Shock Poll: Americans Trust IRS, NSA More Than Facebook

IRS Trust

” A new Reason-Rupe poll to be launched Thursday morning indicates that 35% of Americans trust the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with their personal data, while only 10% trust Google and only 5% trust Facebook. In fact, while trust in the IRS is low, the tax collection agency remains the most trusted in America, even after a scandal in which the IRS targeted conservative nonprofit groups and leaked confidential tax information.”

You have to admit that if the IRS and NSA are more trusted than you , you’ve done something wrong . Breitbart has the story

Cyber Monday Sting Operation: International Strikeforce Seizes 706 Counterfeit Websites In Undercover Crackdown

” An international strike force formed by 11 law enforcement agencies seized and shut down 706 websites on Cyber Monday that were accused of selling counterfeit merchandise. It’s the sting operation’s fourth year, showing that governments have made “Project Cyber Monday” as much of an annual tradition as retailers have Cyber Monday itself.”

Now this is a government action that fits with their job description , protecting the public from force or fraud . This is where tax dollars are supposed to go , not to Obamaphones , contraceptives and electric cars . We do have one caveat though , as much as we want the protection against fraud we are leery of the State’s right to SEIZE private property … shutting down criminal enterprises yes please , seizing properties , not so much . It’s a fine line to tread and the government boot is seldom subtle enough for the high wire .

No Security Ever Built Into Obamacare Site: Hacker

HEALTHCARE.GOV Security

” It could take a year to secure the risk of “high exposures” of personal information on the federal Obamacare online exchange, a cybersecurity expert told CNBC on Monday.

” When you develop a website, you develop it with security in mind. And it doesn’t appear to have happened this time,” said David Kennedy, a so-called “white hat” hacker who tests online security by breaching websites. He testified on Capitol Hill about the flaws of HealthCare.gov last week.

” It’s really hard to go back and fix the security around it because security wasn’t built into it,” said Kennedy, chief executive of TrustedSec. “We’re talking multiple months to over a year to at least address some of the critical-to-high exposures on the website itself.”

The most interesting quote from the security expert in the video reveals that because HealthCare.gov is a Federal program if your personal information is compromised the government has NO OBLIGATION to inform you of that fact . Think about that before you sign up with the help of that convicted felon Navigator from ACORN .

WARNING: YOUR DOCTOR CAN’T PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY OR YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS

” There is a growing concern by Americans that their personal and private information is being collected and shared without their knowledge and consent.

Recent scandals about government spying on individuals pales in comparison to the revelation that HealthCare.gov was recently hacked. Cyber security experts are warning about efforts by foreign governments, such as Russia and China, to compromise medical databases. But this is just the tip of the iceberg according to Florida doctors.

As health records are digitized they become more sharable and more vulnerable to privacy violations.

The more individual information is placed on large centralized databases the more that information may be accessed, without the knowledge and consent of  the individual. Doctors in Florida are raising privacy concerns as they fully implement the “electronic health record” (EHR) mandate for their patient’s records. Doctors worry about their loss of control over their patients’ records and their ability to limit those who access them. They worry about the growing the risks and liability of a privacy violation.”

As if this invasion of privacy isn’t enough what with all manner of government bureaucrats and potential identity thieves accessing your personal medical records , we are now hearing rumblings of a requirement in Obamacare that mandates the creation of a digital list of all that enroll in Obamacare with the sole purpose of being used as a political mailing list .

Anyone that continues to believe that the State only has their best interests at heart is delusional and shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

John McAfee on Obamacare: ‘This Is A Hacker’s Wet Dream’

” On Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto” on Wednesday, computer programmer and founder of McAfee, Inc. John McAfee said the online component of Obamacare “is a hacker’s wet dream” that will cause “the loss of income for the millions of Americans who are going to lose their identities.”

For starters, McAfee said the way it is set up makes it possible for fake websites be set up to fool people to think they’re signing up for Obamacare.

“It’s seriously bad,” McAfee said. “Somebody made a grave error, not in designing the program but in simply implementing the web aspect of it. I mean, for example, anybody can put up a web page and claim to be a broker for this system. There is no central place where I can go and say, ‘OK, here are all the legitimate brokers , the examiners for all of the states and pick and choose one.’” “

Obamacare Marketplaces Raise Data Security Concerns

” Minnesota insurance broker Jim Koester was looking for information about assisting with Obamacare implementation; instead, what landed in his inbox last month was a document filled with the names, Social Security numbers and other pieces of personal information belonging to his fellow Minnesotans.

In one of the first breaches of the new Obamacare online marketplaces, an employee of the Minnesota marketplace, called MNsure, accidentally emailed Koester a document containing personally identifying information for more than 2,400 insurance agents, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported. MNsure was able to quickly undo the damage because Koester cooperated with them, but the incident left him unnerved.

The more I thought about it, the more troubled I was,” Koester told the newspaper. “What if this had fallen into the wrong hands? It’s scary. If this is happening now, how can clients of MNsure be confident their data is safe?”

Online marketplaces like MNsure, called exchanges, are now running in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as part of the changes established under the Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment began on Tuesday, and as many as 7 million people are expected to sign up for private insurance plans on the exchanges in the next six months. Personal information for all of those customers will be routed from a federal datahub to the state-based exchanges, leaving people like Koester, and some health data experts, concerned about the program’s security.”

States Raise Privacy Concerns Over Health Law Navigators (video)

“Because of time constraints, HHS [is] cutting back on the requirement to become a navigator, meaning they’re not going to be doing background checks. They’re not going to be fingerprinting these people,” said Bondi in an interview with Fox.

“And it’s more than navigators. It’s people that assist the navigators. Now, these navigators will have our consumers throughout the country’s most personal and private information — tax return information, Social Security information. And our biggest fear, of course, is identity theft.”

A navigator is a federal employee who helps those wanting to get insured navigate the paperwork of the new healthcare system.”
