Missile Spotted In ‘Launch Position’, United States And South Korean Armed Forces Placed At ‘Vital Alert’ Watchcon 2

” NORTH Korea state TV is reporting the country is ready to fire a nuclear missile, Sky News reported.

Pyongyang has kept the world on edge over an expected missile launch while turning its own energies to celebrating leaders past and present amid soaring tensions on the Korean peninsula.

The United States warned North Korea it was skating a “dangerous line”, as South Korea remained on heightened alert for any missile test that could start a whole new cycle of tensions in a region already on a hair-trigger.

G8 foreign ministers meeting in London drove home the message, condemning “in the strongest possible terms” the North’s nuclear activities and threats to the region.”

China Conducts Live-Fire Military Drills Near North Korean Border

” China’s military and defense ministry on Sunday confirmed that military forces in a border region near North Korea conducted live-fire drills amid tensions between North Korea and the United States.

The Pentagon, meanwhile, canceled a planned test launch of a Minuteman III ballistic missile to avoid further upsetting ties with North Korea.

Intelligence sources said signs continue to indicate that North Korea is planning to conduct a flight test soon of its intermediate-range Musudan missile that has enough range to reach Guam.

Two Musudan missiles have been readied and the flight test may take place around April 15, the anniversary of the birth of the late leader Kim Il Sung, grandfather of current leader Kim Jong Un.

Additionally, North Korea may conduct another underground nuclear test in the coming days, the sources said, based on intelligence indicators of increased activity at North Korea’s northern nuclear testing facility.”

Obama Inc. Bows To North Korean Threats, Claims It Isn’t Bowing To North Korean Threats

” Obama Inc. is absolutely not backing down by cancelling a missile launch. That would be crazy. They’re just scrapping the missile launch to ease tensions which is nothing at all like backing down.

The decision to delay critical U.S missile tests is not a sign that the White House is bowing to North Korea’s “bellicose rhetoric,” a top administration official said Sunday.

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” senior Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer said the decision was “absolutely not” a retreat after Pyongyang’s recent aggressive actions against the U.S. and its allies in the Western Pacific.”

North Korea Warns Foreign Embassies To Evacuate By April 10th. War Coming, Or Is It Another Bluff?

” Is Kim Jung-un, the 30-year old despotic leader of North Korea, about to launch a nuclear war against the United States and South Korea? Experts keep saying “probably not,” that he is just trying to show the world he is tough, but what if they are wrong? What if the leaders in Pyongyang blunder into a war? Or what if they really believe they can wage such a war and somehow “win”?

The rhetoric is red hot. But the military moves are aggressive and preparatory for war. And now foreign embassies in Pyongyang are being encouraged by Un’s government to evacuate by April 10th. Could that suggest war is coming in five days? Or is it merely yet another in a history of high-profile bluffs?”

This Is How Far North Korea’s Missiles Can Reach

” North Korea on Friday reportedly moved two mobile missiles believed to be of intermediate range to the country’s east coast, potentially putting them within striking distance of Japan and American bases in Guam. If the reports are accurate, it’s the latest escalation in an increasingly tense situation which may result in a military conflict.

North Korea’s threatening language towards South Korea and the United States is becoming increasingly bellicose, going so far as to approve the use of nuclear weapons should a military conflict break out on the Korean peninsula. Propaganda videos from North Korea have claimed the country could turn Seoul, Washington and other cities into a “sea of flames” — but North Korea is notorious for outlandish provocations that simply aren’t supported by reality.

It’s important to note, however, that there’s doubt as to whether North Korea possesses nuclear weapons small enough to place atop a missile or if it would place one of their few nuclear weapons atop one of its often less-than-reliable missiles. So how far can North Korea’s missiles really reach? This chart, based on data from the BBC, shows the estimated reach of North Korea’s various projectiles.”

This Is What Air War Over North Korea Would Look Like

” It’s easy to mock North Korea for its lack of infrastructure—shoddy communications, electricity, and transportation. But one thing the nation has is a decent air defense system. Because military action of any size would require dominating the airspace over the rogue nation, the radar sites and antiaircraft missiles available to Kim Jong-un make the airspace over North Korea one of the world’s most dangerous.

That’s not to say it’s impenetrable. The U.S. Air Force has faced much of this hardware before, and prevailed—it’s just not easy. And last week, the U.S. began to fly B-2 practice missions over the Korean peninsula, just to remind North Korea what the American Air Force can do.

Here’s what you should know about the attack and defense strategies on both sides of the DMZ. “

North Korea Ratifies Nuclear Strike Against The U.S.

” In the latest round of threats coming out of North Korea, it has been reported that North Korean officials have confirmed that they have ratified plans to launch military strikes against the US, including nuclear attacks.

This ratification comes on the heels of news last week that the leadership of North Korea has officially declared war on the United States.

In response to the latest actions of the North Korean government, Reuters reports that the United States has begun to deploy missile defense systems in Guam. Guam and Hawaii, which are territories of the United States, have been specifically mentioned as targets of the North Korean regime. Though the likelihood of North Korean missiles being able to hit Guam and Hawaii are quite low, AFP points out that U.S. military bases in Japan and South Korea are within range of North Korean weaponry and face a very real risk of an attack.”

WAR DRUMS: US MOVES GUIDED-MISSILE DESTROYER ON NORTH KOREA

” The U.S. Navy is shifting a guided-missile destroyer in the Pacific to waters off the Korean peninsula in the wake of ongoing rhetoric from North Korea, U.S. defense officials said. The USS Fitzgerald is capable of intercepting and destroying a missile, should North Korea decide to fire one off, the officials said. Still, U.S. defense officials insist that there is nothing to indicate that North Korea is on the verge of another launch.  The White House on Monday said the United States hasn’t seen large-scale movements from North Korean military forces in the aftermath of harsh rhetoric from the reclusive government. ”I would note that despite the harsh rhetoric we are hearing from Pyongyang, we are not seeing changes to the North Korean military posture, such as large-scale mobilizations and positioning of forces,”

China Mobilizes Military, On ‘High Alert’ Over N. Korea Threats

” China has started mobilizing military forces around the Korean peninsula in response to rising tensions that follow recent threats by North Korea to launch missile attacks against its southern neighbor and the United States.

According to US officials, Pyongyang’s declaration of a ‘state of war’ against South Korea has led to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to increase its military presence on the border with the North. The officials say the process has been going on since mid-March, and includes troop movements and readying fighter jets. The PLA is now at ‘Level One’ readiness, its highest.”
