” The average price of a pound of ground beef climbed to another record high in February, hitting $4.238 per pound, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

A year ago, in February 2014, the average price for a pound of ground beef was $3.555 per pound. Since then, the average price has increased 19.2 percent in one year.

Five years ago, in February 2010, the average price of a pound of ground beef was $2.277, according to the BLS. The price has since climbed by $1.961 per pound, or an increase of 86.1 percent.”

Americans Name Government As No. 1 U.S. Problem

Trends in Top "Most Important" U.S. Problems, March 2014-March 2015

” Americans continue to name the government (18%) as the most important U.S. problem, a distinction it has had for the past four months. Americans’ mentions of the economy as the top problem (11%) dropped this month, leaving it tied with jobs (10%) for second place.

Though issues such as terrorism, healthcare, race relations and immigration have emerged among the top problems in recent polls, government, the economy and unemployment have been the dominant problems listed by Americans for more than a year.

The latest results are from a March 5-8 Gallup poll of 1,025 American adults.

While the ranking of the top two problems is similar to what Gallup found in February, mentions of the economy dropped from 16% to the current 11%. In a separate measure, Americans’ confidence in the economy had been dipping further into negative territory in late February and early March, but has been improving in recent days. “

Read it all and rejoice as the truth finally begins to dawn on the general public …

Dems Vow To Protect Boehner From Conservative Coup

” Tea Party Republicans contemplating a bid to oust Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) shouldn’t count on Democrats to help them unseat the Speaker.

And without their support, there is no chance to topple Boehner in this Congress.

A number of right-wing Republicans, long wary of Boehner’s commitment to GOP efforts attacking President Obama’s policy priorities, have openly considered a coup in an attempt to transfer the gavel into more conservative hands.

But Democrats from across an ideological spectrum say they’d rather see Boehner remain atop the House than replace him with a more conservative Speaker who would almost certainly be less willing to reach across the aisle in search of compromise. Replacing him with a Tea Party Speaker, they say, would only bring the legislative process — already limping along — to a screeching halt.”

Jordan Moves “Thousands” Of Troops To Iraq Border

” When ISIS executed a Jordanian pilot by immolation and released the video as propaganda, they may have lit a fire for which they weren’t prepared. Jordan’s King Abdullah quoted the Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven to promise revenge, and he meant what he said. Jordan has shifted “thousands” of troops to the Iraqi border after stepping up aerial attacks on ISIS leadership, according to NBC News:

Jordan has deployed “thousands” of ground troops to its border with war-torn Iraq as it ramps up a campaign against ISIS militants who burned alive a pilot, two Jordanian government officials told NBC News on Tuesday.

Supposedly this is a border force to prevent ISIS infiltration from Iraq, but right now the terrorist quasi-state has its hands full dealing with the Kurds and the coalition bombing. The UAE has now rejoined the latter effort after initially balking when the Jordanian pilot could not be retrieved. The brutal manner of his execution seems to have convinced the emirate to re-engage, in yet another example of the backfire over ISIS’ attempts to intimidate others in the region.

The Jordanian ground troops may have another purpose. Sky News reports that the Iraqi military will begin a “major ground offensive” against ISIS in western Iraq over the next few weeks:

John Allen, the US co-ordinator for the anti-IS coalition of Western and Arab countries, said on Sunday Iraqi troops would begin a major offensive ‘in the weeks ahead’. “

This quote says it all :

” The Saudi-friendly, London-based Asharq al-Awsat an a column from its former editor calling for a pan-Arab army to sweep across Iraq and Syria to destroy ISIS. He also scoffs at Barack Obama’s “indolence,” and at his professed “strategic patience,” referring to it instead as “strategic cowardice”

Are the Jordanian troops to be the anvil to Iraq’s hammer ? We shall see … Hot Air has more

Top-Level Turnover Makes It Harder For DHS To Stay On Top Of Evolving Threats

” An exodus of top-level officials from the Department of Homeland Security is undercutting the agency’s ability to stay ahead of a range of emerging threats, including potential terrorist strikes and cyberattacks, according to interviews with current and former officials.

Over the past four years, employees have left DHS at a rate nearly twice as fast as in the federal government overall, and the trend is accelerating, according to a review of a federal database.

The departures are a result of what employees widely describe as a dysfunctional work environment, abysmal morale, and the lure of private security companies paying top dollar that have proliferated in Washington since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The department’s terrorism intelligence arm, for example, has cycled through six directors during the Obama administration, decimating morale and contributing to months-long delays in releasing intelligence reports, according to interviews and government reports.”

The Structure Of The Islamic State (ISIS)

Isis releases map of 5-year plan to spread from Spain to China - The Structure of the Islamic State (ISIS)

” Anyone that thinks this is some errant group of wild-eyed Muslims, think again. My colleagues and I warned for years of this threat. We were derided, called conspiracy theorists and right wing nuts.

There is conspiracy theory and conspiracy fact. The global jihad is conspiracy fact.

The Structure of the Islamic State (ISIS)

Much has been written and said about the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (the Levant) — ISIS.   Most of the commentators have looked at ISIS as another terrorist organization, an al-Qaeda off-shoot, waging a guerrilla war with cohorts of unorganized thugs. The Afghani-style gear, the pickup trucks, the all black or army fatigue uniforms which most ISIS fighters wear, the unshaven beards, the turbans, hoods and head “bandanas” with Arabic inscriptions have added to the confusion.”

Screen Shot 2014-09-14 at 5.10.16 PM

” In fact, ISIS is much more than a terrorist organization; it is a terrorist state with almost all governing elements. Over the last three years, since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, the Islamic State developed from an extremist fringe and marginal faction participating in the civil war to become the strongest, most ferocious, best funded and best armed militia in the religious and ethnic war that is waged today in Syria and Iraq.

But first, what is the name of this entity and what are the borders of the Islamic State? From the first days of its appearance in Syria in 2011, the organization was known as ISIS.  However, since the declaration in Summer 2014 of the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate headed by Ibrahim ‘Awad Ibrahim Al Badri al Samarra’i, alias Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi — now the self-declared “Caliph Ibrahim” — ISIS has been transformed into the “Islamic State” (Al Dawla Al Islamiya ) in order to stress the fact that the Caliphate is not to be limited to Iraq, Syria, Israel (Palestine), Jordan  and the Levant, but its ambitions lie well beyond those limited borders.”

America’s Failed Raid To Rescue James Foley

Vacation continues: Directly after the Foley press conference, Obama went to play a round of golf with businessman Glenn Hutchins (center) and Cyrus Walker (right), the cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett

” Special forces attempted to rescue Americans – including James Foley – held hostage by ISIS in Syria earlier this summer but failed, it was revealed today.

The mission to save the journalist and others was carried out in early July but was unsuccessful because the hostages – being held by a group of British jihadists known as ‘The Beatles’ – could not be found.

‘ This operation involved air and ground components and was focused on a particular captor network within ISIL [also known as ISIS and IS],’ the White House said in a statement last night.

‘ Unfortunately, the mission was not successful because the hostages were not present at the targeted location.’

It came as President Obama’s conduct attracted growing criticism after he played golf immediately  after he gave a speech condemning the murder of Mr Foley.

Four minutes after leaving the podium Obama teed-off and was seen laughing with friends and fist-bumping them during a five-hour round at Farm Neck Golf Course on Martha’s Vineyard  – his seventh 18-holes in ten days.”

Presidents Reagan & Obama Address America on Russians Shooting Down Passenger Airliners

” On September 5th, 1983, then President Ronald Reagan addressed the American public after the Soviets shot down Korean airliner KAL 007.

“ My fellow Americans, I’m coming before you tonight about a Korean airline massacre. The attack by the Soviet Union against 269 innocent men, women, and children aboard an unarmed Korean passenger plane. This crime against humanity must never be forgotten.”

Compare the former president’s strong response to the current president’s line about the Malaysian airliner MH17 reportedly shot down by the Russians, believed to have killed 280 passengers and 15 crew:

“ It is wonderful to be back in Delaware. Before I begin, obviously the world is watching reports of a downed passenger jet near the Russia-Ukraine border. It looks like it may be a terrible tragedy. Right now we’re working to determine whether there were American citizens on board. That is our first priority.”

” President Obama then returned to his prepared statement on pitching more shovel-ready jobs to Americans. The contrast couldn’t be anymore clear.”

A Most Pertinent Question From Erich Bridges At The Baptist Press

” If you want to stand in the room where America as an idea was conceived, visit Montpelier, where James Madison grew up, lived most of his life and died.

Montpelier is a beautiful place, nestled in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. On clear days, you can see the peaks rising in the distance through the second-floor window in the library of the restored plantation house. I stood in that spot recently and trembled at the magnitude of what took place there, in the mind of one man. “

” You can imagine Madison looking out that very window for inspiration during the months he spent alone there before the historic summer of 1787, poring over his own books and the many volumes of history, philosophy and politics sent to him by his friend and political ally Thomas Jefferson. When he emerged from his self-imposed intellectual retreat, Madison carried the ideas that would form the basis of the U.S. Constitution and its first 10 amendments, the Bill of Rights

Without those founding documents, our nation — which was then a shaky confederation of former colonies on the verge of squandering their hard-won independence from England — would not exist. And you would not enjoy the right to speak, worship, vote and assemble with others as you please. Neither would untold millions of other people across the world, freed from their chains by the ideas Madison not only forged but ceaselessly labored for, wrote about and campaigned to see ratified.

To be sure, the encouragement of Madison’s great mentor Jefferson (who also wrote a little something called the Declaration of Independence) was crucial. So was the instant credibility George Washington brought when Madison persuaded the beloved revolutionary general to attend the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787. Many others contributed to the basic principles that went into the Constitution, both during Madison’s formative years in the Virginia legislature and during the long, hot summer of the convention itself, where he spoke more than 200 times. “

” But without Madison in his finest hour, where would we be today?

” As a framer and defender of the Constitution he had no peer,” historian Garry Wills wrote. “No man could do everything for the country — not even Washington. Madison did more than most, and did some things better than any. That was quite enough.”

He would go on to serve two terms as president, lead the young country through the War of 1812 and live until age 85, the last of the Founding Fathers to pass off the scene. Yet in that pivotal year of 1787, James Madison was 36 years old. And he was far younger when he began grappling with the ideas that would make him the “Father of the Constitution.”

I highlight Madison’s youth at the time in order to pose a question: Where are the Madisons of today? More specifically, where are the spiritual Madisons?”

” We keep hearing that the Millennials, born after 1980, are leaving churches in droves (or never joining in the first place), that they are wary of making commitments to faith communities, government, school, marriage or any other institution. They like having unlimited options, we’re told, and prefer digital social networks to joining or forming the groups that traditionally have held society together.

The Pew Research Center supplied more confirmation of those attitudes in its study released March 7, “Millennials in Adulthood: Detached from Institutions, Networked with Friends.”

” The Millennial generation is forging a distinctive path into adulthood,” the study reported. “Now ranging in age from 18 to 33, they are relatively unattached to organized politics and religion, linked by social media, burdened by debt, distrustful of people, in no rush to marry — and optimistic about the future. … [H]alf of Millennials now describe themselves as political independents and about three in 10 say they are not affiliated with any religion.”

Pew said Millennials are “at or near the highest levels of political and religious disaffiliation recorded for any generation in the quarter-century [it] has been polling on these topics.” “

” You have to give Millennials credit for being optimistic about the future, given the crummy economic and career prospects they’ve been handed. Maybe that’s the natural energy and hope of youth. The grim economic outlook of recent years, not to mention massive student debt, also explains part of their reluctance to get married and enter into other major social or financial commitments. The issue of trusting others, however, is revealing.

” Millennials have emerged into adulthood with low levels of social trust,” Pew reported. “In response to a longstanding social science survey question, ‘Generally speaking, would you say that most people can be trusted or that you can’t be too careful in dealing with people?’ just 19 percent of Millennials say most people can be trusted, compared with 31 percent of Gen Xers [born from 1965 to 1980], 37 percent of [the Silent Generation, born from 1928 to 1945] and 40 percent of Boomers [born from 1946 to 1964].”

People tend not to interact with those they don’t trust — and definitely won’t willingly work with them, join churches or other voluntary organizations with them, or cooperate with them to keep civil society functioning.

Perhaps you’re a Millennial believer in Christ, but you’ve decided to take a pass on being part of a local church. It’s an outmoded institution encrusted with irrelevant traditions, you say. You’re “spiritual but not religious,” so you intend to worship on your own or with a few close friends. You plan to do ministry and missions that way, too, rather than bothering with bulky religious organizations that might waste your time and money.

It’s your choice. But consider this: What if James Madison had decided to go it alone after the American Revolution? He could have stayed at Montpelier and enjoyed his big Virginia plantation — and let others worry about a fledgling nation on the edge of collapse. Instead, he rolled up his sleeves and plunged into the long, exhausting task of dialogue, debate, compromise and coalition-building that went into creating the United States of America out of the competing interests of 13 ornery colonies.

The church, a far older institution than the United States, is also the body of Christ. Christ commands that we not only worship, serve and proclaim the Gospel alongside other sinners saved by grace, but that we love them.

In order to form a more perfect union, we must commit ourselves to renewing the imperfect one we have. We need you to be a part of it.”

Watch How Vastly Different West Point Cadets React Between Hearing Presidents Obama and Bush

” Even the pundits at CNN had to agree – President Obama’s reception at West Point was nothing short of “icy.” His graduation speech has been slammed as being less “Commander in Chief” and more “policy wonk playing defense.” And the way the audience reacted supports it.

He receives a standing ovation from about a fourth of the audience who has come to see the the West Point class of 2014 graduate and commission as 2nd Lieutenants, and throughout his speech, he receives only mild applause from the graduates and their friends and families.”

” Compare that to the speech President George W. Bush gave to the corps of cadets in 2008 in his last military academy speech as President:”

” Do the two seem a little different to you?

President Bush says, “There are many honors that come with the Presidency, but none higher than serving as Commander in Chief in the greatest Armed Forces on Earth.” If President Obama believed and lived by that truth, he would be having a very different presidency.”

” I heard the “leader of the free world” on the radio this morning speaking from the White House on Russia’s annexation of the Crimea. President Obama’s big thought was about the “choices that the Russian government has made”. It was delivered in the condescending tone of a grade-school guidance counselor lecturing Little Vladdy on the “bad choices” he kept making, and what’s more “choices that have been rejected by…” Stand well back! “…the international community”.

Other than that, the President announced he was imposing “sanctions” for more individuals in the Russian government thinking of visiting Disneyland or opening a savings account with the First National Bank of Dead Cactus Junction. If you’re one of those so named and your wife’s hassling you for a weekend of shopping on Madison Avenue or Rodeo Drive, tough: Obama’s put you on the No-Shop list. For anybody in the Kremlin who still bothers watching US government press conferences, the only real danger from American “pressure” is that you may die laughing.

Daniel Henninger begins his Wall Street Journal column this week as follows:

By the time the second World Trade Center tower collapsed on Sept. 11, 2001, the whole world was watching it. We may assume that Vladimir Putin was watching. Mr. Putin, a quick calculator of political realities, would see that someone was going to get hit for this, and hit hard.

He was right of course. The Bush presidency became a war presidency that day, and it pounded and pursued the Islamic fundamentalists of al Qaeda without let-up or apology.

During that time, it was reported that Vladimir Putin, a former KGB officer in East Germany, deeply regretted the fall of the Soviet Union’s empire and despised the Americans who caused it to fall. But no one cared what Mr. Putin thought then.

That’s true. “

” A recent article from Family Security Matters alleges to have translated a full list of Muslim Brotherhood cells operating within the United States,  from an Egyptian based newspaper claiming to have knowledge of their existence. The article and list are as follows:

El Watan, one of Egypt’s most widely circulated and read newspapers, published a report discussing the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence over the United States, especially in the context of inciting pro-Brotherhood policies against Egypt’s popular June 30 Revolution, which resulted in the ousting of Muhammad Morsi and the Brotherhood from power.

Titled (in translation), “With Names, Identities, and Roadmap…  El Watan Exposes Brotherhood Cells in America,” it’s written by investigative journalist Ahmed al-Tahiri, who begins the report by saying:

Australian Nick Adams Is Our 21st Century de Tocqueville

” Nick Adams, 29, author of “The American Boomerang,” is our modern day Alex de Tocqueville, a foreigner who shows us why we are exceptional before we fundamentally transform ourselves with policies akin to other worldviews.”

The American Boomerang

“There is a cabal of politically correct forces that seek to weaken America, because if they weaken America then their agendas and their objectives are more easily met,” Adams told The Daily Caller in an exclusive interview. “And this is the reason why they have waged this war on America, both domestically and internationally, in the court of public opinion . The saddest part is, Ginni, that they run our media, our institutions and our schools, and they chose their sides a long time ago and they only want to play unopposed. They are self-appointed shepherds that see us as their sheep. They are cultural dieticians that have created a moral monopoly, the absolute antithesis of the free marketplace of ideas. These are forces that must be stopped. These are forces that must be vanquished, because they promote and indoctrinate to the detriment of America, and therefore the world. Their doctrines of relativism and moral equivalence stunt decision-making, compromise opinion-making. They wantonly abandon the principles of Jefferson and Lincoln. They force America to float aimlessly without a rope of purpose or an anchor of conviction. They make America weak. And, for all of those reasons, those forces must be met with complete and total united opposition with any person who has an ounce of patriotic fiber in their body.”

Nick Adams is on fire for liberty, prosperity and a strong America and wants more Americans to be committed to understanding what differentiates America from the rest of the world. In a previous segment, Adams discussed what has happened to American men.”

For those viewers interested in furthering reading about Mr Adams and his take on American Exceptionalism we offer the following description of the book , along with a short bio of the author including a link to download his book in PDF format .

Book Description

Publication Date: September 11, 2013

Is America still the world’s most celebrated and beloved superpower? Is this great nation poised for an amazing American century—or instead for a slow descent into mediocrity? In The American Boomerang, possibly one of the most important books of our time, philosopher and author Nick Adams explores America through sympathetic Australian eyes. In this fresh look, a conservative Adams reveals the turnaround nature of Americans, or their “boomerang spirit.” Optimistic while pragmatic, The American Boomerang makes the case for American exceptionalism, and continued American dominance throughout this century. It takes us from founding to the present, sharing an inspiring vision along the way, and makes the case that American values are conservative values, and to preserve its exceptionalism, America must remain a center-right nation. Despite the prophets of gloom, in the eyes of outsider Nick Adams, “America the Great” will only continue to become greater.

About the Author

Nick Adams is an internationally renowned Australian speaker, lecturer, author and media commentator. He is best known for his work in the field of American exceptionalism, and is credited with a resurgence in the idea worldwide. He champions the idea that the American success, power and influence of today rest strongly with the traditional family and values of the nation yesterday. He has been at the forefront of the culture war, with his work featured across national media mediums in America. Adams has received several state awards, including honorary citizenship, in America. As a professional speaker, he has given major addresses in several countries. His work in the United States has seen him speak in more than twenty states, at conventions, corporate meetings, military bases, universities, high schools and churches.”

Vladimir Putin, The New Leader Of The Free World ?

” During recent negotiations, Vladimir Putin demonstrated his skill at using peace as a weapon, and placed Russia in a position to take the title of the guardian of democracy and western values.

It is hard to imagine the “leader of the free world” administering a nation where journalists are imprisonedmilitarized police kick in doors without warrantswhere any citizen can be arrested and shipped to a remote prison without charge or trial, where police can kill unarmed citizens with impunity, where the government orders military attacks in defiance of international law, where dissidents flee in fear for their freedom or lives, where constant identification checkpoints stop citizens on the road, and where security services spy on every citizen in the country. However, that is the country that President Obama currently reigns over, leaving the title of “leader of the free world” up for grabs
.
With the notable exception of gay rights, Russia beats the United States in almost every metric of individual liberty. With many expecting a reboot of the Cold War, it will be interesting to see who plays the villain this time.”

U.S. Drone Strike Kills Top Pakistani Taliban Commander

” A suspected U.S. drone strike Wednesday killed the No. 2 commander of the Pakistani Taliban, Pakistani intelligence officials said, although the militant group denied he was killed.

If confirmed, the death of Waliur Rehman would be a strong blow to the militant group responsible for hundreds of bombings and shootings across Pakistan. Officials said the strike, in the country’s tribal areas, killed a total of four people.”

Chris Matthews Sours On Obama

CM_obama

” President Obama “obviously likes giving speeches more than he does running the executive branch,” Chris Matthews said tonight.

“What part of the presidency does Obama like? He doesn’t like dealing with other politicians — that means his own cabinet, that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn’t particularly like the press…. He likes to write the speeches, likes to rewrite what Favreau and the others wrote for the first draft,” Matthews said.”

The Benghazi Lie

” Shortly before last November’s election I took part in a Fox News documentary on Benghazi, whose other participants included the former governor of New Hampshire John Sununu. Making chit-chat while the camera crew were setting up, Governor Sununu said to me that in his view Benghazi mattered because it was “a question of character.” That’s correct. On a question of foreign policy or counterterrorism strategy, men of good faith can make the wrong decisions. But a failure of character corrodes the integrity of the state.

That’s why career diplomat Gregory Hicks’s testimony was so damning — not so much for the new facts as for what those facts revealed about the leaders of this republic. In this space in January, I noted that Hillary Clinton had denied ever seeing Ambassador Stevens’s warnings about deteriorating security in Libya on the grounds that “1.43 million cables come to my office” — and she can’t be expected to see all of them, or any. Once Ambassador Stevens was in his flag-draped coffin listening to her eulogy for him at Andrews Air Force Base, he was her bestest friend in the world — it was all “Chris this” and “Chris that,” as if they’d known each other since third grade. But up till that point he was just one of 1.43 million close personal friends of Hillary trying in vain to get her ear.”

Leave it to Mr Steyn to ask the important questions …

” What was Secretary Clinton doing that was more important? What was the president doing? Aside, that is, from resting up for his big Vegas campaign event. A real government would be scrambling furiously to see what it could do to rescue its people. It’s easy, afterwards, to say that nothing would have made any difference. But, at the time Deputy Chief Hicks was calling 9-1-1 and getting executive-branch voicemail, nobody in Washington knew how long it would last.”

Compare and Contrast

NORTH: THEN AND NOW

North: Then and now

” For better than a month, the Obama administration has been dodging and weaving over what actually transpired in Benghazi, Libya, on the night of Sept. 11-12. Questions have been posed about why Ambassador Christopher Stevens was there and not at his embassy post in Tripoli.

Congressional investigators have asked why he had no security detail, why the State Department decided not to send in U.S. Marine embassy security guards when they were offered months before, why contingency plans were not in place on the anniversary of 9/11 and why the O-Team insisted for so long that the attack on our U.S. diplomatic post was a “spontaneous event” and not an act of terrorism.

By now, all should realize that truthful answers to these inquiries will not be furnished by the White House or State Department until after the presidential election on Nov. 6. But there is an even more important question that should be asked and answered now: Once the White House knew about the attack in Benghazi, what action did the president take to protect or save the lives of Americans?

“We the People” need to know the answer because we are about to hire — or rehire — a commander in chief. The response is crucial to determining whether the incumbent is competent enough to fulfill the responsibilities of the job or whether he should be replaced. Fortunately, we have a standard of behavior for a commander in chief in a previous well-documented terror event: Ronald Reagan during the Achille Lauro incident. “

“THE MANTLE OF LEADERSHIP HAS SHIFTED: ROMNEY, RYAN GOVERN IN ALL BUT NAME”

“In the first week since Paul Ryan joined Mitt Romney on the Republican ticket, something subtle yet fundamental has happened to the country–something not yet
reflected in poll numbers or punditry: the mantle of leadership has shifted.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden (certainly the latter) occupy office but cannot be said to govern in any meaningful way beyond formalities. Obama avoids the media ; Biden has been sent back to Delaware ; and their vast auxiliary army

organizers is reduced to petty sniping.and personal attacks. No one expects any truly new ideas or proposals to come out of the Obama campaign anymore. It is telling that the only real debate this week was between Romney and Ryan’s Medicare policies, not
Obama’s. “
