911 Call Released In Deadly Charlotte Home Invasion

Teen Shoots Home Invader

” Police have released the 911 call made during an alleged break-in that left a teen dead and his brother in jail on Tuesday.

The incident happened at a home in the 8600 block of Rolling Fields Road, off of Whispering Falls Ave. near Fairview Rd. in southeast Charlotte.

Police say Isai Robert Delcid, 18, was shot and killed by the resident’s grandson. His brother, 22-year-old Carlos Delcid, was arrested later Tuesday night.

“ They heard some noises, saw an individual at the back of the residence trying to come into their house,” said Lt. Eric Brady of Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

The 911 call was released Wednesday. “Yeah somebody just broke in the house and we shot,” the caller tells the dispatcher. “He’s out there bleeding for God’s sake. He broke our window, he was coming in.”

The caller goes on to tell the dispatcher that another man pulled away in a gray SUV. But, she says, they are more worried about the man who is still outside the house that they believe is dead.

During the call, a young man can be heard in the background. “I said who is it and he wouldn’t stop,” the teen says. ““He broke my grandma’s window so I shot three times.” “

This isn’t the first time that this young man has been the victim of a violent crime …

”  WBTV learned the 14-year-old lost his father during a robbery-homicide in 2008.

Wyant said his son-in-law, Greg Hernandez, was shot to death at his business, Greg’s Automotive on Independence Blvd. “He had the hood open in his car,” Wyant said. “He was a mechanic. It was his garage. Somebody came in and shot him.”

Wyant’s grandson was eight years old at the time. Now, six years later, he was apparently trying to protect his grandmother and himself from intruders.”

Lakewood Police Arrest Man In Home-Invasion Where Robber Killed

Washington Home Invader Kolled

” Lakewood police have arrested a 19-year-old man they believe participated in a home-invasion robbery that left one of the suspected robbers dead.

Duprea Wilson of Seattle was charged Thursday with 12 felonies, first-degree manslaughter, robbery, kidnapping and assault among them.

Three men knocked on the door and then forced their way inside when the man, who didn’t recognize them, tried to close the door, police said. One of the intruders was armed with a knife, another with a gun.

They beat the man, who needed stitches to close a head wound, and cut his wife’s hand after dragging her out of the bathtub, court records show. The intruders then tied up the couple before searching the house for valuables, police said.

At one point the robbers went outside, and the man was able to free himself and lock the front door. He and his wife then retreated to their bedroom and locked that door as well, court records show.

The bandits broke through the front door, firing a shot as they did so, the records show. The man retrieved his own gun from a lock box and fired two shots when a pair of the bandits forced the bedroom door open, court records show.

An hour or so later in Federal Way, police were called to the scene of a dead man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Lakewood police believe that man, 19-year-old Taijon Voorhees, was one of the home invaders. “

The grandfather was also shot – but  he also managed to shoot the 2 other suspects in the home-invasion and attempted rape, said Maj. Anthony Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident started around 10 pm at a house on Yedda Road in Lumberton on Monday night when someone knocked on the home of the grandfather, his wife and their 19-year-old granddaughter, according to the sheriff’s office.

LI Man Facing Manslaughter Charge For Shooting, Killing Alleged Armed Burglar

New York Sucks … Self-Defense

” Family members have been arguing that it was a clear case of self-defense when a Huntington Station man shot and killed an alleged home burglar.

But Youssef Abdel-Gawad has been charged with manslaughter, even though he said he was only trying to protect his family, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported Tuesday.

The family hopes surveillance video will clear their son, CBS 2’s Jennifer McLogan reported.

“ It’s a sad situation,” said the defendant’s brother, Ramy Abdel-Gawad. “Video will show, you know, he was doing what anybody would do to protect his family.”

The Abdel-Gawads’ own surveillance cameras were rolling at the home, according to police, at the time of the incident back on Aug. 21 of last year.”

We assume that because the suspects were put to flight before the fatal shot that the LI police are maintaining that the danger was past and thus the situation did not merit the discharge of the shotgun . Ok . But if that be the case then shouldn’t all police be suspect whenever they shoot a fleeing suspect ?

According to the report , the DA doubts that the perp fired a shot but isn’t the presence of the gun reason enough for an act of self-defense ? Since when do the thugs have a right to the first shot for free ?

When we were younger there was a policy (unwritten or official ?) that police could only shoot in self-defense or in the face of imminent peril for others . That no longer seems to be the case as we read all the time of cops shooting at perps in flight . If it’s ok for them then why not for civilians defending their homes and families ?

Apparently the Supreme Court’s Tennessee v Gardner ruling in 1985 cleared the way for cops to shoot people in the back if the had committed a felony and if that is the justification for law enforcement , surely the civilian populace should be afforded the same rights , no ?

Home Invasion Suspect Dies Of Gunshot Wound

Home Invader Killed

” One man was killed and another shot in the leg when they, along with three others, allegedly participated in a home invasion Monday evening where the residents fought back.

Police said Tuesday that it is still a bit unclear what prompted the five individuals, ages 19 to 23, to force their way into the Victoria Avenue home while brandishing a fake plastic gun.

Fairborn Police Sgt. Paul Hicks said the only motive they’ve uncovered was that the subjects intended to rob the home.

Two Wright State University students who live at 1006 Victoria Ave. were home when the intruders entered.

Trent Seitz, 21, reportedly struggled with the men and was ordered to the floor. He called out for his roommate, Christopher Muse, who told police that he grabbed a gun and fired at the men.

Ta’Vaun Fambrough, 19, was shot in the chest.”
