Mumbai Student Pradnya Mandhare Drags Sex Attacker To Police Station By The Hair As Crowd Does Nothing

” When a would-be rapist attacked uni student Pradnya Mandhare at a crowded Mumbai train station at two-thirty in the afternoon, nobody came to her aid.

Instead, her fellow commuters (up to 50 of them, both men and women) “merely stood by and gawked” as her drunken, drug-affected assailant grabbed at her body. To be fair to the bystanders, this was India and a common enough sight. Nobody was seriously expected to do anything but watch — let alone intervene.”

” President Obama, speaking to an audience of mostly young people celebrating India’s Republic Day in New Delhi on Tuesday, told the crowd, “I realise that the sight of an American president as your chief guest on Republic Day would have once seemed unimaginable.  But my visit reflects the possibilities of a new moment.” He pointed out that he was the first American president to participate in the country’s Republic Day and boasted, “And I’m the first American president to come to your country twice!”

The president went on to refer to himself an astonishing 118 times in the short 33-minute speech, touching on injustices in the United States and in his own personal life.

Obama told the enthusiastic crowd that he and Michelle have been strengthened by their Christian faith. “But there have been times where my faith has been questioned — by people who don’t know me — or they’ve said that I adhere to a different religion, as if that were somehow a bad thing,” Obama said.

He added that “too often religion has been used to tap into those darker impulses as opposed to the light of God.” He cited as an example the attack three years ago on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. The American president, who is suing Catholic nuns to force them to comply with Obamacare’s birth control mandate, told the crowd of Indian young people that “every person has the right to practice their faith how they choose, or to practice no faith at all, and to do so free of persecution and fear and discrimination.” “

Gold Biscuits Found In The Abdomen Of A Businessman

” In a bizarre case, doctors of a city hospital found 12 gold biscuits each weighing 33g inside the abdomen of a 63-year-old businessman.

The businessman had come to the hospital for surgery, stating that he had swallowed a water bottle cap and wanted to get it out of his body.

“ He approached us on April 7 seeking surgery to remove a water bottle cap which he claimed he had accidentally swallowed. We got an X-ray done and it didn’t appear to be a cap. As the gold bars got stacked one behind the other it appeared to be a metal,” said Dr C S Ramachandran, senior consulting surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram hospital.

A team of doctors operated upon him on Apr 9 to get through the abdominal cavity and remove the foreign metal. “We were shocked to find not one but 12 gold biscuits in his abdomen. When we asked him he was not ready to speak. We immediately sealed them in a container and handed it over to the medical superintendent,” said Dr Ramachandran adding that the patient was discharged on Apr 15.”

SHOCKING! Women Having Sex Should Be Hanged, Says Abu Azmi

” In a bizarre and grotesque statement, the state Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Abu Azmi said women who were raped should also be punished. The statement came after this reporter questioned Azmi about SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s comments on rape.

Yadav had, at a rally in UP, said that the death sentence, as punishment, for rape was too harsh. “Ladkon se aisi galtiyan ho jati hain, to iska matlab yeh to nahi ki unhe phaansi de di jaaye (Boys make mistakes, but this doesn’t mean you hang them),” he told the gathering. (Mulayam’s shocker on rape: ‘they are boys, they make mistakes’)

When this reporter asked for Azmi’s comments on his chief’s statements, he replied that rape was punishable by death in Islam. “Rape is punishable by hanging in Islam. But here, nothing happens to women, only to men. Even the woman is guilty.”

He further added, “In India, if you have sex with a person with consent, it’s fine. But if that same person complains, it’s a problem. Nowadays, we see a lot of such cases. Girls complain when someone touches them, and even when someone doesn’t touch them. It becomes a problem then, and the man’s honour is ruined in this. If rape happens with or without consent, it should be punished as prescribed in Islam.”

When asked for a solution to the problem of rapes, Azmi had this to say: “Solution is this: any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged. Both should be hanged. It shouldn’t be allowed even if a woman goes by consent.”

India Bats For Russia Interests

India Backs Russia

” India has said Russia holds “legitimate interests” in Ukraine, becoming the first major nation appearing to publicly lean towards Moscow at a time it is largely isolated internationally over its military intervention in the Crimean Peninsula.

India’s first official response came on a day Crimean MPs voted to secede from Ukraine and join Russia, prompting the US to activate some sanctions.

National security adviser Shivshankar Menon has said India wants the confrontation between the West and Moscow over Ukraine resolved peacefully. But he added that it also hoped that the interests of Russia and other stakeholders were taken into account.

“ We hope that whatever internal issues there are within Ukraine are settled peacefully, and the broader issues of reconciling various interests involved, and there are legitimate Russian and other interests involved…. We hope those are discussed, negotiated and that there is a satisfactory resolution to them,” Menon said today.

Menon’s reference to Russia’s “legitimate interests” sparked a sharp diplomatic response from Kiev.

“ We are not sure how Russia can be seen having legitimate interests in the territory of another country,” Roman Pyrih, the media secretary at the Ukrainian embassy in New Delhi, said. “In our view, and in the view of much of the international community, this is a direct act of aggression and we cannot accept any justification for it.”

The US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Japan — the seven G8 nations other than Russia — have criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to send troops into Ukraine’s southeastern Crimean Peninsula.”

Indian Cleaners Find 24 Gold Bars In Aircraft Toilet After Flight From Bangkok

” Aircraft cleaners in Eastern India discovered a stash of gold bars in the bathroom of a commercial aircraft worth more than $1.1 million on Tuesday.

The 24 gold bars were discovered inside two bags aboard the Jet Airways flight as it was being cleaned in Kolkata airport, said officials.

The plane that carried the 2.2lb of gold had arrived from Bangkok earlier in the evening before making stops in India.

Gold smuggling in India is on the rise after the country raised its import duty from 10 percent to 15 percent, the third time it was raised this year as the country tries to  reduce demand for precious metal. Indians traditionally hoard gold in the belief that it will bring them financial security.”

6 Daring Train Robberies

The Stories Of Some Famous Train Robberies As Told By The History Channel

” Almost as long as there have been trains, there have been train robberies. These dramatic stickups have become the stuff of legend thanks to dime novels and Hollywood westerns, but they also account some of the most fascinating—and lucrative—true crimes ever committed. From high profile capers by the likes of Jesse James and Butch Cassidy to a raid by a gang of Indian political dissidents, find out more about six of history’s most audacious rail heists.”

5. The Rondout Train Robbery
” The biggest rail heist in American history was the work of the “Newton Boys,” a band of four Texas brothers who robbed at least 60 banks and six trains during their lucrative criminal careers. The caper came on the night of June 12, 1924. Working on a tip from a crooked postal inspector, two of the Newton brothers boarded a mail train on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. After pulling guns on the engineer, the men forced the train to stop near Rondout, Illinois, where the rest of the gang waited with a small fleet of cars.

The thieves then threw bottles of noxious formaldehyde into the windows of the passenger cars, leaving the train’s 17 armed mail clerks gasping for air. When the guards surrendered, the bandits made off with several mail sacks containing a staggering $3 million in cash and bonds. The gang escaped in their cars, but in the confusion of the robbery an accomplice accidentally shot one of the Newton brothers several times. The thieves were later arrested after they tried to get medical assistance in Chicago.”

Indian High Commission Uses Old Technology For Secret Documents After Edward Snowden’s NSA Revelations

” The Indian diplomatic mission in London has turned to typewriters for writing sensitive documents to avoid snooping by security agencies, after it emerged that New Delhi’s diplomatic missions in New York and Washington were bugged by the National Security Agency (NSA).

The High Commission of India in the UK has also urged Indian diplomatic staff to be extra careful in dealing with top-secret documents, while officials have been warned about potential bugs inside the buildings.

The new policy comes days after it was revealed – through Edward Snowden’s disclosures – that the NSA planted high-tech bugs to spy on Indian diplomats in Washington and at the UN headquarters.

India is not the first country to use typewriters to battle security leaks. The Kremlin’s communications watchdog, the Federal Protection Service (FSO), has ordered typewriters to produce sensitive documents.

It is unclear whether Britain’s eavesdropping agency, GCHQ, allegedly involved in several other snooping activities along with the NSA, played any part in spying on Indian interests.”

FEDS EXEMPT FROM UNPAID INTERN LAWSUITS SPURRED BY DOL REGULATIONS

” The lawsuit noted that unpaid internships have proliferated among many white-collar professions, including film, journalism, fashion and book publishing. As more interns have complained and the Labor Department has threatened taking action, some companies have changed their compensation policy. Fox Entertainment started paying its interns in July 2010 — most were unpaid before that — and Condé Nast adopted a policy of giving its interns a $550 stipend per semester.

Although more private sector businesses are now paying their interns, the federal government continues to offer unpaid internships. The White House internship program is an unpaid internship. Each semester, 100 interns are selected from 6,000 applicants to work at the White House. Politics Daily reported in 2010 about a happy White House intern who worked for First Lady Michelle Obama:

For the 100 interns selected every term out of a pool of 6,000, menial work like being “the bag girl” is accompanied by unique opportunities and an experience of a lifetime.

Dorsainvil, a 2009 women’s studies graduate of Emory University, was placed in the Office of the First Lady last fall. Her primary task was to read, sort, process and respond to constituent letters — hundreds of them every week. She also worked with the office’s deputy director to coordinate volunteer work and assisted with the First Lady Social Office on such events as the RFK Human Rights Awards and the state dinner for India’s prime minister.”
