally handing over the documents he requested months ago, as his committee continues its investigation into the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups

” From the few Lerner documents we have received, we know that Washington, D.C., orchestrated the targeting of groups applying for tax-exempt status, surveillance of existing tax-exempt groups and formed the proposed 501(c)(4) rules designed to push conservative groups out of the public forum,” Camp said.

” The remaining documents are key to determining the level of wrong doing and deception committed by this agency,” he added. “

When Will Our Mobile Devices Get to Work?

” You’re about to head out on long business trip or extended working “vacation.” The question is, do you bring a smartphone, your laptop, or a tablet?

For many people, the answer is all three. The phone is for answering calls, checking email, and sneaking Angry Birds; the tablet is for streaming videos; and the laptop is for all things truly work. But will lugging around a computer always be necessary?

The most important innovation for mobile productivity might be speech technology. Apps such as Ask Ziggy and Siri already handle spoken requests like “find me a hotel in San Francisco” or “remind me to call my wife in the morning,” and there are programs such as Nuance that let users dictate entire documents by voice. These kinds of programs have been around for years, but have improved greatly of late and require little training. ”

… show Obama administration’s deep involvement in Delphi pension scandal

image

” Internal Treasury Department documents described as
“highly confidential” and obtained by The Daily Caller
show a greater level of involvement in the Delphi
pension scandal from senior officials in the Obama
administration than has been previously acknowledged.
A July 2009 document prepared by the Pension Benefit
Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) titled “Treasury Talking
Points re: Delphi” shows coordination between high-level
players inside the PBGC and Treasury Department. The
document was an attachment to a July 7, 2009 email from
PBGC’s Joseph House to Treasury’s Matthew Feldman,
Oren Haker and Paul Nathanson.

The talking points show that the PBGC thought the “[v]ast
majority of individual’s [sic] covered by Delphi [pension]
Plans” were “career GM ‘brethren’ distinguishable only
by the 1999 spin-out” of Delphi from its former parent
company, General Motors.
Only those “brethren” who were union members,
however, saw their pensions preserved in the 2009 auto
bailout. Nonunion Delphi retirees lost theirs. (RELATED:
