Harry Reid Just Told Asian Americans They’re Not ‘Smarter Than Anybody Else.’ He Does Stuff Like This A Lot

” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says things from time to time that are at best impolitic and at worst pretty offensive. The term for both of these things in today’s political vernacular is “gaffe.”

Such is the case again with the above remarks from Reid, made in front of the Asian Chamber of Commerce and helpfully clipped Friday by the GOP opposition research group America Rising.

” The Asian population is so productive,” Reid told the group. “I don’t think you’re smarter than anybody else, but you’ve convinced a lot of us you are.”

He added after his remarks that he has problems “keeping my Wongs straight.” (Rimshot.) The remarks are already being given the g-word treatment. And, yes, they are certainly questionable.

Update 12:45 p.m.: Reid has now apologized, saying in a statement: “My comments were in extremely poor taste and I apologize. Sometimes I say the wrong thing.”

But Reid has also made a career out of saying such odd things — so much so that few tend to notice stuff like this. He’s like Joe Biden; he’s almost built up a gaffe immunity by committing so many small-ish gaffes.

It’s hard to argue Reid (and Biden, for that matter) doesn’t pay a price — given his unpopularity back home and nationally — but he has yet to ruin his career. Here’s a sampling of some of Reid’s greatest gaffes:

1) “Negro dialect”

2) Mitt Romney hasn’t paid taxes in 10 years

3) The hottest senator

4) Those smelly tourists

Washington Post has more on Reid’s bid to out-gaffe “Crazy Joe” , and you can find further details on Reid and his history of stupid comments below …

“Forbes wonders: Should Biden have a neurological exam?”

“Are Joe Biden’s ever-increasing verbal misstepsthe result of increased media scrutiny after three
years on a back burner, a symptom of just plain old ordinary stupidity — or an indication of organic brain damage? I’m inclined to think it’s
a combination of the first two, but Dr. Henry Miller at Forbes (a physician himself) is worried
about the latter. Should the Obama
administration get Sheriff Joe a neurological exam? “

” In the battle of the vice presidents, Ryan wins by a knockout”

” Paul Ryan is a real addition to Romney’s camp. He’s young, intelligent, well-informed and
articulate. He’s serious about matters which are serious. And he has a genuine personal appeal. In fact, when I think of Ryan in
comparison with the Jar Jar Binks who currently serves President Obama, that bundle of
malapropisms, confusion, malice and profound shallowness the world knows as Joe Biden, I think the Romney choice is a stoke of
contrasting genius.

Biden some people have called a “gaffe-machine.” But they struggle for real explanation, for who has fathomed the dead still waters of the mare closum of the Biden mind?”

Clarice Feldman has a great piece about our “super genius” Wile E Coyote president , his continual exploding cigar moments and the desperate attempts by his toadies in the media to cover his a..

Even to the point of fabricating scandal out of whole cloth . See for example Chick-fil-A . Read the whole story .

” While the story contains tons of material defending traditional Christian teachings on sexuality, the controversial entrepreneur never talks about gay rights or gay marriage. Why? Because he wasn’t
asked about those issues in the interview.

   As the talented ElizabethScalia observes:

Read Mattingly’s whole piece, wherein he addresses the whole “well, they may not have said it but it’s what they meant, so what’s the big deal?” angle.

The big deal is simply this: the press put aside context and decided to paint this company as some radically-religious-gay-hating-entity and then let the forces of anger, hate and spite have their way with it.

The truth is, one can be a Christian and still be sympathetic to some parts of the so-called “gay agenda” without signing on
in toto. One can disagree on the issue of gay marriage – based on scripture, or thousands of years of tradition, or on natural law  without actually hating
anyone.

But the right to principled opposition is being erased, quickly, and the press is doing all it can to help erase it. We are losing the
right to say, “I don’t think the same way you do; my opinions are different.”

That matters, a lot.

This is our mainstream press – the people charged with the public trust – and it has moved beyond advocacy and into “search
and destroy” mode.[/quote]

Bear in mind that not only did the company’s CEO never discuss gay marriage with the reporter, but also there’s never been even a
suggestion that the company-known for its fine product, excellent service and outstanding
community welfare efforts and employee relations-has discriminated in any way against
gays. “

The Man Behind the Mask

Matthew Continetti on Barack’s self-destruction

“One cannot help noticing the struggle between Barack Obama’s natural instincts and the serene and benevolent persona he projects to the world. Beneath the visage of a cosmetically populist, post-racial, post-partisan reformer who wants to “perfect” America and to have “millionaires and billionaires” “pay their fair share” is just another condescending, self-important, sarcastic, academic liberal Democrat, who believes in false consciousness and in scholastic theories that success in life can be attributed to birth or luck or community but not to individual effort and grit. Obama may be talented at self-fashioning, but he cannot maintain his public face constantly. The mask sometimes slips.

The real Obama emerges. He lets loose in the self-consciously ironic and pretentiously omniscient argot of the American ruling class, lecturing audiences in what he, Elizabeth Warren, and the segment producers at MSNBC treat as the new catechism.”

We haven’t had a visit Uncle Joe  since Barack and staff pushed him into the closet so when we saw this “best of” collection we thought it was perfect for a bit of  Friday humor .

Enjoy our Veep and all his wisdom .

Clarice Feldman offers up a link-filled , detail-rich post examining
Wile E Coyote’s penchant for gaffe making when released from Telecaptivity and the MSM’s endless efforts at damage control that she dubs ” Boston Globing” .

   A very thoughtful read …

“Never mind either that Obama regularly steps in it when he leaves the prepared script. Ace of Spades reminds of other times Obama has
stepped in it:

For such a supposedly fantastic speaker, it’s sure hard to bring to mind any outstanding Obama quotes. I remember nothing from his big post-racial race.speech, his inaugural, his state of the union addresses. What I remember is
when he goes off teleprompter.

“Why can’t I just eat my waffle?”

“I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.”

“The private sector is doing fine.”

“At a certain point, you’ve made enough money.”

“The Cambridge police acted stupidly.”

“I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like
Special Olympics, or something.”

“They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them.”

“We’re the country that built the
Intercontinental Railroad.”

“I think when you spread the wealth
around, it’s good for everybody.”

“You didn’t build that.” “

Here is a thorough list of Wile E Obama’s screwups complete with links . Well worth bookmarking and refering to again and again .

This team and it’s abilities have been drastically over-rated . As usual the press and dems write their own version of the facts and hope the sheeple go for it . Which of course they did in a big way in November of 2008 .

“We are rapidly approaching the
moment at which Washington
reevaluates the Obama campaign’s
reputation for competence and
expertise.

Every week, one or several of Obama’s surrogates trip over their own words; every day, Jim Messina and David Plouffe and David Axelrod must scratch their heads in wonder at the mess they are creating.

One gaffe is an isolated event. Two is an embarrassment. But three or more form a pattern, one that is damaging not only Obama’s precarious chances for reelection but also the fortunes of the Democratic Party.”

Jennifer Rubin: Ten ways you know the Bain attack is bombing

“Unless you’ve really drunk the Kool-Aid, you probably have the idea that the President Obama’s campaign has misfired on the Bain attack. How can you tell? Well:

1. Democratic critics of the Bain attack are piling up.

2. Politico, the ultimate home team paper (root for those to whom you want access), has gone pro-Romney, big time. (h/t David Freddoso)

3. Chris Matthews is having a meltdown.”

Be sure and check out the rest .

This is just priceless . The most comprehensive collection of Obamafarts assembled in on place . You just have to see this to believe it . Brought to you through the kindness of Pundit Press . It is a very strong refutation of the bootlick media’s pervasive meme regarding Wile E.’s ” Coolness ” .

“Waldman then spends more time explaining that that isn’t what he meant, that what he meant was that Obama is so cool and calm and collected.

Here is where things get good and hilarious.

Waldman then links to an article that he wrote almost two years ago stating that Obama is hard to parody because of this coolness.

Yes, really.

Obama. Hard to parody.

Let me repeat that: Waldman believes that Obama is hard to parody.

The same guy who bowed to a Saudi king…

and a Japanese emperor

and a Chinese President

and an American governor…

and an American mayor…

and with pesky umbrellas…

This is just a sample . I bet you didn’t realize exactly how many , gaffes , flubs , blunders and faux pas this man has generated . There are undoubtedly more to be added to the list but the point is made . Mr Obama is perhaps the most easily ridiculed politician ever to grace the American stage . I’m even starting to think he can out Biden old Joe himself .
