Probe As Wind Turbine Collapse

” A major investigation has been launched after an 80-metre wind turbine worth £2m collapsed on a mountainside.

No-one was injured when the giant structure worth about £2 million unexpectedly buckled and hit the ground, scattering debris across a wide area of mountainside in Northern Ireland.

It was one of eight turbines on the Screggagh wind farm located between Fintona and Fivemiletown in rural Co Tyrone.

Doreen Walker, director of the operation, said officials were “working closely” with turbine supplier Nordex UK to establish the cause of the collapse.

” The Screggagh wind farm has been completely shut down since the wind turbine collapsed on Friday evening,” she said.

” It will remain shut down until Nordex UK Ltd has completed a full investigation in to the remaining seven wind turbines and confirms that they are safe to operate.”

It is understood the rotor blades spun out of control and the sound of the mechanical structure crashing to the ground could be heard up to seven miles away. Some people compared it to an explosion while others claimed to have heard the sound of grinding metal throughout the day.”

Green Menace: Wind Turbines Deemed A ‘Human Health Hazard’

” For years, President Obama has exploited public concern over “climate change” in order to wage a brutal campaign of genocide against our nation’s birds. Wind turbines have been turned into highly efficient killing machines, mowing down bald eagles in grisly fashion, dozens at a time. A new finding by science suggests that humans may be next.

Health officials in Brown County, Wisconsin have declared a local industrial wind farm to be a “human health hazard,” following a four-year investigation in health complaints from area residents.

Jay Tibbetts, a physician and a member of the Brown County Board of Health, said the board did not come to its decision lightly. “We have 80 people on record who have made health complaints, including a nurse who is going deaf,” Tibbets said. “We can’t just ignore this.”

The Brown County health code defines a human health hazard as “a substance, activity or condition that is known to have the potential to cause acute or chronic illness or death if exposure to the substance, activity or condition is not abated.” [emphasis added]

The ruling is bad news for Duke Energy, the company that owns and operates the wind farm. Not surprisingly, Duke Energy has close ties to the Obama administration and the Democratic Party. In 2012, the company provided a $10 million loan to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, which was never repaid. “

How Unheralded Wood Stoves Could Save The World

” Imagine two homeowners: One is a wealthy investor building a vacation house near Lake Tahoe in California. The other owns a middle-class home outside Burlington, Vt. Both are interested in keeping their energy costs under control—and helping the environment while they’re at it. The owner of the Tahoe ski palace installs an expensive solar-energy system to power his lights and appliances, covering his roof with photovoltaic panels. (He uses natural gas for heat.) The Vermonter invests in a clean-burning wood-pellet stove, cutting his consumption of heating oil by about 80 percent.

Our Tahoe homeowner enjoys the virtuous glow of being seen as an alternative-energy pioneer. He also enjoys something else: Under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, he is entitled to a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the cost of his system, including installation. Let’s say Mr. Tahoe installed a 6-kilowatt PV system at a cost of about $23,000. His federal tax credit works out to nearly $7000, and the state of California kicks in additional incentives.

Our Vermont homeowner isn’t so lucky. The IRS offers only a 10 percent credit on biomass heating systems like his stove. The credit doesn’t include installation costs, and the total is capped at $300. That’s a grudging level of support—yet the pellet stove may be doing more than the solar array to help the environment

The systems are tough to compare: It’s electricity versus heat, and removing reliance on a distant power plant rather than an oil burner in the basement. But to get a rough idea, we can calculate the energy savings from both systems using British thermal units, or Btu. The Vermont homeowner’s system saves about 575 gallons of oil yearly, which is the equivalent of 79 million Btu. The Tahoe system might produce close to 9000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year—about 30 million Btu.”

OBAMA SPENT $11.45 MILLION PER ‘GREEN JOB’ CREATED

” In 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama promised to create 5 million “green jobs” if elected president. However, an analysis by the Institute for Energy Research (IER) finds that since 2009, the Department of Energy’s (DOE) $26 billion loan program created just 2,298 permanent jobs, at a cost of $11.45 million per job created.

In his New York Times bestselling book Throw Them All Out, Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer revealed that 80% of Department of Energy loans went to companies owned by or connected to President Barack Obama’s top campaign fundraisers.”

LG Chem Michigan Has Little To Show After Spending Most Of $150M Federal Grant

” LG Chem Michigan, which received a $150-million federal grant in 2009 and more than $175 million in state and local tax relief, has not sold any battery cells to automakers, but has paid more than $1.6 million to workers who volunteered for animal shelters and charitable groups and watched movies and played video games or cards, according to a report an inspector general for the U.S. Department of Energy released today.

“We found that work performed under the grant to LG Chem Michigan had not been managed effectively,” wrote Gregory Friedman, the DOE inspector general. “Our review revealed that LG Chem Michigan inappropriately claimed and was reimbursed for labor charges incurred by a variety of supervisory and staff employees for activities that did not benefit the project.”

The department reimbursed the company for questionable labor costs incurred in the third quarter of 2012, but Friedman was unable to calculate the exact loss to the government because LG Chem Michigan did not track labor activities in detail.”

When it comes to scams , the most pertinent question to ask is ” Who Benefited ? ”

Over a hundred million taxpayer dollars and no batteries yet ?

” Other findings included that:

• The plant has not yet made battery cells that could be used in electric vehicles sold to the public.

• Only about 60% of the capacity agreed to when the grant was received was constructed, even though nearly $142 million of $151 million of the Energy Department’s share of the project’s funding had been spent.

• LG Chem Michigan officials estimated that the government would need to spend $22 million more to complete the five production lines called for in the agreement, an amount that would significantly exceed the remaining funds available.

• LG Chem Michigan had significantly underestimated labor costs.

• Documentation to support the grant indicated that production of battery cells would transition from LG Chem’s South Korean facility to the Michigan plant beginning in 2012, but that didn’t happen.

• Fewer than half of the 440 expected jobs had been created to support the project.”

Progressive Agenda Favors Green Energy Over Wildlife

” This must be a textbook example of cognitive dissonance, that is when diametrically-opposed ideas coexist in the same mind. To wit, self-described Progressives cherish birds and green energy, yet wind turbines kill nearly a half-million avian souls each year.”

Two More Stimulus-Backed Solar Companies Announce Layoffs

” A pair of foreign-owned solar companies that benefited from a combined $84 million in Energy Department tax credits have announced they will lay off employees.

One of the companies, German-owned SolarWorld, was integral in the fight for tariffs against the importation of Chinese photovoltaic solar panels. The other, Chinese company SunTech, blamed those tariffs for its own layoffs.

Both companies benefited from the Energy Department’s stimulus-funded Advanced Energy Manufacturing (48C) Tax Credit. The 48C credit is worth up to 30% of the cost of manufacturing qualifying green energy projects.

SolarWorld received a credit worth $82 million, while SunTech’s was worth $2.1 million.

Both companies announced this week that they will shed some employees. SolarWorld, which announced a 47% revenue decline in the third quarter, blamed a potential 37 layoffs at its Oregon plant on “illegal” Chinese trade practices.”

Stimulus-Funded $300 Million Chevy Volt Battery Factory Has Never Shipped A Battery

” “Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive.” That’s what the Democrats keep telling us. Sure, their jingoism came back to bite them in Benghazi, but at least the GM part is still true.

Oh, wait.
Workers at LG Chem, a $300 million lithium-ion battery plant heavily funded by taxpayers, tell Target 8 that they have so little work to do that they spend hours playing cards and board games, reading magazines or watching movies…

” Emails obtained by the Washington Times …

seem to contradict the Obama administration’s claims that its loans.to solar companies are apolitical. Executives at BrightSource, a solar energy company, touted the company’s political influence in obtaining a $1.6 billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy—the same program exploited by the now-bankrupt Solyndra.

“We have a lot of force gearing up to leaverage [sic] them now, including the WH and VP office [Sen. Harry] Reid and [Sen. Dianne]
Feinstein, and Gov. [Jerry] Brown” of California, reads an early March 2011 email from Arthur Haubenstock, the company’s vice president of regulatory affairs.”

” In July 2010 Barack Obama visited Holland, Mi for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the LG Chem Compact Power plant.

Obama blew $150 million on this green venture.

Well it looks like another it was another brilliant decision.
The workers at the Compact Power plant have been placed on rotating furloughs, working only three weeks per month.
FOX News reported:

President Obama touted it in 2010 as evidence “manufacturing jobs are coming back to the United States,” but two years later, a Michigan hybrid battery plant built with $150 million in taxpayer funds is putting workers on furlough before a single battery has been produced.

Workers at the Compact Power manufacturing facilities in Holland, Mich., run by LG Chem, have been placed on rotating furloughs, working only three weeks per month based on lack of demand for lithium-ion cells

The facility, which was opened in July 2010 with a groundbreaking attended by Obama, has yet to produce a single battery for the Chevrolet Volt, the troubled electric car from General Motors. The plant’s batteries also were intended to be used in Ford’s electric Focus.

Production of the taxpayer-subsidized Volt has been plagued by work stoppages, and the effect has trickled down to companies and plants that build parts for it — including the batteries.

“Considering the lack of demand for electric vehicles, despite billions of dollars from the Obama administration that were supposed to stimulate it, it’s not surprising what has happened with LG Chem. Just because a ton of money is poured into a product does not mean that people will buy it,” Paul Chesser, an associate fellow with the National Legal and Policy Center, told FoxNews.com.

The 650,000-square-foot, $300 million facility was slated to produce 15,000 batteries per year, while creating hundreds of new jobs. But to date, only 200 workers are employed at the plant by by the South Korean company. Batteries for the Chevy Volts that have been produced have been made by an LG plant in South Korea ”

“Making batteries for electric cars is a dirty process, and if the electric cars are run off a grid which is primarily powered by coal, as it is in China, the environmental benefits completely disappear.

Of course, this is not the only example of green policy being counterproductive. Ethanol is another case of expensive green reform that actually makes things worse. This movement just isn’t ready for primetime.”

100 Percent FED Up

“Wind Turbine Plant Obama Cheered in 2010 Lays Off Two-Thirds of Workforce.
Obama visited the Siemens wind turbine blade plant in Fort Madison, Iowa in April 2010 and praised the plant as a green energy success story saying, “Investments in clean energy technologies can help return jobs to the country’s heartland.”
Another bust as Siemens Energy Inc. announced today that it will lay off around two thirds of the workforce at its facility in Ft. Madison.

” President Obama’s Top 9 Biggest Lies”

“President Obama brazenly accused the Republicans of being liars, so it’s only fair game to look at the president’s own monumental
record of “fibs.”This list of Obama’s top ten biggest lies is by no means exhaustive.

An explanatory note is in order. A lie is something said to deliberately mislead people or is otherwise a broken promise that one could
honor. One of the reasons it has been deemed politically incorrect to call someone a “liar” is because the government and the mainstream media want to do it constantly without being called on it.”

ViaMeadia reports on yet another of the near daily reports of massive corruption in the “Green Energy” – AGW campaign .

” Behold a green failure so colossal even ViaMeadia is surprised: a UN carbon-credit trading program intended to reduce global
concentrations of greenhouse gases has instead led a handful of factories in the developing world to massively increase them. ”

” The carbon credits represent such a lucrative business ($20–40 million per year per plant, by
one estimate) that some of the plants participating the scheme, located mostly in China and India, made the bulk of their profits from carbon credits alone; other plants would hit their carbon-credit subsidy limits and then shut down for the rest of the year. “

BIOFUELS BOONDOGGLE: AIR FORCE PAYS $59 A GALLON

Pentagon used to pay $2 a gallon for jet fuel – Obama donors benefit”

” The Pentagon pays less than two dollars a gallon for jet fuel.

Under President Obama’s half a billion dollar ‘green energy’ initiative for the military the Navy spent $26 a gallon for biofuel made from algae.

Think that’s expensive? That’s nothing. The Air Force recently spent $59 a gallon for biofuel made from sugar. “

No surprises here for those of us who have been paying attention . Just confirmation of what we’ve known all along .

“TAMPA — More than 3 1/2 years after the president’s celebrated signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act , the program
remains a hot target for critics, who
view the billions in federal spending as ripe for waste, fraud and abuse.

And now, a new report is confirming that very fact, demonstrating how Florida played host to multiple tales of inefficient, unaccountable and, in some cases, lost stimulus dollars — millions
and counting. “

The Green Graveyard of Taxpayer-Funded Failures

” Solar-cell manufacturer Solyndra became a household name when it collapsed, taking $627 million in American taxpayer dollars with it. It’s the poster company for the government picking winners and losers—or really, just losers—in the energy market. But there are 12 more “green energy” losers that have declared bankruptcy despite attempts to prop them up with taxpayer money—and the list is growing.

There’s a reason why these companies could not rely solely on private financing and needed help from the government. They couldn’t make it on their own; they couldn’t even make it with extra taxpayer help “

He’s as adept at investing as he is at job creation .

More ” Green Graft ”

It’s getting to be a regular news item , even if the MSM doesn’t see fit to inform their few remaining viewers . Just another day of taxpayer funded “green” subsidies flushed down the rat hole

” It won’t be the first, if so … and probably not the last, either.  Battery maker A123 got more than $250 million in taxpayer subsidies from Barack Obama’s green-tech stimulus, specifically to produce a robust amount of product for Obama’s promised explosion of electric vehicles.  Unfortunately, the only thing exploding are A123′s losses.  CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson reports that the company’s latest SEC filings admit “substantial doubt” about A123′s future — even while it spends the remaining $100 million in taxpayer-guaranteed funds (via The Right Scoop):”

We have no problem with convicts being made to work … for the public . That is not what this is about though . Read on and see how Obama and his ” Green Energy ” pipe dream has led to wholesale corruption and crony capitalism on a scale never seen before .

“The Obama administration is using prison labor to advance its green energy agenda, enriching foreign companies and some of the president’s largest campaign donors in the process.”

If it was just a matter of saving the taxpayers money we would be behind it 100% but as is always the case with this administration it is all about their own survival and profit .

” UNICOR typically partners with private companies to install the panels and help the agencies put in place other energy-saving measures. Major beneficiaries of this system include Constellation Energy, which was recently acquired by the Exelon Corporation, a Chicago-based utility provider with deep ties to the Obama administration.”

Guess who has profited handsomely from Exelon Corporation. You guessed it .

” Exelon employees, including a number of current and former top executives, have donated at least $246,000 to Obama since 2007, including at least $83,000 this cycle.”

Renewable Fuels Scam # ??

More of our hard earned money flushed away in Obama’s Greening of the world . Just motre of the same in the era of ” Hope & Change ” .

“A Maryland man faces trial in a $9.1 million fraud case that is shedding light on problems in a renewable energy credits program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Federal prosecutors accuse Rodney Hailey of Perry Hall of selling renewable fuel credits even though his company, Clean Green Fuel LLC, did not produce any renewable fuel. Instead, prosecutors say he pocketed the money and bought Ferraris and other luxury cars, as well as tractor-trailers, homes, jewelry and computers…”

The only thing “green” about Obama’s alternative energy policy is the cash that lines the pockets of his crony-capitalist bundlers .
” “Blue-collar voters were never that sold on environmental issues, and if some Democrats come across as not keen on economic development, it could lose them support here in Ohio,” he said.

Republicans, from Mitt Romney, the party’s presidential candidate, to the congressional leadership, have madeBarack Obama’s alleged stifling of the energy industry a centrepiece of their campaigns this year. . . .

Mr Romney has said he will approve the Keystone XL pipeline as soon as he wins office and curb the powers of the Environmental Protection Agency.

“Only time will tell whether this is a winning strategy, but there is reason to think it could work. As we’ve mentioned before, energy politics is an area where Obama is particularly vulnerable. His decision to nix the popular Keystone pipeline earlier this year signaled antipathy toward one of America’s strongest industries while doing nothing to help the environment; it was lambasted as a pointless blunder by observers on both sides of the aisle.” “
