President Obama Bans Importation of Kalashnikov & Izhmash Firearms

” The U.S. Treasury Department has added the Kalashnikov Concern to its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list of specially designated nationals (SDN), effectively ceasing importation of Kalashnikov Concern Products to the U.S. The SDN is a list of foreign individuals, groups and entities with whom U.S. persons are generally prohibited from conducting business.

The addition of Kalashnikov Concern to the SDN list is part of a larger effort established by Executive Order (E.O.) 13662 to place Ukraine-related sanctions on specified sectors of the Russian economy. The Treasury Department announced the changes to the list, which includes a number of other Russian businesses and organizations, on their website.”

ISIS Declares All Guns In Iraq Illegal…Except Those Used By ISIS

” It’s the holy grail of gun control, as demanded by Michael Bloomberg and his minions as well as Dianne Feinstein and her associates in Congress: a total ban on firearms, other than those used by the government. And what government is embracing this “progressive” stance on ‘dangerous weapons, you might ask? The Al-Qaeda associated group known as ISIS has just made that declaration for all land under its control in Iraq . . .

From The Telegraph:

The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham has set out a list of rules for residents of Mosul as it seeks to impose its Islamist rules on Iraq’s second city.

[…]

No public gathering other than those organised by ISIS will be allowed at any stage. No guns will be allowed outside of its ranks.

It has been said many times that power grows out of the barrel of a gun, and it looks like ISIS is embracing that idea.

The impetus behind this move is pretty clear: ISIS wants a monopoly on power so they can force those living in areas under their control to follow their rather extreme version of Islam and nothing else. If all guns are illegal, then there would be no way for citizens to resist the impending approach of death squads and morality police.

It’s about power and control, not “safety.”

Colorado Gun Laws Argued In Federal Court

judge.marcia.krieger

U.S. District Judge Marcia Krieger

” Colorado’s new gun restrictions went on trial Monday as Second Amendment advocates seek to overturn the laws on grounds that they violate constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.

An attorney for the state defended the ammunition magazine limits and expanded background checks, saying the measures were a suitable response to high-profile shooting rampages.

In his opening statement, Deputy Attorney General Matthew Grove noted Colorado’s tortured history with mass shootings, from the Columbine High School attack in 1999 to the Aurora movie theater massacre in 2012. He also mentioned the shooting spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut in 2012.

Responding to such events last year, “Colorado’s elected representatives made a policy decision to pass two pieces of legislation that appropriately balances the state public’s safety concerns with the respect of the Second Amendment rights of citizens,” Grove said.

Attorney Richard Westfall, representing gun rights advocates, countered by saying the laws “were passed with almost no evidence or data” that they would make people safer, and he criticized lawmakers as trying “to legislate for the sake of legislating in the wake of the Aurora theater shooting.”

The arguments in Denver federal court kicked off a two-week trial on an issue that’s been among Colorado’s most politically contentious in recent memory.”

NJ Officials Couldn’t Have Been Prepared For What 9-Year-Old Competition Shooter Had To Say About Proposed Gun Control Bill

” Speaking before the New Jersey Law and Public Safety Committee in Trenton, N.J., on Thursday, 9-year-old competition shooter Shyanne Roberts spoke in opposition to a proposed bill that would further limit magazine capacity to 10 rounds.

In her speech, which earned thunderous applause from the audience, she presented the simplicity and common sense nature of the pro-gun argument in a way only a kid can.”

“ I am not a ‘gang banger or domestic terrorist’ as a certain vocal supporter of this bill claimed two weeks ago in the Star Ledger,” Roberts said. “This bill, if it becomes law, will severely impact me and a million other gun owners.

” The 9-year-old girl explained that she is a 4th-grade honor roll student and competitive shooter in multiple styles with numerous local, state and national sponsors.”

“ I have worked and trained very hard to get to the level I am at and if A2006 becomes law, I will be forced to choose between giving up on a very great and promising future in a sport that I love or asking my dad to move to another state. I will not be giving up my sport.”

She said many of the firearms she hopes to use in the next level of her young competitive shooting career will be made “illegal” if the proposed gun control bill, known as A2006, becomes law.”

This video presents young Miss Roberts in action …

If you like what Shyanne has to say and what she stands for you may want to visit her Facebook page and give her a like or perhaps help fund her shooting competition , we all know how expensive that can get , by purchasing a T-shirt .

Sadly , the original goal with the sale of the T-shirts was not met and so production was not initiated but we have included the link anyway as we have a feeling that after this young lady’s stellar performance in front of the pols gets recognized , that business will soon be booming .

The Blaze has more on Shyanne’s knock-em dead speaking performance as does NorthJersey.com including much more biographical information on the young champion :

” Shyanne and her father, who live in Gloucester County, came to Trenton to speak against a bill that would limit the magazine capacity of firearms to 10 rounds, down from the current 15-round maximum. They and other opponents of the measure said legislation should target criminals without affecting legal gun owners. Similar arguments were made against several other gun-control bills the Legislature passed last year, most of which were ultimately vetoed by Governor Christie.

The bill passed the committee along party lines, 5-3, after more than three hours of testimony.

Shyanne, who has won several national sponsorships, has placed highly in several shooting competitions, including a second-place finish at the New Jersey State Ruger Rimfire Challenge. Her father said she entertains hopes of someday competing in the Olympics. “

Smith & Wesson To Stop Selling Guns In California Due To Microstamping Law

https://i1.wp.com/cdn.breitbart.com/mediaserver/Breitbart/Big-Government/2014/01/18/Smith-and-Wesson-Gun-Show-AP.png

” Smith & Wesson announced it will stop selling its handguns in California rather than manufacture them to comply with the new micro-stamping law. The other publicly traded firearms manufacturer in the U.S., Sturm, Ruger, also said this month that it will stop new sales to California.

The announcement late Wednesday came a week after the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for firearms manufacturers, filed suit against California for requiring that all new semi-automatic pistols that are not already on the state’s approved gun roster have the micro-stamping technology.

Smith & Wesson President and CEO James Debney said, “As our products fall off the roster due to California’s interpretation of the Unsafe Handgun Act, we will continue to work with the NRA and the NSSF to oppose this poorly conceived law which mandates the unproven and unreliable concept of micro-stamping and makes it impossible for Californians to have access to the best products with the latest innovations.” “

Sanford Police Chief Flips On Gun Ban For Neighborhood Watch

” The police chief in the town where George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin has reneged on a plan to ban volunteers from carrying guns while participating in the neighborhood watch program.

Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith was expected to announce the ban on guns at a community meeting Tuesday night, but said instead that the police department will merely urge volunteers to remain unarmed, rather than requiring it.

“We’re recommending that no one is armed,” Smith said Tuesday, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “If you choose to have a firearm, that’s your right.

But last week, Sanford Police Department Spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly told NBC News that volunteers would be banned from carrying firearms while participating in the neighborhood watch program.

Guns rights groups were critical of that announcement.

“If they’re licensed to carry, they’re licensed to carry, and that should not be restricted,” Carrie Lightfoot, founder of the Well Armed Woman, said of the rule according to a report from NBC’s WESH, which also noted that at least one local gun rights advocate was pleased to learn the ban was off the table. “

Kerry To Sign UN Arms Treaty, Despite Senators’ Opposition

” Secretary of State John Kerry plans to sign a controversial U.N. treaty on arms regulation on Wednesday, a senior State Department official told Fox News — despite warnings from lawmakers that the Senate will not ratify the agreement.

A State official said the treaty would “reduce the risk that international transfers of conventional arms will be used to carry out the world’s worst crimes,” while protecting gun rights.

“The treaty builds on decades of cooperative efforts to stem the international, illegal, and illicit trade in conventional weapons that benefits terrorists and rogue agents,” the official said.

U.S. lawmakers, though, have long claimed that the treaty could lead to new gun control measures. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., one of the most vocal opponents of the treaty, sent a letter to Kerry declaring it “dead in the water,” since a majority of senators has gone on record against the agreement.”

Honor Martin – Ban Guns!

image

” Our gun grabber in chief spoke this weekend about the Zimmerman acquittal. Just as he used the Sandy Hook tragedy to immediately call for the destruction of our Constitution, he’s now calling for more gun control in the wake of the Zimmerman trial.  As surreal as it may seem, I’m not making this up.Here’s what Obama said the day after Zimmerman was found not guilty.

” We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this [Zimmerman case]. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.” “

Parade Marchers, Soldiers Banned From Carrying Rifles During Local Parade For First Time in 100+ Years

Belton_Texas

” In Belton, TX, the 4th of July parade is an event with deep and long standing traditions. Since 1850 the town has held an annual parade to celebrate Independence Day. For much of that history, Color Guards and, more recently, civil war re-enactors have marched in the parade with slung or carried rifles.

This year will be different. After the organization, Open Carry Texas, signed up (and was approved) to march in the parade with their rifles, the insurance company is now saying all guns will be disallowed – if the parade wants to keep its insurance that is.”

NRA Is Named New Promoter Of Outdoor Show In Harrisburg, Replacing Show Canceled Over Gun Ban

” The National Rifle Association has emerged as the new promoter of the area’s annual outdoors show at the Farm Show Complex, replacing the now-cancelled Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

The announcement was made at a press event Tuesday. The NRA is dubbing the event the “Great American Outdoor Show.” It’ll run Feb. 1-9, 2014.

The NRA says it aims to make the event a national show. The organization aims to offer country concerts as well.

The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show was canceled this year after its promoter, Reed Exhibitions, banned the sale or display of assault rifles and vendors threatened to boycott.

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber said the NRA’s involvement could offer an even larger economic impact than the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, which had been a decades-long tradition. The old show had an estimated impact of $88 million.”

This is a great development . As you may recall we reported on the boycott of Reed Exhibition’s PC efforts back in January . This is a match made in heaven . Good for the NRA and good for sportsmen everywhere .

As Lead Sponsor In House On Gun Legislation, Rep. Diana DeGette Appears To Not Understand How They Work

Idiot

” Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette has been the lead sponsor on a federal ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines in two Congresses, saying it’s one of her top priorities.

But Tuesday at a Denver Post forum on the gun control debate, the senior congresswoman from Denver appeared to not understand how guns work.

“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

What she didn’t appear to understand is that a magazine can be reloaded with more bullets.”

CO Governor Signs Sweeping Gun Control Bills Into Law

” According to NBC News, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has signed into law two gun control bills.

The measures also met resistance from magazine-maker Magpul Industries, which said that it would desert its plant about 30 miles from Denver if the proposed magazine limits became law.

Legislators who had opposed new laws restricting gun ownership said on Wednesday the new gun bills may have electoral consequences for state Democrats.

“We’re all in shock here,” state Senator Greg Brophy, a Republican, said on Wednesday. “It turns out this guy who everybody thought was a moderate Democrat is actually a gun-control governor.”

“I think the governor will be replaced by someone who has Colorado values instead of New York City values,” Brophy said. “If Republicans are returned to control we will repeal these bills immediately.”

were asked for our reaction, and here is what we said:

We have said all along that based on the legal problems and uncertainties in the bill, as well
as general principle, we will have no choice but to leave if the Governor signs this into law.

We will start our transition out of the state almost immediately, and we will prioritize moving magazine manufacturing operations
first. We expect the first PMAGs to be made outside CO within 30 days of the signing, with the rest to follow in phases. “

UN Prepares To Finalize Global Arms Trade Treaty: Gun Owners To Take It On The Chin?

” On Monday, in New York City, the United Nations kicked off its final round of negotiations on its comprehensive global arms trade treaty agreement.

In preparation for the talks, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed his optimism in a statement released last week that all 193 Member State will “overcome their differences and muster the political will needed to agree on this landmark treaty.”

While it’s unclear what the final draft of the ATT will look like, Ban Ki-moon said that he expects it to include regulations on both weapons and ammunition, from “small arms to tanks to combat aircraft.”

“I reiterate my support for an Arms Trade Treaty that regulates international transfers of both weapons and ammunition and provides for common standards for exporting States. These standards are important for assessing the risks that transferred weapons are not used to fuel conflict, arm criminals or abet violations of international humanitarian or human rights law,” said Ban ki-moon.

Ban Ki-moon also noted that this treaty was only the beginning, a launching pad for more expansive regulations down the road.”

VIETNAM VET BARRED FROM OWNING A GUN BECAUSE OF A TEENAGE MISDEMEANOR 45 YEARS AGO

” A 19-year-old sailor stationed in Annapolis, Md., in 1968 was arrested for getting into a fight with an alleged member of a street gang.

Now, more than four decades later, the 64-year-old U.S. Navy veteran has been stripped of his right to own a gun.

Jefferson Wayne Schrader of Cleveland, Ga., has been fighting a losing battle in the courts since 2008 to get his name off the fed’s firearm ban list.”

New Law Asks Are You “Psychologically Competent” to Own a Weapon?

” (Dr. Jerome R. Corsi) – The raging gun debate is about to enter a new phase as Congress moves this week to begin considering new legislation that would impose new restrictions on the Second Amendment. This solution proposed by negotiations between Senator Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, and Senator Charles Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma, involves expanding background checks on gun purchases, but the danger is that the criteria of psychological disqualification are so poorly defined that…

What Schumer and Coburn are attempting to do may seem innocuous.  Who would object to background checks to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals?

The problem is once the door is opened to background checks, the door is opened to the government making judgments of competency and there is where the infringement of the Second Amendment can be expanded to virtually outlaw guns.

Every adult has some incident in their background that a government bureaucrat with a prejudice against the Second Amendment could judge renders the person psychologically unfit to own a weapon.

Video Obama Backup Gun Grab UN Treaty Confiscation Vote Soon

On November 7, the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly voted 157-0 (with 18 abstentions) in favor of Resolution L.11 that will finalize the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) in March 2013.

China, the United Kingdom, and Germany all voted to move the historic measure toward passage.

As we have reported, when the treaty was being deliberated in July, the United States was the only obstacle preventing the global arms control regulations from being imposed on the world.

Miraculously, however, all the points of the agreement Secretary Clinton found so…

Civil War’s A-Brewin’

” A pretty, young, auburn-haired woman – mid-20s – drove down a lonely country road somewhere in Oklahoma. Appearing in her rearview mirror, at the back windshield, were two menacing orbs of light floating amid ashen dusk. The guttural roar of a souped-up big block shook the tiny Volkswagen Rabbit as a van-load of inbred thugs lurched left and drew alongside her. A ponytailed passenger taunted inaudibly and blew foul kisses between crude hand gestures. He pointed for her to pull over as the van repeatedly swerved dangerously close.

Inside the car a man, asleep in the reclining passenger seat, was startled awake by the commotion. He rose and darted his head about, calmly assessing the situation. This only spurred the evil-bent goons. As they ramped-up efforts to run the car off the road, the man reached in the glove box, withdrew a military-grade, semi-automatic handgun – an “assault weapon,” if you will – and, with intentionality and great theatre, leaned across his young bride, pointing the gun out the open bay and directly between dirt bag’s booze-flushed eyes.

Van vanished amid a plume of gray smoke as wheels locked, tires screeched and “assault vehicle” fishtailed – jerking to a halt with taillights aglow skyward from the ditch.

Not a shot was fired.

Back at the couple’s rural farmhouse, two boys – boys who would not be orphaned that night – played. We most likely played – my brother Pete and I – with assault rifles fashioned from sticks. I always love to hear Dad retell the story. He does it with an ornery, satisfied grin. “No one’s taking my guns,” he’ll say. “

Report: 532 Murdered In Chicago In 2012

” The website also claims that, through December 25, 2012, there 2,670 people were shot in Chicago last year. That’s also an increase from the year before, when 2,217 people were shot in Chicago that year.

In all, it means that on average almost 1.5 people were murdered in Chicago each day last year, while on average 7.3 people were shot each day.

Official numbers from the city of Chicago appear to be a tad bit lower, however. ”

So Now They Come For The Knives

British Medical Journal: Ban Long Knives

” What writer Mark Steyn has rightly called the “stupid and contemptible” public discourse on gun control in this country is getting even “stupider and contemptibler” overseas. The U.K. has once again done America a solid by providing a glimpse of the country’s Oceanic future: British medical “experts” are calling for kitchen cutlery control.

That’s right, America’s transatlantic in-laws, twice removed, have taken to contemplating a long knife ban in order to reduce the number of fatal stabbings.

A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase – and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon. The research is published in the British Medical Journal. The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all. ”

Federal Appeals Court Rules Illinois Cannot Maintain Its Flat Ban On Concealed-Carry

” There are certain constants to life in Illinois. Abraham Lincoln has always been revered. The Cubs always find a way to lose. Lake Michigan never goes dry. Letting citizens carrying concealed firearms is out of the question.

But one of those is no longer true. Tuesday, a federal appeals court said the state cannot maintain its flat ban on concealed-carry—a policy that makes it unique among the 50 states. In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to have and use a gun for self-protection. Extending the logic of that decision, the appeals court said this freedom includes the right to carry a weapon outside the home.

“A Chicagoan is a good deal more likely to be attacked on a sidewalk in a rough neighborhood than in his apartment on the 35th floor of Park Tower,” wrote Judge Richard Posner. “To confine the right to be armed to the home is to divorce the Second Amendment from the right of self-defense…” ”

US Helps Advance UN Arms Treaty

“The U.S. Mission to the United Nations helped move a controversial arms trade treaty on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after President Obama won reelection.

The Obama administration was widely blamed by treaty advocates for derailing the effort back in July when it asked for more time amid growing opposition from Republicans and pro-gun-rights Democrats who are worried the treaty would affect the sale of civilian weapons in the United States. Fifty senators — including eight Democrats — signed on to a letter at the time signaling their opposition to the treaty.

The U.S. Mission said the timing of the vote had nothing to do with the election. They said it was initially scheduled for last week but was delayed because of Hurricane Sandy.

“Our objectives for the ATT have not changed,” a Mission official told The Hill. “In particular, we seek a treaty that contributes to international security by fighting illicit arms trafficking and proliferation, protects the sovereign right of states to conduct legitimate arms trade, and meets the concerns that we have been articulating throughout.  As we have made clear, we will not accept any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of our citizens to bear arms.”
